Belle de Nuit

I truly adore this scent and like to wear it a lot. It is so fresh, green, pastel (melange of light) colour floral, dewy and feminine. This is the scent I wear a lot at work, because it is a very pleasant, innocent (not in a single way childish) perfume, BUT, it is unique enough to turn heads and be astonishing wearing this. It is pleasant to smell, and although it is not a powerhouse (moderate sillage), it isn't another flower bouquet slammed in your face. It does hold up to 6-9 hours on my skin (dryer skin type that is). The similarity to J'Adore would not be mine to make (J'Adore smells more like yellow/golden flowers), but if I had to appoint a cousin, I would say Dior Miss Dior, and maybe a flowery flanker even more. It is the same vibe they're on (fresh watery flowers). So I do get the relation to the House Dior, which has a approach on florals. Easy to wear, day and night. Especially at night, when it reminds me of early spring evenings. The air getting a little chilly when the sun is down after a sunny day and the air smells like the flowers that did bloom that day. Must be the scent bees fall in love with. So I do get the name (I like to believe). As it opens, it gently let's all the flowers have a say (can't really tell them apart) and throughout the hour, other notes softly emerge. What baffled me a little was that this perfume, has rose in it, but gives the rose a more.. backing role in this. Which is a little odd for a perfume made in Grasse France. It's so well blended in, and gives the rose a whole new role to play and it suits. So for people who are not that fond of roses, do not worry and take a whiff yourself. Another thing, Belle de Nuit is not sweet. Not sugary sweet. The only sweetness is has are from the ingredients itself, and precisely that makes her more of an adolescent then a teenager. With that said, it would fit any age still. And all this, is what makes an extraordinary scent. I will get another bottle.

A beautiful young at heart fragrance that brings the fun back in floral. Belle de Nuit starts off fresh, not quite citrusy but tangy. The main theme for me plays out in a harmony of ylang-ylang, jasmine/rose and musk. The overall impression is clean, almost soapy but very, very invigorating and soft simultaneously. Despite the name referencing a night blooming flower, I cannot help but feel the warmth of the sun whenever I wear this perfume. Another reviewer said it smells Disney princess like and that is correct, you can feel like a fairy tale character wearing it. An easy love for floral-curious people, it has it all - freshness, warmth and longevity. I think I've reached peak Fragonard obsession with a big golden bottle of the EDT, despite île d'amour still being my favourite from their line.

As I sit having a sniff of a few fragrances that I let sit in the back of my cabinet, I pulled this one out. It’s such a beautiful floral almost tropical without the coconut. Tropical floral. I love it and I really hope this doesn’t disappear so soon. I sniffing this on my arm and find it to work well with my chemistry. I am a gardenia lover so of course I love it. It’s a true gardenia, the ylang ylang rounds it out making it a bit more yellow floral in the dry down. Sillage is good and I love the way it smells on me when I move. I am glad I have this in my collection. Highly recommended 10/10 Just perfect for springtime.

So beautiful... very similar to J’adore but better! Has less of vintage feel than J’adore does, ie anyone of any age could wear this and it would be lovely. To me it smells a lot smoother and more wearable than J’adore, when can on occasion feel a bit harsh (although I still really like it!). It is clean and a touch soapy, floral and a touch musky. A bit laundry like but overall such a gentle smell. Very Disney princess like! This is why Princess Aurora would smell of for sure! So beautiful and definitely worth adding to your collection if you like feminine, soft, elegant, smooth fragrance.

It's name really suits it. A warm and seductive scent. I get equal amounts of rose, musk and plum. Not too sweet or heavy. The geranium adds just the right amount of kick to lift the scent. I get the violet after a short while. The dry down is about musk, a touch of ylang and violet. A very pretty scent for evening wear as a bit too much for daywear. It's an evening scent for a lady. That doesn't mean it has an old lady smell. There is a refinement. I guess it's that uniquely French Je nais c'est quoi. I get moderate longevity and sillage.

