Belle De Paris

This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Right up there with Infusion d’Iris (turns out they have the same nose! Hardly a shock), but to me it has just a more heft, more presence, though still soft and ethereal. They don’t smell the same, but they are both masterpiece iris perfumes. Actually I find this perfume more complex and impressive. Here I get more of a face powder, orris root scent as it dries down. This is marvelous because I went through a phase where I spent a lot of time and money looking for a great cosmetic powder perfume, but most of them only started like this and didn’t last. This has a beautiful base of creamy face powder that lasts for hours. It’s well-balanced with something clean and bright at first spray. The overall effect is clean, elegant versatile. I can see this with a tshirt and jeans but also with a cocktail dress out to a nice dinner. I don’t notice any incense, but that could be because I spent too many years wearing churchy incense perfumes. Sillage is great. One spray to the wrists last the entire day and smells marvelous on the cuffs of my sweaters. It’s autumn, and I have been reaching for it daily for weeks now. You can’t go wrong with the price for a big 100 mL bottle. Every fragrance in this line is complex and perfectly balanced. It’s also diverse enough that anybody should be able to find a favorite. I hope Fragonard keeps up this winning streak!

This is lovely and feels like the kind of fragrance I've been searching for for a long time. It feels very classic and quite proper, maybe a little old-fashioned but still refreshing and not grandma-ish (although its pretty timeless so i can see a grandma wearing it!) instead it is mysterious and sophisticated. The kind of fragrance left behind on a beautiful silk scarf. The opening is a little fruity but on me this quickly gives way to the violet and iris. The violet is candy sweet (like parma violet sweets) and brings some fun and brightness to the soapy and more serious iris note. After about 30 minuets its dries down to a soft and powdery note that reminds me of cold cream on a cotton ball but the violet note is still detectable. I wasn't expecting Belle De Paris to last long but it actually lasts a decent 4-5 hours and longer on clothes. Overall, a delight that I am enjoying wearing in the autumn weather, the £40 UK price for 100ml is also excellent value!

Such a nice clean floral scent, not sweet at all kinda musky and ever so slightly incensey. Smells like a meadow. Powdery, clean and soft. It’s smells cold yet cosy. I love wearing this to bed or just lazing around the house reading a book. It’s sunday vibes in a bottle. Fresh laundry but better. Understated and inoffensive. Upon first spritz it smells clean, fresh out the shower. I smell the Iris but it’s powdery and light. I do get a little citrus/green in the opening and the incense in the background which doesn’t last long, it’s barely there. Dry down is mellow slightly creamier, maybe I can smell the pear lingering. It’s so calming. I imagine it being a beautiful scent to wear in the spring time. But it’s also so comforting right now during winter. I reckon you could pull this off most seasons.

Daniela Andrier excelles in producing perfumes that are variations of the same theme, one more stunning than the other and this could be one of the Infusions d'Iris. I smell everything listed and it's lovely, like an aura of cleanness, bright and diaphanous. I love the combination of neroli, incense and cedar with iris. The dry down is less compact and defined than expected. It reinforces the overall ethereal almost abstract impression. Very persistent, very musky, woody and smoky iris. Minimalistic and elegant. The efforless wear. Cold and fresh. It should help during summer heath. Great quality.

I was hoping I wouldn't like this, but unfortunately I think I love it. I am a big fan of heavy, powdery, creamy, vintage makeup-y iris/orris perfumes. This is not that. Belle de Paris is a light and fresh take on iris, perfectly balanced with the violet, over a base of clean musk. A very affordable perfume in the same genre as Penhaligon's Artemisia. Fragonard really keeps impressing me with their perfumes, they're all so ridiculously pretty and well-balanced!

Beautiful, joyful iris. It's powdery, fresh, sweet and juicy all at once. I don't find it similar to Infusion d'Iris, which I think is very formal and cold. This is more dynamic and effervescent. I also don't get that much violet from it at all, contrary to what other reviewers have said. I get a little, but it's not violet-forward. I've been looking for the perfect all-occasion iris fragrance and this might be it. It's just so pretty! An easy reach, too.

Belle de Paris is a diaphanous lady who has a lot of good taste. She went for a walk in the sun on the streets of Paris after bathing in an infusion of iris and powdering his face. She is gorgeous and radiates well-being, cleanliness, elegance and a lot of common sense. You don't turn your head after her because her scent screams, but after her charming aura of mystery. Thank you, Mrs Andrier and Fragonard!

Sampling a towelette. Soft natural iris, bit powdery, hint of citrus and soft woods. Unlike Dior Homme and Prada L'Homme, this isn't particularly lip sticky. It's soft, ethereal, more transparent than those. Very nice for a woman. I might wear it Sundays in doors, but a bit too feminine for me to wear. I enjoy it tho. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7

This is very nice. I think it’s softer than Prada’s. Belle de Paris has a wonderful cosmeticky scent I enjoy. I like this better than Zara’s Romance d’Iris, which I kinda regretted buying without testing it first. Update: 3/4/2024. I think this is one of the better Iris-Violet fragrance I have smelled. It’s beautiful.

