First Dream of the Year

A Fragrantica member with such a beautiful and generous soul sent me the Floraiku discovery set that includes their most popular scents from each line. I love Cricket Song but then I tried this one tonight and it’s just divine. There’s something bubblegum-like in here and I’m very picky about bubblegum notes and I know it’s not listed here, but I totally smell it and love it! I would love to own a full bottle one day, however, to my nose this smells SO similar to JHAG Lili Fantasy (which I also love) which is a quarter of the price. Regardless, having a full bottle of this would just make my collection feel special; especially because Floraiku as a whole was introduced to me by a kind stranger here on Fragrantica. It’s definitely on my fragrance “goals” list with the few other more expensive fragrances I’ve been able to try and have fallen in love with. Something about this scent is so comforting and soothing for me.

This is beautiful but....... I love all citrus, neroli and orange blossom heavy fragrances during spring and summer. When you just smell the decant it reminds me of a really sweet orange juice. What makes it different is the citrus rind that you can smell throughout. You have to look for it, but it is there. I want to call it sour but in a good way if that is possible. I wash my clothes in an orange scent soap and spray and then spray them with Bonpoint EDT. Sundazed, solar bloom, JM orange blossom and BR neroli woods are my go to daily wearers, so this would easily fit in. I just feel it is just to similar to all the other citrus/neroli heavy fragrances that are so popular right now. For the price, it is a pass. But if someone wants to give me a bottle........

Really spectacular, it can recall a feeling of cleanliness, but not the classic note of shower gel or bar of soap but a very particular and refined clean that puts you in a good mood, the combination of iris rhizome and orange blossom could remember right after doing the shower we leave the house on a beautiful sunny day and the smells of nature mix with those of cleanliness, it is impossible not to have it in the collection. Absolutely unisex as it changes from female to male skin adapting well to both sexes, on girls it is sweeter while on males it is more woody. I find it perfect combined with a light sweater perhaps in caschmere in the first days of autumn as it reminds us of summer but prepares us for the cooler season.

An elegant, opulent, wonderful fragrance. At the first spray, orange blossom comes to my nose, then becomes even more strong thanks to a rich bouquet of white flowers (I distinct indolic jasmine,) made even more important by a rich grape juice. and this sensual feeling mixed with elegance lasts for a very long time. I see it well on a woman, wrapped in a sexy black dress, at an important party, perhaps to resume the title, the one at the end of the year, while, looking at the fireworks, she expresses her first wish for the new year. Beautiful

I'm a fan of the neroli portofino DNA and own and have owned many niche renditions. This is an amazing take on it. I can tell that this is made using very high quality ingredients. One of the best I've smelled. The iris in the base is a beautiful twist. It's not an original creation so it lacks uniqueness, and it's pricey. If you want the best quality version of of this DNA, it's right here. I think this surpassed nearly all other expensive offerings of NP type fragrances that I've tried. Scent 9.4/10 Performance 7/10

I need it. I must have it. I have no idea why I love this so much. Extremely nostalgic for me. Reminds me of something I can't place. A childhood memory. Reminds me of my mom. Summer. It's beautiful, relaxing, calm, green, I really love it. But $350??????? Hope I find it a partial or if anyone has a recommendation for a similar fragrance please PM me!! 9.5/10

This is perfect. Knew it had to be my wedding scent the second I smelled it. Their official website doesn't have samples of this fragrance available to purchase which has me worried that it might be getting discontinued. If they discontinue it before my wedding... I will riot.

This smells like Elie Saab! Now, why would I spend $200-300 on a bottle of this when I can purchase another bottle of Elie Saab EDT for under $80?

First decent spring day of the year 2024 in London, so what else to wear but this? Pretty, breezy, fresh, feminine optimism in a vial. Not much of the promised iris shows up at all, and if this catches you the wrong way, it *CAN* seem like just plain generic "spring flowers" (TM) soapy-detergent-y anonymity. Personally I feel it's better than that - there is some true zing and swing to it all, and the orange blossom's genuinely appealing. Fair enough - it put a smile on my face (no mean feat) and as a skin scent it even lasted up to 9h, a geologic eon considering this house's usually fragile and shortlived smells. But still: the real optimists here were Floraiku's marketing team, rather than the creatives - as there's almost nothing to justify its ultra-luxe pricing. Sorry to say, but *their* First Dream of the Year appears to have been of 'great profit margins' rather than 'striking perfume art'...

Lots of notes missing here... in the brand’s official description they list petitgrain, orange, jasmine, musk and others.. Anyway, it’s a very pretty and uplifting scent. Overall, it’s a fresh and clean citrus fragrance. I wish I smelled more of the white florals but on my skin it’s basically just citrus.. and it doesn’t feel like that typical grapefruit note, which I usually find a bit bitter. This seems more like green madarin – effervescent, bright, cheerful. It’s nothing super unique but it’s nice, works for various occasions and lasts over 8h on me.

(First review) I love a citrus-heavy fragrance, and this certainly makes the cut--grapefruit and and a twist of an orange rind, balanced by the sweetness of the orange flower. I don't pick up the iris here in any shape. Lovely scent, gorgeous bottle, but far, far too expensive for something that has been done just as well for far less money. For those who like a "smells like" comparison, to me this is very similar to 19-69's Capri (less orange and less sweet) and Histoires de Parfums' Not a Blue Bottle 1.6 (really close).

First Dream of the Year is a pleasant, easy wearing fragrance. I only smell citrus which is disappointing because I love iris and didn't get a whiff of it. I feel the price point is absurd due to the scent being quite basic and is mainly due to the beautiful bottle.

