Gary's Den

I recently bought DHP from Fragrancebuy and had Gary’s Den from the previous restock. Now that I’m able to compare both, I can honestly say.... Gary’s Den is an AMAZING alternative to DHP! I’m not an expert by any means, but when I spray each on separate arms, they smell 95% identical in the opening. The DHP you can tell is a richer, more complex scent in the dry down (the note breakdown is very noticeable) vs Gary’s Den dry down is more powdery Iris & Ambrette emphasized (simpler but wonderful nonetheless). There is a reason why DHP is at a higher price point and the blend quality and ingredients are world class. Totally worth getting a bottle to have in your collection as it truly lives up to its reputation. Gary’s Den is no slouch either, and really holds its own as, dare I say “Clone” to DHP. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in air and from a distance, and most people won’t (most aren’t fragheads, remember that!). This is what makes is so worth it to get a bottle at a ridiculous bargain for the quality you get from this fragrance. I’m glad I have both, and that Gary’s Den allows me to enjoy the DHP experience more regularly while I save the OG DHP for the really special occasions. Both perform exceptionally well in the projection, silage and longevity, however DHP certainly wins in those categories. Can’t recommend Gary’s Den enough, get one while they are still in stock!

This is definitely in the ballpark of Dior Homme Parfum or Dior Homme Intense. I have DHI and I absolutely LOVE it, but I’ve never had the chance to smell Dior Homme Parfum. It does have a slight DHI vibe to it, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a spot on Dior Homme Parfum clone. With how close they got to Elysium with Fraghead’s Asylum, I would actually be more shocked if this wasn’t a decent clone of DHP if that is what they were trying to clone. Gary’s Den has a nice smoothness, and depth to it. The longevity seems to be right on par with designer fragrances of this scent profile. If you like fragrances like Givenchy Gentleman EDP, Dior Homme Intense, or Aaron Terence Hughes Homme this will be something you will enjoy. The Iris isn’t as loud as those fragrances necessarily, but it is definitely a center piece of this fragrance. It isn’t overly creamy or lipsticky, but almost sort of a dusty Iris that is smooth and well rounded from my experience so far. For the price this is a nice pickup for sure!

These guys saying it's not even close to DHP or DHI are out of their minds or they are spraying it on paper only, as we all know, paper is not skin and things smell extremely different between the two. I get an *extremely* close DHI clone out of Gary's Den. I could barely tell the difference after spraying it on skin. 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they didn't see the bottle. If you told these guys to smell it and told them it was DHI, they'd believe you and say it was the best thing they have ever smelled. I think people are just a bit bent out of shape over the similarity because DHI/DHP are considered to be one of the few "masterpieces in perfumery". Sure, they are, but that doesn't mean it cannot be replicated. Blind test it. Phenomenal value for money. Very close clone, 90% +/- DHI. Great longevity and performance, it was still running after 10 hours.

As others have said, not a 1:1, or perhaps, not even an attempt at it. However, this is a remarkable twist on DHP--even without considering the price. It's not as dense as DHP, and it lacks the smoky undertone, however these are features of Gary's Den and not bugs, imo. Frankly, I find GD more wearable and just as enjoyable as DHP. The iris is gorgeous and meshes perfectly with the other elements, and aside from an opening blast of perfumer's alcohol nothing is out of place here. It's just about as perfect a scent for autumn in the midwest as one can reasonably hope to find. So, while this is not a 1:1, when combined on the shelf with Kayaan Classic Black my itch for the big, cold-weather Dior iris bombs is fully scratched. I got brand new bottles of both for less than $80 combined. Amazing. Bottom line: the clones are real and they are spectacular.

I have a bottle of 2020 dior homme parfum, most people reviewing this either have unrealistic expectations (expect a 1:1 whilst paying a tenth of the price) or dont understand this is a twist not a clone. With that being said this is amazing, beautiful powdery iris fragrance that is around 80% close to dior homme parfum, performance is NUCLEAR everytime I sprayed this people would ask what I was wearing and mention it is very strong. btw my bottle is the black cap one so idk if they changed the formula but this is based on my bottle that has been macerating for a bit more than 2 years. scent: 9/10 price: 8/10 performance: 10/10 overall: 9/10 would recommend

Well, with the discontinuation of the OG... Dior Homme Parfum, I'm guessing that this will be in the collection of those who run out of the OG. I tested this again over the past day or two, and I think this gets close enough to scratch that itch. Alexandria Fragrances Leather Intense is also a nice choice that has decent performance. I have two full bottles of the OG, and between that, and the other clone like frags, I should be good for some time. Regardless, this is a good clone of the OG, and it doesn't smell cheap, and there is no alcohol blast in the opening, and has very decent performance.