Initially had the bar soap of this and oh my gosh it is one of the most magical scent Ive ever smelled. So soft, whimsical, calming, a quiet luxury to say the least. So beautiful. Im over the moon to see that they've got a matching perfume of it.

My friend just got Belle de Paris, and I have to say the bottle is absolutely stunning 😍✨ I own Bel Oranger and have Belle d'Arles on my wish list, so it’s safe to say I’m a big fan of this line from Fragonard. Belle de Paris is a beautiful scent, perfect for everyday wear. It opens with a delightful combination of neroli and pear, flows into a lovely floral iris heart, and settles on a comforting base of white musk 🍐🌷 The iris here feels more floral and less powdery or vegetal than other irises I’ve smelled, giving it a broader, more universal appeal. That said, when it comes to iris, I personally want more powder and carrot LMAO 🥕😂 Still, this fragrance leaves an impression of quiet confidence and feels effortless to pull off.

Agree with the comments, that violets lead this composition. The pleasant flower accord is juicy due to the peach and has nice woody tones. It is not plain, although remains more or less same during the development. Light, yet vivid little bouquet for the spring (have not tried it yet during other seasons). I had a pretty dull experience with Prada's Iris, which I percieve as a white paper of a good quality with some very distant flowery shadows. I am happy, that Fragonard's Iris is nothing close to that: the powder here is not dominating, although I get the shadow of it, and it becomes more evident in the last phase.

This is a safe buy for some. The opening is light powder and violet in a good way. However, it reminds you of a lighter version of a vintage perfume I cant quite remember now. The iris is smoothly blended with the violet here and nothing is loud. Nice. It reminds me indeed of a Parisienne who deftly combines simple clothes and totally look casual chic in the streets of Paris. It is not the same as Infusion d'Iris. A little more chic than others in the Belle series, except Belle de Nuit which stands out among all. But having mentioned vintage-smelling, I decided its not my type.

For anyone familiar with Prada's offerings, this will be right up your alley. Think Infusion d'Iris (or any of the variations and formulations... I've lost track.), with a slight bit more musk and violet, and if you're getting this in Paris, a much much lower price point. As with any scents that smell clean, this is unisex. Classy, refined, elegant, posh, and any other synonyms you can think of. This smells nice without ever being loud or brash. Of all the Fragonard offerings, this has to be one of the safest blind buys, unless you dislike clean, powdery and soft scents.

An opening made of iris and fruits (a lot of tangerine, a little bit of pear). The fruits quickly fade to give way to the iris, the real star of this perfume. I only smell a small hint of violet and no incense. Not being a big fan of iris, unsurprisingly, I don't feel particularly excited about this perfume but I must admit that the smell is nevertheless pleasant. My husband really liked it; he likes this kind of soft and delicate perfume, almost clean, very romantic or even nostalgic. Belle de Paris is worth it if you like iris, excellent value for money.

Sampled Belle de Paris eau de toilette (launched 2021) because I'm exploring iris. Definitely get the opening green mandarin and neroli notes, followed by delicate iris and underlying incense. Would have to test this further as I only had a fragrance swatch. So far I like this simple springtime scent.✿ Scent family: Floral Longevity on me: moderate

Mmmm. Powdery, classy, VINTAGE sophistication. The incense and iris are a brilliant combination. The incense keeps it from smelling too powdery. If you like vintage or "old fashioned" fragrances, give this a try. Very feminine, but at the same time I can imagine this being gender neutral. It's refreshing to smell this because it's unique.

This has unmistakingly the Daniela Roche touch/dna. Neroli, powdery Iris, violet and Musk, all well mixed together with a fruity backbone. All year weather scent in my opinion, leaning feminine.

Is it violet or iris? It is both, in a watery, herbal, floral and powdery frame. A quiet whisper of spring in a beautiful bottle.

Lovely and simple. Longevity is OK - picked this up in the summer and cannot wait to see how this fares throughout the seasons.

Another beautiful perfume by Fragonard. I felt classy and individual wearing it. Perfect for a spring/summers day.

Oh wow, I am completely puzzled about this one. From the reviews I thought it's probably not for me (vintage, powdery, ladylike, etc) and they all may have a point, but I wasn't expecting something like this at all. BdP is nothing like I've ever smelled before. It is very light and gentle, maybe that changes everything from the usual eau de parfums? On the initial whiff it does remind very much an old fashioned powder and makeup, but that lasted less than 5 seconds and then starts this very confusing yet intriguing iris and incense dance that I am never sure what to think of. It's none of the "perfumy" heavy incense scent nor sweet candy-alike fruity floral that I'm used to, there is definitely nothing heavy about this scent, if I have to describe I feel like this is a bit like...paper scent? A hand-made artisanal paper in perfect ivory color? Or it is a bit like stepping into a room with expensive furniture and velvet curtains, definitely full of things from the past. Maybe similarly confusing experience I had with Memoir d'une odeur from Gucci, although BdP is much more confusing and much more interesting.

