American Pharoah

A musky, slightly boozy woody aromatic named after a champion horse, the scent evokes summer in a Michigan farm in the 19th century laden with cherry trees, horses running around and cigar smoking farmers. The scent opens with notes of cherry wine, vanilla and slight pepper. The heart is tobacco, animal musk and slight rose. The perfume settles on a powdery woody bed of cedar, sandalwood and ambergris. The masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity. It has a slightly animalic undercurrent that needs open and bold minds to appreciate. Folkwinds perfumes use mostly natural ingredients to create American olfactory landscapes and this is no exception. Enjoy! There is Baque, Kiste and there is american pharao. A true masterpiece within the tobacco genre.

This is one of the worst smelling fragrances I've ever tried from any indie perfumer. It's smells like gross cherry cough syrup and blended totally amateurish. I had to scrub it off or I was afraid I'd get sick 🤢

#sotd (almost the whole week) American Pharaoh by Folkswinds First spray and I was like this could be my best purchase of the year and I was like nah it's too early to decide 😂 I wore 3 sprays and left and it kept poking me and kept asking, am I your best purchase 🤷🏼♂️ and the answer is a big, fat yes! It's a fragrance that just can't be described on notes but experience, a fragrance that brings smile on your face and peace to your heart. I don't wear them for fetching compliments but for personal experience and this has both. It starts with a beautiful cherry note which is boozy and comforting thanks to vanilla which works beautifully with the sharpness and you fell instantly in love and starts wondering what's next 😵💫 The heart has my heart for sure with gorgeous tobacco, rose and bit animalics features and it's just not subjected to people who love daring scents but people who love to smell different yet mass appealing. This gorgeous cherry tobacco rose is heavenly and different from whatever I have smelled thus far so it's another plus. The base has creamy sandalwood and cedar which cuts the salty ambergris so perfectly that you don't feel inside the oceon but around it. I am glad to have this beauty with me and not to forget the amazing caps (heavy and sterdy) beautiful bandana and atomizer. It's a whole package which you don't want to miss. Update: So I recently tried this and the opening was underwhelming. It's a basic entry-level cedarwood....but.. After an hour into the drydown, it does smell similar to Fort&Manle Late Harvest surprisingly, but less louder. That being said, It's not up there with late harvest quality. I wouldn't spend over 150 for this bottle and they are asking more than double the amount. If anything, I would get a back up bottle of late harvest since it's my current favorite now. This did however made me realize how pivotal the cherry was in late harvest because it's absolutely not the same cherry you would find in TF lost cherry. It's buried underneath the pipe tobacco as it should and still able to make an impact presence! It's cherry tobacco done right! Update again : initial review was just from smelling it upclose from my arm. After application, turns out projection is very poor so hard pass. I can't imagine how it came to be that the price point is over 300?? Get late harvest instead!

A very authentic cherry pipe tobacco, I think the most authentic in that genre I’ve ever smelled. Supported by a delicate musk and I’ve also detected some cocoa in the background. Slightly gourmand, but definitely with some farm climates. Doesn’t change much on my skin, but that’s not a bad thing at all. Impression: a vision of farm workers resting, sipping their americanas/espressos and smoking cherry flavoured pipe tobacco. Longevity is above 9 hours, sillage is above moderate.

My favourite of the Folkwinds releases so far and one of the most natural cherry-based-fragrances that I've ever tried. Reminds me of a deep, dry, cherry port - a light hand on the sugar, but with that thick, almost resinous, compote-like cherry reduction. Poured into an oak barrel and left to steep, and served with a cigar on the side. I'm not sure I'd call it a gourmand - it's just a touch too dry - but it is close. Would be a really lovely autumn fragrance!

The opening has got this dried chili feel from that Carolina reaper note. That’s almost all I get from it until it dries down to a earthy cherry tobacco. The cherry isn’t so strong that it’s like medicine.

I need to get my nose on this!!
