Flóð

Opens EXTREMELY seaweed forward (this isn't even seaweed absolute!), which almost tramples the geosmin, pine facets here, though they are present—it gives a dirt-like experience, in which maybe somehow you found fresh seaweed on dirt in a pine forest. It’s not decaying seaweed, but some of it is unusually dry though, since it has a dry starchy sensation as well—still a bit briny though. As it is, this profile is here to stay. I don’t get the rubber interpretation at all here—No Perfume by The Zoo, or Warsztat/Garage by JMP Artisan Perfumes do a perfect job at portraying a harsh rubber, and Tompkins New York City by Kismet Olfactive for a lighter one that might be environmentally observed as a bystander. The seaweed is here to stay...it's worth nothing that "Flóð" means "flood," which in turn becomes a whimsical interpretation of a marine fragrance, but it can also be interpreted as "high tides," in which the seaweed becomes the naturally occurring event. You have to LOVE seaweed to like this frag--this is non-negotiable. Don’t say you haven’t been warned. If you want a more prominent seaweed than in Megamare by Orto Parisi, this is a good candidate. + 1 * Dirty Marine -> 50/100 Another banger by Jónsi.

A soft and sour funk. Sea and brine, dripping moss, deep dank forest, salty brightness. I am new-ish to fragrance and a bit of a Fischersund fanatic. They started my journey here. This one mixes well with my body odor and creates a strange and dark emotion that makes me want to wear wool and dark colors. There is an oyster sweetness that sets in after a while but the initial wear is big, deep waves; Oregon coast. Home and nostalgia. Maybe a stray cedar shingle got stepped on during the walk to the beach. Maybe the barnacles are beckoning. Maybe I've sweat through my wool climbing the shore pines and spruces, I'll wipe the sap off on my pants and wash them in the sneaker waves.

Ominous. Like huffing gasoline, it smells like something you know is bad for you, but you just can't get enough. There's an air of mystery to it, something that eludes description. Intoxicating and poisonous. This is a scent I wear like a warning, when I want to promise a danger I intend to deliver.

An opening that screams burning rubber and damp soil. Then the starchy scent of raw potatoes starts to emerge. There is an intense oceanic salty quality to this but mainly I get bitumen, earth and roots with a hot metallic zing. It becomes more briney as it dries down. It feels foreboding. The occasional waft of something cucumbery and piney later. Quite a beast, strangely beautiful.

Back to back days for Fischersund! Unfortunately that is where the fun ends as FLÓD is a disaster on both my skin & paper. It’s extremely sharp and earthy; in a way that isn’t pleasant. The overpowering note in FLÓD just isn’t enjoyable. It almost approaches a burnt rubber or tire smell. This is unfortunately the end of my review of FLÓD as well, I just couldn’t keep it on my skin all day long. I ended up attempting to washing it off in the shower after about 30 minutes. It wasn’t headache inducing, it just wasn’t enjoyable & something I wanted to smell like. Overall it’s a 0/10 for me.
