Sleeping on the Roof

Purchased the discovery set after years of waiting to try “Sleeping on the Roof”. Being a green, white floral lover I expected to love this scent , and I do! I’m not sure why the votes are so low , could it be that its longevity is questionable ? Whatever the reason, for me, this is the best predominately LOTV fragrance and despite the price , one day I hope to buy a bottle . My favourite perfume in my twenties was Diorissimo by Dior and that set in motion my love for LOTV scents . Fast forward two years ago when I started on my fragrance journey , I realised I’m not that taken with LOTV as a soliflore. Too green and sharp . I have given away Penhaligon’s and Floris’ LOTV perfumes for this reasons . I currently own Etat Libre D’Orage’s - . Another fleeting fragrance but so beautiful with a sweet , marshmallow LOTV. Sleeping on the roof is greener , not harsh , warmer, and creamier on my skin . A touch powdery . I sprayed it on myself last night as I went to bed . In my dreams I could hear myself comment on the outstanding smell that was enveloping me . I wasn’t sleeping on the roof but I could experience the captivating , white floral journey it personified . It’s a love from me ! 💓💓💓💓

I absolutely LOVE this. LOTV is one of my "forever" florals. I go through phases with most others. I've owned many, hated many and loved few lily of the valley scents. I was surprised when I got this sample, I thought I would get more orange blossom but this comes off as a soliflore. Like many others have commented, this is LOTV done RIGHT! It's clean, it's soft. It's not waxy, suffocating or dated. I've bought 7 samples from this house so far and I have to say, they absolutely fit the vibe they've presented. They're soft, delicate but noticeable - so says hubby. I own Miu Miu and disagree on the similarity. Miu Miu has quite a bit of pepper and woods and feels a little more... jagged. It is much more close to Dior Lucky but not dupes for each other. If you like LOTV, give this a try! Even if you don't, give it a try. It's an easy wear with wonderful performance. I did try to wear in 10 degree weather 2 days ago and it felt very out of place. It was 70 here today (scary) and it was so lovely.

Love at first sniff, and thankfully it stays just as beautiful once it hits the skin. This opens very green and floral with an earthy grounding quality, and there’s something about it that reminds me of banana leaves or fresh greenery. It honestly smells like attending a wedding held in a garden, where the air is filled with flowers and green arrangements rather than heavy perfume. It feels natural, soft, and quietly elegant. The sillage isn’t strong, and part of me wishes it had a bit more punch, but I think its beauty really lies in its delicacy. The performance is actually better than expected for something so airy, staying close to the skin and becoming an intimate scent you enjoy mostly for yourself. I kept catching gentle whiffs of it throughout the day, and it genuinely made me feel calm and happy. It evokes springtime, lying on grass, walking through a garden - a very personal and immersive experience.

I was gifted this.. Wasn't thrilled on it at first.. I was putting my outfit idea together for a breezy outdoor Napa Valley wedding.. Went perfectly with my minimal, ethereal look.. my signature French gal updo, blue silk dress, Brother Vellies pony haired cowboy boots, simple diamond earrings, a splash of blush .. Sleeping On The Roof was the perfect call. All throughout the day I kept getting nice hits of the herbal, delicate floral dewiness, then it would (veryyyy quickly) fade into a musky skin scent. Definitely had to keep re-applying throughout the night and probably used half of the bottle.

After smelling nearly all that Harrods had to offer on a recent trip, I was looking for something new, something that would grab me. This was it! I tried nearly all of the collection and this really jumped out to me. It transported me to a beautiful garden in the middle of summer just as the sun passes over the horizon, the flowers that have been soaked in sun all day get ready for bed, creating this warm, slightly creamy but green fragrance that leaves you feeling relaxed and sleepy. I love this, I guess some people don't like lily of the valley, but if you do, go for this!

An amazing white floral scent. The lily of the valley does kind of overpower everything else, but it's so good I'm not even mad about it. It's also pretty sweet, which may come from the orange blossom, but I'm not sure. Someone told me it reminded them of a retired bath and body works scent from the late 90s called May Bouquet. Lasts for a good amount of time (4hrs or so), radiates 4-6ft (so you'll get plenty of compliments on it), and is the perfect scent for a spring or summer day.

I’ve never seen this brand in person, but the packaging and bottle look beautiful in the photos. This is a safe, lovely Lily of the valley fragrance, with average performance. My favorite part was the opening— as it is with most perfumes—green, dewy and easy to wear, but not to the point of making me want to own it.

Big, tropical white florals. The lily of the valley is beautifully done... soft and dewy, like petals on a humid summer night. The scent is slightly sweet, lightly musky, and rounded out with a touch of amber. This is exactly how I imagine the White Lotus hotels would smell.

