London Poppy

Love it! I just fell for it on first whiff. Heaven knows what sunflowers smell like cos none of mine had a scent but it works wonderfully here with the citrus and jasmine notes. It does have that composite flower feel to it. A bit green and sappy. A scent familiar to us gardeners. Inevitably the citrus notes wain a little and then you get the apricot blossom. Now it's a wonderful juicy mix of apricot blossom, jasmine and lots of sappy sunflower. It's a shame the citrus don't last longer but that's the nature of the note. Its a floral but it's balanced with that green sappy smell that keeps it feeling fresh and modern. Its a shame the longevity and sillage are moderate at best but considering the very reasonable price point you can afford to respray through the day.

London poppy is really a lovely scent, a bit of a confusing name tough. On my skin It's sour orange/citrus and neroli, with a touch of that aquatic sea note, the sunflower adds a bit of a nutty warmth with the florals and woods in the background. It's sweet, clean and fresh, some would probably say generic but in a good way. It's unisex but leans a bit more on the feminine side to me.

It smells like fresh seeds of sunflower! I love it! reminds me of my childhood, because we had sunflowers in our garden. Perfect for spring and summer.

I really like London Poppy. I just wish that it lasted more than a few hours. I don't normally have a problem with longevity, but this is gone very quickly, it's lovely while it lasts though. I guess it's hot today so maybe that could be the issue? Maybe I should try it in colder weather? I agree with previous reviewers that this is sour orange/neroli, tempered by the aquatic sea note. The sunflower accord adds a spicy warmth and the jasmine peaks through but stays in the background with the woods. It feels clean and fresh, and in the dry down, it is perfectly poised between masculine and feminine. It smells like a luxury mini soap in an upmarket hotel. I don't understand the name of this scent with respect to the perfume notes themselves, since London Poppy doesn't have poppy in it at all, but poppies are essentially scentless, so I guess it's maybe the idea of a poppy? The concept behind the name is discussed on the Floral Street website, which talks about London being "as tough as everlasting poppies" and seeing the "sun through the clouds". I guess since London Poppy dates from 2017, this could be a reference to the London Bridge and Borough Market attack, where one of the Police search dogs was called Poppy and was awarded the canine equivalent of an OBE for her bravery. If so, I wear this fragrance with pride. If I'm wrong, then I guess this fragrance name can mean what you want it to mean and no one's judging. EDIT: I contacted Floral Street to ask about the name: no it wasn't the dog that inspired the name, just poppies growing in pockets of wasteland around London, but they agree that the dog story fits!

Fresh citruses and white florals, mostly jasmine and sunflower. A little aquatic because of the sea note. It is somewhat dry, which makes me reach for it more during rainy days than hot summer days (I prefer more juicy and watery perfumes in the heat). In the dry down, you can smell more of the woody notes. I wear it to brighten up the day. It does wake me up with its citrus explosion in the initial spray, which I like during gray and dull days. It reminds me of a jasmine flavoured soap I used to buy. It is clean and light so I think it is a perfect formal scent. Definitely unisex. I wear it to the office almost every day. Lasts pretty good on clothes. Overall, I like it. I'm not obsessed but it is a nice freshie. It reminds me of something from my childhood, maybe the sunflowers?

Why is this called London Poppy and what is the sunflower doing in the notes list? Both flowers don't have much of a floral smell. And if they had, I don't think that they would smell like this fragrance. It's a nice casual scent with lots of orange and lemon, a salty seabreeze note and some clean jasmine with a hint of synthetic woody notes underneath that. It smells very sporty, like you should wear it on a bike tour, at the beach, for a workout or generally for an active lifestyle. It's clearly a summer scent, but it still smelled good while I tested it now in February and had an above average lasting power for a ctirus scent. Not really my style, but quite nice. I especially enjoyed the saltiness of the marine notes mixed with the sweet orange.

London Poppy – Floral Street (unisex) I bought the brand’s fragrance wardrobe with twelve different samples, and the first one I tried was London Poppy. It opens with a beautiful, cheerful burst of orange, though this is soon overtaken by a very zesty lemon note. To my nose, it starts off quite feminine and then becomes more masculine as it develops. At the beginning it projects rather well, but after a while it sits closer to the skin and lasts a good six hours or more, which is excellent for a citrus fragrance. I must admit I don’t quite understand the name – it doesn’t really evoke London for me, and even less so poppies. It feels far more like Italy in spring or summer: bright, citrusy and joyful!

I received this after winning a Facebook giveaway of the discovery set from Floral Street. This is one of the more unisex leaning ones in the collection although it’s definitely on the more feminine leaning side of the fragrance spectrum. Quite a screechy opening to me which I wasn’t the biggest fan of but it’s another in where the fragrance is best in its drydown. Reasonably priced and a perfect spring summer reach. A lovely combination of citrus, floral and marine notes

I'm testing these out. I got a sample packet. So, this one is very nice. Has a bit of sweetness to it. A very safe daytime perfume. I am getting the feeling that these are going to have their own DNA running throughout the line. So, I don't know. I don't think I will purchase a FB of this one either. It's nice, but not enough of a standout to make me scream for more more more.... Give them a try though, you just might find your signature fragrance. Now I can move on.....

