Cloud Illusions

Cloud Illusions has one of the strangest note breakdowns I’ve come across, everything seems so random and out of place, and yet it weirdly works in the most spectacular way. I’m no lover of mint fragrances, in fact I usually hate them, but this is a brilliant creation. The mint is definitely prominent - it’s green and bitter with a slight toothpastey feel to it, but it’s sweetened and smoothed out by this incredible bubblegum accord. It really makes the scent feel thick, rubbery and chewy whilst the sweetness is elevated by salty ambergris, blueberries and a touch of Iris. The mint is then furthered by an aromatic whisper of earthy cypress to give it some edge. This is such a unique creation, and an absolutely phenomenal scent. I can’t picture when I’d wear this but it’s not like I’m going to own it anyway what with it being so damn expensive. I’ll enjoy and savour the small sample I have.

A green mentholated woody aromatic that conjures up walking on a misty Spring morning along a Pacific Northwest American mountain trail. The scent opens with notes of cypress, mint and blueberries. The heart is mostly orris and a slight bubblegum like accord. The scent settles on a powdery base of musk, ambergris and sandalwood. Like other offerings of the brand, an evocative olfactory mostly natural rendering of an American landscape. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Very cool, menthol minty blueberry. Smells like a walk in the mountains on a brisk morning

Cloud Illusions starts off with a cold breeze of blueberry. Natural, not sweet blueberry. Mint is soon to follow lending to that chill factor. Just as soon, you'll notice an odd but quite interesting floral accord. The way the iris mixes with this almost grape flavored big league chew accord is pretty unique. It never becomes childish or too sweet. It's reminiscent in my brain of a chilly morning hike in Washington state with mountains in view. Your gum is almost out of flavor. The brush is sparce, and the coast isn't far away either. An icy sea, mountains, and blueberry bushes. I do enjoy it.

Bubblegum,mint and blueberry along with orris creates a nice fresh feeling.Its sweet and powdery.All the fragrances I tried from folkwinds have a nice longevity and weirdness.They all are weird and unusual in a good way.Menthol is probably one of the notes it’s hard to work around.Its dense and thicker with high concentration of oils.

Tried this and based on the price point, expected a lot. Unfortunately I have been disappointed with the initial first 3 offerings. This release gave bathroom air freshener vibe and I felt it was un-wearable.

Dense, natural, and unusual. I wouldn't have named mint in this without seeing it listed here and I'm still not sure I can pick it out directly - or at least, this wouldn't come to mind if I were thinking of mint-centric fragrances. While it definitely has a fresh, menthol-ish "bite" to the overall composition, on me, the cypress sings the loudest, providing the leading vocal that all the other notes follow. If anything it gives me the impression of a clear, sunny, morning in a pine forest - the scent of the woods around you, the snow melting, the plants slowly yawning their way back to life. It's chilly, but not cold, and there's that touch of (very natural) blueberry buried within that keeps the whole thing from veering too far into a woody/aromatic direction. As time goes on, the mint burns off, the day warms up, and the iris ends up unfurling. Mountains keep getting mentioned in the reviews and I agree with that reference point - it'd be fantastic to wear while hiking.

Cloud Illusions By Folkswinds Perfume Save the best for the last, nah, they all are amazing and high quality. If you love blueberry, this is it! If you love orris, this is it! Best of both the world in one fragrance, starts off with heavy blueberry, creamy orris and mint which meets a bubble gum accord in the heart to provide a wide spectrum of nuances to tickle your nose in a good way. In the dry down, sandalwood and orris are going strong and to make that work in tandem musk and ambergris are present to lift the range of this fragrance that it becomes so aromatic and powerful that you can't ignore it. The longevity is exceptional as it lasts easy 8 hours plus on skin with good sillage for couple of hours but those gorgeous whiffs never end('s). Overall, am happy with all the fragrances from this house and if you want to smell different from the crowd, there are 3 offerings so far you can try.

Main theme here to me is blueberry, presented in an intriguing and very unique way. I've spoken with Jono he mentioned about the fermentation, distillation etc. I know those processes (I used to study biotechnology way back when). Back to the point... Cloud Illusions to me is somewhere between fruity fougere and fruity chypre. The only one I know with SUCH outstanding blueberries. The other two ingredients that are presented in a brilliant way are mint and patchouli (the latter one is not amongst official notes in the notes breakdown, although I can say it's there). It's so unique that wearing it only on the top of my palm - I was being asked three times what am I wearing. Definitely the most unique out of the whole lineup to me. It might be my spring and summer staple, hands down.

I was lucky to find this in a bulk sample lot I recently bought mostly filled with designer freshies, so this was a pleasant surprise. This smelt like mentholated gum with an herbal note that didn’t project much at all. I enjoyed wearing this one because it brought back memories of chewing gum during junior high and also the smell of freshly cut grass. Lasted all day and well into the evening. And as an aside, congrats to rbalkris for finally getting someone to take your advice and then needing to subtly mention it in your reviews so that the whole world knows about it!!!! After relentless cold call spamming so many indie perfumers begging and pleading to collab, I guess someone was bound to acquiesce

Cloud Illusions grew on me to eventually become my favourite Folkwinds With Smuggler’s Notch, Santi Ana and American Pharoah sitting close and gunning for that no 1 spot. On my skin, first and foremost it’s a combination of tart blueberries, waxy iris, smooth sandalwood and (oak)moss giving chypre feel and vibe to the composition. This is so, so, unusual, it really is! Projection is smooth, it rather sits close to the skin and whispers. Longevity is good with average 9 hours on me. Wish I got to know Jasper no Kodo, I think that one could be my type of a fragrance.

The name of this perfume says it all. I’d probably could guess that clouds smell like this :D very blue, wee aldehydic with some fruity blueberrish background. Some alternative for spring and summer and definitely an alternative to smell unique during warm days.

I personally don’t get anything from the notes ... what i get is something like a mosquito repellent spray smell , in other words, not pleasant

From what I have seen it looks like you need to match the part to wear this style perfume.
