Between Two Trees

One of the joys of opening a new fragrance bottle is when you find both presentation and juice making sense. Floraïku’s packaging is known not just for its bento box style of presentation, but also for the utilitarianism of the unique bottle cap, here doubling as a pretty travel case for the accompanying 10 mL atomizer to the 50 mL EDP bottle. Fragrances that are simple based on the house's published composition usually excite me to hunt for the undeclared notes. In Floraïku’s Between Two Trees, the trio of grapefruit (top), maté (heart), and vetiver (base) give off a slightly bitter, more aromatic green nuance to the otherwise straightforward, ripe citrus and clean, slightly woody vetiver. Perhaps its bitterness is the maté's doing. I can't ascertain, because I have not yet had that drink. Overall, it is a tranquil, restrained, but slightly bitter version of the otherwise loud Jo Malone Grapefruit. If it's a matter of this or that, I will go with Between Two Trees — no questions — despite the price point being nearly double for almost half the volume. This unisex perfume I see being used year-round, but for the scorching Philippine summer seasons, more during the night. It’s not too casual for formal occasions, rather, it’s tacitly confident.

I’ve been spending a lot of time toiling in my garden, preparing beds and planting veggie and flower starts. When my Discovery box came in the mail earlier in the day I decided to test Between Two Trees, and was surprised that it lasted all day and into the evening. Floraïku has made a full bodied vetiver scent. Vetiver is dominant throughout, I pick up a little citrus in the opening but it fades away after 20 minutes. That’s the only transition. I’m not exactly sure what mate smells like, but I think it’s amping up the herbal and earthy qualities of vetiver in this composition. My first sampling from the brand has left me impressed. Between Two Trees leans masculine but I still enjoyed wearing it. Feels a bit heavy for warm weather, so only wear on mild spring days, or wait until cooler temps in the Fall.

First time smelling the fragrance really made me fall in love with it. You immediately smell the grapefruit lingering around, combined with the vetiver. The more you smell it the more you dive deeper into the tea smelling scent. Its not the most complex scent, but simplicity can be a art on its own. I wear it all day around and, if the weather looks gray or when the sun is out, it can fit in any occasion. You can wear this in any season. It is a bit expensive for what you get, for the price you expect more silage and longevity. But you won't regret exploring this house as it provides a lot of pleasant scents. My tip is, if you have the ability to go to Harrods in London, go to Salon de Parfums and visit the Floraiku section. It was a fun time exploring the house and getting to know more about it.

Smells like an absolute masterpiece! There's both mate and something sweet, even too much sweetness. But still amazingly good one. But the price... oh dear. They sell also 10 ml so maybe go for that at least. I wish I could find a mate+green scent that's also affordable and enjoyable. I have many others such so why not of this scent type. Edit: Irish Leather is so close to this but also too expensive. Ambergris Showers is much cheaper and good enough alternative with an acceptable price although it is greener and it doesn't have the amazing-luxurious sweet note -- I just compared them hand by hand. Yeah, Between Two Trees is one of the best things I have ever smelt.

Very heavy, dark and mysterious but versitile and i will say year around use scent. I get a bit of a bright citrus in the opening follow up by a heavy dose of kind a smoky incensy notes with hints of ginger. Even though mate is categorized or maybe associated with tea, in this case it works as the smoky aspect giving it that deep scent. This is very challenging. Not blind buy and definitely very unique i would say, or at least of what i have smelled. Still, this is the kind of smell you continously keeps going to your arm to smell. The drydown is on the heavy woods. Definitely in my wish list. Try it on a 1.5 ml sample

The name may put the wearer in a mind frame of a forest but for me it is a good, really good, outdoors inspired fragrance. Perhaps "Between Two Citrus Trees" would have been a better name. The grapefruit dies down but is ever present, merging well with the vetiver. It does not project far but those that lean into you will be treated to pleasant scent. I personally don't have anthing quite like this and while it is overpriced It is worth it to me. The packaging is beautiful, look at the pictures, and considering it comes with a 10ml travel spray you really are getting 60 ml and not just 50ml.

