Honey Oud

Floris Honey Oud has received a lot of buzz lately, and in liking both main notes, seeing its positive reception in the online community, and really loving Montale's similarly-named Honey Aoud, I knew I needed to sample Floris Honey Oud. First off, both eponymous notes dominate the fragrance--it's mainly honey and oud, simply put. Other notes factor in: bergamot provides a non-sweet citrus additive to the opening of the fragrance, and patchouli and rose support the heart, but very subtly. I don't specifically get labdanum but there's a general floral element that could just be the mix of rose and labdanum. And while I don't specifically get vanilla or musk, vanilla easily blends with honey and musk easily smoothens any dry down. I get year-round wearability out of this, as the comparably winter-leaning notes of honey and oud come off pretty fresh. I can't think of another way to put it: even in its dry down, there's something very refreshing about the honey and oud duo in this case. I feel the need to mention that despite my initial suspicions, Floris Honey Oud is not terrible similar to Montale Honey Aoud, as Montale's take is simply heavier-handed on both the eponymous notes to make their fragrance both more of a gourmand and more oud-intensive. Floris Honey Oud is, by contrast, a fresher, more year-round-friendly use of both notes, but still performs well. I like Honey Oud a lot and will strongly consider adding it to my collection. $235 for 100ml retail but available at FragranceX for $152, its pricing is viable for how much I like it, and frankly, for how different it is from Montale Honey Aoud, also on my to-buy list. 8 out of 10

Honey Oud is a scent that lives up to it's name, especially in the opening. HO starts as a deliciously strong Honey Oud combination that fills the room. Honey and Oud stay in the spotlight doing a sexy Tango on my skin for the first few hours. Amber, Vanilla and musk join the dance after a few hours, but Honey and Oud remain the dominant stars of the dance. About 6 hours in, the rose joins the stage. It does not outshine the Honey and Oud stars of this fragrance, but it does join the party, and mingles with Amber, vanilla and Musk. As a guy that is not a big rose fan, I am very happy that the rose is well blended into the fragrance and it does a great job adding depth vs being a dominant note. Throughout the day, I was getting delicious whiff of this beautiful fragrance. Each whiff bringing a smile to my face. Honey Oud is a very rich, luxurious and classy scent that is well blended and balanced. The first time I wore this fragrance, I went to get my hair cut. The lady that cuts my hair complimented me several times on it and asked me to write the name of this fragrance down so she could get a bottle. I bought Honey Oud around the same time as I purchased Montale's Honey Aoud. To my nose they have a lot of similarities in performance and scent, just replace the blended rose here with a blended cinnamon there. Bottom line: This scent is worth trying a sample of.

God this is gorgeous. A proper English oud, with deliciously fragrant red roses teeming with bee pollen (the effect of labdanum + honey), dipped in and dripping with luscious, ambery wildflower honey. Lightly leathery, slight sweetness; deeply amber of the highest natural order. Not by any means a synthetic-feeling amber, as found in most popular designer amber fragrances; the amber here is natural smelling, so deep, rich, and warm. This could never be cloying. When I wear this I literally hug myself. I love Honey Oud by Floris so much -- yet another British fragrance which makes me look forward to winter time (the others are Babylon + The Bewitching Yasmine by Penhaligons). Criminally underrated house, and I can't understand why. As their creations are pure elegance- oozing with the sophistication of generational wealth. Perhaps Floris is meant for truly wealthy people- such as aristocrats and millionaires. I don't care if Floris never trends. I'm proud to gatekeep something so beautiful. One day I wish to go to the London boutique for the bespoke experience. ❤️

Majestic in a single word. Floris’ Honey Oud is deeply nuanced, beautifully blended and unreservedly sophisticated. Honey Oud opens with thick, sweet, golden honey; beautifully beckoning, sensual even. As the honey settles on the skin so appears the oud – warm, nutty, spicy - utterly devoid of stank. Somewhere in the back lurks a fleeting rose whose freshness lifts both the oud and honey accords. The gradual dry down softens the oud (and, to a lesser extent, the honey) as sweet, creamy vanilla matches the darkening earthiness of grassy patchouli and syrupy amber. The honey never truly dissipates on my skin, it’s evident right to the very end. Majestically smouldering, Honey Oud is a fragrance of tremendous quality. Unique too in its pairing of oud with honey rather than the more common rose. Heavy but utterly wearable thanks to its smooth velvetiness. Totally unisex. Best suited to fall/winter wear. I get 10-12 hours wear on my skin (days on clothes). Sillage is heavy-moderate. 9/10

