Wild Vanilla Orchid

“Fresh Green Vanilla Bookstore” Wild Vanilla Orchid was created by Jerome Epinette, who is the same perfumer as Vilhelm Poets of Berlin, which was created one year after this. Wild Vanilla Orchid is really nice and took a little while to grow on me, but I do love it now. Poets of Berlin is almost an identical fragrance to this. Both are green, fruity, woody and fresh vanilla scents. I started with a 10 mL travel spray and am almost 3/4 finished and know a full bottle will be ordered soon. The first time I wore this it was unsettled and smelled mostly like sweet sawdust. I thought it was odd and unpleasant. Unsure what happened but subsequent wearings brought out more fruity and green nuances and also the airy fresh vanilla. This is a unique, fresh and green vanilla scent (non-gourmand) with a subtle woody side that’s almost like papyrus or specifically a paperback book. I think of it as having a “bookstore” basenote. The greenness is gentle and vegetal, not at all sharp, bracing or mossy. It’s a pleasant, cheerful, easy-going and casual scent. I find it eclectically sweet and love the gentle green (bamboo?) nuances. Other than Poets, I’d compare this to YSL Manifesto, although that one is designer style while this has a quirky niche quality. I haven’t tried anything else from Floral Street but this one is a winner. Longevity and sillage are solidly moderate (+/-6 hrs) 10/10 for me, it’s a great find. LOVE it and have been wearing it a lot lately. PS bought a 100 mL bottle. Love it. I think the bottle & packaging are fun, too. Vegan, sustainable and all that good stuff.

Whoa! Now THIS is unique (to me, anyway - I must admit I'm not super into gourmands so my knowledge of vanilla frags is limited). It immediately opens intensely woody and I almost wrote it off then and there but thankfully it quickly morphs into a green + fresh scent with vanilla that sweetens the longer it sits on my skin. Overall it's a very "designer perfume" scent profile so perhaps not all that unique in the grand scheme, but it's definitely a unique take on vanilla. I don't even go for scents this green usually but I'm super digging this! I'd say this is unisex. Also, it's strong. Definitely take a "less is more" approach when spraying this! Edit: It just clicked in my head why it feels so familiar! It does, indeed, bare some resemblance to Byredo's untitled perfume (which I ultimately didn't buy because of the price point). NICE!!!!!!!!! Edit 2: Ack. In the late drydown (like 2 hours before it fully disappears from the skin) the musk is soooo strong and it's the piercing, screechy, headache-inducing kind... NOT NICE!!!! I'm going to try wearing it a couple more times because it's absolutely beautiful up until that point but most likely I'm going to have to purge this from my collection :( What a shame!

Wild Vanilla Orchid is a strong woody, green, vanilla bean, and somewhat floral very vanilla orchid fragrance! It also has the note of vanilla in the top notes and vanilla bean as a base note, so the vanilla stays the entire time and is really nice! It's not a baking, vanilla extract vanilla, but it's definitely vanilla! So, if you're looking for a gourmand, edible vanilla, this isn't the one. It is a more unique vanilla if you would want to try it out, I'd suggest a decant, especially as much as it costs, I definitely don't think it would be a safe blind buy. I think this is overpriced for what it is. I think it's worth about half of what they charge, so I really wouldn't want to pay more than $50 for this. Thank goodness this was a present! Lol I love all different types of fragrances and I do love all types of vanilla too. This gets a solid like from me. It's not a love and I don't reach for it often. I do enjoy it when I wear it, but it's maybe a 7/10. It's kind of rich, so maybe best worn in Autumn or Winter.

This one turned my opinion of vanilla on its head. I ordered a completely different perfume from a reseller on eBay which was supposed to be Chypre Sublime. The box was correct, however Wild Vanilla Orchid was inside instead. I was instantly pissed, not only for losing on a gamble but that what was in its place was one of my least favorite scents; vanilla. But lo and behold it’s nothing like the vanillas I smell out in society that make my nose cringe at a choking wall of BO and warm sugar. This is raw woody vanilla without intense sweetness. It opens with an almost cooling effect as well, a sensation akin to menthol without the pungent mint. As the fragrance ages on the skin the vanilla shifts more to the back seat and the woods & orchid steal the show in the dry down. All around a surprisingly gorgeous and easy to wear floriental. While unexpected it fits into my collection as if there were always a spot waiting for it. I still haven’t gotten to try Chypre Sublime yet though. 💔