Exceptional perfume! Starts with cigarette smoke (not a cigar, an actual cigarette), then rum and flowers. It paints an image of a very high-priced escort riding in the back seat of a Rolls Royce in the winter at night looking at the city lights outside the window and smoking a thin cigarette. A mix of luxe leather, smoke, feminine sensuality, warmth, a touch of booze, and a cold wind makes this perfume mind-blowing (for me at least :) ) The scent stays till morning. Absolute love! However, I would recommend only using it outside and not spritzing too much.

Stage 1: Grapefruit, dry mate tea and vetiver exactly, one by one from the opening. Stage 2: It's musky, earthy, and lightly smoky. It's definitely greener than Tea for Two, Thé Noir 29, Winter Palace. It smells dark green, pine green, evergreen, as to me, the greenness is dry and intimate, like the Christmasy green. The sense it gives out is like the Yankee wax melt I would light during colder season at home. Stage 3: After the absolute dry down, it's burgundy or to say bordeaux red. Closer to smoked, dry lapsang tea. Very wearable as well in all seasons.

This is now officially my FAVORITE scent in my collection. It opens with some citrus but mainly smoky. After 20 minutes, the smokiness seems moves to the background and a wonderful tea scent comes through. It’s a bitter and not too green tea note on a wood base, that is softened with semi-sweet citrus. This fragrance just put me in a very calm and composed mindset. I feel like I can either chill out and relax or focus on something if I chose to. I would be comfortable wearing this in most season, maybe not the peak of summer.

I love, love, LOVE this! I couldn't even tell you what about it really works, but it is DEFINITELY in the dry down. The green grapefruit opening is nice, but the magic comes some 20 mins or so in. This warm, almost cinnamon, depth of subtle spicy kicks in, and it just lifts it to another level entirely! Not the same, but definitely in the same DNA pool as Bond no. 9's Chinatown (although that is NOT cheaper!) In spite of the price, this will be a FB buy for me, and I would recommend a sample to anyone!!

Easily my favorite Floraiku, mostly for resembling the Yerba Mate drink that comes in a yellow can. Earthy, sharp, comforting, uplifting. I get a blast of nostalgia for my Nana's house: smoke, old paper and graphite, soap on a silver tray, vetiver baskets. Between Two Trees is pleasant, classic with an earthy Irish feel that suits my own house full of antiques. Unfortunately I'm not terribly keen on this for most occasions, but I can't get enough and desperately wish this was more concentrated.

Unexpectedly pretty green aromatic smell, the mate is calming and the grapefruit gives a little energy but I feel like there’s juniper or something in the opening there’s something sweet that comes out at the start. The vetiver and mate together works really well and smells fresh green slightly medicinal and just has that quality that makes me want to keep smelling it but idk if it’s worth the price smells like a niche Wanted EDP with the mate added maybe on sale

I'm not sure if anyone understands how you are supposed to use this fragrance. It is supposed to be an addition to your fragrance you put on first. I wear it on its own because I love it so much. I would consider this top three of all time. After about 20 minutes you really start to smell the creamy vetiver and mate. It's a perfect match in my opinion. It's soft. Not a sharp aromatic note from beginning to end. It’s a masterpiece.

I received a sample of Between Two Trees this morning and it was an instant buy by this afternoon. I get grapefruit immediately upon spraying, followed by a smoky, yummy mate that clings to the skin. It wears feminine to me. A great summer scent for those who like to smell sultry without being too cloying in the heat. While I love it, I don’t think I would pay the full retail price. I was able to snag a great deal on eBay.

Nice and simple like the rest. I like the fresh juicy grapefruit, vetiver and mate combo. It seems to be very balanced between the three. A dry earthy herbal scent that gets a necessary lift from the grapefruit. Not surprisingly the grapefruit doesn't last very long and then it's mostly mate with a touch of vetiver. A soft herbal lushyness with moderate longevity and not much sillage. Very unisex.