Honey, Oud, Rose, Patchouli, Vanilla, Bergamot, Amber, Musk, Labdanum; these are superb notes and "guess what"... They are all present in Floris Honey Oud. This is so so so good. The honey is not loud, the rose is just right, the patchouli is subtle but present, I'm sure I'm going to be needing another bottle in 6 months, gosh, I overspray this stuff, no need to refresh for 8 hrs but I do in 4. Never gotten a negative reaction, only positive. All year round performer, perfect aura it'll create. Never too loud, not too quiet, not too sweet, just balanced right down the middle. Floris as a company has been around for eons, so they know their stuff and it shows. Honey oud is often compared to Montale Honey Aoud, here's how I describe them: honey oud "confident and humble" while Montale is "Confident and Rude", yeah! Digest that for a minute.

I really like this one, and for $100/100 ml, I don't think it's priced too high (relative to generic or uninteresting designer scents). However, I think I might like Euphoria Gold for Men a bit more, in terms of a scent that focuses on honey, as it seems more dynamic. I look forward to a second wearing, where more facets might be revealed. Now if you are seeking something with a really thick/syrupy texture, this might not work for you, as the honey note is contrasted with a dry/smoky/oud/woody type note, but I prefer this kind of composition, though if the honey note was weaker I don't think I would find it all that interesting (considering how many "oud scents" there are these days). I wish the reviewer who stated that he thought another scent with a similar idea was significantly better would have explained his opinion.

Inititally this is rose & honey, the woody notes appearing slowly. Honey is not cloying, so even those who are sensitive to supersweet smells like myself can enjoy it. With time this scent deepens further, and the honey gives way to amber and labdanum, while the woody notes persist nicely. Very minimal oud (if any), it is so little, that could pass for any woodsy note to those who are not familiar with oud. Overall, am pleasantly surprised, it's a well-balanced and sophisticated frag. Happy to have had the chance to try it (got a carded sample along with a purchase), as otherwise I'd never go for it. The Floris scents I tried before were so fleeting, that I gave up on the house after a few tries (despite somewhat liking what they delivered in terms of quality).

I found a sample included with another purchase, tried it and could not get it out of my mind. The honey is true and the oud brings out its rich dimensions full of golden sun and relaxation. The effect is something like the slow beauty of honey dripping like liquified magic hour sunlight. Those whose skin reacts badly to honey perfumes will not be able to wear this one, it’s very real. You know the notes already as listed above, the main thing is the experience which is warm inviting and distractingly beautiful. On the deeper side as compared to the more luminous, brighter Lutens Miel de Bois, which I also love, worth having both for those whose skin accepts a realist strong honey note as it is intended.

Oud should be a top note, from start to finish. Very lovely and well blended rose that plays nicely with the oud and honey, not screaming. Sits very close to the skin. Very elegant skin scent the polar opposite of loud. More masculine, but women can 100% pull this off. There are definitely better ouds and honeys elsewhere. Longevity is absolutely shameful, but absolutely great work-safe scent when your boss tells you to come in for a half shift. This one is a lovely scent for gentlemen and not little boys, but not a must buy. 9/10 scent, stunningly elegant. 3/10 performance, absent father-like longevity. Floris Honey Oud went down to the store for a carton of milk and a pack of cigs, and never came back.

Finally got myself a bottle, after longing for so long. One of my absolute favourites that I probably can't be without in the future. All I hope now is they don't discontinue or reformulate it. A sweet, gourmandy oud with loads of honey and some roses thrown in. Dries down to a very sweet musk. Sexy and elegant all the way through. And it's the kinda business woman (not saying it's feminine) throwing her shoes off and putting her feet on the table at the office, in otherwise, formal attire, kind of sexy, if you catch my drift (lol) It's definitely unisex. Laid back, playful, naughty, sexy but elegant and non-intruding. 11/10.

