Black Iris

I absolutely adore this scent. It's baby powder with a hint of something floral. I was a little worried at first because it smells like licorice on me when I first apply it (I despise the smell of licorice), but within five or so minutes, it transforms entirely; it becomes rich, powdery, and entirely feminine. I actually find it to last a reasonable amount of time. I put it on before work and after six hours I still catch traces of it on my wrist. I'd say the cut-off is seven hours, after which I reapply. Sillage is definitely intimate, but it's a scent that would be suffocating were it any stronger. I'll be buying a full bottle once I gather the funds! If you love the smell of baby powder but want something a little more mature and mysterious, this will be right up your alley.

Black Iris upon first whiff is an unexpectedly rich and soft green/floral. What I love about FSW is that they source their materials from nature, which means all of their perfumes are 100% organic. The powdery iris/orris smell is hard to describe to those who aren’t used to it, but I can only describe it as being a natural floral powder vs a synthetic powder. I’ve had this bottle for a week and I’ve noticed that it’s opened up beautifully, and every day I’ve grown to love it more than the last. I think it’s best worn in intimate settings, as the sillage is not very intense, but I personally wouldn’t want it to be. I was pleasantly surprised by the anamalic note that came forward on the dry down, ending with a sweet honeycomb. Doesn’t last long though, and I wouldn’t consider this to be a safe blind buy.
