Coeur de Soleil

A wonderful, floral fruity/oriental fragrance, somewhat overshadowed by the previous two Soleil perfumes. This perfume does not have much relation with its more opulent predecessors ( I find them to be too much) in an olfactory sense but there lies Coeur de Soleil's charm: it is the tempting, gentle and generous early summer sun in the collection. As with any Fragonard fragrance, even when they do fruity and light-hearted fragrances, the sense of quality and consistence is there, it is made with measure, has a development and has a life of its own. Coeur de Soleil is very fruity to the point of being delicious, with surprisingly spicy green notes, a bit peppery in the opening. The cassis note blends nicely with bergamot, an almost photorealistic fresia, silky high-pitched jasmine and crystalline rose, as amber steps in. The result is a fresh, yet memorable little number, savory and tempting. I was completely sold on it on first sniff and got a full bottle on the spot. For me it evokes a sunset observed from a high place that turns into a midnight walk, a time when the air is warm and laden with the enchanting aroma of lindens in bloom, and hours melt away in endless conversations. The bottle and especially the cap do not do justice to the perfume. If I have to compare the fragrance, I would say it is in the vein of the classic Burberry in the oval bottle, maybe also Amor Amor.

I am enjoying this one! It’s very bright and fruity, definitely lifts your mood. Reminds me a bit of Yulali from Swiss Arabian due to the fruit and freesia mix, but is less sweet than Yulali. If you added some balsam to this, you’d get Layali from SA. It would layer nicely with either of them added as a hair perfume. Longevity isn’t great, but is pretty standard Fragonard (will last longer on clothes than skin, can reapply every couple hours if you want it to be more noticeable). Edit: I have to second what others mention here about the bottle and cap being pretty tacky. I wish they’d gone with their simpler, more elegant bottles for this one.

There isn't much to dislike about the fragrance, it's a very soft subtle blend, it's quite hard to break the notes down. I get some florals, I would have thought tuberose, but it could well be freesia, some sweet fruity notes, berries, and a slightly Woody base. Projection was low, sillage moderate. The bottle is ok, the lid looks and feels cheap. It's a decent fragrance, from this house, you just expect a bit more quality. It's nice.

Respectfully to the last post I have to disagree. It's not hard to dislike. After sampling the new and from memory, slightly butchered (certainly the bottle has been) version of Grain de Soleil this stuff immediately struck me as something with a bright, light opening. The blackcurrant, cassis note is sharp and smells pretty much like the cassis base used in many perfumes and often paired with rose. Here this smells like something that should be scenting a home in a reed diffuser or being sprayed from a budget aerosol can. I hate to be so reductive about a prestigious Grasse institution like Fragonard because I generally like everything I've ever tried but this didn't grab me. Does have a base and an interesting transition in the base, completely changing into a more recognisable and woody sort of perfume. (rather than air freshener) I don't want to hate on it because I found it weirdly impressive but not wearable for me.

I purchased this perfume in Marseille and I cannot help but link it to it in my olfactory memories. The first thing you see from the sea is the large MARSEILLE sign, which is very reminiscent of the one on the Hollywood hill shining with flashes of bergamot in Coeur de soleil, the fresh and harsh wind that blows on the sea; the suspension bridge over the water that connects the museum to Fort Saint Jean, the imposing fortress built in the 17th century by King Louis XIV reflects mandarin and blackcurrant on a vibrant heart of freesia for green, fruity, radiant atmospheres; rose and jasmine absolute at the Musée des Beaux Arts, the oldest in the city housed in Palaia Longchamp, supported by a base of amber and cedar for the confident and decisive finale with Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo. Moderate longevity and sillage for a star yet to be appreciated

Citrus sweet soap... Too much sweet roses mingles with soap which makes it cloying. No.
