Not only it evokes sun and sand, but it does it so well that it annihilates all its rivals and other competitors. Goodbye those vaguely caricatured monoï and frangipani "sunscreen" fragrances. Dominant Notes: Benzoin, Vanilla, Amyris Secondary Notes: Ylang, Sandalwood, Cistus Subtle Notes: Patchouli, Musk It's late afternoon and the soft sunrays are setting. You're coming out of the pool, and your damp skin is caressed by a light sea breeze. Let me start with the facts, so the reader gets a clear picture right away: – I loved this fragrance; absolutely, wholeheartedly. – Those saying “not long-lasting”, “skin scent” or “YSBB” must not have tested it properly; it has been on my skin for 8+ hours now. – It is not a sunscreen scent. – Not a pure tropical floral. – And despite the name, not a marine fragrance. I’m familiar with the house; their discovery set entered my collection a year ago, and I’ve now added a full bottle. Their style is generally very gentle; fragrances that blend Asian sensibilities with French perfumery, each one paired with its own haiku. But this one? This one feels entirely Western. I couldn’t detect anything “Asian-inspired” at all. What I get is a solar vanilla wrapped in indolic ylang-ylang. It instantly transported me to a very specific moment: You’ve just come out of the sea and stepped into a cool shower. Your skin still carries faint traces of salt. Then you apply a luxurious body cream (something scented with lily, vanilla, and ylang-ylang) and settle into a shaded lounge chair. Your body slowly warms up under the breeze, your head tilts to the side, and you catch whiffs of your own skin: creamy, floral, milky, sun-drenched. Sensual. It’s skin-addictive; I can’t stop sniffing every place I sprayed. The fragrance announces itself early on, but it truly blooms on skin. Voluptuous! I tried it in my hair as well -lovely- but on skin it almost melts into you. That part is difficult to describe; it must be experienced. Although vanilla is the central note, the scent is grounded by woody touches and a subtle leather undertone. Once I checked the note list, it made perfect sense: the leather nuance is coming from labdanum, and it fits beautifully. Despite being a vanilla fragrance, the sweetness is restrained, and the florals (ylang-ylang, lily) feel highly refined; almost like pure extracts. A touch of warm benzoin adds a soft glow without tipping it into heaviness, making the fragrance easily wearable year-round. To me, this is the scent of someone who embraces hedonism yet knows exactly what they want; someone who savors every moment of life. Sand & Skin took me by utter surprise. A well blended and executed beachy profile without being gourmand or the use of coconut. I also love that they evaded the usual direction of jasmine and instead incorporated ylang-ylang; avoiding the essence of sunscreen. I understand that sunscreen is commonly used at the beach, but sunscreen does not represent the beach. Fragrances that are typically associated with beaches don't usually resonate with me for that very reason. "Like a sunny island dream, Sand and Skin is all about the languor and pleasure of a moment of eternity set on a fine sandy beach". This I can relate to. Dreamy, creamy, warm and even powdery. Tactfully done using only wood, resins, vanilla and one yellow floral note. The use of raw materials is always a plus. Floraïku used ylang ylang fractions and vanilla Co2 in this formula. I have been on a long hunt for the perfect daytime scent for Spring and Summer that is just as easy to wear as it is distinctive. Sand and Skin fits that criteria marvelously.

I received a sizable decant of Floraiku "Sand and Skin" when I purchased an expensive full bottle of Creed "Queen of Silk." In reading, I realize Floraiku Fragrances are produced by the same creative forces and owners of Memo Paris Perfumes. I own and LOVE 4-5 Memo Paris Fragrances. Is it any wonder I love Floraiku "Sand and Skin??" To my senses, Sand is Skin is a dense, borderline tropical, vanilla-centric fragrance with evident spiciness and ylang-ylang. Something in the opening provides a wonderful incense note that adds depth and interest to what might (otherwise) be an ordinary vanilla fragrance. The perfume turns a bit powdery and woody in the drydown. The floral notes really shine in the base. Sand & Skin is really lovely. The price point??? IMHO, the pricing makes the Floraiku line prohibitively expensive for most people...certainly for this person. For this, I'm skeptical... Wish a full-bottle was less expensive. And the bottles ARE beautiful...