The first time I smelled this at Anthropologie a few years back, I was a newbie to fragrance, and I thought this was the most elegant and wealthy scent. This was the scent of ladies who owned large homes in Nantucket and Montauk (this was before "quiet luxury" was a was a lifestyle and personality). Think: Victoria Grayson from Revenge. Now that my nose is much more experienced, do I still think this? No. But do I still love this? Yes. So much so I just acquired a 50ml bottle from Sephora (it was recently on sale for $63). I am a sucker for all things vanilla, and this did not disappoint. It's not an edible, baked dessert gourmand. It's woody and floral, which plays up the greener aspect of vanilla. I struggle with fragrances in the summer because my favorite notes are ones that typically play better in cooler weather, but this is one fragrance that features vanilla and scintillates in the summer heat. Good projection and quite long lasting to boot.

I blind-bought this and hated it at first, so much so that I wanted to give it away. I stashed it away for a couple of months and revisited it. Now it's a very strong like. I think the opening is a bit challenging, it feels synthetic and the vanilla is too cakey/sickly. But, after 10 mins or so I pick up on the green notes which give it a lovely balance and tame the vanilla. I love a good green vanilla (one of my favorites is Eau Duelle, which has more wood) and this fits the bill. The bamboo and cassis keep things interesting and not one-dimensional. The scent is very unique and lasts 6+ hours on me. The dry down is my favorite part, despite not being listed, I get notes of light musk and vanilla. I have yet to smell POB but if it’s a more refined version of this I will love it. Give it a chance to evolve and don't judge it based on the opening is my advice.

Wild Vanilla Orchid is the Floral Street I expected to love the most and I do really like it! It reminds me of Aura Sensuelle, more so than Aura EDP. Fluffy, fruity, sweet, indistinct, smooth, white flowers on chewy green vanilla. WVO is a little more interesting than Aura Sensuelle because it also has a pleasantly, boozy, aged-book-paper-y patchouli that sometimes even smells like labdanum's musky resin. There is a hint of spice but I would not call it spicy, just warm. The drydown shifts surprisingly masculine as it loses the fruity-floral tang and gets more sandalwoody. I would categorize it as unisex the same way Angel and Hyptonic Poison are unisex. I sprayed it yesterday night and its still wafting off my arm 11 hours later. Definitely a relative to Decadence and Aura but WVO is its own perfume too.

Bright but soft, like a champagne-gold silk catching the mid morning sun on a crisp, breezy day. Lightly sweet and very green, like a field of mostly wild grasses with the occasional honeysuckle bush warmed by the sun nearby. This is nothing like Dama Bianca to me, despite the sort of similarity in the listed notes. So I'm not really sure what that's about. This is basically Poets of Berlin, but less sharp and slightly more vanillic end-to-end (vs. just at the end). Smelling them side by side, it feels like there's no reason to buy Poets of Berlin anymore, lol. This scent is just so nice. I really love this perfume. I find those softened edges make it easier to reach for compared to Poets of Berlin, which these days I've found myself reaching for things that are easy, safe, comfortable.

What a wonderful way to handle the vanilla note. The Perfumer has stopped it becoming too gourmand by adding the generic floral notes, bamboo and sandalwood. There is the magic of the cassis (blackcurrant leaf) and bamboo acting like a unique (to me) accent note. It has a sweetness but it is low key and perfect. This scent has an organic intensity. You could imagine some exotic flower blooming in a fancy greenhouse emitting this delicious and intoxicating scent. It's got to be an orchid hasn't it. This is one for nightwear and seducing your man. Rich, yet not heavy and headache inducing. It lures you in like a moth to a flame. Reality is a blur and all is lost. Good longevity and moderate sillage.

I see there is Vanilla in the name, and listed as a prominent note, however when I spray it, I only smell sweet and fruity; missing any Vanilla. I do love the scent, it smells light and happy, and wear it often. It reminds me of a bottle of Escada Sunset Heat I got from my friend over ten years ago. Nothing quite like BBW, maybe a tad feminine like a sweet Victoria's Secret spray. This eau de parfum also didn't last long on me, and reminded me of an eau de toilette in its longevity. I lotioned before spraying, did my classic over spray, and still nothing after an hour. Maybe I just went nose blind to it. I wonder what it would be like mixed with a more heavy Vanilla scent.

