Impressions de Giverny

Glorious! Sweepingly gorgeous, complex, ultra-classy, ultra-layered niche floral which bowled me over completely - and I'm another who normally sticks with resins, leathers, woods and rough, 'dark', strong scents. Whereas this is the smell of the MOST manicured, refined, pruned, clipped, hand-watered, hand-mown, daily-weeded exhibition gardens you can imagine. Conjures mental images of impeccably elegant French grandes dames in Chanel suits striding down immaculate paths to welcome you into their chateaux for an impossibly refined visit. But not at all stuffy or over-formal - there's a real zing of freshness and innocence in there, and it's all just SO well-judged... the aromatics full of rich interest and character, an airy fresh feel of the open air, no one flower growing overbearing or bossy, though that creamy, calm, utterly poised magnolia is definitely at the head of the table. In its subtlety and just sheer 360-degree loveliness it reminds me of the extraordinary opulence of some of Puredistance's compositions. Seems strongly femme to me but don't let that put you off - any human nose should try this and delight from the experience, whether or not you feel you could wear it yourself. Projection's just right - enough for people around you to sense and enjoy, but not feel mugged by - and the sillage is absolutely intoxicating, another trail of nectar goodness to follow through the imaginary chateau grounds. Yes, longevity is disappointing (just hanging on on skin for somewhere between 2 and 3 hours) which is an absolute heartbreaker. And yet and yet. It's SO beautiful - while it's light years away from my own home ground, I want to spend more time with it. Heady, joyful, wonderful days. Formidable!

Fort & Manle's latest, Impressions de Giverny, is a mix of florals and fruits over a woody, resinous base. I do not detect many floral and fruity notes in particular, but the blend seems characteristic of a mix that includes some white florals, rose, citrus, and apple. It's fresh, sweet, floral (but not too floral), and a bit woody with some interesting herbal, spicy undertones as well. Benzoin plays significantly into the dry down especially, giving it a sweeter, more resinous, less floral finish. This is very easy to wear, possibly quite versatile, if it were not for it being a little airy for my usual taste, which would make it more difficult to pass offer in slightly cooler climates or in nighttime wear outdoors. Performance is a bit lackluster but this is partly based on the brand generally having strong fragrances, especially Bojnokopoff, Amber Absolutely, and Suleyman Le Magnifique. Impressions de Giverny is more of a warm weather fragrance in my opinion--it'll shine much better when there's heat to bring it out. 8 out of 10

I have no idea why people have said this smells like Moonlight in Heaven. I own both and would not say they are similar other than sharing terrible performance! Having said that, I still purchased this because it's a perfect beautiful office-safe fragrance. I've tried so many easy breezy floral fragrances and this does stand out as being a unique scent. It's floral, but not too sweet and very modern. The yuzu and apple help brighten it up while the benzoin adds depth. Very pretty. I do recommend trying!

I absolutely adore this fragrance. The fruity and floral notes are truly wonderful. The MAJOR drawback is the longevity. On my skin this doesn't even last 2 hours which is disappointing as I wouldn't shell out the dough for something that I'd literally have to re-spray multiple times throughout the day. If this ever gets reformulated to last longer then it's a definite buy for anyone who loves an immaculate floral. Such a shame about the staying power, otherwise this would be a masterpiece.

So beautiful, so very short-lived. Impressions de Giverny opens as a diaphanous botanic veil of crisp apple and zesty yuzu atop a canvas of tender garden greenery and impressionistic florals. The florals are utterly unpretentious and so translucent as to be hard to delineate from one another; there’s definite tulip with its aquatic freshness, orange blossom, gentle rose, honeyed magnolia, and osmanthus. In the middle, the tendrils of tuberose and fig leaf juxtapose, with their watery greenness, the creamy warmth of the floral bouquet’s now mango, peach and ylang ylang dominant accord, while peppery-lemony-coriander and bergamot add shimmering brightness. Delicate musky ambergris and benzoin in the dry down serve to lend a solid foundation and dab of skank to Impressions de Giverny’s genteelly swirling aquatic floral composition. Truly beautiful. As stunning as Impressions de Giverny is, there is no escaping its contemptible longevity. I get two hours – at a stretch – from bottle-devouring heavy application. This begs the question; will I replace my bottle? No. Instead, I’ll settle for Creed’s equally unisex and beautiful Jardin d’Amalfi which, although less abstract in its execution, is very much alike Impressions de Giverny with the advantage of vastly improved longevity and sillage. 6/10 (Though it pains me to score so abysmally on account of longevity)

On paper this smelled like a fresh, wet garden. It was surprisingly but pleasantly atmospheric. On my skin, a musky, laundry-esque, artificial peach note drowned everything out. Not offensive by any means but it became very boring - I was looking forward to that wet garden smell. Lasts for two hours only.

A booming white-floral centric scent that leans a little too femme for mine. Traces of (tropical) fruit in the background, but by and large, it's quite sweet. Enjoyable to smell, no doubt, but just not my cup of tea...

The smell of those pink silky sachets that people put in their “lingerie” drawers in the 90’s and/or the timeless smell of the wax melt/votive candle isle of a craft store~

Somewhat between like and dislike. I like the real osmanthus absolute nuance in it but also it is nauseous with the leathery nuance of it. Also smells like a perm solution

A pleasant but oddly blended floral fruity musk where the apple and mango notes drown all the florals. Surrounding the dominant fruit notes are florals like tuberose, neroli, rose and ylang but it’s difficult to discern them as ultimately only the fruity notes remain on a powdery bed of synthetic musk and benzoin. Perhaps this has been reformulated, I am not sure. The feminine leaning scent has moderate sillage and longevity. Not quite a disaster, but somewhat of a head scratcher. Enjoy!