A perfect blending if two flowers to create a third one that as mentioned previously - lilac. I think this is both warm and refreshing and would be a great layering fragrance for a sweeter fragrance. This is dewy, sweet and rich with a green base. Nice for spring or summer.

Got a sample of this and it is so so so delightful. Fresh, clean white florals. Unfortunately, it fades really quickly - may just be the sample in my case, but if the real full size fragrance lasts this short a time, it'd be a tragedy. It's really beautiful.

Green white floral with musky undertone just to soften the greenness.. feminine and beautiful, I don't need everything to be bold and have monsters Projection,sometimes simplicity is enough to make me feel beautiful and elegant

Very beautiful, soothing blend of florals. I get a whiff of slight tea aroma as well. So calming and zen, like stargazing on the rooftop, while feeling the gentle breeze of the night carrying the faint scent of distant flowers.

It opened with a blast of lily of the valley and then orange blossom shouted out. It is a nice and comforting scent. I can smell it within arm's length when I first sprayed it but it soon became a skin scent.

I think it’s quite feminine. A very flowery one which Lilly of the valley is popping out. It’s a nice summer perfume.

Lily of the Valley is such a difficult note, especially when it is the main note. There are only 3 I can think of off the top of my head that I really love, and one of those has more going on than primarily lotv. That would be Eldo Don't Get Me Wrong/Yes I Do. The other two are the queen Diorissimo, and as I just recently discovered, Dior Lucky. This is true to the scent of lotv, but leans more towards it's floralcy rather than it's greeness. That's not to say it's completely missing. It's very much part of the entire scent profile of lotv. In this instance, it just comes off more fresh than green, and I enjoy it very much. For all intents and purposes, it's a Soliflore. The orange blossom doesn't stand out particularly. I think it just intensify the floral aspect of the lotv. The musk adds the slightest touch of fluffiness. It's very clean - not animalic or sensuous in the least. I can't detect any amber, so I assume it's just quietly doing it's job grounding the fragrance. I have a Floraïku discovery scent, and this is the first I've tried. It's a definite strong like, but that may turn to love. I'd be happy to find one from the collection that I love enough to purchase a full bottle, because the quality is there, plus the bottles are very beautiful. There are many left to try, so I can't sat whether or not this would be the one. I will say it's a must try for lovers of muguet!!

Sleeping on the Roof. On first spray, the Lily is really strong, almost singular as the only note i could detect. Few minutes later and it diminishes, but only slightly, as the lily of the valley is the feature presentation in this one. Along comes a little mix of musk, for me it seems like its a little dirty, not skanky musk, but a dirty musk, dust or aged like. The amber is almost non existent, i really had to search, and i THINK i may have detected it, but i honestly cannot say for sure. I agree with others, this really does sit on the feminine’s side of the fence, the LOTV firmly pushes the scent this way, and for most id imagine this is the one thing that swings it for them. Is it good? Well yes, it is good. Would i buy it? Perhaps not, only because there are other scents in the Floraiku range im MUCH rather buy, and that lily isnt my favourite of the florals. Blind buy? If you love Lily of the Valley, this is one for you. If not, then you really need to test it first. Does it smell like Diorissimo? Yes, very much so, diorissimo was the epitome of lily, and floraiku has jumped on that bandwaggon full steam

A very thick in-your-face floral. I don't mean that it necessarily fills entire rooms, I mean it literally feels like an enormous flower with fantasy-sized proportions is put right in front of me. The floral note, while not loud in projection, is very bold in showing what it is when noticed within arm's length. The floral aspect is also sharp, clean, and airy. The musks in the base are immediately present to make the opening have more dimension, and a while later, I can notice the amber adds a nice warmth to the fragrance, complementing the clean, almost cold, sharpness of the florals and the white musks to create a yin yang of opposite but balancing notes. As a guy who wears mostly unisex scents, this fragrance is just a bit too feminine for me to wear comfortably going out but it's a very enjoyable scent, especially in the Springtime. I only have a sample of course, but as usual for Floraiku, gorgeous bottle design, one of my favorites from the house, the deep red contrasted by the light blue-greens.

This perfume is an ode to the lily of the valley. From its pure form, it quickly transforms into a different shade – a true muguet that fills the air during a warm night in late May. It’s a darker shade of floral, more muskier, more linfatic. It’s dewey, wet and green. A quarter of an hour in, the orange blossoms oil comes through, not overpowering the lily of the valley but rather bringing out its fresher side. All the elements of the perfume are combined to elevate the muguet, which is at all times the main (possibly only) note. It has a good longevity, and when it dries down the muskier side of the lily of the valley emerges. It’s a subtle perfume without much sillage. I haven’t smelled anything like this before, except the plant itself in real life. I think it does a great job at recreating the scenario I mentioned earlier. It’s beautiful, but it’s not a scent I would want to wear.

