Soulle Ambar

Update: nope.. this IS too weak. I usually complain about scents being too strong rather than the other way around. I like soft scents, but Soulle Ambar is almost non-existent. Maybe it will deepen with time as the little sample I had seemed a bit more potent. If it doesn't then it would be hard to recommend this to anyone, even if it smells quite spectacular (for a few minutes..) Original review: Gorgeous! Soulle Ambar is a very lovely and transparent amber. It is indeed weak, but it leaves a beautiful natural scent on my skin that I love. It will not overpower anyone and there's a beauty in that. It's clean, aromatic and sheer. There's a subtle warmth at the core, never too sweet, but sweet enough. I love pineapple, but I don't find it as dominating as expected - it's noticable in the opening, but only lends a slight fruity aspect as it progresses into heart and drydown. A great perfume for a hot summer day. I can see myself bathing in this after a shower or before bed. It is perfectly unisex, but in the traditional sense I'd say that this opens up a tad masculine and then turns a bit more feminine on the dry down. Soulle Ambar is the most luxurious experience I've had in a long time, it smells like a day at an expensive spa and I am definitely ordering a bottle (maybe the big one, as this may end up both addicting and the only scent in my warderobe that I will overspray)

Coming back to say that after letting my bottle sit through the fall and winter this is now much more potent and like the sample that made me buy the full bottle. It is amazing. I will leave my previous review, but I now recommend this as long as you know that it might need time to sit for quite a while. Absolutely love wearing it again 😍

Soft mastic with sweet clover amber. Some sweet pineapple, slight pink pepper. Greenness from galbanum but tempered greenness. I really enjoy the mastic sweet amber fruit and clover blend. Unisex in the beginning but becoming powdery and more feminine in the dry down. I collect Floris fragrances because I like them and many are found at excellent prices and are and excellent value for the money. Classy and easy to wear daytime summer amber but can be worn year round IMO. Very musky in the dry down. Love the sweet clover here. Not used often enough in perfumery. I like this and may buy a FB considering how cheap it goes for now. I will give my sample a full wear before I decide but I'm leaning yes. It's different than anything else I own.

Soft mastic, & sweet musky amber... It is a powdery mastic mingles with sweet amber & sweet clover, with some pink pepper, musky galbanum, & juicy pineapple bergamot mix. This blend has a love hate relation with me! sometimes i can't stand it, and other times i just can't understand why i couldn't stand it! maybe before of the visibility of the pineapple note! but now i just can't detect any pineapple, the time i am enjoying it! maybe this is the reason! It is a sweet mastic amberic beautiful blend.

Will confirm what others have said. Longevity is terrible, after a few mins it's barely there. The name is also misleading. I expected an amber forward fragrance. It is not. Having said that, I really enjoy the scent. It's airy, fresh and just slightly musky. One day, however, like someone commented, I did find myself questioning if I liked it, but have worn and enjoyed it thereafter.

I don't know why all the bad reviews. Someone sent me a sample of this and it smells lovely! To me, pineapple and mastic notes are most prominent and this just smells happy. Love it!

Ok, I don't know if it's due to the humidity in my location or if my sample went off or if they accidentally packed a different sample in the sample card - on the sprayer it only says Floris London without mentioning the exact fragrance - but what I'm smelling here is miles away from what everybody else seems to be smelling. My sample, however, does come from a reputable source, so... anyway... I don't get any sweetness. As in, if LVEB is on a 10 in Sweetness, this would be maybe a 1-2. The first blast to me is very cologn-y sharp early 2000s retro. When it all calms down a bit I get a lot of musk, the tiniest bit of amber and a faint faint whiff of pineapple - though if I'm very honest if I hadn't read it here, i wouldn't have guessed there was pineapple inside. And after the very sharp beginning it's quite astonishing how it turns oh so soft oh so quickly. Don't get me wrong, it is not bad. I didn't give it a dislike. It smells a bit ambery yet mainly musky clean. The more it dries down there is a bit vanilla too. It's totally a well-groomed office friendly fragrance. But it does remind me a lot - and i mean A LOT - of German drugstore Eau de Toilettes of the early 2000s. I know I've smelled this before. It's a bit nostalgic even, but other than that it just doesn't push any of my buttons, neither negative nor positive. A solid, meh... okay. Sillage as well as longevity is rather poor, thus wouldn't recommend a blind buy. Edit: I did now end up giving a dislike after all. I've been testing it for 3 days and it's just gone so terribly fast. Really, it doesn't even last a full hour on me. For the price this is not okay.