This is a fabulous clone of Dior Homme Parfum!!! Is it 1:1? No. But, I would say it comes 90%+ close to what it's trying to clone. The performance is above average, and projection seems to be on par with DHP. This will definitely allow me to make this into my cooler weather rotation. I have other clones of DHP, and this is the best one I have without question. The fact that you can pick this up for less than $40 is impressive. If you're on the fence about this, it isn't hype with this one as far as I'm concerned. And no, this is not a clone of Dior Homme Intense, this is the Parfum version.

I have compared this to DH Parfum and it’s a good clone of DH Parfum. I don’t think anyone is going to really tell the difference in the air between this DH Parfum. It’s a dense, classy, masculine scent. To me the Iris is not dominant like in DH Intense. You can still smell it and it smells good but more or less plays nicely with the other notes in the fragrance. Gary’s Den also has good projection, sillage,etc. This is a respectable clone of DH Parfum at a really good price. I’m happy enough with the clones that I have that I really don’t see the need to purchase DH Parfum at this time.

This opens as a light version of DHI (not DHP), but with a very very light leather accord in the background, then it dries down similarly to how Narciso Rodrigues Blue Noir Extreme Parfum dries down, with the musk and vetiver taking center stage and iris lingering softly. Speaking of iris, I get carrot seed accord more than orris root, but a lot of fragrances utilize carrot seeds with orris to supplement the accord, including some heavy hitters like Amouage. It's a nice one, and it lasts a long time 6-8 hours, but it shines with its own character in the first 4 hours of wearing.

This fragrance is wonderful i love it! Though some of my friends have tested and smelt it with them all saying it smells like sunscreen, lotion or soap. I have since I got it been smelling a very similar smell to cinnamon, just a straight creamy cinnamon. I bought it with the hope of being similar to DHI but its so far from it. Is it bad? yes if you're expecting DHI but I think it's better then DHI since it doesn't smell like it. Would try to find a tester or sample before buying since the smell isn't for everyone.

Probably not ideal for a 18 year old guy to wear this like me, but as a cologne nerd this is art in a bottle. Haven't tried DHP but I have tried the intense and it's very close to that and can even hold up quality wise to dior. Great performance, not too strong. I think it's more wearable than DHI because it's not as powdery and Gary's Den is also sweeter. This one is fantastic for the price. Smells very rich and classy for those more formal nights out.

Gary's Den finally made it and Yes- it smells remarkably similar to Dior Homme Parfum.. 3 sprays for now and will update after a wear or two on longevity.. Very excited... I have 3 bottles of Dior and these 2 Garys Dens will ensure that I am set for life.. * Smells 90-95% Dior Homme Parfum.. Not quite as Irissy/ rich- that may change after it macerates a bit.. Happy.. $37-- I paid over $200 for My Dior Parfum.

Whoever marked this as “way over priced” is a meathead. This stuff is a massive home run! Absolutely stunning version of Dior Homme. The price (I paid $39 Canadian) is insane good for this scent profile that lasts an insane amount of time. I bought all 3 of the initial FOMO releases and all 3 are amazing! Fragheads asylum is a dead ringer for Roja Elysium and Illusion D’un Soir Mancera’s Red Tobacco.

I own DH EDT, DH 2020, DHI, DHP, and now this. FOMO knocked this out of the park. The opening is not quite as smooth as Dior, but for what it lacks in the opening, it makes up for in versatility. I feel this fragrance is a bit easier to wear in more casual settings but still dresses up very nicely. Longevity is great too. I am a fan and reach for it often on date nights.

I’ve given my year old bottle its first wear of the autumn today and damn, it got even better! This is as near as dammit to DHI. Most fragheads couldn’t separate the two in a blind test, let alone “civilians.” If you like Iris, (or want to try an apex iris fragrance for not a lot of money,) this is a good place to start. Outstanding value.

Delicious spicy, iris, amber and long lasting perfume. Dries down on me similar to Guerlain Ideal Parfum but, I think, this is nicer and the Iris comes through beautifully. Comes in a high quality bottle and heavy top, also a superb box. Fantastic value. This EDP is excellent quality. I'm going to consider buying other FOMO's

I love it. Fresh and very similar take on the Iris scent that Dior and Valentino have made famous. It has this iris dominant scent profile similar to Dior and Valentino. I get also somewhat fresher take if that makes sense. Great for cooler weather and evening out. Easy going Iris scent for men.

I haven't smelled the old/new DHP or the intense version of it either. And I don't really care if this doesn't smell like any of them. I like this one. Getting this Coca Cola + lipstick smell that feels sophisticated, sensual and sexy. Long lasting and good sillage. 5/5

These bottles have to be the laziest, most boring bottles on the market... but the juice inside is pretty great. I can’t compare it to specific years of Dior homme but it nails the overall DNA for sure. Very comforting, luxurious, powdery/sweet aroma.