Between Two Trees is a beautifully unusual blend of lime, ginger, mate, soft leather, and woods. Fresh, aromatic, slightly green, and grounding at the same time. The leather stays smooth, while the mate adds a distinctive herbal depth that makes the fragrance feel unique. Completely unisex and unlike anything else I've tried.

slightly green and aromatic opening that develops into woody dance of vetiver and dried mate on the skin. Xxceptional quality of the scent and very realistic smell. I love how present it is in the air yet has that inoffensive aura. Safe for crowded places, longlasting, very sophisticated fragrance with clean presentation.

The fruit/tobacco combo reminds me a little of Sunshine by Amouage, however I prefer this. On first sniff this came across instantly masculine, but after about an hour of wear it developed into something truly unisex that I love. Not too sweet, interesting but very wearable. I see this as a summer evening fragrance

This wears beautifully from start to finish. Imagine a smoky grapefruit cocktail with a touch of absinth. Beautiful and well rounded. If you enjoy aromatherapy grapefruit oil rolls, this may suit you. Each snif is an energy shift. Truly wakes you up and sets you for a busy day ahead.

I adore this fragrance so much. To me it is versatile for all occasions and seasons. There's a freshness from the citrus but also a beautiful comforting smoky, earthiness from the vetiver and mate. Unfortunately for my wallet, this will be a lifetime favorite of mine.

To me this smells like rural Japan for some reason. Lasts a long time, but as a skin scent. Its scent is incredibly calm, green, citrucy, very tea forward.

Fresh tea-like scent.. sometimes reminds me irish leather from memo, sometimes italian leather.. nice fragrancre!

Looks like being back to the childhood hangout! Kind warm and cozy! Love this one.

It is good but no one will recognize it.

I was disappointed by I'm Coming Home, but this one is a pleasant surprise. I think the notes are very simple if you take them one by one. On the top notes, I really have the feeling of a shortbread dipped in a jar of grapefruit jam accompanied, indeed, by a cup of brewed mate. It's very "lively", present, but at the same time well defined, perfectly delimited, a characteristic that I particularly appreciate in a perfume (even if, to tell the truth, I would have preferred a citrus that would have been a little more green, dry, astringent, and a vetiver more upfront). By the evening, I'm left with a woody/milky feeling with a touch of spice, set against a tiny, rounded layer of vetiver, which I tend to really like. For me, it's clearly a cocoon scent, very soft (literally, not in the sense of soft-weak), very enveloping and with a very good hold on my skin (I mean, one that has density, and implies a really nice evolution, that I still smell 8 hours later). It reminds me very very strongly of a perfume I know, that a woman was wearing around me in the 2010s, but which I can't put a name on it (if someone could help me find it!). Anyway, the cuddly aspect may have a lot to do with it, but I think it's a very nice fall scent. It's a perfume you have to be able to afford (at least at the price of the bottle in the US), but it could very well become the signature scent of a young person in her twenties, someone quiet but who likes to carry around that little je-ne-sais-quoi. In contrast, it might not appeal to the avant-garde aficionado, but I'm a perfect example of perfume omnivorism. PS1: once again, I think the bottles are very pretty, with that little poem on the back, and especially very practical since the leather cap seems to turn into a pocket spray. PS2: the design of the bento boxes as well as the caps seem to be different from one batch to another, or from one country to another (I don't know). I see at least two versions on the internet: the one with the animals drawing in color, and the one with the cherry tree branches in transparency.

Wow, but these Floraiku perfumers know what they're doing. Almost scarily austere, but amazingly organic mix with the grapefruit and mate just bringing out the very very best of the vetiver. The tilt towards intensely citric, lemony, spritzy fruit and clean tea somehow scrubs all the dirt out of the vetiver and - miracle of miracles! - makes this into a vetiver I'd almost like to wear. Bear in mind vetiver is in my top 3 most hated notes as a dominant ingredient and you'll see how sharply uphill this one has taken my learning curve. Even a note I loathe now seems sparkling fresh and natural and nuanced, not at all the bitter-dirty green I usually associate with vetiver. No stale sweat or shades of men's aftershave whatsoever. And it does all that by adding a notably bitter fruit! It's amazing. Makes me feel fully awake and clear headed, like a freshly-bathed, impeccably dressed, totally focused Zen mystic (I'm none of those things.) It might not have tipped me all the way to a full bottle, especially not at Floraiku's scary prices, but this one is a definite must try for vetiver lovers - totally unisex - with decent sillage and excellent performance IMO, even for the (big pile of) money you'd need to spend.

