Daïma

I have been on an Almond jag this year, and up to now have not found a perfume that satisfies. The closest I have come is L'Occitane's bath line, but I would not want a perfume which was as sweet. I don't much like gourmands. The closest I come to wearing one is Hermes Merveilles. I returned a bottle of Lancome (special edition) Jasmine Marzipan, and have the Prada, which is like a weak body spray (though it's a dabber). I am, however, a pretty big fan of Fragonard. I picked up a little travel set of their naturals and, impressed with the quality, bought a bottle of Billet Doux, which is one of my favorites perfumes, ever. I have since acquired near everything they make, to include OOP perfumes (I have 3 sets of tiny bottles). There are few which I have not liked, and my husband has happily adopted those. When I read about Daima it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. At the time it was hard to find and I probably paid too much for my first bottle. At this point I probably have too much perfume (yes, really). I remember trying it and sticking it in my cabinet with my Fragonard library. I didn't think about it again until I saw it on sale for half price at a favorite little boutique. I pulled it out, sprayed it, and thought... why haven't I been wearing this? I have since worn it almost daily, and did buy a second bottle as a back-up. It is not like anything else in my collection, with Heresssence Reglisse being the closest. I find it to be a very soothing scent, nothing at all like root beer barrels, which would make me kind of ill. The almond and anice work very well together. It is warm and soothing with a little spice. The anice is not in the background, just not as imposing a presence as clove or cinnamon. I did not notice the manderin until I saw it in the description, and then did notice it a bit, as a fleeting top note. There is some floral I can not place at the heart. It is a pretty linear fragrance. It has moderate silage (not a skin scent) and decent longevity, lasting several hours even in extremely hot and humid weather. It is something I reach for a lot, wear frequently around the house and often when I am going to sleep (I have 2 large bottles, I can do that ;)

This is gorgeous - I would have it for a signature scent if it was a bit stronger and lasted longer - I LOVE the anise in this - gives it a little spice, and draws it away from the typical almond/powdery combo. It reminds me of the more demure, younger sister of Rouge Smoking from BDK - wish it was available to buy in places other than France

Absolute perfection. Complex, nuanced, and every note is heaven. An edible hint with the gourmand quality, and I find myself smelling my wrist throughout the day. Could not love a perfume more. So sad that this is discontinued! I am still searching for a fragrance that brings the same joy.

I totally agree with krukmary that Daima is a very good dupe for AdP's Mandorlo de Sicilia...from opening notes to the drydown. It's absolutely fabulous! And it also has the added bonus of being cruelty free. Rating: 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒 Cruelty free 🐾

Just phenomenal. Fizzy almond, soft yet effervescent, inviting, inoffensive, delicious. EDP performs much better than EDT.

Airy root beer and vanilla, refreshing for a gourmand - it never weighs you down. Adore it, sad it's been discontinued.

I fully agree with the 'root beer" reference above. The very first time I put this fragrance on all I could smell was root beer until the top notes settled down. I didn't dislike the smell but definitely smelled like root beer float at first. I'm guessing this is due to the anise and almond mixed with some of the brighter elements. typically root beer has quite a few spices/herbs/barks in it such as cinnamon, anise, burdock, juniper, clove, licorice, ginger, vanilla, wintergreen/birch bark, sassafras... I also get some of the powdery after it sits on my skin for a while. I would put this in the positively interesting category for me. I particularly like it when I spray it over the back of my neck under my hair with some of it getting in my hair. This gives me nice little light waves of it throughout the day.

I was so happy to have the chance to visit Fragonard Boutique in Milano! I stood there for 20-30 minutes, tried everything I could, and finally decided to buy Daima edt 100 ml. It doesn't seem like a unisex fragrance to me, but I can say that it is a winter or summer scent exclusively. It just doesn't "bloom" during fall or spring. It smells almost exactly the same as Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandorlo di Sicilia - sweet, creamy gourmand, with leading almond and vanilla. Projection is good, longevity average, but it works like a cozy blanket on your skin - not too warm, not too cold, but just right :)

It smells like Mandorlo di Sicilia but not as strong and more natural smelling. I used to love it but then it became too strong/too sweet for me and I sold it on ebay.

Visited the Fragonard House in Grasse this summer. Was not familiar with them beforehand. Soooooo many choices. I don't know of a place to buy Fragonard back in the US near my home, so I was perplexed with how I would test and try Fragonard without buying bottles blind. Well, I found they sell these miniature bottles in a sample coffret. This was among the offerings. The almond is the note that stands out most to me from start to finish. For me the fragrance is soft, elegant and sophisticated. It is such a calming fragrance that I COULD wear it to sleep, but I don't. There is another note in the fragrance, the spiciness, that is not something calming to me at bedtime. I would not wear this as an everyday casual fragrance. I would start with dressy casual and work my way up. It could cross over to elegant with the right body chemistry and occasion. I live in Southern California, so a VERY little bit goes a long way here in the warmer climate. It think it would do very well for those in colder climates.

I like it from the lid but on me there is too much anise. Nice soft mix of heliotrope and almond as a base and anise gives it a good zest, but if you don't like anise test it first.

I am not sure if Fragonard hasn't discontinued this perfume, because I could not find it anywhere this year, it would be very sad if they did, because this is a very lovely perfume. Soft, delicately sweet, refined, and airy gourmand scent. It was one of my first buys from Fragonard. And I actually think that the aluminum bottles they offer are very practical. As I understood they come from traditional perfumery. This perfume is light and not overpowering so it is even perfect for summer. It's cozy and romantic, light but still noticible. I wore it during one Christmas party and it was perfect - a calming and a bit festive gourmand scent. I think it is perfect for every occasion. I agree it has some resemblance to Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo - Mandorlo di Sicilia as some members suggest, but I don't mind because I like both of these perfumes. The difference to me is Mandorlo di Sicilia for me is a sweet summer perfume, while Daima I can wear even in winter. Both are lovely either way. I don't find it just a feminine perfume, if a male likes a bit sweeter scents you could definitely try it, because it's a gourmand scent and scent like this I think could be worn by anyone. Longevity and sillage is not the best I won't lie, but it is pretty nice if you don't like beast mode perfumes and want something calm I would try this for sure, it lasts about 3-4h closer to the skin.

This is absolutely impeccable. As someone who doesn't love gourmands, this is a great fragrance because it's not cloying or overtly sweet or dense. This is a sweet almond scent that's airy and reminiscent of root beer at the top, then settles down to a vanilllic violet. Longevity is moderate, not at all fleeting. Haven't worn it out so can't comment on the sillage or projection.

THIS. PERFUME. SMELL. LIKE. ROOT BEER BARRELS. At least, the top note. It must be the licorice mixed with the sweetness of the almond/heliotrope. Really not what I was expecting from an "oriental" fragrance. Definitely warm and gourmand, but not at all spicy. Once the top note dies down, it smells almost exactly like Fragonard's discontinued "Fleur de Vanille" (on me, at least).

To my nose, Daima smells almost exactly like AdP's Mandorlo de Sicilia, just slightly more balanced. The longevity is better as well. If you love that fizzy root beer/almondy anise combo of the frags in the "this perfume reminds me of" section above, you'll love Daima. Of course, I see no problem with owning them all!

Based on other reviews, I was hoping this would smell like root beer and Mandorlo di Sicilia. What I got is a disgusting powdery gardenia scent that smells like my corporate office air freshener. I’m returning this immediately.

Wow. This one lasts forever on my skin . Such a wonderful almond oriental spice. It's very nice for the colder weather