Excellent value for money. This is a DHP clone through and through. It’s lighter on leather and rose but still very very close to DHP (which is one of my favourite frags). Don’t hesitate to buy this if you want a cheaper alternative to DHP.

I agree with Scentbeast1111, below- I have both and back ups of both. Garys Den is lovely and a great clone.. It is not as deep, but most would not tell the difference in the air- DHP is richer.. Garys Den is cheaper, by far..

Overall, this about 90% similar to dhp. I’ve sprayed og dhp many times and can say that GD lacks a little bit of deepness in the scent profile. But the cologne itself, lasts about 8-9 hours and projects perfectly.

Love this so much. Was worried it would be redundant since I have DHO, but this is a lot different. Not as sweet and the iris smells more smoothly blended with other notes I think. Great especially for the price.

One thing I want to say to those who complain about this perfume: You haven't tried Dior Homme Parfum at all. You don't need to try anything else but this. Absolutely best clone of DHP.

It's like a hybrid of many different iris based juices. To me, it's a masterpiece. Elegant and lovely, esp for the price point! The retro 60's-70's orange glass vibe is great as well.

Quite harsh in the opening notes, but the dry down is fantastic. This in my opinion is a good blind buy, get passed the first notes and enjoy a really pleasant powdery dry down.

Ahh yes. For all those Dior Homme Parfum 2014 lovers. This is it! Has that Iris and lipstick smell that we all love. I've had it for 2 weeks now and it gets better over time.

I’ve never smelt Dior homme parfum before but this fragrance is unreal. A nice Iris with like a vanilla behind it and some woods. Very solid pick up for 40 dollars.

A sweeter more musky version of DHP. Price : 10/10 Performance: 10/10 Scent profile: 9/10 ( a bit too musky) Amazing scent, one of the best DHP dupes out there!

I was pretty curious to try this, because I like the notion of cloning something that is a hard to get cult fave, rather than a high-priced best-seller of which there are a thousand clones already. I have some samples of DHP that i got when it was released, which I never use because I found it a bit too dense and severe for my tastes. The reviews of Gary’s Den that describe it as a less heavy take on DHP made me curious, and now I’m trying these side by side. DHP is obviously higher quality, and has some deeper notes that Gary’s Den lacks. The opening of GD has something that almost resembles a cola accord, Iris is prominent, and overall this seems brighter. Definitely less leathery. It’s almost like they’re both playing the same chord, but GD is missing a bass note or two. It’s obviously missing something when sniffed close up alongside the juice it dupes. As the dry down proceeds, the differences are slightly less noticeable, but the original still comes across as better composed and more complete. And it should, it’s a classic, the perfume grail for some! Id say this is a totally respectable attempt. I think the “90%+ similarity” takes are overstating things though. It’s not that far off, especially in the air after a couple of hours, but there’s enough space between the two that in comparison, it’s easy to tell which is the real thing and which is a facsimile. I’ll come back to try this on its own, and maybe consider it on its own merits, but honestly imitation is what clones are built for! EDIT: all the testing made me realize that I really like DHP, and I decided to pursue a bottle of the real thing. For me, this came close, but the gap highlighted what a masterpiece the Parfum is.

Take this review with a grain of salt, being that I never smelled the OG. So I'm not rating this based on how similar it is to the OG, rather just the scent profile as a whole. With that said, I don't like the scent all that much. I think I heard too much hype for the OG, so if this is a good 'dupe' of it, I have to say it's just not for me. I have other inspired by's of the OG and the revised versions of it, and I prefer those scents way more then this one.. Namely 'Arabiyat Prestige Noire' , is just a better smelling scent then Garys Den. If I had nothing to compare it to, I still wouldnt like thud scent much. But having other scents that are supposed to be similar scent profiles hurt this fragrance for me. It's on the bottom of the list for overall scents, and bottom of the list compared to others that have some of the OG DNA in it. Gonna try 'Rayhaan Obsidian' next, just got 'Lattafa Confessions', that's my next review *Update After some hours on skin, Idk if my nose matured over night, but I have more appreciation for the scent profile. It's giving powdery lipstick and Cola vibes. The uniqueness gives it a certain charm. 'OK' to 'LIKE'

I hold my Dior Homme Parfum bottle dearly and wish to for many years to come. At the same time, I'm often skeptical of dupes as in my experience they just haven't done the job well enough for me. ...I am pleased to say that Gary's Den is a worthy clone of DHP. Let's start off with its differences: immediately you'll notice it's not as smooth as DHP, however It's what I expected from a $50 fragrance copying a beloved release. Next, this has some sweet undertones to it, however that powdery accord stays prominent from top to dry down. Now for its similarities: The iris is there to be heard, and it's mixed well with the powder accord. For me, it's the two features I pick up the most in DHP and am happy to see it expressed here. There is just a bit of vanilla here but the powdery accord compliments the entire scent. For first impressions, I am pleased with this one and will see how it performs in the next few months. Edit: After wearing it more, I'm pretty sure people are gatekeeping this one, because some reviews will just call it garbage, but this is almost identical to DHP for me. 9/10