Testing this again lately, I love this fragrance its just so soft, smooth, refined and excludes class and sophistication. I am not a fan of overly sweet fragrances and the honey is just done right here, the scent has such a realistic honey accord and the dry down is just divine with this mysterious resinous note. However, if you are after a projecting fragrance to get some attention than this is not one of them as it is very much a skin scent, perfect for that special someone who gets close to you to enjoy. Its a love :) but just not enough to invest in a large bottle, maybe a 15ml one off ebay.

Excellent honey scent, close to exactly what I'm looking for in a honey / oud combo. Opens with a surprising hint of bergamot with the honey taking center stage. The sweetness of the honey / vanillins / resinous notes is expertly rounded out by the oud - this keeps the fragrance grounded and from becoming cloyingly sweet, the darkness of the oud an ever present presence through the scent progression. I get amazing longevity and sillage from this to the point where I worry about over spraying - signature scent worthy

Testing this tonight and I can understand why it's popular and highly rated. It reminds me of the discontinued Bond New York Oud and MFK Silk Mood. I actually like this better than both because the honey here is great. It's sweet and doesn't feel synthetic although I'm sure it is. The oud does not punch you in the face or smell skunky, like in the MFK. It's westernized and easy to wear, but also carries some depth that satisfies my affinity for niche. Performance seems strong so far. Scent 8.4/10 Performance TBD

Honey Oud opens with a bright and sticky sweet burst of honey that projects impressively. This initial sweetness is soon balanced by the dry, woody facet of oud, creating a harmonious blend. The fragrance has a resinous quality, yet remains creamy smooth thanks to the vanilla. While the presence of rose is questionable, there is a slight floral note, personally leaning more towards lavender or neroli. Overall, it's a fairly linear fragrance, well-balanced and expertly blended. A definite favourite from Floris.

This one truly is a beautiful one. You initially get that Honey sweet rose and vanilla which quickly brings on the thick woody Oud backdrop. Some say it does not last long but to me it really goes strong all day and grows in character while it ages. In fact after wearing it all day and taking a shower I can still smell it where I sprayed my forearms. I also feel this one can be worn all year except if being used in the Summer it would be more suitable at night. Beautiful fragrance from Floris.

On my skin, it opens with a nice resinous sweet honey and amber. Then, a bit of Oud comes into the mix and mitigates the sweetness but the honey/amber remains prominent. I do not get rose at all. Nice projection for the first couple of hours. Apparently, as with a lot of fragrances, it depends on your skin chemistry. Fortunately, for me, it smells exactly as the naming suggests. Very comforting and warm during the cooler months, bordering on opulent. 6-8 hours.

First you will smell a very high quality scent of honey, then the honey will become lighter and the compositions of patchouli and rose, oud and tonka will remind you of a part of psychedelic, I repeat, a part of the Jovoy psychedelic scent. The quality of the scent is very high so that not everyone should wear it, it should match your style. Dignity, strength, kindness and personality. Its price is high but it is worth it. Longevity and diffusion are high.

Starts with a stunning gourmand honey note but that is gone in 5-10 minutes. The next hour is my least favorite - a big powdery turkish rose note. But then becomes more masculine and cologney - amber blended with subtle oud, patchouli, mineralic notes and a particular shine that I cant place. Overall would be a great fragrance if they toned down the turkish rose phase, maybe introducing a more unisex rose note to go alongside it and balance it out better.

This the kind of fragrance that makes people want to come close to you. A warm, sweet spice of a fragrance, I truly have never smelled anything like it. I have yet to run across something that copies the DNA of sweet honey, a spicy tobacco, and vanilla behind there somewhere too along with rose. Best scenario to wear this: A formal affair with importance; perhaps a wedding, state affair, etc. This WILL make you stand out with even 2 sprays so be careful.