I saw a lot of people saying this is underwhelming and while it’s definitely not the most complex scent I’ve tried, I find it really beautiful. I do like lily of the valley but for me it is very subtle in this scent. When first sprayed, Sleeping on the roof is very wet and green with that slight lotv note, followed by a warmer orange blossom with the amber musk underneath. I usually get longer than average wear out of perfume and this lasted on me for about 6 hours before I could no longer smell it. It sits very close to the skin, and is more of an intimate/personal scent. I’m still working through my sample set so I’m not sure how this holds up against the rest of the brand’s scents for me. I could see myself buying a travel spray of this but not a full bottle.

I am fascinated by the brand - from the bottles, to the names, to the actual notes. This fragrance smells very simple, feminine and lovely. It's straight up lily of the valley to my nose, but a bit fresher and less waxy that it usually is. Note that I don't particularly like florals and LOTV is something I usually avoid. I don't even know why i got a sample - probably because i like the name (LOL). But I enjoyed testing this so much that I wore it two days in a row. I am not sure I will buy a full bottle, but I would consider it. I am guessing that the more I wear this the more I will like it. And it doesn't smell like anything else I've smelled.

Beautiful green lily fragrance. It's like a Spring morning. Some say this is a skin scent, but as I find often happens, this is actually very loud on me (in a good way). I used to wear the original Miu Miu fragrance obsessively, which this reminds me of, although Sleeping on the Roof stays green for the entire wear and I always found Miu Miu to settle into the musk much more. Given the price of a full bottle of a Floraiku fragrance, I might just pick up another bottle of Miu Miu instead. I did always get compliments when I wore that.

I really like the clean lines of this one. As many previous reviewers have quite rightly said, it is a very uncomplicated fragrance, but it is also crisp, airy, and a very pretty but definitely green floral.. CLEARLY a floral, no hiding from that one. I do get why folk compare it to a laudry detergent, but actually to me it has more to it than that. It is never going to set the world a light, but it is a beautiful, well blended scent in its own right. Probably not an FB for me, but definitely considering a travel size.

Starts off with a light fresh lily of the valley and a slight fruity feel, almost like green bananas. This kind of scent has been done before: Something Blue, Live in Love, Miu Miu, etc. This one is very elegant however and the quality is way above and beyond those mentioned. Very pretty but not really unisex; very nice, but I question the price point. This is a solid fragrance that a LOTV fan would probably eat up. Even though the amber plays out nicely in the dry down, some might react to this with a shrug.

To me it's a Jasmine & botanical Banana trees ! The missing notes from its pyramid (not mentioned by Fragrantica) are heliotrope, verbena, and sandalwood. It's a musky fragrance, white and crisp. Aldehydic neroli and lily of the valley, reminiscent of Diorissimo but without hedione. For lovers of white and green flowers, it possesses an earthy, fresh dampness characteristic of soil after rain. Smells like tropical green Banana trees.

I was pretty surprised by it's longevity, it lasts 6hrs while it's sillage is so weak. The musk is strong. It's very green white floral scent, and I detected narcissus as well. This is a good one but nothing too special, reminds me of Lady Blanche from Penhaligon's, but Lady Blanche is sharper.

Wow this smells so good! Thought Floraiku was just about pretty bottles and insane pricing for mediocre scents, but this is making me rethink my stance on the brand. A high end LOTV with an amazing green opening. I don't get air freshener at all, must try if you're into florals.

I didn't think much of it at first, but while testing it got many compliments at work so I had to get a full bottle. Just like many other floraiku fragrances you have to give it time.

Fresh lily and orange blossom with musks that kinda does smell like a freshener in a nice way imo but might come off too sharp which definitely contributes to that. I found this to be a pretty long lasting 8+ hours which shocked me you get a faint bit of musk and amber still and has small projection. Very basic to me but not bad I feel this is easily repeatable and a little forgettable

Definitely a spring scent, but I can't decide if it's spring-summer or spring-fall: it's quite strong in winter, so it might be overpowering in summer! Reading the reviews, I totally get the "cut grass" scent!! On me, sillage is miniscule, but longevity is great--easily over nine hours. I have noticed with all the Floraiku scents that they flourish in humidity.

No, there aren't any Lily-of-the-Valley! There are LILAC. I think - it's very similar to Cricket song! On me both are Lilac and almost not anything else. Very interesting. But in Sleeping on the Roof are something green too. Not safe blind buy. If you love Lily of the Valley - you could get disappointed. The most beautiful Lily of the Valley is Molinard Mouget.

White floral and soapy. Young and more unisex than most of the enigmatic flower fragrances from Floraïku. It's clearer and fresher, like sitting in the yard after a refreshing shower with hair still wet, enjoying the once in a while cool breeze of summer night. The heat on body and on the ground are all washed off. Also quite like bathrobe in hotel......

it is a very mature scent. The green-grassy feeling was so pungent. But if you are lily of the valley lover you will appreciate it because it stayed from beginning to the end. The amber was so lovely after 6 hours of wearing and I notice something sweet like date after 8 hours. I will give this to my mom / grandma. Amazing durability.