The perfect Goldilocks perfume for vanilla lovers!! More fresh and floral at first but dries down to this beautiful soft, warm, sweet scent that lasts ALLLL DAY. Vanilla-heavy but not in a sickly sweet way which I think has other fragrances like Vanilla Woods teetering juuuust into headache-inducing territory - this has none of that. Clean and cosy at the same time, this is the kind of perfectly balanced scent the dead wife at the start of movie would wear. I have the 1.5mL decanter from the Floral Street discovery set and I will for sure be getting a full size bottle. This and Ylang-Ylang Espresso were my two favourite scents but this FAR outdoes YYE on longevity.

It’s definitely a good 95% match to Poets of Berlin!! Sadly longevity included 😂😂 but for the price point I don’t mind over spraying or reapplying! There is a very slight mossy greeness(which I like) added in with the familiar opening but it leaves in a matter of seconds. I’m so excited!! Also the distinct blueberry in POB does add a little more candy like fruitiness than there is here. There is still sweetness and fruit but not as distinct! Also the patchouli note doesn’t stick around as long either, a win in my eyes. But yes in the air and without major scrutiny this is POB!!

This is so beautifullllllllllllllll! It's warm, fruity and floral. I don't get much (or any) vanilla until it's dried down to a skin scent. Opening burst is a lush green, pineapple-y thing. And then I get the sweetest scent of florals mixed with something akin to fruit juice. But in a way that's evocative and lovely - not childish. Most have rated this for fall but no shame I will be wearing this all summer. I'll go light on the trigger though as I can imagine it becoming too stifling in the heat. Ugh. Love this stuff - I was never one for floral scents until now.

This is damn near identical to Poets of Berlin on my skin - if I had a more well trained nose maybe I could pick up on the differences but if you don't wanna spend that Vilhelm money this is a bang on dupe. Beautiful green woody vanilla that reminds me a little bit of the taste of a really funky overproof rum in the best of ways; that almost overripe fruit smell that would be way too sharp but the vanilla smooths it out and the greenness of the bamboo and cassis give it a really interesting depth. Love it and will be upgrading my travel size to a full bottle asap.

This is a beautiful smelling perfume but it only last max 2 to 3 hours on my skin. I spray this heavily which is disappointing since it’s not cheap scent. I like it because it not a sickly vanilla scent. It reminds me of a very nice woody slightly with a touch of Green which I wish was a little bit stronger but with my taste in perfume these days I find a very hard to find something that is green and earthy. Any suggestions would be highly recommended. Please are used to love Chanel number 19 but now I can’t even spray it once as it makes me feel dizzy.

Reminiscent of Decadence by Marc Jacobs which I absolutely love and miss! I didn’t think I’d find a similar dupe but this is a pretty close one! The combo of bamboo/green vanilla is beautiful and a total love for me. I love gourmand frags and I’m okay with smelling like baked goods, but this adds a lovely greenness with sweet vanilla that is fantastic without smelling “edible” necessarily. I love this in cold weather. Decadence is stronger and lasts longer but this is worth the purchase IMO if you’re trying to recreate that scent.

It hit me all at once when I smelled my wrist for the first time: the evening has fallen, the leaves are crunching under your feet, the fire is dancing in front of you, and you’re blowing out a charred marshmallow over a crackling fire. This is the smell of fall — the soft spicy vanilla, the green and woody undergrowth, and the withered flowering bushes in the forest. What a banger scent. This is the perfect level of floral and sweet for someone who tends towards woody and spicy scents. 10/10.

The less green version of Poets of Berlin. It’s still green but not so in your face green. I got a weird green musty smell from Poets of Berlin. This one smells less like a basement and more like a light green with a hint of creamy vanilla. The vanilla adds enough of a sweetness to make this an appealing fresh green. Super wearable and, in my opinion, still unisex (Poets of Berlin is more unisex). It’ll be an easy grab for me and I look forward to layering it with sweeter scents.

This is the vanilla that I have been looking for. It's a fresh green vanilla in the opening, but dries down into something softer and a bit more sweet on my skin. Whilst this might not satisfy a gourmand frangrance lover, I definitely get the blueberry muffin comparison even though there is no blueberry note in this. I can also see how to some noses, there is absolutely no comparison to a blueberry muffin. I'm new to the perfume world and this was my first love at first sniff!

I have both poets of Berlin and this. They are basically identical. I love both. I don’t get a lot of the green people are talking about. It’s very powdered vanilla pastry kinda vibes with blueberry to the side. some subtle sandalwood in the bar supporting everything but I would absolutely not call it “woody” lol. I guess I have a lot of very wood dominant perfumes and this definitely isn’t that imo. Very sweet, but not overwhelming like a lot of other “sweet” fragrances.