It smells nothing like J'adore to me. In fact, this perfume reminds a lot of a tissue brand that I loved. It's predominant violet on me, with poor to moderate longevity and silage. Like many people mentioned, it's fresh, floral, feminine. It's a very good safe choice when you don't know what to wear. I also noticed that it performs better in warmer days than in colder days, as it gets very soapy in cold weather.

On me it is J'adore with a soul. Don't get me wrong. I like J'adore and I used to recommend it for others when I worked seasonally in fragrances. But on me it had no depth. Something about the extra plum and spice in Belle is what my chemistry needs to find the magic that is J'adore on others. I love Belle de Nuit. It somehow reminds me I don't need youth to be beautiful.

This is a beautiful bouquet of dewy florals. I smell mostly gardenia, a touch of ylang ylang, and a juicy, ripe plum - a hint of muskiness. I don't really detect rose - but all the florals blend very nicely. I haven't smelled J'adore so I can't compare. I really like this on its own merit - beautifully done with good longevity and projection.

This is a gorgeous, big fragrance. It is ultra feminine and full of lush flowers but it wears close to the skin so its not cloying but enticing. I don't really smell any of the individual elements but I get a lot of night-blooming white flowers and maybe some rose. I have this in the parfum...love it! I definitely would like another bottle.

Belle de Nuit is my treasure from Paris. Every visit to Paris is also a visit to Fragonard, near to L'Opera Garnier. This fragrance is just amazing! Heavenly beautiful. I love it. I agree that it has a lot in common with Dior's J'Adore wich is also one of my favorites. I love the bottle and of course the box. Treasure it is ;-)

Thank you Kastehelmi for this beauty! It is indeed an upgrade on J'Adore. J'Adore has this note, really turning me off, but this one certainly is perfect! I would not type it an oriental floral though. More is it a floral to my nose, maybe with some fruits too, but mostly floral. LOVELY!

I LOVE this scent! It is now my absolute favourite. If only it was sold in my city. I don't know anywhere in Canada to get it so I have to order online or my last bottle was purchased in England for me. Nice warm scent, lovely!

This is extraordinary perfume. For special occasions. I love that after few hours after spraying it on the scent is still clean, unlike a lot of perfumes that turn to scent dirty after some time

Sweet charming lovely flower fragragrance with temper... Violet&rose have never been so well balanced in a seductive and not too sweet fresh spycy mix. Irresistible! Well done Fragonard!

Perfect evening perfume. I imagine the beautiful women from old black and white films smelled like that. And the price is really good too. I bought the 200 ml bottle for 44 €.

i found a set of ten mini fragonard fragrances and this is one of them. Ultra feminine and exquisite scent and it lasts almost all day! My fiance loves it.

I want to try this! The previous man's review right before me has me sold...as well as the notes and of course being FRAGONARD :-)

Perhaps it was J'Adore attempted which tried copy this gorgeous, classic Fragonard?

I like this scent very much, but it is not as love for me. It is a bit too sweet and fruity for my tastes, with a very strong note of plum permeating the whole development of this fragrance. I also don't smell any ylang ylang or gardenia, which is a shame since I love those notes. I also don't know what mirabilis smells like, but here on Fragrantica it says that it is very sweet so that is probably contributing to the sweetness as well. I do get a good dose of rose, violet and geranium in the heart notes, but the rose in this perfume is not a naturalistic rose and smells a bit like some sort of sweet rose syrup to me. It's nice, but again much too sweet. The violet note is lovely though and is fairly naturalistic smelling. In the dry down, I can then smell the musk and again the plum of course, but I'm not getting any of the wood, which I actually prefer. It is a pretty and feminine fragrance that I could imagine a young girl in her teens or a very young woman in her twenties would probably love, since fruity florals are so popular right now. They give me a bit of a migraine though. I could imagine this being worn in either spring or fall for night time wear and it could be worn at both casual and dressy occasions. The price is also fairly cheap too for a perfume, so it would make a great first "serious" fragrance for a teenage girl or a very young woman. Sillage was moderate on me and it wore for about 6 hours on my skin, so lasting power is quite good for this price. As I said before, I liked this, but nothing wowed me. I could have done without the mirabilis and plum and I would have liked more gardenia and ylang ylang. Still, this perfume was fairly nice and so I'd give it 71/100 percent altogether.

