Belle d'Arles

I love Fragonard, and this is a wonderful perfume. Very rich, classy, refined. Almost makes me think of a more mature and exclusive version of La Vie Est Belle. It's big like that. Very classic in structure, citrusy top notes with a barely noticeable touch of peach in the first 30 seconds or so, heady white flowers and an intensely warm amber base. There is a decidedly creamy quality that seems a bit coconutty or almond-like. Borderline gourmand. This is a very easy perfume to wear and enjoy for anybody who enjoys a bold resinous perfume, like those that were made decades ago. It's nothing like the flimsy juices of the department stores. I find it is more of an amber than a floral, as the base grows bigger, steadily subduing the flowers. Big sillage, lasts all day. A high-quality and gorgeous offering from Fragonard. Update: I ended up purchasing a full bottle, and I had to come back to give a more accurate review. What a bummer that the perfume is not quite the same as the sample towelette. That one had enormous sillage and was a big fragrance. With the spray bottle, I get a lot less amber and more of the full range of notes better: peach in the first few minutes, though very subdued, citrus, and a lot more orange blossom. Still a beautiful perfume but much softer than the sample. Sillage is not nearly as big. It must have been more concentrated in the towlette? I still really like it and feel I will enjoy it as the weather is warming up. It will do better in the summer heat that I would have thought previously. Actually what took a while to purchase a bottle was that I was afraid it would be too strong (the towelette was the potency of the original Angel), so the fact that it's not nearly as intense is actually fine with me in this one instance.

Warm and sunny, like indian summer. In a way, comparaison with Classique and Poème is correct, it has that dark yellow, almost orange light and slightly fruity mellowness. It's hugable, like those cheerfull people who enjoy life, laugh, good food and wine and like to hug and occasionally squeeze others. I like it, but I can't wear it. I don't like how amber behaves on my skin, it overwhelms everything else and it's often too close to my own personal funk. But, for someone who loves orange blossom and enjoys wearing amber, this is perfect. Composition is harmonious and longevity epic. I prefer Fleur d'Oranger and Fleur d'Oranger Intense. Interestingly, all were composed by the same nose, Daniela Andrier aka the lady who did all Infusions for Prada. Two years later...I got myself perfumed hand cream and it's intoxicating. I can't stop smelling it...I might need a bottle. Anybody considering a bottle should get hand cream too. I also noticed that the heath chokes all the charm in it. I believe temperatures under 20°C, 68 F, to be more suitable for full enjoyment of this beauty. Three years later...I got a bottle about 6 months ago at the beginning of Autumn. And it's one of the most worn perfumes I have since. Great longevity, cozy and addictive dry down with still very present orange blossom. It was so warm and comforting during Winter. Absolute winner. Sometimes I like to lighten it up with Fleur d'Oranger. I don't usually layer, but these are perfect for it.

I got a sample of this. For orange blossom lovers! Love the amber base. The peach is very, very soft so don't be afraid to try this if you don't like peach notes. I agree with other reviewers that this has a grown-up quality (though does not smell old). This is not one of the sugary or fruity concoctions so popular these days. Different than other new perfumes coming out, and more reminiscent of a 90's perfume like Poeme. And although Belle d'Arles doesn't smell like Amarige, and actually I haven't smelled Amargie in years, for some reason it popped into my head. I think they share a bold femininity that makes me think of the early 90's. Yay Fragonard! Another triumph!

I blind bought this and luckily, I consider it a huge success. I can't really say that I have anything else exactly like this but I catch hints of a similar orange blossom note that dances around in Caramel Overdose. I also sense a hint of JPG Classique's OB note occasionally too. Not that they are dupes because they aren't. But sometimes a waft of one of those two scents flutters about me. Overall I love it but I would recommend that others test it first.

I'm surprised not many people seem to smell the similarities between Belle d'Arles and Prada La Femme. Even though both have been voted as similar to Lancôme Poème. The indolic, narcotic white flowers embedded in a honey like base (described as amber here). Warm, intense, sensual, but soft and uplifting. Wonderful. Quality wise, I think this one is a much better fragrance, with cleaner ingredients than La Femme.

I used the towelette on my arms today, and I'm obsessed. All day I was getting beautiful whiffs and sniffing my arms, and it has lasted over 12 hours! I'm a neroli lover, and this is really sweet and beautiful, but after 10 hours I realized - it smells like honey! The neroli + peach + amber really comes off as a honey smell. It's gorgeous, I'm getting a full bottle.

Summery, creamy, bright and lightweight scent. The opening has strong bergamot and orange blossom that slowly settle into the the neroli and amber notes. I could swear there's also some vanilla there, but maybe I'm confusing that with the warm amber and orange flower mix. Reminds me of a specific ice cream from my childhood. <3

This is one of my favorite scents. I just adore it. Very solar, warm, sweet but not overpowering in any way. Great longevity and sillage. I mostly wear it when it’s warmer but I find it very nice in the winter too for a little pop of sun. Just very comforting and pleasant.

Belle d’Arles is sheer rapture — a masterpiece with nothing to envy from the most prestigious yet all-too-banal Tom Fords. It embodies sophistication while whispering a soft, velvety minimalism in diffused white hues. Ecstasy distilled.

