Fossil 1954 for Men

Such a great cologne, the woody spiciness is paired so great with the sweetness, was my signature scent while this was being sold. I still have probably 30 MLs left of my bottle and it still smells amazing. Definitely a lot of colognes exists that do what this cologne does, but it holds a special place to me. I even messaged Fossil when they discontinued to see if I could get any more, to no avail.

Although marketed as a men’s fragrance (Fossil marketed a women’s version as well) I would say it’s a bit too sweet for that label, more like a unisex. Pleasantly sweet but quite heavy, it was actually a limited edition and is thus no longer produced (I bought it shortly before supplies were exhausted, as in addition to 1954 being the birth year of Fossil - and thus the production of this commemorative fragrance - it was my own birth year as well lol).

Got to test this today at my local Fossil - and by local, I mean I drove an hour north of town just to try this one, simply because of how intrigued I was with my favorite watch maker making a fragrance. I seriously wish I could say I wasn't disappointed, but that would be a lie. Before I say anything, I'd like to point out that I'm really not trying to bash this fragrance, or any fragrance like it, because if this kind of thing is your cup of tea, by all means - go for it. Anyway; right at the top, I feel like I get a blast of alcohol which QUICKLY changes into a mixture of peppery woods, mixed with a hint of rose. All that combined to me, made it kinda of smell like a sweet leather - unfortunately it's more of a CHEAP leather smell, but then, I don't believe leather is actually in this, so it's merely a vibe. After 10-15 minutes is when I got really disappointed, because it just turns into an alcoholic peppery lemon mid. Which to my nose, gives the same vibe as Versace Eros in a way, in that it smells like a tiny bit more "matured" version of Axe (Axe Phoenix in particular). Again, not bashing - but this comes to me in that form. If you like scents like this one, I'd almost say it's worth a try -- ALMOST. Let's go over why I most importantly said ALMOST. The performance is pretty pitiful. I honestly get better performance (i.e., longevity, sillage etc.) from D&G's The ONE - which of course you know gets bashed on a lot in that regard. Here I am, ~4 hours later, and it's pretty much right at the skin. Projection lasts a good hour, maybe. Overall, it's certainly not the worst I've ever smelled, but when you look at what they want for 50ml (which by the way, is the only size it comes in) it's just pitiful. They're charging as much as a NICHE fragrance. If you're looking to spend that kind of money on a designer fragrance, I'd go with Terre d'Hermes in a heartbeat - and I'm not even a fan of that one. Anyway -- give it a try before you spend a whopping $70 for a 50ml, because you'd certainly be more than disappointed if you get the vibes I did. Rating - 2.5/10

I'm not going to pretend to be competent in terms of notes or anything (my nose isn't trained), but I just tried this on my skin at a Fossil outlet and I'm torn straight down the middle with this scent. It has some qualities that are really strong, and others that just take away from it. Pros: -It smells great. Well-blended, complex, not too linear, and stands out while not smelling "alien" or too niche. -While it definitely fits the archetype the notes give it, it still has an identity within its genre. I can smell all the individual ingredients, but they're all cohesive, and this is with my untrained nose. Cons: -On my skin, projection and sillage are great for the first hour and a half and then it dies down to a skin scent (albeit an awesome one). -Longevity appears to be poor judging by how quickly it's dissipating on my skin. The disclaimer here is that my skin is VERY stubborn to nearly every scent, with the exceptions of Givenchy Pi, Lancome's Hypnose pour homme, and Armani Eau De Nuit (go figure). Overall, it's gonna be a pass for me because it simply isn't practical. It's kind of like a bodybuilder who can only run for 30 seconds because they never do any cardio. Cheers!

The opening is a sweet powdery wood which to my nose lies in the same vein as Dolce & Gabbana The One, or Express Reserve. The dry down reveals smokier, more resinous elements, as well as an increase in its musky qualities and in this stage it is more reminiscent of the drydown of Amouage Memoir Man, if you can believe it. It is not a replacement for any of the previously mentioned, but it is a well executed first release for the brand and the bottle design is quite nice as well. Suited for late autumn/winter.

It's a shame I can't find this anymore in shops but this was a lovely scent. I would say it's more unisex than anything else. This is more of a men's shower gel type smell, nice and clean.

Sound's interesting..i hope it will be avaiable in EU..and hope it will have quality just like their watches.. :) the botlle look's retro but also elegant..

citrus vanilla spice, hint of wood. it's a rather common fragrance. not bad, but it's all i have to say really. longevity: average sillage: modest

I own a few Fossil watches so this is interesting to me. Might have to get a whiff, maybe they will have this next time I go in their store.