Oh how I just abhor the top notes, or the ylang-ylang to be more exact, in this perfume 😅. But that’s only for like 30-60 minutes. And then, then it turns into the most beautiful beachy vanilla, that’s not (too) sweet. And it lasts forever! I sprayed it in the evening after a shower on my wrist and could still smell it the next evening. Spectacular longevity. Not that much sillage maybe (I’m not sure) which is exactly how I like my scents: Long-lasting yes but not beast mode. Now I have to ponder if I’m willing to buy something that’s awful (to my nose) for an hour before it’s wonderful for a day 😄 Edit 2 mo later: Either the ylang-ylang has mellowed or I’m starting to like y-y but I’m now in love with this and I’m looking for a deal/partial to make it mine. Edit 2 more mo later: Got a travel size. Looooove it!!

I love this. I also picked up a sample of Cap Camaret largely because of its comparison to Sand and Skin, and the two do echo one another. Sand and Skin opens much more musky, salty-skin, and animalic than Cap. There’s something in the musk that reminds me of Apollonia, but as it dries down, it starts to glow. It becomes warm, creamy, and softly resinous—sun-toasted skin lingering on the beach half an hour past golden hour. By contrast, Cap feels like a seaside holiday. It’s brighter, airier, and more floral, with a breezy aquatic vanilla, though Cap leans a little more sunscreen to me. One is heat on skin; the other is like being coated in summer rather than standing inside it.

I got this as part of a fragrance advent calendar and thought it was nice but not incredible. Wrong. Through wearing it over a few weeks, I’ve fallen in love and have to have it available in my collection at all times. I don’t always feel like I can smell this on myself, but it’s the fragrance I have received the most compliments on. People have said they can smell me when I walk into the room and they want to know what it is. I can smell it on clothes and fabrics days later. Sometimes it smells slightly play-doh-y on me but only if I overspray. Otherwise it’s a warm and floral vanilla. It’s not necessarily worth the price but it brings me happiness and I’ll pay a lot for that.

This smells like straight up dollheads and my little pony toys to me. Takes me back to the 80s/90s toys I had in my childhood. I know FOR A FACT I had at least one toy that smelled EXACTLY like this. Super nostalgic and so beautiful. At least in the beginning of the scent. I just wish it was a tad more powerful and deep. It feels somewhat transparent for what it is. If only this had a bit more ‘‘omph’’ it would be a huge love for me. Still very nice, comforting and beautiful as it is. Plasticy, powdery vanilla. Smells more like a scented product (toy/eraser/candle) than an actual perfume, and I really love that about it.

This is an immediate favorite. It is such a beautiful warm beachy skin scent. It has this creamy mix of vanilla, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang that smells soft, sunwarmed, and expensive without being overly sweet or tropical. It doesn’t have that artificial sunscreen smell that so many beach perfumes do. It smells like actual warm skin after a day at the beach. Leaving you smelling slightly creamy with a delicate floral touch and really natural. It stays close to the skin while also somehow lasting so long on my skin and clothes. Easily one of the most wearable summer fragrances I’ve tried.

I’m obsessed, love at first sniff. Instant signature scent. To me this smells nothing like a beachy summery scent. This is everything I’ve been looking for for my perfect signature scent. Creamy, cozy, musky, clean girl. I can smell the florals and vanilla but everything blends together so seamlessly that there’s no specific pull in any direction. The opening is complex and unique but the dry down is where the magic happens. I thought this smelled familiar and remembered after the dry down that this smells very close to dolce and gabbana the one’s dry down which I used to wear and love.

A high quality fragrance, it’s such a well made and well blended fragrance, moderate projection, gives off the most wonderful calming aroma it’s beautiful. The woody dry down with the vanilla really does smell like you are On a beach listening to gentle waves, you are dozing off in the sun after reading your book. Now I won’t lie, I got mine in the Harrods 2025 advent calendar and have since purchased another from a reseller on EBay. This is the perfect scent to take on vacation or wear on a sunny day sat in the garden chilling out.

I received his in my Harrods Fragrance Advent Calendar and this is possibly my favourite scent from there. This was absolute love at first sniff for me and the presentation is stunning - this fragrance house know how to design a bottle! This to me screams holiday on a warm sandy island it smells luxurious without being obnoxious and I feel expensive when I wear it. The vanilla isn't too loud and its balanced by the musk to be sweet but not cloying. I love this and want a back up bottle

Beautifully executed vanilla based fragrance. Very feminine,cosy and warm. Unik and modern. It does not have anything in common with dior hypnotic poison except that they are both vanilla dominated and both beautiful perfumes. One of my top three vanilla perfumes,the other two are Dior hypnotic poison (the first production) and Gentle fluidity MFK. And all three er beasts, both in projection and longivety. Bravo Floraiku!