Bitter grapefruit and earthy maté combine at the start of this perfume in a less than benevolent way. The top notes form a pungent combination, sort of reminiscent of the most barn yardy of ouds. Luckily that grapefruit burns off fairly quickly, and on its own the earthy maté is soil like, almost leathery and animalic with a distinctly sweet edge. When a woody and aromatic vetiver joins in the two together create the imagery evocative of the name of this perfume. Between Two Trees. Soil and evergreen. Before long though that vetiver dominates the maté, completely changing the original earthy brew to a sparkling tangy green tea. The mood also is lifted from a pensive darkness to light ebullience. As the perfume ages on the skin the maté dwindles down completely and what’s left of the vetiver is smoky and dry. Between Two Trees lasts 7 hours on skin.

Somewhat smoky at first, reminds me of Alexandria's Rome in the opening, that thick, leathery smoke. After a while, some of the grapefruit comes through and there's a hint of sweetness, more of a sickly sweetness with an earthy touch to it. Projection is mostly gone at that point. Generally, performance isn't too great, it's there after a few hours, more on clothes than skin I'd say, but doesn't go places and as a standalone, you're not doing yourself any favors here, unless you want to wear it in high heat to get some projection, but the scent profile is too heavy for that, imo. I'm gonna try layering in a second round if I'm feeling like it to see if there's something to their mysterious "shadowing" or if it's just a load.

The first thing I thought of when I smelled this was musk. I told myself, there's gotta be musk in this fragrance- it just smells natural, like the skin of someone who just came in from someone gardening or raking leaves or just spending time outdoors in general. Now that it has dried down, I can definitely detect more earthy notes. I like this one. I don't even know why I said musk anymore- it's all earthy woody notes, and I'm detecting moderate sandalwood as well despite not being listed in the notes. This one is nice. The price for a full bottle is criminal. I'd love it as a gift, I'd just never shell out the money to smell like faint earth. But damn, it's a decent smell of earth.

I get a mellow floral citrus here. The vetiver makes Bal D’Afrique a suitable comparison, but with the juiciness of Pulp. It’s not as sheer as those Byredo compositions; the grip is gentle but firm. It’s casual, yet artfully composed. The Floraiku line is interesting to me because it’s prohibitively expensive, but doesn’t seem aimed at giving off the notion that you’ve got money. I get the vibe they want you to smell great, not rich. This is very well done. Great for a late summer day with the woods in the base carrying you right on into the evening. Totes unisex.

Between two trees really reminds me of the tea accord that is in their In the Dark perfume. In the Dark is much more complex because of the rose and patchouli. Between two Trees is a lovely simplistic mate tea and citrus scent with hints of mint, musk and maybe a little immortalle. I get a bit of that maple syrup vibe here that immortalle is famous for. But it does remind me of In the Dark without the rose and patchouli. Lovely, simplistic, light unisex tea scent that smells very realistic and easygoing chic.

I detect a distinct tobacco scent in this perfume, which is pleasantly non-offensive. It's like opening a box of cigarettes while sipping on mate tea. Additionally, there's a hint of lemon in the fragrance, but it's distinctly lemon, not grapefruit. Overall, it's a very nice and sophisticated scent. However, its performance on my skin is quite poor. The fragrance lasts less than two hours on me and has almost no projection. If not for these technical limitations, it could easily be a signature scent for me.

Makes me think of a foggy, misty morning in the pine forests of a mountain range. Very versatile; I can see why there is so much disagreement on which season this would work best in. Leans masculine, but is soft enough to be very wearable for either gender. I agree with the reviewer below that there is a noticeable iris accord, but to my nose it's just quietly working in the background to soften up some of the potentially harsh woody and green notes. Well-rounded and balanced. Really lovely perfume.

