Jasper No Kodō

Revisiting in May 2024: This is my favorite from Jono and Folkwinds. IMO Its the best thing he's made...hopefully it can be reproduced but it can not be beaten. Though Jono says Japanese incense and fir (putting it next to filles en aiguilles and norne) you will see no similarities with those 2, nor any other fragrance thats in the camphor or incense category. This fragrance defines folkwinds and sets the house apart from all others. TOTALLY unique. Jasper No Kodo is the reason you should follow this house. This gem will be the most sought after in the future. Dec 2023 Note to Self "Do not skip another Folkwinds release if you can help it!" Jasper No Kodō, Jono's 5th release and maybe my favorite of the bunch. I went full bottle on the Notch, the wonderland and now No Kodō. The wearing experience is what might make me prefer it over the other 2 I own as it is like have guardian angels around due to the ambergris, a presence that can not be felt but is definitely there alllllllllll day long. The other 2 are more like a duo of body guards jacked on steroids that let nothing or no-one touch the president. Funny enough I skipped No kodō when it was released but I am extremely grateful to have it now. No Kodō was an instant like, I think the only reason it wasn't a love is because I was expecting something in the same vein as norne with Jono's touch and choice of ingredients. Once I backed off of the idea of Norne, opened up to what was in front of me I fell for it. My first impression was berries, balsams, and OUD and animalics. The fir was there but in background. Very likable! I found myself wearing it the next day, and the day after! Today marks a week straight of wearing atleast 1 spray of No Kodō. Its a LOVE! Jono knows what he's doing. Folkwinds is a small artisanal brand focused on recreating American olfactive landscapes using high quality natural ingredients and limited batch manufacturing. This modern woody fougere is no exception, as it evokes the scent-scape of the Northern Rockies. The scent opens with coniferous notes of hemlock, fir, poplar and broom. The heart is a mix of blackberries, orris, jonquil, gardenia, lotus and gardenia. The perfume settles on a woody powdery bed of oud, oakmoss, cedar, tonka, copal incense, musk and slight ambergris. The powdery slight masculine leaning scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Reminiscent of the crisp air of an autumnal morning trek in a mountain forest. Enjoy!