I haven't developed a connection with a fragrance for a very long time and the sand and skin was a revelation for me. From the first smell it felt amazing. Soothing vanilla and sandalwood combined with ylang-yalng created an amazing combo. It feels like you're walking in the woods while eating vanilla cake. The sillage is quite moderate, and longevity is amazing, it lasted on me for 10 whole hours! Highly recommend!

I have smelled something similar to this genre before..skin, sunny, vanilla, slightly ozonic however this captures memories of summer when I was a child that no other in the genre have captured so perfectly. It was an instant buy for me. It transports me to multiple places from long ago all at once. True piece of art in a bottle even though it is somewhat simplistic, it is the nuance that elevates this

Got 100ml because i love scent more than a bottle and i need it everyday and alot! On my skin it smells mysteriously resiny and musky, can't get enough of this! In more humid climate it smells like sexy, clean, hot body on the beach 🤩 i dont get any sunscreen or basic smell as other people mention, too deep and quite dark to be called just sunscreen'y. Drydown has some vanilla, but its a mature one.

Bought a sample in March. Can’t wait to get a full-size! Sand and Skin is wearable all year round, no matter what the occasion is. It’s truly unisex: I’ve seen men and women wearing it, and it’s suitable for both of them update: got a full-size a month after this review! Everyone around me loves the scent. Could smell it on my skin even 9 hrs after applying it. Definitely my signature one.

Agree with previous comment saying it's very different on the skin and paper. On paper it's a shy, cold, a hush of a memory of incense but on the skin it's a very complex, deep, gorgeous incense. This scent needs warm skin to fully develop to its potential. Oriental and soft, soft, soft, very shy. Vanilla makes it even better. Beautiful creation. Wishing the longevity was better.

It wears a bit softly but will probably bloom in the heat.

Out of all of my perfumes, this one projects the best. Whenever I wear this I get tons of compliments. This is my favorite vanilla scent for the warmer months, maybe even my favorite vanilla perfume, period. It smells like wind-whipped, salty hair and tanning lotion with sand sticking to sweaty skin.

A slightly incensy vanilla on me. Sweet but not cloying (I hate too sweet perfumes and am not a gourmand fan). It becomes a sexy skin scent within an hour or so. I think it could be a great base for a lot of things as well. I have a sensitive nose, so one spray on each wrist does plenty for me.

Addictive, subtle, sexy, salty, delicate. This isn’t my typical scent profile, and in fact I didn’t understand the hype after sampling it the first couple times, but then as sometimes happens, something just “clicked” and I fell madly in love. Not a safe blind buy, perhaps, but a must-try!

I ADORE Sand and Skin, a top five for me and one of the few that really make my eyes roll into the back of my head (the only other one that genuinely has that affect on me is Dolce Amalfi) It really does smell like hot, sandy skin. Immaculately blended, totally original. Just yummy!

pure sensuality and it keeps bursting throughout the day the warmer my skin gets under the sun i feel like a fairy wearing it reminds me of the movie, a bigger splash small dose goes a long way in the summer, need to see how it performs in the winter

To me this is not a beach scent at all, it's an evening scent, and maybe even more winter jumper. It's the most interesting, spicy vanilla that I've sampled. I think this may have bumped Gentle Fluidity off my vanilla scent wish list

Powdery and creamy with light floral undertones and subtle sweetness. For me it doesn’t smell like ylang much, but rather like some soft yellow flowers: mimosa or maybe acacia. It’s quite cosmetic and feminine - very comforting too.

The sweet, charming opening is enriched with more distinct, rough notes, like warm beach sand with sun-baked seashells. These notes give way to the tranquil sweetness of a pleasant summer day. Sillage close to the skin.

It is a beautiful floral and woody scent with undertones of spice. Beautifully blended with decent projection but still intimate. It is expensive, but the price aside I would recommend it, mostly for spring or autumn.

A warm hug of a scent, comforting, balsamic and sweet. A bit heavy on the incense in the opening, but it quickly calms down, and the vanilla and benzoin takes over. Suitable all year around and perfectly unisex.