More like Honey Oud My God. This is a fantastic fragrance for the fall and winter months. Two sprays, one on the nape of my neck and one on the chest, is all it takes. Twelve hours after I put it on in the morning, I can still get whiffs of it even though it's basically down to skin scent. I'm pretty new to fragrances, so I can't break down notes or anything sophisticated like that, but I like the way this smells, and that's that.

Similar to Dior Ambre Nuit, a rosy amber. Bergamot keeps this fresh throughout, and with the honey, I thought I was smelling ginger at first. The oud is in the background and blended with musk. Honey Oud is very much the Floris style; Rose-Oud from an English perspective. The oud here is quite addictive, you keep wanting more of that woodiness underneath everything. It's like they didn't give you enough on purpose!

I love this, my favourite from Floris. I find it more on the intimate side than projecting personally. Doesn’t last all that long either but I do love it very much. Opening is very much honey, beautiful, warm and rich with an Oud backdrop, just enough. After it dries down the darker notes temper the honey to a lovely balance of sweet and dark. Any season for any reason. This is very versatile.

Got a free sample of this when ordered a batch of other samples. It turned out to be my favourite scent out of all of them. Can't get enough of it, keep sniffing my wrist. Rich honey unisex perfume. It's very sweet, yet not nauseous. I had one very short half spray, but still can smell it very clearly while typing on my laptop. It's definitely worth buying for me, straight to wishlist

This is such a classic high quality fragrance. What I love about this is how well the honey and oud combine. Strangely enough I think the honey outshines the oud. It is such a rich smell. Irrespective of the notes I only detect honey and oud. Impressive longevity and a great choice to wear. I preferred this one over the leather oud although I think both are impressive creations.

I’ve probably tired everyone I know out with how much I’ve raved about this perfume. It smells exactly like all the best elements in a hot toddy (minus the alcohol). The longevity is immense, and on clothes it lasts for days, sometimes even after washing. One of the most edible fragrances I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing.

I'm in love with this! The subtle rose makes it a hybrid rose-oud that's truly unisex; aside from the prominent honey note, everything is seamlessly connected and extremely well balanced :) This one has grown on me so much that I'm thinking of buying it to replace Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud AND Serge Lutens' Miel de Bois!

Honey Oud has the most distinct honey note I've ever come across. It's out in front of the oud ever so slightly. Half the fun wearing the fragrance is in trying to figure out if the oud is being gracious and letting the honey lead or humbled by the surprising strength of its dance partner. A splendid pairing.

The 1st Oud perfume that I liked! (which means that Oud is very much blended, balanced, and so on :) but Oud provides some amazing note to spice up the whole thing, like chilly pepper in food, so it's also not a plain honey etc). If you also don't like Oud but don't mind other oriental perfumes - try this!

The opening notes to me are almost exactly 50/50 honey and oud. These notes work very well in combination. Continues this way for about an hour and then dries down for several more hours to an amber and vanilla mix that reminds me of the dry down in Dior Homme Intense. Well blended and classy. A winner.

Good stuff. Smooth oud in this one. No tinge. I can imagine wearing this around the winter holidays and really enjoying it. There's something sophisticated about this scent. One small spray on the arm and its blasting my nostrils. Note to self - be careful buddy. Shit is strong like bull. 6/10

Powdery amber sweetened up with vanilla and honey (not the skanky type) brightened with bergamot, crossed with an elegant rose-patch combo and a dose of well-mannered oud. To my nose, it's a bit of a cross between Shalimar and Portrait of a Lady, with the oud lending a sharp focus effect.

They have definitely tweaked the formula. I had an older sample that was more warm and full bodied. Bought a full bottle, and while it’s still very good, regal and refined, it’s not quite as warm/rich. Definitely better on clothes.

So Good, after sampling I had to get me a Bottle. Love Floris as a Brand and this is one of their top 3. Smooth Boozy Honey with Rose & Oud. Very comforting vibes. I wear it often. Scent: 9 Long: 8 Sill: 8

This is a LOVE for me! Got a travel size spray and WOW! I'm sad a full bottle is like $250. I can't even describe it. Honey and powder and a bit boozy. I will keep my eye out for an affordable bottle.