Very uninteresting scent. Not bad, but nothing special about it. The price point puzzles me. The packaging and the presentation are astonishing, but they really need to work with the juicy. I'm not against simplistic fragrances, but this is just uninteresting.

Clean, fresh and very simple scent of LOTV. I don't like the freshness about it, makes it smell a bit like a deodorant. Love the red bottle, but not worth the price, in my opinion. Try Dusita's Cavatina instead. Unless you like quite basic florals.

I definitely smell the white floral lily of the valley and orange blossom but it also has a fresh green, leafy scent as well. It's not for me but I can see why others might like it.

Surprisingly bitter and green. Not that interesting. Used up almost my entire sample, just in a few hours, has no projection. Pleasant, light skin scent. 5/10

— Floraiku, a British niche perfume brand, certainly doesn’t skimp on packaging costs. Whether the fragrance itself is worth the price is left to the consumers to decide. By chance, I got a whole set of "Sleeping on the Roof" at a low price. The scent is quite nice, but what pleased me more was that I didn't spend the money myself— not really full-bottle-worthy, no, not even an extravagant bottle. Main scent profile Lily of the Valley Scent description This fragrance is actually quite subtle, but as you get closer, it unexpectedly comes at you with a strong presence: The kind of dizzying "melon note" is overly dramatic. Imagine feeling extremely carsick, facing a freshly cut melon but without any sweetness , yet carrying a "acquatic" aura reminiscent of viewing a waterfall from afar: This is what "Sleeping on the Roof" evokes for me. After the initial burst of melon, the scent gradually morphs into the shape of lily of the valley: a faint shadow-like little white flower, accompanied by a ghostly greenness. Idle Remarks Oddly enough, when I tried the same fragrance several years ago, I didn’t associate it with lily of the valley at all, but rather with an unopened white rose bud, softer than a young girl’s fingertips. The latest version now seems to fit the scent profile better: it’s unmistakably lily of the valley. Though personally I preferred the previous version. Speaking of pricing, a bottle going for over $300 might not be just a rip-off: genuine natural lily of the valley oil is indeed very expensive, surpassing common offerings like natural rose or jasmine. Given such rare raw materials, it's understandable to make a big deal out of it— For instance, Guerlain releases a limited edition "Muguet" (Lily of the Valley) perfume annually. It was $600 a bottle few years ago, and the price increases every year. It was probably a more legitimate investment than bitcoin. I once tried it without knowing the price, and thought the fragrance was supremely natural, as if a bottle of fresh air stolen from a secluded valley, almost devoid of the common artificial traces found in lily of the valley perfumes (melon, green, aquatic notes, etc.): it is ethereally divine. I thought buying a bottle of this at the regular price point of a regular niche fragrance was a fair deal, but then I learned the price: never mind, this is not for us mere mortals. Now coming back to it, if this Floraiku "Sleeping on the Roof" truly uses natural lily of the valley oil, selling at half the price of Guerlain's, then it's a philanthropic effort. However, with my limited experience, I really can't tell what’s in it; I'll leave that to the fortunate ones to decide for themselves.

Yeah it's lily of the valley, orange blossom, and musk. But there is also a loud GREEN note not quite represented in the pyramid. This greenness is really sharp and kind of interesting, like sticking your face in a freshly mown lawn on a dewy humid morning. The green is so screechy that I start imagining all the individual blades of grass crying in pain (they were just mown you see), releasing their stores of bitter, sour chemicals meant to deter grazing animals. It's a bit much

A proverbial "scrubber," in my case. Yes, technically the smell is recognisable as white flowers of some sort. It's also recognisable as the stench of the duty free at whatever low-cost carrier airport terminal you happen to be overnighting in because your goddamn bus got held up at the Polish border coming out of Ukraine. So disappointing, what with the lovely name and beautiful packaging...

The beginning is a vivid white rosebud: its dewy petals have a subtlely green undertone. Tenderer than hands of young girls. Gradually the slightest hint of sour hard-candy tone and soapy note (orange blossom) starts to seep out, so does the underneath sweetness brought by amber.

I'm usually very into green notes and white florals, but this one isn't fresh so much as sharp and bitter. I can't help but imagine this is what my cat tastes when she's chewing on the grass outside.

Fresh floral - upon first spray, it's heavy on the orange blossom, although, it's fresh so it's pleasant. After dry down, it becomes more green and all I get is a a white floral mosquito repellent.

It's a lot of musk, fades into a bit of Lily of the Valley before it vanishes. Possibly useful for layering, but otherwise, Varvatos Artisan Pure or Guerlain Idylle will do better.