This feels warm and summery. Floral without being dated, feels happy and young. I will very much enjoy wearing this in the late spring/early summer. Lasts a long time on clothing.

Belle d'Arles is a beautiful, simple fragrance that charmingly celebrates orange blossom 🌼 While orange blossom is the focal point of this composition, the amber accord makes its presence known, adding a smooth, resinous base for the florals to rest upon. The neroli top note adds a slight aromatic nuance, reminiscent of petitgrain but softer around the edges. If petitgrain is ink, then neroli is a blotch of watercolor 🎨 I can't detect the peach here, but I suspect it is used sparingly to slightly sweeten the composition, though I would not categorize this fragrance as sweet. This fragrance finally made me understand why Orange Blossom is occasionally described as animalic 🐾 When it aligns with the amber accord, it gives off a sensual intimacy 🧡 I appreciate the use of Orange Blossom Absolute in this composition; it allows us to experience the highly concentrated orange blossom note in its raw and exposed form. I agree with Anamandy's comment below, the amber deepens this fragrance, making it great for seasonal transitions—perfect for Spring and Autumn. The bottle and illustrations are beautiful, this line from Fragonard is a real treat. I do have to admit, though, that I like Bel Oranger by Fragonard slightly more. It is a woodier composition that reminds me of citrus picking in an orchard 🍊🌳

Sampling from a towelette. Orange blossoms wrapped in amber. Almost a candyish quality to it, but it is not gourmand or excessively sweet. Not picking up the peach much, though it adds a light sweetness, but I get the bergamot and neroli very strong in the top. They then recede to the background, but are always there, when the orange blossom and amber come forward. A really beautiful, smooth transition. Fantastic longevity with lovely wafts all day. I put it on at 8am and it is still going strong right now at 11 pm. This would make a good seasonal transition fragrance because I think it is too light weight for cold weather, and the heavy amber presence might make it a little too heavy for hot. Right now, this is wearing beautifully in the fall, and I think will wear just as beautifully in the spring. While not my cup of tea as I'm not the biggest fan of amber, I still think this is a very nice fragrance that is well made and smells a lot more expensive than what it actually cost. If you are a lover of those notes, check this out. I don't think you will be disappointed with this one.

The first time I sprayed this fragrance I thought somebody had replaced the juice with Prada Paradoxe! The notes aren’t exactly the same but the way it is built must be giving that vibe. I would describe it as a more natural and old world version of Prada Paradoxe. It doesn’t come across as particularly citrus to me but has a significant amount of white floral and amber. The dry down is lovely and I can even smell it the next day. The fragrance is growing on me more and more and it is distinct from other fragrances in my collection.

At first, I was disappointed by the opening, which offers an extremely clean orange blossom, very similar to the brand’s own Fleur d’Oranger. But you actually need to wait around five minutes for the composition to slowly evolve into a slightly honeyed, amber-tinged orange blossom. It then becomes subtly gourmand and quite sensual, with the orange blossom taking on a gently sweet character. Great value for money.

Soft dreamy white floral scent. I'm using a sample fragrance sheet Fragonard sent with an order of other scents so can't say it's the full experience of a spray bottle, but it's a very pleasant spring scent for a mediteranean country side. Leans feminine but very nice. Natural, high quality as always with Fragonard. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 6

A lot of neroli and orange blossom, a little bit of peach for the sweetness, warm amber in the drydown. The opening reminds me of baby products scents, bright and comforting. A very nice scent, very natural like all Fragonard perfumes. I got to test it from a wipe, it's soft but long lasting, suitable under warm temperatures.

Pretty and a compliment getter, if that's what you're looking for. Love the blend of citrus-y florals and amber together, another easy reach and well-blended offering from Fragonard.

This is a natural neroli. It’s very well done. Clean and straigtforward. Strong and longlasting. For all ages. Signature worthy for those who like natural neroli. At first sniff it’s similar to Secrets d’Essences Neroli from Yves Rocher, though in Belle d’Arles there’s no bitter orange. Also, the neroli really stand out - it’s almost like pollen from neroli was dropped directly into the bottle. In general Fragonard creates stunningly authentic florals. When it’s all dried down and just before it becomes a skin scent it draws parallels to Poeme by Lancome. This is the part I like the most. Allthough it lacks the yellow florals and the sweetness found in Poeme.

It is fumey. All i can say is that it is a fumey and a bit dusty orange blossom. I expected much of Daniela Roche as she is the composer of my favourite perfume very talented on powdery notes. Not that it is a bad perfume but guessing on the notes i thought of powdery mimosa. It is nothing like jpg or poeme. Maybe the dry down has a resemblance but the journey is totally different. It should not be a blind buy as i did!

this opens with neroli and a woody amber. after awhile i get a somewhat sweet synthetic orange blossom note along with peach. gaultier's classique was my signature scent in college and it does remind me of it somewhat. this has one of those synthetic orange blossoms, whereas i prefer the more natural smelling ones. the neroli is gorgeous though! it fades from the beginning however.