Soulle Ambar to me is a very sweet, musty amber fragrance that doesn ́t really remind me of amber as a note. It ́s more creamy vanilla than amber. Immediately it gave me a headache as most sweet fragrances do to me. It doesn ́t have the ́wow ́ factor,it doesn ́t blow my mind away to buy it. It could have been so much better if it wasn ́t so sweet. It doesn ́t change a lot,I couldn ́t distinguish other notes,it ́s starts like vanillic amber and stays that way.It has good lasting power for an EDT.

I usually like Floris, I have several of theirs, but this is "something and nothing". It tries to be amber, it tries to be fruit, but it's a scent without a destination. Having other ambers and oriental scents I was hoping for a bit more smoky, more resinous. But instead, a pineapple note. How can Floris discontinue Malmaison and come up with this? 3/10, sorry x

At this moment I'm testing 2 samples i recieved frim a lovely forum member. One is a cheapy from 29 dollar for 100ml the other is this Soulle Amber. I'm sorry to say but the cheap one (Kristel Martin) has a better quality than this with cheap pineaplle overloaded expensive perfume.....

this is a very poor copy clone of guerlain's samsara ,but it doesnt possess the richness and elegance of the prior , otherwise smells like something dated and out of time . 4.5/10

Sweet oriental... So with this one I get a beautiful mix of fruits and musk, with the typical vanilla and amber dry-down. There are some very interesting notes in here including the mastic, pink pepper and sweet clover (although I don't pick up on that). I also get geranium, and I think that when that is mixed with the pink pepper and mastic, it gives a dry feel to this perfume. I also think the fruit (pineapple note) adds a juicy and sweet freshness to this, and consequently gives a great a balance and contrast here. The jasmine and neroli really add to the composition and I can see depth here, so it does change on skin and develop well. I find Soulle Ámbar a really pleasing fragrance to my nose. I liked it almost immediately after applying. I would give it a try. It's a nice one.

Floris didn't do this fragrance any favors with the name Soulle Ambar. The name is vaguely misleading. If you're expecting a soulful amber (as I was), then you are in for a letdown. If you interpret the name as golden (ambar) sunlight (Soulle, like the name) then this fragrance makes perfect sense. Soulle Ambar is a lightly sweet ray of sunshine. The mastic gives it a mild barbershop opening, but it immediately settles into a warm, sunny afternoon with the clover, geranium, and pineapple in the forefront. It's soft and a bit sweet, but not sugary or gourmand. The amber is very soft and warm, this isn't the dry dusty amber of Prada or Fancy Nights. It's absolutely lovely. And its also absolutely disappointing depending on how you interpreted the name.

Thank you to a lovely fragrantica friend for the sample. The card described the notes and i was really excited to see my favourite note Gabalnum listed. Well after applying to back of hand I waited and sniffed, nothing much, tried the wrist, no difference....faint waft of something creamy, floral, musky? Really tried to breath the notes in...still nothing stood out. After a few minutes I had a deja vu moment and it reminded me of the dry down of a fume I had over 10 years ago. I wracked my brain and it came to me....kenneth cole black for women. Don't bother with this, try the afore mentioned, at least you get the beauty of the whole thing with black not just some feint skin scent!

I wanted to like this and the description meant I should like it. I like something floral lurking in there, but my overriding impression is my grandmother's face powder. It's a sweet, soapy clean smell. It's inoffensive and would work for the office, I think. Nothing I would rush out and buy though. I agree with the reviewer who said it could really be something if it wasn't so sweet.

Elegant and well blended, as are all Floris fragrances, this one has a sunny, warm and cheerful disposition. Not designed to be overtly sweet, cloying or obnoxious it sits close to the skin. Unfortunately the sillage is rather poor. Naturally, the bottle is a standard classic.

On paper: Peppermint, citrus peel, dewy white flowers. On skin: White musk, creamy, waxy white flowers and sweet mint candycane. Getting greener by the minute. Mossy even.
