Imperial Iris Cologne

Take the iris note that is in the Zegna Florentine iris.. make it fleet footed/airier with some citrus vs the ponderous version in Zegna. That is the wonderful opening of this thing. The middle part has the 'iris' that you can find in Penhaligon's Iris Prima, but none of its powdery..ness, it always remains 'airy' but 'there'. It has a similar "base"/drydown to Special 127, but again in a much airier/fleetfooted way. An impressive 'iris' take on a cologne, with the longevity of an edt. Very elegant. Not feminine to me. It doesn't have a 'lipstick' scent, maybe now a then a slight 'powderiness' but never prominent. I don't detect much if any carrot-y ness.. edit: I bought a full bottle

This is a fantastic scent if you are a morning-shower person. Some scents are just purely situational. Meaning, if the circumstances are not right, it will not smell very spectacular. This is one of those scents. One must set the mood for this one. This, to me, is in the same family as Cefiro and is best worn on weekend days, in the morning, fresh out of a hot shower. This very specific scenario is the only environment where this scent really shines. It is cross-seasonal, but the aforementioned criteria must be met or it feels out of place and the application is immediately regretted. It is citrus, iris, and a potent white musk. So potent it actually burns my nose with an ammonia smell if sprayed too generously, but otherwise a lovely clean scent nonetheless. I am a male and have no reservations about wearing this, but it definitely smells more feminine to me.