Testing my sample; smells like a freshly laundered linen dress washed with citrus-forward detergent that heavily favors grapefruit. It's inoffensive and refreshing for what it is, perfect for spring and summer months.

This one is really unisex scent. I do not like it on my skin but it smells great on men. First comes citrus notes, later I see some flowers but I do not feel Iris at all. Perfect for spring.

I get a lot of Lily of the Valley and orange blossom. Reminds me of other less pricey perfumes, and it's very pretty but not worth the $350 price tag.

I really like this. Smells clean and fresh. Quite linear on me. Reminds me of a good fabric softener. But way too expensive for what it is.

Even though the art direction is borderline cheesy, I like the concept behind Floraiku —Japanese culture, haikus, etc. That said, I have not found any perfumes that I love. First Dream of the Year is equal parts orange blossom and citrus, and that’s all I pick up. It’s linear (not a deal breaker) and a very natural composition. As orange blossom often goes, this is a fresh soapy, clean scent. The ridiculous retail price makes this a luxury purchase for just about everyone. And even when I find it on a discount site, it’s still a pass. Anything over $200 has got to knock my socks off.

The more I sniff it, the more I hate it? Smell like car freshner somehow in familiar way. I don't know I get mixed feeling. For the price tag it dissapoints me. I hope for less citrus and more iris. Maybe will suits active-male. Update I wore it on summer day, love it, fresh and calming.

Pretty forgettable orange blossom with a slight citrus zing at the start but is more just a white floral skin scent. Not awful but feels just forgettable and basic to me I don’t really notice any iris flower.

The most banal out of the Floraiku sample set. If you like it you could probably find something at Macy’s that scratches this itch

Nothing special or particular. Doesn’t stand out. Not good or bad either. Nothing to talk about.

On me it opens with citrusy spike, then moves on to a sweet, light floral, then it's gone in less than one hour. I tried it a few times, doing more and more spritzes each time from my small sample, but it just disappears completely in the shortest time from both my skin and my clothes. It literally does not allow me the time to understand what it smells like after the zesty opening. I'm guessing clean, floral, springtime? I genuinely don't know. Not my cup of tea anyway so I'm not mad, but still, for the price point I am so so so disappointed.

Definitely a 'no, thanks' for me. The opening is a gorgeous soft grapefruit, but then it mulches down to some odd 'clean car interior' smell on me. Probably skin chemistry thing so definitely not a safe blind buy, and VERY male leaning.

Unfortunately, white floral + citrus smells like a bathroom diffuser or cleaning spray. Once it dries down complete, I just get white floral. It's a less green version of Sleeping on the roof.

Actually it smells like cheap WC air freshener. Seriously?!?! I don't like it at all. For so high price, it's terrible. :( Maybe it's my skin chemistry. But not my cup of tea.

Citrus and white floral is nice but is a bit soapy/powdery for me. Seems very feminine and forgettable.

The perfume contains Grapefruit Oil, Orange Blossom Oil and Iris Concentrate Absolute and is part of the Enigmatic Flowers Collection. I received a sample when I purchased Sound of a Ricochet recently. When I applied this, it felt like I was slapped in the face with a strong acidic or sour grapefruit note, as if I had literally showered in grapefruit juice. When this note faded, it turned into an OK citrus scent, but quite ordinary and unremarkable. If like me, you don't enjoy this one, maybe you might appreciate the Haiku instead: First dream of the year First wish The milky way above

First dream of the year and you are sleeping on freshly washed Egyptian sheets This is soft and clean linen all the way. Its soft and pretty orange blossom with a hint of citrus and a whisper of iris. Nice and well made, but this has been done 100 times before. There is nothing special how this evolves, projects or lasts. Once again I don't get the price point this house expects people to pay for safe and commercial scents. A very mild thumbs up, but not for the price.

This smells bright, gentle and peaceful and I think the name fits the scent. It's certainly not a super groundbreaking scent but I really like the orange blossom with that hint of grapefruit. Overall this doesn't smell powdery despite the iris, maybe only a bit in the dry-down (on me at least). This scent doesn't have that much dimension to it but I like its simplicity and I like how the orange blossom really shines here.

Pleasant clean, reminds me of a very posh soap. Calming and relaxing like a massage with essential oils at a luxury spa. Neroli and Iris are the most prominent notes here. Grapefruit is fleeting but bright and luminous while it lasts... I get some clean white musk drydown. I like this scent. I would buy it if it were cheaper. The price is just too exaggerated and there are many similar scents in the market.

On my skin the grapefruit is not that present, neither is the orange blossom unfortunately. Iris comes out very quickly, making it a truly floral fragrance. I do not consider it unisex at all, but maybe I will test it on my husband to check!

It certainly is strong, I got the mouth sensation of having eaten raw orange peels after I sprayed once. It does indeed become something boring later. I am not so keen on dull, or perfume I can taste, so it isn't for me.

Ephemeral citrusy opening then turned white floral. It's dry and musky. Quite comforting and soapy. Still, like the rests of the enigmatic flowers fragrance of Floraïku, too soapy, plane, and feminine.

This is absolutely lovely. I get the citrus and iris and LOTV. Not particularly ground breaking. If the price was $100-$150 I would probably buy but I just can’t do it for $350.

Lovely orange blossom that is so real and lingering that you are consumed. Very nice but maybe a bit too linear for the price and presentation

Generic Perfumes has a dupe for this & others from the line.. these prices aren’t ideal lol