My best friend brought me a bottle of Belle de Nuit as a present from Eze. At first smell, I thought "This is a scent I know but which..." then an hour later I got it: J'Adore. It smells a lot like J'Adore but I like Belle de Nuit better -because J'Adore gives me headache, it's too cloying and it reminds some unwanted memories :). In Fragonard's site, headline for this fragrance says :"Belle de Nuit is an original, deep rich harmony of flowers and fruit on a warm velvety bottom note of musk. A precious fragrance, as magical as an Arabian night!" Well, they got it right because Belle de Nuit is a strong floral musk which reminds you of that hot, sand-coloured and sun-washed places and the oriental air of their women. %76 volume edp is -of course- quite durable, it basically lives with you. It feels very feminine; it's not like overly trying to be sexy but knowing yourself and your charm and appreciating it. Confident, warm and rich. In short, beautiful :)

Toured the Fragonard factory in Grasse this summer and discovered this. Hubby chose it. I like it. It's a "heavier" fragrance. I would consider it grand or elegant, for established women, not girls. I have worn it for a special date night in the summer, VERY sparingly, and it was OK. I think it is better suited to use this more in the cooler weather months and more for a special occasion, including date night, and other occasions you want to grab someone's attention. This is not a wall flower perfume. However, I think it is too much for office wear, including power positions (doctor, lawyer, CEO, etc.), casual days and small confined spaces. However, the same positions may find it works for them in larger spaces like conferences and social functions. I have J'adore and I find no comparison to it. Belle Nuit is much more "top shelf". It definitely makes a statement.

This is my mom's HG scent and I love it! She bought it in Grasse and it is the most beautiful scent I have smelled in years. A true angel, beauty scent. Very unique and is a niche market product, which feels nice to own. Usually I do not favor any fruity or flowery scents, but this is a major exception. Perhaps due to the fact that the flowers and fruits are highlighted with musk, which makes this a warm arabian-like smell. It also has a beautiful gold bottle package. This is a very mature, somewhat noble fragrance for self-sufficient women. And although this is quite pricey, it is worth all the money. This is probably the same for all the Fragonard scents since they're all best quality.

What this Belle de Nuit left on my skin is a scent of rose and plum, accompanied by a slight woody and musky note in the base. Geranium and ylang-ylang make their presence felt, light and subtle, after a few minutes. It’s gently sweet, without being overwhelming. I’m quite surprised because it’s compared to J'adore, but in reality, I find it much “warmer” than the Dior, which is much fresher and more spring-like. In the end, it truly lives up to its name; it’s a Beauty of the Night, less sun-drenched and deeper. I think it’s very nice – I like this sweet plum – and the bottle of the EDP version is also quite beautiful; it will probably be purchased at some point.

Lovely! I didn't know this before but I was enchanted at Fragonard in Grasse! I had Fleur d'Oranger instead, but this one could be a nice online purchase in fall! I see many compares this one to J'adore... Mmm, not really so. They have something in common, but J'adore is one of my least favourite fragrances! Belle de Nuit smells much better with only some resemblance. Plum is gentle and violet is soft and blended in. It is extremely feminine and happy, also sensual and intense without being heavy or cloying. It really has a French ladylike vibe and it's not too serious at the same time. It lasted about 3-4 hours on my skin becoming better and better. A beauty!

