Midwinter Dream

I was initally planning on doing a full written, thought out review however looking at my notes, i feel as if everything i was going to say is put, just simpler so this is what i get from Folkwinds Midwinter Dream: Similar to poison ivy opening straight after spraying, kinda autumn Esq not winter. already quite creamy, lots of depth. almost mulled fruit smell- not dark though almost want to say rye forward? like soft warm bread without the dusty flour- quite golden coloured scent. warm touching on being powdery, but isnt quite there. Vanilla develops, sweet, works well with the previously mentioned rye, kinda bread scent as vanilla isnt too vanillary very soft iris. Blends with previously mentioned facets, to the point iris isnt forward. but is there and detectable. Very slightly green with the folkwinds landscape and nature DNA. Wouldn't say its cold. more like warmth in winter- different from american amber and sleepy hollow kind of warmth. More soft comfort than direct warmth I wouldn't say herbal, but there it is as if the vanilla is enveloped inside of something. Only thing i can picture, visually is a vanilla pod encased within fern, despite not being bitter green. as the hours pass it becomes alot brighter, more almost soapy and normally id not enjoy this however i think it works very well in this case. Almost refreshing. Overall, very nice scent. the vanilla retains its life throughout the scent and it is quite a deep and thought gathering scent. Looking at it subjectively with my own fragrance taste, its a miss. Its incredibly well made fragrance, however i am not a big vanilla fan and because of that i dont see myself wearing it too much. Although with that said, this is one of the only perfumes with detectable vanilla that i have enjoyed in quite a long time.

A fairy tale like woody aromatic scent this is an evocative offering from this small house that offers limited editions evoking American olfactory landscapes. The scent opens with notes of bergamot, spices, wine and spruce. The heart has ambergris, orris, and synthetic sandalwood. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of agarwood, oakmoss, cedar and vanilla. The scent has an interesting juxtaposition from sweet dessert like vibes to dark forest like hues on the skin as it evolves. The slight masculine leaning scent is very concentrated at 45 percent and has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. Recommended for fans of houses like Slumberhouse and those into unusual noirish scents. Enjoy!

Midwinter Sample came in and it does not disappoint! For my fellow no kodō fans there are glimpses of the king throughout. 👑 Those conifers are in there for us! Up top a sweet and sour fruity accord with, Gris, and oud which begins to transition minutes later to an emerging orris with a sweet creamy tropical accord on its coat tails...coconut 🥥! It largely remains that sweet creamy iris most prominent; with the coconut, oud, and conifers occasionally swinging in. If a no kodō comparison is what people are looking for I'd say look at it like the younger half sister of no kodō who somehow has better manners. You can tell they are related but Midwinter is media trained and more likely to be well received by the general public. IMO this is second place out of everything released from Folkwinds (I have tried them all).