A very pretty scent - instantly you are hit with the warm citrusy and grassy notes that linger for a while, as it dries down you are left with a sweet floral, still with that hint of lemon. Towards the end of its life span you are left with a somewhat soapy sweetness that feels as fresh as the top notes. I saw a lady at Floral Street describe this as (with words to the effect of) "a fresh blast perfect for the London city streets'.

It’s a bit weird that a fragrance called London Poppy smells like orange and sunflower... The opening is a bit sharp but don’t let that scare you away, the dry down is actually really beautiful! I’m seriously considering putting this aside for a future trip to London. It would be an absolute dream walking around Hyde Park or going for afternoon tea wearing this scent! I don’t need a big bottle tho...

I never get compliments on my perfumes but I had someone tell me that I smell very good and clean when I was wearing this one. Specifically, like Marc Jacob’s Daisy. The more I spray it, the more it just smells like freshly squeezed citrus. Which is nice. There is a unique sunflower seed note in there but it fades quickly.

Probably my favourite of the line. Reminds me a little of Jo Malone Wild Bluebell except this has that hint of earthy floral that the rest of the floral street line has, and it also has like a musky shampoo and citrus vibe. Clean, pleasant and pretty very easy to wear in warmer weather.

Oh what a beautiful citrusy floral. I pick up lemon notes in this and I love the fresh bright scent. Really nice but longevity on this is what puts me off. If the longevity on this improved I would buy this on repeat

I spritzed this and immediately recognized it as something I wore in the past. It is a DEAD RINGER for Jean Paul Gualtier's Fragile EdT (which is also Juicy OG, and Burberry Brit).

Opens with a big burst of citrus. Refreshing and bright. The citrus softens very quickly and the floral notes develop. Sometimes it’s smells more floral and sometimes more citrus.

I love the aquatic note in this. It has a pretty long longevity and smells like fresh laundry.

Smells like a very good traditional french milled floral soap

London Poppy by Floral Street is a pretty scent, but definitely something you have smelled before. It's an upscale version of a generic fresh floral scent, that you recognize but aren't sure what it reminds you of. Jasmine mixed with lemon and fruity notes gives the odor profile of honeysuckle, which is a pleasant surprise when I catch that side of the fragrance. For me, though, the sea notes kind of overtake this perfume and give it a masculine cologne vibe that I don't love sniffing directly. The next morning, after a heavy application, London Poppy still lingers, smelling kind of like a light tea fragrance, even though there is no tea listed. I like smelling it best in this way, warmed on the skin and just hovering around me - it was a pleasant way to wake up. To others, you will smell like a Glade or Febreze plug-in. My husband came home and said that the house smelled good, and wouldn't believe that I hadn't turned on one of our plug-ins. I told him to smell me and then he realized: "Oh, it is you!" So, make of that what you will. If you want to smell like lovely air freshener, London Poppy is definitely for you. Probably a good one for offices, people will love being around you but won't know that it's you brightening their day. A bit pricey for an air freshener, though!

Updating my review of this perfume, a couple years later...I've had a lot more opportunities to sniff different perfumes and while what I said still holds, I believe I can give a better description. On first spraying, I get a little sweetness before a subtle citrus comes out. In the middle, some mix of florals that result in a shampoo like smell. It's fairly subtle and mild if I just use a spray or two, and projects maybe arms length. I applied to my forearms, and I barely get any whiffs of it if my arms are down. It's young and fresh, more for an older teen or someone in their early 20s. It's casual, but could be worn just about anywhere. More for spring/summer. 11/19/19: Nice clean sugary scent that works great for the office. It doesn't seem to have much projection. Inoffensive and safe.

So I’m pretty new to this world of fragrance (although I’ve found a lot of transferable skills from being a wine enthusiast, and I do wonder if there is a link between wine and fragrance lovers), and so I’m really still developing my nose. But for me London Poppy is the most genericy genric woman’s perfume I’ve ever smelled. I genuinely can’t decipher any of the notes aside from Jasmine and vague Other floral ness. It feels flat and boring. Sure it’s pretty, but for its price there are many more fragrances With so much more personality

this is the first really citrusy-floral fragrance i’ve ever tried and i had very mixed feelings. it lasted incredibly long but it always felt like it overstayed it’s welcome, i was always waiting for it to fade away (or maybe i always sprayed a bit too much...) there’s this sharp note that always turned me off, though i’m not sure exactly what it was, maybe the citrus with something else? and i think that’s why it was so ‘meh’ for me. i got quite a few compliments on it though, i just think it smelled too outdoorsy for me!

Citrusy floral, with bright lemon and sunflower. I'm a little confused why the marketing for this is red and not yellow? And why a poppy and not a flower that is in here? Should this have been Sunflower Pop? Strange. There's an unexpected savory note to this - almost like Fritos? I honestly kind of like it, but it was a surprise. The sea note in here twists the fruity floral into something a little less sweet and therefore more wearable for me. I'm still not decided how I feel about this one.