Wow, what a lovely, feminine, bright fragrance! Of course you must be a white flower lover to appreciate that. It is similar to Tuberose Gardenia and Cabotine. (I see it has been compared to j'adore, not really for me, it's more a tuberose gardenia). It's intense, and after a fresh initial blast, it turns into a creamy soft, feminine frag. Heady tuberose, buttery gardenia, jasmine. Some Lily. Some green. A musky drydown. A little masterpiece. I smell it and it evokes the color white, to me. I'd see it perfect as a bride's fragrance. Young, feminine, classic. A little bit like a woman in the Fifties...

Based on EDT concentration. Once applied, there is a whiff of creamy gardenia in the opening of Fragonard Belle de Nuit. But it's soon overtaken by a soapy, intense concoction of crisp, tart rose, plum and geranium. Interestingly, as the scent gradually settles down, some jasmine and gardenia re-emerge, which eventually turns Belle de Nuit into a translucent white floral lotion-like skin scent. The sillage is moderate and the longevity around 10 hours. Belle de Nuit is an elegant floral, quite suitable year-round and versatile. It would be a lovely gift to those who tolerate soapy fragrances.

A beautiful oriental fruity floral. The flowers are intense and the plum is the perfect touch of sweet, juicy, ripe fruit without being syrupy and sugary. I smell a beautiful bouquet of flowers, not necessarily one flower in particular. This perfume has excellent projection and lasting strength. For being a fruity floral, it's quite rich and luxurious. I typically don't wear fragrances with such strong florals, but I'd make an exception for Belle de Nuit. I find it similar to J’Adore, but it’s richer and more elegant, where as J’Adore is more playful in a way.

I have been wearing "J'adore" for a few years and Belle de Nuit EDP is quite similar, but there is something tarter in Belle de Nuit which disturbs me a little. It is certainly fresher than J'adore. Yet it's a good alternative beacause it's much cheaper than J'adore. However I'd like to point out that there is a big difference between the EDP and the EDT. I bought the EDT this spring, and I was really disappointed...no character, superficial, just sharp, agressive, whereas the EDP seemed more sophisticated and sensual.

I'm reviewing Belle de nuit EDT, which I hope is the correct page. The scent instantly transported me a couple of decades back, but I couldn't remember what it reminded me of. I have never owned J'adore, as I suffer from this weird compulsion that makes me steer away from trendy items, but I remember the time when every other girl was wearing J'adore or a dupe. Belle de nuit is a well made perfume, like all Fragonards I've tried so far, and a beautiful floral. Not my style, but I can understand the high ratings here.

For me not as harsh as jadore. There are some flowerish scents that i love on someone else but turns very itchy and scratchy on me like jadore and beyond paradise. I think i need some creamy blending in my white flower bombs. This one has this vibe so i can use it safely from the first sniff. Definately first class deserves more compliments İt works well on skin but stays more complex and divine on clothing, esp. wool Can be a perfect winter scent.

It is a classic and elegant french perfume with the notes of roses, plum, violet and white flowers. Rose dominates. It is be a signature scent. Safe blind buy for woman (very feminine), for all the ages. Effortless, compatible with open space, etc. The sillage and the longevity are excellent for an eau de toilette. The price is excellent, the ratio quality/price is amazing! 8/10 Similar to J'adore of Dior!

Incandescent and bright composition. Dinamic and irresistible.The Midnight Sun. Plum, violet and rose are dominant in the opening with light soap touch. The geranium gives a bit slightly- bitter green undertone to this energetic and sublime accord. Musk and rose aromas sweeten the finish of this georgeous scent. Luxorious,elegant royal essence for womens with honour who forces the men to their knees.

Very nice. Almost decided to buy, then remembered...I have something like this! Reminds me of Estee Lauder, Beyond Paradise. Warm, tropical, white floral... Top: mirabilis, ylang, gardenia. Heart: violet, geranium, rose. Base: Plum, woods, musks. Predominately, gardenia, I do not pick up on rose, unless I rub my skin and then smell something more sweet, melodic.

