Fireside Story

I have the oil sampler of this. The way it captures a campfire is so uncannily similar. It is quite reminiscent of a late summer camping trip, but it's a little more cozy, warm, and intimate. I will say for some people, namely asthmatics, it might be a little too over powering - a little goes a long way, and it does smell like burning wood. On my skin/pulse points I noticed it lasted up to 8 hours, maybe a bit longer, with a shift more towards vanilla and sandalwood at the 4 hour mark, but still gorgeously smokey. It also reminds me of incense a bit. Intimate sillage - it is not per se sensual, it CAN be, but it also feels like family and friends. Maybe not everyday wear, but definitely in my fall-winter rotation.

So fun & fascinating to see how things can smell so very different from nose to nose! Reviewer below me got bbq :) so interesting! To me fireside story is more about the hot chocolate with marshmallow beverage that I’d be having at a campfire. It has a quiet burning embers feel to it in but not super smokey. I find it to be approachable and an easy love. Not super sweet but yummy enough to qualify as an autumn gourmand! :)

Just the kind of comforting, delicious scent I want for winter. Smokey, and woodsy, but not overwhelming. A clean smokiness, not a dirty smokiness. There's a warm sweet vanilla after it settles down on your skin. To me, it smells like the way my hair smells after sitting by a bonfire on a cold October night: one of my favorite smells.

I got Fireside Story when I did the "which perfume are you" quiz on For Strange Women's website and along with other perfumes of theirs that had me intrigued, I decided to buy a sample of it. It's a good smokey sweet scent – probably one of my favourite types of fragrances – but a little more on the smokier side. I find that my skin doesn't have good luck with these sorts of perfumes, no matter how much my personal tastes dictate otherwise, as my skin tends to eat up these sorts of scents very fast. But because Fireside Story does lean a little more smokey/fiery on me with just a small hint of sweetness from the vanilla, I found the longevity to be pretty decent on me. By the 10th hour, I could still smell the last remnants of it that to me smell a bit... idk, sooty? Like what a campfire that's been put out the previous night would smell like. Fireside Story teeters between a natural smokey scent, the smell of leaves and twigs being burned, and a more synthetic or industrial scent caused by the fire itself. The very slight hint of sweetness to me reminds me of roasting marshmallows by the campfire. You don't really smell it unless you put your nose right up the roasted marshmallow, yet the smell you're surrounded with is still campfire. I imagine the lobby of the hotel in Twin Peaks smelling a bit like this. Although the longevity of this is pretty decent on me as far as smokey sweet perfumes go, I enjoyed the scent so much that I wish it just lasted a little longer.

This smells exactly like a campfire, and brings back so many fond memories of Girl Guides for me. The smoky note is very overpowering though, which could turn a lot of people off from this scent if that's not something they enjoy. For me personally though, nostalgia wins out.