It really comes out swinging with the grapefruit. Citrusy and green, it's very fun, then after about 30 mins it mellows into a woody and almost aquatic scent. It very much gives me a vibe of walking through a forest right after a light rain has stopped. I really like it and it's pretty long lasting, a refresher right after lunch is enough to get me through till the end of the day. Definitely unique, might have to get a full bottle.

Agree with the comment below by Whateverwhocares - this seems like something A&F would produce, but a bit more calm and serious. I received Between Two Trees as a sample along with a full size fragrance that's also been compared to A&F, so I maybe we're not the only ones! Says unisex, but IMO this is masculine. I picture a fit man of few words, smartly dressed for an outdoor occasion on a cool misty morning. Very attractive.

The citrus and vetiver is muted by the mate here and I like how earthy and complex this is. Smells more masculine to me due to the dirty, musty almost dusty smelling mate. Very natural smelling like you are sitting next to a giant oak tree after a rainstorm. This house makes very simple fragrances with a few notes, but some of them come across very complex and tell a story. This is def one of the better offerings from them.

this one really grew on me. the first two times I found it a bit boring, fresh citrusy opening, a lot of vetiver, calm and unisex, but meh walking through the town and then a park on a warm spring day today I found it very meditative - I felt wrapped in my own little cloud of gentle woody freshness with prickles of citrus spiciness. It dried down to warm, soft and powdery. I think it's lovely for hot summer weather

I tried it at one new boutique in Jakarta, and as mentioned by the lady at the shop, it is designated as "shadow" for other fragrances in the line. I sprayed it on left wrist, and the "One Umbrella for Two" on my right. Side by side, they are complimenting one each other..but it also good as single perfume. I really like the dry-down that is woody sweet. Minor thing only the price...

A strong, zingy, bitter grapefruit on the opening. True to its name, it evokes the freshness of tree sap. Sharp, green and bright. The Mate and vetiver give it an earthy, soil-like depth and perhaps something a little smoky. There’s a pleasing realism here. It feels intellectual, composed. It’s refined, distinctive, and quietly striking. I enjoy it.

Ooh, I like this very much! Spicy and fresh, with great sillage, I find that the grapefruit really needs warmth to appear. Despite the reviews that say it's "masculine", I would 100% wear this (as a female) if I was gifted a bottle. PS: Mate is not like a "green tea" scent, it's more earthy and herbal. :)

I have tried all perfumes from this house, tbh almost all of them smell very good and beautiful. They are unique, I think this perfume is the best of the house, but very expensive for the longevity that it has on my skin. It doesn’t last more than 2 hours on my skin, none of them last more than 2 h on me.

Zesty grapefruit/lime, smoky vetiver and dusty, earthy yerba, very masculine. If I smelled it on a guy I'd find him sexy and sophisticated. Longevity is decent, one of the best from Floraïku. Projection is mwah, could be better for the outrageous price they ask.

this one is just a "like" for me. the opening is lovely and slightly peppery along with the hit of grapefruit. then it dries down to a woodsy, floral-ish scent. definitely unisex, though it doesn't quite suit me so I gave it to a friend :)

This reminds me of a more unisex Bal D’Afrique. It’s not quite as sunny or happy but the citrus combined with vetiver is very similar in this. So far enjoying this house though they are somewhat overpriced for being simple compositions.

Mate and grapefruit, non-offensive and masculine. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is very nice, high quality and well blended. I am quickly thinking this is becoming my favorite brand.

Has a typical cologne type of vibe. Reminds me of something Abercrombie & Fitch might produce, but just a touch denser. Vetiver, grapefruit and mate. It works. Harmonious. Just makes 🙂 grade.

A gorgeous scent. Love at first sniff. The fragrance is not heavy but I can definitely smell it through out the day. I would say one of my favorite scents. The vetiver is soft and relaxing.

From the first spray till it fades, it's soapy orange cigarettes. If you love the smell of Vegas, you will love this. Oddly, I do, though the price is way too steep for the juice.

I would get this for my dad if I could. 100% dad perfume. Well harmonized. Beautiful dry down. Very masculine but not offensive. Love it.