People complaining about the price of Floraïku when the bottle is 24 carat gold plated sewn by hand. While these same people spend $400 in a Dior transparent bottle with a sticker on it... 🤡

This is soo good. Smell like incense more specifically light sweet oud incense. But my god the sillage is awful. It’s weaker than a skin scent. It’s as powerful as a scented body shower

Smells like the notes, soft musky and a little sweet. Not too floral, not too sweet. Very well blended and inoffensive. .

Beautiful "skin but better perfume" ,intimate sillage i can vision wearing it in early spring when snow is melting.

So addictive and sensual. LOVE this scent, works in heat and cold and can be worn in most situations.

very warm, summery, beachy aroma. Warm sand aroma. Poor staying power.

I am going to make my best attempt at reviewing something without having any outside input like other people's reactions, videos or reviews. Over the years it has become more and more difficult for obvious reasons. What has also become frustrating and difficult is the complete over abundance of vanilla fragrances. High quality vanilla fragrances, but too many. How are we supposed to judge? At a certain point they all start smelling similar. What is so different about Sand and Skin? For starters, it does smell realistic, or more realistic than other fragrances trying to emulate that particular sand on your skin. I can appreciate that. It's not trashy or cheap or simply too much. That being said, it is quite light for the price. I haven't checked in a while, but I believe it is around $375 for 60 mL?! And they do not sell a larger version. As we all know, it's either 50 mL or 100 mL for the standard. That's not happening here. I will say the bottles are beautiful. And very cool. I will admit I was a sucker for them. I purchased my first around five years ago and the packaging and design were the reason for my purchase. Are the fragrances themselves superior to other brands around the same price? Unfortunately not. But they are good enough! They do fall in line with Japanese ideology and tradition which I also like and is the other reason why I pulled the trigger initially. The fragrances themselves are simple and elegant. They smell natural and are high-quality. They are not shouting at you by any means, but they are there for the people who are paying attention. I do struggle with the price. It's hard for me to recommend this brand to you all because of that price. They do have samples available for a price of course, but it might be worth it to you. Memo Paris is their sister brand for those of you who don't know and they do smell similar. Sand and Skin in particular is a very soft and comforting solar vanilla. The name is a good descriptor because after the fragrance settles down it does feel like warm sand on your skin. Perfect for the end of summer. That's pretty much all I got at this point. I have smelled better, but I have also smelled worse. But! They are in my collection! That says something doesn't it? I think it might be worth your while, so give it a shot. Especially if you are looking for something that is sweet, but elegant and grown up. Perhaps even a bit unisex. I have it on right now and the longer I wear it the sexier I feel. I just also feel broke.

I didn't really want to love this perfume, but I do. Floraiku get a mixed reception (at least in the circles I mix in) are they pretentious, overpriced, Harrods claptrap? or soulful masterworks with a high concept & high end packaging? (and haiku's apparently?) From the very little I've smelled I'm guessing somewhere inbetween. Sand and skin is clearly a minimal work meant to burrow in to the titular, aforementioned skin and permeate your soul. It's hefty with overdosed vanilla, musk and sandalwood aroma chemicals. Something this stripped back is a gamble but I think it pays off here, and although I'm wearing this today having only sprayed on a strip previously I'm getting benzoin and I don't know if it's because I'm looking at the notes but some very very low lying ylang too. As I often say with the best in this genre of overly musky perfume, it's a cheat code for me, even with this much vanilla it's just heavenly. So my pal Ben (from Les Oderants podcast) said it best when he described this as reminding him of '...every ex girlfriend he ever had...' and yet still remains fond of it! He described it more in terms of their remnant, the musky, vanillic base at the heart of many mass market, femme perfumes meaning at the end of night out (the 'business end' as it were...probably why his fond memories are associated with it, winky face) they all smelled like this. One of the most relatable fragrance descriptions I've ever heard, that's exactly what this perfume represents. It's a bit cleverer than that though, there's nothing 'missing' from this perfume, it's deliberately omitted or more accurately 'muted'. Update 01/12/25 So having worn this properly I can confidently say that after several hours the monotony of sand & skin really started to grate, then the monotony of it remaining on my skin the next day despite showering was even more irritating. Then the monotony of it lasting on my hoody or shaket was just plain fucking annoying!!! The vanillic curds and tenacious woody base materials had me tapping out of this one.