Criminally underrated. For what it's worth, out of my 30 fragrances my girlfriend has consistently blind rated this a 10/10, and she's harsh lmao. Classy, sophisticated, "old money" aesthetic.

It’s like taking a deep whiff of a bottle of honey, not cloying, but a realistic, raw-like honey; then it slowly settles to an ambery oud. Beautiful, dark, and rich.

This is good, smooth, sweet but not to sweet. Kinda fresh, clean, non-offensive oud. I would def wear this fragrance, even at the office.

A lovely fragrance with a delightful dry down that is just divine.

Beautiful fragrance absolute class & smells good enough to eat!

Oud — that noble spirit — breathes of manly soul and sharp authority, yet through its sternness, the green sigh of patchouli glides, like crowns of a primeval forest murmuring under emerald light. Then honey — hesitant guest — strays in, unbidden yet not unwelcome, slipping golden threads between the oud’s dark fibres, as though fearing to disturb their temper. Timid at first, it lingers — then, emboldened, takes the lead, guiding this ethereal dance of opposites that could not exist but in each other’s arms. Its drunken sweetness clings to oud’s ungoverned opulence — two forces entwined, sinful and sublime. Amber then breathes dry incense across their union, a whisper of the Orient — weightless resin lifting oud above honey’s molten tide, teasing it to descend once more, to play, to promise. And lo, the rose — honey-drenched and carnal — abandons her modesty to the golden flood, her petals trembling as she surrenders to its consuming kiss. This is a straightforward honey and vanilla fragrance. I've found that honey is only slightly stronger than the vanilla but the blend makes for a wonderful combination. Now, because I'm not great at identifying certain notes, I will say that amber may be an added enhancement to it but because I can't individually pick out an amber note, I'll just assume it's there. My opinion is that it's a unisex fragrance but leans feminine. If you're a guy wearing this, you'll need to be confident and enjoy wearing sweet fragrances. It's a strong fragrance, so it doesn't take much. One or two sprays is just fine, otherwise, it will become cloying and people around you may start to tap out. PLEASE don't overspray this if you're wearing it in an office setting. Additionally, I can't see wearing this fragrance in an especially hot environment or on a hot day. It will no doubt amp it up and it may become difficult to handle, for someone else. The projection is at least average (I haven't done a distance test, asking someone else if they could smell it). Longevity is very good to excellent and I'll conservatively say 6-8 hours but I'm getting more than 8.

To say that I own this, is maybe an exaggeration, since I only have an 8 ml sample. But it will last me a while, after all... I do have many fragrances!! I don’t know if I will ever buy a full bottle, but I feel that it is one that would be worth it! If I can have it for a good price. But that will not be until the autumn(birthday) or for christmas - with money presented for me from my dear husband, then. Because I have bought too many perfumes lately. And I really have to declutter some, too. Anyway, this is so beautiful! Sultry and gooey, and beautifully woody - the oud, of course. I guess it would be great for a man - but this one, I will keep for my self!! The honey and the rose are fantastic, and it is so good to put on my wrists at bedtime, and inhale... for me, it is in the same vein as Francesca Bianchi’s Angel’s Dust. Both are just gorgeous, but neither of them will suffocate the people around you. Of course, you can overspray anything, but I don’t imagine this to enter a room before you do, or that any of them will give you a headache. Now, I will watch a good movie before bed. And be doing some sniff sniff. ☺️

If not for the disappointing longevity, Honey Oud by Floris would be glorious. It reminds me of making smokey caramel by slowly melting honey, water, lemon and butter over a log fire. If you have never tried this when camping, you haven’t lived! Just don’t take your eyes off the pan for a second, and keep curious little fingers away until it’s cooled. Unfortunately, Honey Oud it is so fleeting as to be non-existent within minutes, even after I resorted to spraying it over a thick fragrance free body lotion and my dress. That trick usually works for me in making fragrances “stick”. Nope. On the plus side, this smells “natural” and has a Montale Honey Oud vibe, without the artificial chemicals plaguing it. The oud is a light, pleasant western friendly version, and the honey is a gourmand caramel, so Floris’ Honey Oud is a nice alternative to the louder oud/honey/tobacco combos around if you want something more polite and office friendly. In fact is so fleeting and light, no one will have a chance to become offended. Come on Floris, you are usually better than this.