Violets! Dry, powdery violets. That's the main note to my nose and I absolutely love it. I have been looking for a dry powdery violety iris perfume for some time, like Insolence without the sweetness; and this is that, but so soft I can barely smell it. It is even much lighter than Prada's Infusion d'Iris, (also made by Andrier) which is saying something as I have to douse myself in that to smell it, which is why I don't own it. I usually go for veil-type fragrances, but this is way too light for me, and even lighter than most body mists on the market today. I am trying this from a towelette, (which I wound up using heavily), but maybe this needs to be sprayed on to get more silage. I'm just not willing to buy a bottle to find out, no matter how much I love Daniela Andrier as a perfumer. So, even though I love what I can smell as it is very pretty, the performance issue makes this a regrettable pass.

I was looking forward to trying this and finally got the chance to do a decent test today. I was hoping that this would be more iris focused in that veil-like diaphanous way, but it’s actually more violet dominant. I don’t think this smells anything like prada infusion d’iris, it’s closer in smell to Guerlain insolence. It has a vintage powdery and sweet violet scent. It’s very reminiscent of Parma Violet sweets, so good for those who like vintage make-up scents. But sadly not for me.

Not Iris. I don't smell any powdery, lovely fragrant iris flowers. I don't know what this is. Don't care for it much. Pretty bottle and box though.

Very soft powdery perfume, smells too vintage and old fashioned for my taste, something my grandmother could wear because it smells like the kind of scents that were popular when she was young. I dislike the alcoholic and peppery opening, it does not last long, 2 or 3 hours on the skin, I haven't tried it on clothes. As all Fragonard perfumes it is good value for money, it is not my type but if you are looking for a vintage, makeup like scent, you might want to give this a try!

Landing somehow at a sweet spot between the posh, pale, polished Infusion d'Iris (also by Daniela Andrier, of course) and the creamy, soft-woody greenness of Philosykos. Re: that last comparison, I don't detect fig, but Belle de Paris resembles the musky-sweet, connective tissue that holds Philosykos together. On its own terms, Belle de Paris is sunny, softly sweet, clean, laundry-ish, and atmospheric -- doesn't read as perfume necessarily, but an uncannily clean aura that is still warmly human (vs antiseptic or soapy); smells like clean leather goods -- a buttery soft new handbag, perhaps, with an underpinning of sweet, starchy, cooked carrots and violet powder. In spite of its great similarity to my beloved Infusion d'Iris, I would still like a bottle of this.

Nice affordable iris scent! It opens with similar vibes to Prada's infusion d'iris, in other words a woody, slightly aquatic iris. However, it changes in the drydown as a powder, more cosmetic-like iris: clean and sweet (but not too sweet!) Moderate longevity (6hr) and I assumed it stayed close to the skin, until I received some comments about its sillage. This made me think that others perceive the fragrance more than me and that I somehow got nose blinded. It is not an innovative fragrance, on the contrary it has a classic-timeless vibe, but it is very well executed and the price point is very reasonable

I appreciate that the iris is more subtle than other perfumes with iris. Although this perfume has incense, which can be overpowering, it too is quite mild. Overall, this perfume is inoffensive and is something I could see being an everyday fragrance for someone who isn't trying to draw too much attention upon themselves.

Make up, a creamy-powdery and clean delicate purple make-up. I like it a lot, it’s elegant but it isn’t agressive, very well mannered, very french, very semi-transparent silk negligé, you doesn’t show your body but let guess it. The incense gives a cold undertone, the violet iris makes all the job. It’s a culture matter, I’m not sure it will be popular everywhere but I know it will become a jealous secret for some.

Beautiful and lady-like. Smells like a pampered lady from the 50s, even though I wasn’t alive to smell that. Powdery and makeup smelling, clean. At first I thought it smells too perfume-y but now that it’s settled, it’s beautiful. It has similar undertones to emporio for women but top and mid notes aren’t similar. It doesn’t give a cloud of beauty around me, rather nobody will know I’m wearing it.

I received the towelette and immediately bought a FB from France. So beautiful and my husband said it was really nice. Fragonard is the quintessential French perfume house to my nose. Old school done right. Long lasting too. I can see someone wearing this lovely perfume on their wedding day. Thanks to AveParfum’s review, I now have this in my collection.

Agree that it's not really violet forward so to me not like Infusion Iris Prada either. It's sweeter, more powdery, more fresh, and there's an herbal / juiciness to it. Not getting incense but let's see the drydown. I enjoy this, it's a nice iris fruity powdery fresh one. Does not last at all :/

This,with belle d’amour, are my favs from this range. Belle de paris is an iris heaven ,it’s clean ,transparent ,beautiful and classy. Very easy to wear and to layer with many scent .love it and have restocked it many times ♥️

This is a beautiful and soft iris perfume. Thank goodness there is none of that buttery iris, which sometimes feels like too much to my nose. This is soft, powdery and elegant iris. Not very long lasting but very beautiful 💜

Soft powdery violet and iris fragrance, I think it's stunning and totally worth it for for the price (40£ for 100ml in the UK). It's not the strongest but longevity is decent.

This is Dior homme intense with a zest of freshness and a muskier dry down, plus a beter sillage and longevity.
