Under Which Rivers Flow

This is absolutely beautiful. I am quite sensitive to strong fragrances and I don't find this heavy at all, I think it actually wears more natural and light than some of F&M's other creations, while at the same time lasting in a balanced, not overpowering, lovely scent bubble all day. As someone else mentioned, it smells very classic and classy, elegant and refined. It is deep and rich, but not cloying or too heavy. I could see this being worn at the opera house as well as on the canals in the sun. I got a sample and immediately ordered a full bottle, and the spray is even better than the dabber sample. To me, this is unique and somewhat hard to describe because it is blended so well and feels like more than the sum of its parts. For comparison, this is less sweet and fruity, and far more elegant than La Whatever (which I also love) and has the perfumers DNA but in a new, refined twist. Anybody who likes other F&M's should give this a try while you can. This is easily my favorite perfume purchase of the year and I think it will end up being highly sought after once it's gone.

This is an absolutely fantastic creation. Got it from my recent trip to Hong Kong in a little shop selling only niche perfume. The salesperson shared with me the meaning and significance of "under which the river flows". As the perfumer is a Muslim, according to the Koran: "But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding in them; an entertainment from their Lord, and that which is with Allah is best for the righteous", so the perfume is created with the image of paradise in mind. The way it is blended so perfectly with jasmine, white floral, rose, civet, musk and sandalwood.. to me, really creates that image whenever I put it on my skin. Grab it while you can cos it's a limited edition, then slowly figure out what it means to you and enjoy the beauty of eternal paradise.

I love what Rasei Fort did with Under Which Rivers Flow, it feels very different to other chypres currently available. I’d describe it as a smooth vintage fruity chypre with a vibe similar to Rockets (they’re called Smarties in the US). I see where people would get incense sticks from a head shop, but that’s not the case for me. The presentation is also gorgeous! The bottle reminds me of a whiskey decanter and the ornate cast metal cap is very heavy. Definitely would recommend sampling before purchasing, but those who love it will see and appreciate its beauty.

In Islamic culture the expression “under which river flow” is used to describe the Gardens of Eden. And here its like a world of perfumes trapped in a bottle— Fruity, woody, and animalic. The sweetness of Qamar al-Din syrup, delicately tempered with apple juice and sugary tangerine, unfolds into a floral, woody, and incense-laden heart. The base is a lavish masterpiece, reminiscent of a marble chest filled with oriental treasures—animalic musk, warm spicy saffron, and a lingering touch of sweetness.

beautiful presentation/bottle, lovely opening; very fruity and bright while retaining an ozonic quality to it. i definitely pick up that rose, ambergris and a little spice/balsamic quality and it slowly dries to a mossy-animalic base. smells like something classic guerlain would have done decades ago. nice!

I am surprised by how much I like this. I don't get any oud, and the civet for once didn't go 'pissy' on me! Amazing. To me it smells like what a fabulous new perfume way back when would smell like. It smells classic and classy; refined, but not aldehydic at all. Not that that is a note here but it resembles a perfume from days gone by that would have had aldehydes in it but does NOT smell like that. Geez, I hope that makes sense. I like it a lot but don't love it, except for the bottle.

It's difficult to write about this scent because my first impression is immediately that of an old-fashioned, elderly lady's fragrance. However, it is beautifully composed, with its notes in perfect balance. I can imagine very few people wearing this; one has to 'grow into' this scent.

Very heavy vintage style chypre designed as a tribute to the city of Venice, Italy. The scent opens with a plethora of overripe fruits including citruses, pear and apricot. This leads to a dense floral heart comprised of mostly rose and jasmine but also hints of sandalwood, labdanum and ambergris. The perfume settles on a powdery mossy bed of oakmoss, vanilla, patchouli, saffron, synthetic musks and tonka. The feminine leaning scent has strong projection and lasts forever, and discretion on the spray button is advised to avoid choking the room. The perfumes feels very dense and quite frankly has a matronly air to it, that may not find too many occasions to wear in modern settings. Of note is that the presentation of the perfume is exquisite. Sadly, I cannot say that of the perfume. Enjoy!

This fragrance makes me feel sick. Smells alot like those extremely cheap hippie incense sticks at a stoner head shop after fruits fade a bit. All the money went to presentation it seems.

First and foremost.. This is hands down one of the best presentation I've seen. I think Rasei Fort is under appreciated when you look at some of the things he's released ex: la whatever, last of d'agar.. I waited for this fragrance to be released for almost 2 years and I expected a dirty vintage typical chypre a la mitsouko. It is not, to me it is more on the sweet floral incense category. Worth sampling especially if you're a collector and fan of the brand but I can see why some people are disappointed. IG: eatandsmellgood