I was for a long time not so much of a fan of this; I thought it was ‘alright’. I thought it was no better than a load of other ‘ouds’. Then I left it alone for a while. Today I came back to it after a few years. It has really impressed me. I think it ranks high in my list of ‘safe Oud fragrances’. What I mean by ‘safe Ouds’ are those fragrances that have a Oud note in them but they’re marketed towards the casual consumer. Not the frag-head enthusiasts. Yup this ranks alongside Tom Ford Oud; Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir etc. I don’t think the Oud in it is offensive barnyard or animalic; no this is a sartorial gentle Oud note. It is gentlemanly, a refined affect and mannerisms all purposely polite. This fragrance conjures up an image of an older gentleman who used to entertain crowds with his deft feet and charming grin. Mr Bojangles. At the same time I have this image of Idris Elba as Harry Palmer in a John le Carre adaptation. I’m a complete convert. I really like this. 7.8/10

This scent invokes the moment when you see a work of art or a piece of architecture that may seem beautiful from afar, but from the close-up perspective is a bit disappointing, since "pretty" or "elegant" is not the same as "stunning", let alone "breathtaking". The initial sprays feel sophisticated, classy, but not too niche or quirky for daily usage, not "for the trained noses only". In my opinion, Honey Oud is also suitable for a formal event. It doesn't smell cheap, it's not too cloying either. Agarwood is detectable, but tame like a well-behaved cat. I had high hopes, but... Of course, there has to be a "but". Honey note should be more prominent and more vibrant in a scent with "honey" in its name. Instead, it's too subdued. Also, it may well be a skin chemistry dependent experience, but after some time I discovered that Honey Oud has a minty undertone which is not really a quality that I seek in my (supposedly) honey-centered perfume.

A honey sweetened rose oud, which while yes is treading old ground with rose oud but I think the honey sweetness here is really well blended. This is an elegant blend as you'd expect from Floris much less heavy handed like a "Middle Eastern cheapie" would do and feels like it's more expensive than it is. The oud note suprised me in this, I know it's unlikely real oud but it might be the closest to real hindi style oud than most "oud" fragrances out there. The spiced amber aspects are also nicely done, and as it dries it morphs into a clean musky spiced amber fragrance that lasts a very long time. This has a very small resemblance to Montale's Honey Oud, the Montale should really be called Honey Musk imho.

The beat honey accord I've ever experienced in a fragrance. The oud is nothing to write home about but it doesn't make or break this perfume. The honey is not too sweet or animalic; and every element of honey is represented. It has this dry sugary scent that you get from real honey. The oud is in the background but it's not the real thick smoky oud you might expect. It's just a flat warm woody oud that's boring on it's own. However, it dose work out well in this fragrance beacuse the honey keeps it intresting. If your looking for a honey fragrance and your in good terms with oud then this is a no-brainer. The projection is average but it last long on skin.

Honey dominant with a touch of oud. Barely smell the rose here even tho others have said it’s rose dominant. I don’t find that to be true epecially when compared to my other Rose/oud fragrances. This smells somewhat like Back to Black from killian. This is very light and a very subdued fragrance. And it seems more popular with men but I find it very feminine. I purchased this blind after rave reviews from some of my favorite YouTubers but I should know better by now. This is a strong like not a love. It’s too weak to spark a love affair with. I need to be able to consistently smell myself.

Unfortunately I have to report this has undergone a significant reformulation and the news isn't good. I got a decant off a friend, liked it very much. I was confused however why the votes here were predominately 'long lasting' for longevity. The opening lasted around an hour but then it was very light and close after that. Anyway I bought a used bottle off eBay, to my surprise it was way stronger. The opening lasted 3h and I had to be careful not to over-spray as it was very easy for it to get cloying whereas with the decant I was spraying liberally and topping up regularly.