A bit harsh and synthetic in the opening. There is something off-putting here but I can't identify what it is. Certainly not my favorite from FS but not my least favorite either. It's also probably the weakest performer in the bunch in terms of longevity, sillage, and projection.

Lemon-y smelling at first, fresh and unobtrusive. Leans a little masculine - a nice, safe choice for a spring or summer day. Dries down into a powdery, slightly floral fragrance but fades pretty fast

Pleasant enough. I’ll use the sample but I won’t buy a bottle. The citrus fades quickly and on me it smells like clean laundry/dryer sheets.

London Poppy is a generic floral scent with lots of unnatural, synthetic notes in the mix. I think this would work well as a commercial dryer sheet scent.

*shrugs* this is so generic, almost feels like cleaning supplies...

Smells like pine very car air freshener to me

Bought a London Poppy sample. Extremely sweet, young smell but the scent makes me feel super nauseous after wearing it for a few hours. Gonna bin the sample 🤮

London Poppy is Floral Street's brightest, freshest, most citrus fragrance. Orange and lemons dominate the top notes, but there is enough apricot blossom to keep the fragrance a floral rather than a citrus. Neroli in the middle notes keeps the citrus vibe going and brightens the jasmine, and the marine accord adds a salty freshness. Even the dry down feels fresh due to the hinoki wood in the base notes. The only quibble I have with this perfume is the name. The poppy isn’t a flower that has a strong association with the city of London for me personally. Varieties of poppies in red, orange, and yellow do grow in England, but if you want a perfume that smells of poppies look elsewhere, because it’s no where to be found in this fragrance.

Fresh marine notes with generic floral undertones and a very synthetic, abrasive base. Super clean and fresh but not in a very pleasant way, it reminds me of laundry soap. No I don't think this is horrible, but it is not something I need, I'm happy that I just got the samples and not a full bottle. This is giving me a headache. Second scent from this brand that provoques unpleasant symptoms...and I usually don't get headaches from perfume. First scent was wonderland peony, it gave me a lot of nausea, now a couple of days later, London Poppy is giving me a headache. I guess this house might not be right for me.

Not a fan. Like Shushkin, I am also confused as to what poppies or sunflowers actually smell like, although this did bring back a faint memory of the Sunflowers fragrance (not one I know well, so experts of the Arden may disagree). So, with plenty of imagined gentle meadow flowers the result is generically floral with some uplifting citrus and sweetened with fruit. Unfortunately the result smells like shampoo/body wash fragrance - pleasant but not something I'd pay to spray on myself.

I initally fell in love.The beginning has lemon surrounded by a soft cloud of jasmine that makes it ethereal and luminous in a very simple way. And this is great on a paper strip. However the ph of my skin, which sometimes doesn't seem to catch the lighter part of fragrances, brings out a reminiscent note of Calvin Klein CK One and this brings down my interest. I've tried all samples from Floral street and this one is, for sure, THE clean and crispy fragrance from their line.

I like London Poppy more than I expected. There's the initial wave of citrus and watery notes, but the sunflower brings an earthy nuttiness - the seeds of the "poppy", I suppose. Overall, this is a trail mix by the sea, but more appealing than that sounds. Nuts and seeds and driftwood and ocean, framed in florals. It smells pretty synthetic to my nose, and it's neither reminiscent of London nor poppy flowers, but it's a nice approximation of a seaside bohemian picnic.

At first I get something like a room full of lemon and poppy seed muffins and then it develops into a scent that reminds me of a Revlon shampoo an older girl I knew would use. Then it settles on a smell that is part interior decor shop part beauty salon. Maybe someone people want to smell like those things. For me it is a pass.

I literally jolted when this hit my nose, very masculine and I would like this on a man but not on me I also don't want to be in the same room for the initial spray. I would be very happy for my partner to have this on the bathroom counter instead of the usual ugly mens fragrance bottles.

This was the only scent in the Floral Street discovery set that I enjoyed, although I agree with others it's a fairly nice but inoffensive/generic citrussy floral. Really wanted to like Floral Street for it's eco credentials but really did not! Must be missing something...

I bought my pre-teen daughter the sample pack and this was her favourite so I bought her a small bottle because it suits her. It’s a lively, sweet girly scent that makes her feel really grown up when she wears it. The bottle is very pretty as well.

A light citrus with a soft, sweetish floral underpinning. It's a nice everyday scent. As a namesake flower, Poppy seems like a particularly strange choice to me - osmanthus would be closer to it, in my opinion.

A clean, fresh jasmine dominated scent. London Poppy reminds me of J'adore in that it has a similar sunny and warm feeling to it. Works well in the heat (32°c+) and doesn't become cloying or overpowering.

Only left a positive review as this smells so nice; can't stop smelling it but I'd recommend buying this in a candle instead
