B'Afric

Everyone underlines how this smells like Bal d'Afrique. I've actually smelled it once: I think it's very similar too, possibly with a creamier note (a sweeter vanilla maybe?). What else - I've bought it to top up an order and I've ended up using it every day. It's lovely and versatile for the day out, the daylight at weekends, at the office. It has something lively and something very elegant. Maybe it's not stunning, too niche or so very original but I like it a lot and I would carry it with me even during a trip. As many Flavia perfumes it lasts hours - 3/4 and projects pretty well for that 3 hours - then it becomes a bit more than a skin scent (my skin doesn't usually keep the scent for a long time - so - get your own conclusions).

Generic, but classy. For the price is fine. On me more towards unisex - it's spring now, comfy temperatures and vetiver is prominent. It's dry, colder, sharper, not much round and deep, but very clean and nice. If you know the Hercule Poirot - Appointment with Death with David Suchet, that's the era and environment I see when I smell B'Afric. Sadly, I can't confirm the Bal d'Afrique resemblance, I've never smelled that one.

A fine dupe. A safe office scent perfect for daily use, especially because of the price. I use it instead of the real deal and it does the job. Even though it's a dupe, it could also be a standalone perfume because to me it's much less unisex and pretty feminine. I like to mix it with another cheapie - La Rive's Vanilla Touch and they mix heavenly.

For the price it is a nice, citrusy scent that has a twist. Not your usual fresh citrus. I only had a sample and enjoyed wearing it for a while, but it is not for me, so I didn't end up buying a FB. My husband was not a fan of this on me. So I guess if you want something more unusual for little money give this one a try.

If you are wondering if this one smells like Bal d'Afrique I can tell you yes it does but Bal d'Afrique has a very pronounced Vetiver note on my skin which makes it unisex and interesting, to be honest, and this one does not which makes it 100% feminine. Maybe it's just my skin however Bal d'Afrique along with that Vetiver note also has a nutty note on my skin which this one also is missing. So for 18 bucks, I bought it just because the price was too good to pass but I passed this one to my wife and she likes it. One thing this one has which Bal d'Afrique lacks is performance, this one is strong and projects far and all day long.

This is a very good dupe to Bal d'Afrique. It is not the exact same scent, but sufficiently similar - so, if you are not too bothered by details, just buy this one and enjoy, as it costs much less than the 'inspiration' and lasts all day long. This just goes to show how crazily overpriced some of these 'niche' brands are - basically the customers are paying big bucks for the concept and a cool story around it, and not for the actual juice inside the basic, often ugly bottle. That don't impress me much.

This compred to Divain clone from Bal Dafrique are completely different. I liked the Divain one so I purchased this one out of curiosity. I am not willing to burchase actual Byredo thing, no way. This one has something that sticks in my throath, somehow this is not as smooth as Divain. Divain one is more feminine. I think this one has a cuter design though.

Maybe it needs to macerate but it is nowhere near to Bal D’Afrique.