Gave it a full wear last night. It's a Dior Homme Parfum clone alright. It's not bad for the money, but at the same time it doesn't quite cut it. Will probably use it for layering, as a base for Dior Homme Intense maybe. All the elements are there, the iris, the orange, the rose, the sweetness from ambrette, but you can tell they used different materials to achieve a similar effect. In comparison to DHP it has a somewhat marshmallow-like sweetness (most notably in the opening), and it is drier, more on the dry powdery side, whereas DHP is more powdery/creamy. It projects reasonably and lasts moderately. Not the beast DHP is, though I didn't expect it to be at this price point. Not bad at all, it's absolutely in that same ballpark, but you will smell the difference with the original. It doesn't have that luxurious feel and high quality smell. That's not to say it smells overly cheap or synthetic, it's just not on the same level of quality.

To me this smells like clean diapers and soap on the opening, after 30mins the diaper smell goes away and it starts to become more musky, sweet and woody, lasts approximately 4 hours on clean skin and projects about 0.7-1 meters around me with 3 sprays on pulse points. I own Dior Homme Intense and it does not have the smell profile of that however I really like to layer 1/3 Gary's Den with 2/3 DHI due to Gary's Den supplementing the DHI with some musk to push it more towards the masculine side. Overall I'd give it a 6.5/10 for the smell, 7.5/10 for the price and when layered with DHI it becomes a 9/10 in terms of smell. Don't buy this expecting a clone of the Dior Homme line

The best DHP clone you can get, I was actually taken back at how good quality this is. Imho it's better quality than the Givenchy "clones" of the DHP/DHI dna. Side by side I think you'd be able to tell the difference between this and DHP, the Gary's Den is a little lighter with a cooler iris but it has all the great and smooth aspects of DHP. Pretty impressive. I quite like the old school aesthetics of the bottle, plus it's hefty and the sprayer and cap are good too. Very good value, just a bit of a wasted opportunity if this is the quality they can produce at these prices. I'd like to see fragbuy do something original next.

Overall, an 8/10 I have to agree with @eroc_31088 that this is a hybrid of many different iris based fragrances... But i wouldn't label it as a masterpiece... For my taste, Prada L'Homme Intense is still the King! This is not a bad fragrance at all, but not an exact clone of DHP... All i get from the beginning, is a reeaaaally strong lipsticky smell that (thank God) settles down within 5 to 10 minutes.. After that, amber, cardamom and labdanum makes wonders and the smell changes dramatically, and turns into a sweet /powdery sexy scent! Well done Fomo!

Like the scent. Have never smelled DHP, but this is different enough from DHI and my other iris fragrances to stand out. Biggest complaint so far is how weak it is. After 2-3 hours it dissipates to a skin scent. Sillage is never really more than an arms length. I sprayed about six times and asked my wife if she liked it. She said she couldn't really smell anything until she got pretty close. I hope it gets better after macerating for a while.

When freshly sprayed it smells very similar to DHI but on the dry-down the woody and earthy aspects of it begin to shine. Biggest complaint is how damn fast it turns into a skin scent (2-3 hours) but I took a peek at the production date and it's (2/25/25) and today is 3/17/25. That said, I'll let it mature for a bit in my drawer and I will get back to update if the longevity improves.

I had to delete my previous comment, welp i got my hands on two bottles of Gary’s Den & one DHP 2024 formulation(lucky me). Gary’s Den is 60-70% DHP but in other words it smells like cinammon +coca cola+DHP the dry down is reaaaally nice i like it plus it satisfies the itch for DHP. 7.5/10 I think this is the best clone for DHP , even better than Alexandria Fragrances Leather Intense

Very decent fragrance. It has bits of all the lipsticky iris based fragrances like : Dior Homme, Dior Homme Intense, Valentino Uomo intense but with an added bubblegum/cherry sweetness in the back. The iris is powdery with a carrot seed nuance. Very decent quality for the price and worth trying if you like the above mentioned scents.

This is a banger. I have DHP and it’s reasonably close. DHP being the best designer of all-time IMO, this will scratch that itch without denting your bottle. On its own, it’s damn near perfect. Absolutely better than DHI when factoring price. Performance doesn’t need factoring. This is vastly superior.

Opening DHP but as it settles it turns into more of a vanillic sweet ambery fragrance. The leather is very short lived. I dig it but it’s not DHP. Good fragrance that I find easier to wear than DHP. Better stock up on the DHP.......