I'm a really big fan of how Fragonard does rose! I got this as a sample blotter with my order of Rose Lavande (one of my all-time favorite perfumes) and it sure does have traces of the same lovely rose. Belle de Nuit smells more bubbly, more sparkly - just happier. I don't get any plum whatsoever from this.

This does in fact remind me of J'Adore. A very beautiful grounded rose scent, approachable, wearable for everyday and not sickly sweet. Fresh without citrus, which I think makes it more suited autumn to spring. A lovely all-rounder perfume for when you just want to smell GOOD.

Very sophisticated and airy oriental.I can smell the plum and rose very intensive on a soft musky base. Great for special occasions and those moments when you want to make an impression. Can be worn year round.

Edt version. It is similar to J'adore but not a copy, more like a drydown of it. I like it better because J'adore is too loud for me and Belle de nuit is much softer. Longevity is good.

Most of all I feel the sour plum note in this fragrance. It reminds a lot J`adore by Dior. I don't like fragrances which remind another fragrances. That is all that I can say.

A beautiful, sexy and sophisticated scent! my boyfriend loves it and when i'm wearing it i get a lot of compliments.. totally worth it.

It smells like a very floral and musky Loulou - Cacharel. As I love Loulou, I like Belle de Nuit. Nice, feminine, light and romantic.

I bought this on a recent trip to Paris. Not my every day favourite, but a special scent I pull out from time to time.

Testing from a towelette sent to me by Fragonard with their latest catalogue. This is like a flanker of J'Adore. Actually, it is more than similar to me. It's almost the same scent, and most certainly could pass for something in that lineup. I happen not to care for it because it has that same melony type fruit note that is in J'Adore. That is surprising since there is nothing listed in the note profile that could account for that. Still, that aside, it has nice silage and excellent longevity and performs much better than current J'Adore does. It is also bargain priced compared to that scent too, which is a big plus. So, if you like J'Adore but are put off by the price or the performance, this would be a good alternative. I doubt you'll be disappointed or find much difference in the scent.

I bought this when I was in Eze, France last summer and I loved it at the factory! However, the fragrance has lost me. I won’t wear it because it does smell way too mature for me and I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s not a youthful scent. Maybe it’s the heavy ness of the rose I don’t like. Anyway, the tour was amazing so I’ll keep my bottle for memories.

First impressions: (sample dabber) PLEASE NOTE: I got this from my mom she sent it to me, and it’s been years since she’s had this so if the notes are reformulated I wouldn’t know. Nor would I know if the notes went off/expired or not. Ehh a very basic rose perfume. Not surprising me. Does not smell like j’adore AT ALL to me.

Midnight Fantasy and Tea Rose meet for a tryst in a hedge maze, saying, "J'adore!" while Lou Lou watches with Envy. Plums are tasted, roses are plucked. Night flowers bloom, then fade after a few hours, leaving a long trail of powdery musk behind. No one speaks of it in the daytime.

201 I expected this to be better based on reviews. To me it starts out fresh, green(like grass), and then a tart watery(not quite aquatic) fruitiness with cheap musk comes in. It reminds me of a dryer sheet or shampoo. 6/10 disappointing! Would not repurchase.

Fruity floral but not too sweet. Somewhat soapy and fresh. Aldehydes. Kinda does remind me of J’adore.

I like the mild opening, the rich notes, but sadly I don’t like this kind of white creamy dry down. It’s the same thick sensation in Belle Chérie. Edit : One year later and I changed so much? I couldn’t stand any milky floral, how is it possible ? Belle de Nuit is a sumptuous and silky bouquet, I can’t get enough of it! I feel like a goddess wearing this gem. Just dreamy.

The rose hits me right away...this is very much a floral dominant fragrance. Also somewhat powdery, probably from the violet. If you love floral fragrances, I highly recommend this - it's a beautiful composition. Since floral-predominant fragrances aren't my thing, it's not for me, but others will LOVE it!