Those main accords are way off to my nose. Nothing amber or tropical or animalic to this one. Big green opening which then transfers to a pleasant light floral scent. Nothing great about this one and then the drydown is a light benzoin as a skin scent only. This one lasts a skin scent for about 4 hours. Not my cup of tea and way more feminine than masculine along with the few others I have sampled.

After sampling this and a few others from the line I have to agree that this fragrance is beautiful. Upon smelling I immediately wanted to place an order for this gem until I found its only drawback, performance. This smells so amazing. A perfect blend of fruits, florals, and musk making this a banger scent for the hot weather. So I may have to agree with the reviewer who rated this below a perfect 10. It is more full than Atelier fragrances and the performance runs about the same but I can buy a 200ml bottle of any Atelier scent and still have some cash to burn. If you have the cash to burn I suggest going for it. This truly is an amazing fragrance but when the performance I horrible the price now becomes an issue. The retail price for this is $200 USD. I would never tell anyone this isn’t FBW but be warned the scent is fleeting. My only recommendation with this is to spray on clothes. Maybe get another hour or so out of it. Also to reapply often. The scent is pretty linear on my skin so it wouldn’t bother me to spray on clothes. Final Rating 7/10 Scent is beautiful and the presentation is gorgeous but he performance and price stops this dead in its tracks from being a perfect 10.

One of my favs from this line. Sweet but not cloying, subtle but noticeable, flowery but not too much... The only issue is a bit the performance... What i find here is a fruity and flowery perfume, perfect for daytime use un spring and summer, sweet but at the same time a bit fresh. The fruity vibe comes overall from the red Apple. It is like cutting an apple. Then the White flowers part with the the subtle magnolia de N first línea. It has also some citrusy and tropical character and a mix of flowers going with the Magnolia. The background is balsámic and a bit animalic with the ambergris, benzoin and mysk but done on a very delicate way. Impresiones de giverny could be the interpretaron of aventus from this brand (not similar but with some samr character) mixed with some vibe from erba pura. Me and this brand do not have a click. That strange Maduro from the same Australian brand has an animal funk that really puts me of. In this one I smell the juicy apple, bergamot and flowers and that tuberose and ylang ylang. I don't smell any yuzu and I really like that Japanese lemon a lot. I can appreciate this kind of complex multi facet flowery and fruity compositions but somehow this gives me a scent candle vibe. And not even a very expensive one. Osmanthus has a thick heavy smell and I don't smell that to my regret. And tulip doesn't have a flower smell by the way. This is absolutely not a bad perfume but I think with the mentioned ingredients this could be an outstanding and more special impressionist fragrance but for me it just doesn't work.

9:30 - lovely open. All ripe apples and musk with tuberose and orange blossom supporting. 10:30 - it wasn't "gone" but it was a skin scent so I sprayed my clothes. After the open, this settles into a very well done white floral, not boring or generic, but also not something that thrills me. I tend to like a bit of skank in my perfumes, and this is very pretty. 11:45 - The benzoin, ambergris, and musk are left on my skin from the first round of sprays and there is still a bit of white floral on my clothes and hair from the second round. Both require burying my nose in whatever to smell it. When I wave my arms around while working, I get wafts of an almost woody/amber scent which is pleasant but not strong enough to justify buying the perfume.

Slightly spicy yet floral blend. It whiffs between spice, floral, and slight sweetness with that tingly saffaronic sweetness that consist of rose, coriander, mango, and apple, then i can sniff some sourness that comes from neroli, orange, and slight yuzu. Now the magnolia is quite strong in here with bits of musk, & osmanthus but i can't detect any fig leaves (thank GOD). It is nice, although from the reviews i thought it will be astonishing, & groundbreaking but it wasn't, it's quite fair and i believe this does smell similar to "Nishane" blends. For the mass market, this will make good sells, & could be a hit cause it's safe and it's for everyone.

This is a wonderful magnolia blast with other beautiful notes bended in. I do not get much of the apple smell that others seem to think is intensive. Ambergris seems stronger than apple to me. I think the rose has been under-rated by others. I would assume most who smell this would think it appeals more to women than men, but I find any scent that is beautifully crafted can be worn by anyone. (The exceptions might be the iconic perfumes that so many wear and are indelibly associate with one sex.)

Beautiful fresh fruity floral with ambergris undertones. i feel distinct apple, mango, magnolia, with a "dirty" ambergris beneath which for me comes across a touch too masculine but it also gives it a niche unique twist. Quite sweet,but still fresh and apart from that ambergris note quite feminine and somewhat creamy. Damnit this is good. And that is coming from somebody who exclusively wears dark woods, gourmands, Leathers, and masculine scents. This is fantastic. It’s young, it’s vibrant, it’s beautiful. This is what I imagine heaven smells like.

A touch of magnolia, fig, ylang ylang, mango and red apple. I like this one. And I've come to a conclusion that out of FnM's offerings, I've come to like this, Charlatan, Maduro and bojnokopff only. And I prefer this over the rest.

Green for a brief moment in the opening, then followed by creamy florals. It is the safe creamy floral. Although it reminded me of Carnal Flower, it is much better behaved. If Carnal Flower is Mr Hyde, then this is Dr Jekyll.

I bought it also.. but after one hour did not smell anything, was gone. I returned it and I bought Charlatan !

Absolutely gorgeous but no longevity. Gone in 30 minutes.