Sand and Skin by Floraïku feels like floating in a pool at the Ritz-Carlton Al Wadi villa, tucked in a lush Arabian oasis surrounded by dunes. The hot wind burns your nose, carrying the thick scent of blooming frangipani. Your skin smells like pollen and desire. The perfume is intimate, like a kiss on the neck. It clings close, sultry, heavy with ylang-ylang. It sits in the same universe as Chameleon by Zoologist - both built around ylang and subtle note of skin - just after shower and moisturized with some powdery-scented cream. But Chameleon is full-blown tropics: louder, juicier, with banana and salt. Floraïku, on the other hand, is like a silk shawl in the desert - dry, quiet, and mysterious. The bottle deserves its own praise, a true art object, every detail considered. It’s a pleasure to look at it, hold it, own it - a gem in my collection. There’s way more Japanese aesthetic here than French: waves, cats, dragons, mythology packed in a box. Although personally, I’d swap the seashell for dunes.

This is really good if you like greener, woodier vanillas! It reminded me of Diptyque's Eau Duelle EDP. Resinous, woody, deep & smoky vanilla. Like walking through a forest smoking a pipe, fall time with a chimney burning in the distance. To be honest I dont get "Sand and Skin" from this at all - it does not remind me of summer nor is it beachy. I dont pick up on any ylang ylang. Im not a patchouli lover, but I might be converted now? While its not too heavy, the warm vanilla tones & mellows it well! I really am enjoying the patchouli in here. This also lasts forever on me, I put it on before work and can smell it still by the end of the day. Ive got alot of compliments on it. Beautifully done woody, warm vanilla patchouli fragrance. I see people saying this gets play-dohy... I have worn it a few times and have not experienced that at all. I ended up buying full bottle!

Addictive sunshine. Tender. This goes far beyond any warm fragrance. Reminds me of sunrise and sunset. For all seasons, but definitely shines in the summer: the carefree feeling of a holiday at the beach, at a waterfall or a lagoon.. when you’ve just come out of the water and the wind and the sun embrace and caress you. A soft, warm, sweet and at the same time fresh sensation. I have to highlight the ylang-ylang, vanilla and sandalwood which seem to melt into my skin. Not a sensuality that screams, but a quiet and primitive warmth

Sand and Skin by Floraïku really fits its name. It has this warm, sun-kissed vibe that feels like lying on the beach with the scent of skin, sun, and soft sand in the air. Biggest plus for this fragrance is its versatility. In my opinion it can be worn any time of the year in any occasion by anyone. Not ground breaking but very good all the same. In the opening I get vanilla, woods with a touch of incense. The vanilla transitions into the mid with the sandalwood holding it all together. I wouldn’t own this if it wasn’t for getting it in the Harrods Calendar this year. It’s very reminiscent to my nose of a simple jubilation 40 in the opening. Unisex but possibly more feminine leaning 6.8/10

I think it's okay, it's pleasant and nice, but it is not ground breaking by no means. Opens up with a vanilla wooden smell, that leans feminine and the dry down is very woody, unisex. I agree with the reviews that the dry down is better than the opening, I thought the patchouli woodiness nice. I have tested on a cold day, maybe it's better on a warm weather. I would give a 7.5/10.

Nice sweet spicy vanilla, really reminds me of a fainter version of Dior hypnotic poison. Perhaps a bit generic. I don't get beach from it, or summer, too spicy for that. It's warm but in a cozy way. If you think about playdoh when smelling it then I guess you get that a bit, but it doesn't really jump out. Full price is absurd and not worth it at all but secondhand is alright

I absolutely love this, it is a summer scent in a beachy vanilla spicy kind of way. I don't find it overwhelming, but it was there all day! Depressingly, my other half really did NOT like it on me at all so it won't be a FB for me. Based on that feedback - at the price, I'd definitely sample first as it seems it is polarising.

It’s an odd one... it’s nice, I like it. You can smell the florals. But there’s a spicy element to this that doesn’t evoke summer to me... very nice for autumn/winter... getting pleasant whiffs throughout the wear.

I blind-purchased a 30 ml bottle based on notes and it’s much sweeter than I expected. However, you can definitely tell it’s a high-quality fragrance, I hope it grows on me over time.
