Eau des Vacances

Eau des Vacances Fragonard is so under-acknowledged that I often fear it will be discontinued. Although it may remind some of other fragrances, it has a very unique, subtle vibe to it. The notes indicate "hay" so perhaps that makes it distinct but it is not the ginger because, although it may be there to add substance, it is NOT a ginger perfume and I would not have even know it was there without seeing the pyramid. It is a orange/bergamot scent but never bitter - to me, feminine. It is how an upscale tropical hotel lobby should smell, welcoming you to a fresh, delightful vacation (hence the name). I adore it and it is in my top 10 perfumes - although worn in later spring/summer only, in 2 seasons, my bottle is almost empty. As you may know, Fragonard's bottles are very generous (6.7 oz), and are very reasonably priced. Of course, I wish the longevity and sillage were better, but at its price point, you can spray often. Orange/citrus perfumes are a favorite so perhaps I am more sensitive to the nuances of this, but it is definitely unique if you are a regular citrus fragrance lover.

Citrus lovers, look no further! I had been wanting to try this one for soooo long and finally pulled the trigger. The opening mandarin orange note is DIVINE, eyes-roll-back-in-head, if you're someone who loves citrus notes. The mandarin morphs into a grapefruit note to my nose. LOVING IT I get some of the ginger, orange blossom and hay as time goes on. There's just a KISS of floral (rose) which is exactly enough for my taste and perfectly mixed. So fresh, sophisticated, joyful. CAN'T STOP SMELLING MY WRIST Will probably order 2 more bottles as back-ups, God forbid they discontinue this gem!! Fragonard you are my favorite perfume house! UPDATE: This has crazy good longevity on me - sprayed it on in the afternoon and could still very clearly smell it the next morning! That is simply amazing for a citrusy fragrance.

Bought this in 2015 whilst looking for a grapefruit scent, and OMG it literally smells like a subtropical summer holiday! It's like those fruity drink ads with the splashing of water and the vibrant colours of the fruit, that's basically a visual representation of what this smells like. I had it for years, especially since I was sick and didn't have the energy or opportunity to wear it out. But it kept beautifully, the scent remained stunning until the end (which was 2022). My heart lurches at the sight of this bottle, I must restock ASAP!

This is an absolutely beautiful fragrance, and it is so well blended, I consider it more than a citrus fragrance. It is a fresh and elegant experience. I can wear this all year round when I want to smell fresh and fantastic! The mandarin orange opening is to die for! This is a very underrated fragrance, and since I found this house, I have found several beauties. The formulas are natural and rich, made of Grasse flowers and herbs. I truly love this one.

I have been looking for an Aroma Tonic dupe for about 15 years, this is the closest I've found. I'm so happy. It's not very strong or long lasting, but it's so refreshing for summer and I don't mind that it's light. I'm just so happy I finally found something to replace Aroma Tonic, which has been a life long love for me since I was about 9 years old.

This was part of my Fragonard discovery set, and it is my second favorite next to Etoile. I’m surprised there’s no grapefruit notes, since that’s the most prominent to me. I love the hint of ginger/spice. I also don’t mind the longevity, because it gives me an excuse to respray!

Summer in a bottle. It smells like a fresh grapefruit to me, very citrusy. I feel energized when I wear this and love to wear it during sunny days. The dry down is lovely and leaves a bit lingering, but the initial strong citrus burst wears away.

Usually I do not like too much the scent of Mandarin, but I immediately loved Eau de Vacances Fragonard. I bought it because it has a beautiful name and a nice presentation and because it is a limited edition. As soon as it arrived I immediately bought another bottle. Yum!!!! Eau de Vacances looks a lot like Mandarine Basilic by Guerlain Aqua Allegoria. Or rather, it has the qualities of that, without having the defects. Here the cutting edge is missing, there is only freshness, softness, gentle sweetness, a delicious spiciness. Mandarin is usually a winter fruit, but here is masterfully combined, in these torrid summer days, 40 degrees in the shade! I wrap myself after a shower in a cloud of freshness soft and I feel myself happy. And tonight that the air is refreshed after a storm, yet I really love Eau de Vacance, with fresh air known more delicate spiciness of ginger and sweetness of paradise ...? Which note gives this sweetness? Again bravo Fragonard! Another Bingo! :-)

I agree with the reviewer that indicated this smells like aqua allegoria Mandarin ... It also smells like aqua allegoria lemon fresca, there is a strong resemblance to the aqua allegoria family / citrus creations specifically but at a fraction of the price...It is very clean , classy and fresh... I would be more inclined to see a man wearing this... If he does , he would be so appealing to me ... A woman can wear this to the gym, club and mornings events in the outdoor. Certainly a summer scent and also a morning one... It is as safe as it gets for fresh scent lovers that enjoy citrusy scents...

My first day trying, it seemed pretty unoriginal, but second day it started to grow on me. its a good citrus summer scent-- nice fruity mandarin and bergamot create a sort of ruby red grapefruit smell on me. I get a hint of rose and musk but nothing really "spicy" or heavy. I think it'd make a really great gift (especially as a souvenir when "en vacances" lol) because its really inoffensive- I think most people would find it perfectly wearable. I might pick it up for days I'm feeling a bit fickle about my more assertive scents lol.

Very nice little eau de toilette, with an opening made of citrus fruits (but not aggressive, very gentle) overtaken by ginger which gives a little unexpected and pleasant twist, then by a little note of orange blossom. Unpretentious but as its name suggests, perfect for the holidays. Unfortunately, the staying power seems extremely bad; After barely a minute, my arm no longer smelled anything (tested via a wet wipe).

First impression: strong green tea notes, so it must be just another flanker of Elizabeth Arden’s Green tea. But after several minutes some sweet note starts to evolve reminding apricots. In half an hour perfume transformed into fresh invigorating composition of clementine, ginger and some abstract flowers perfectly reflecting perfume’s name. Lovely. Wish it lasts longer

Really enjoyable, this one. Sparkling mandarin and bergamot fuse with ginger and orange flower along with woody, musky nuances and rose. A man smelling like this would certainly be enticing to me, and I would also wear it myself. The notes go amazingly well with each other, there is nothing I would add or take away. Delectable, refreshing. Well done.

This perfume has the right name... it is like vacation water ! Zesty, airy, natural and comforting. I really love citrus and ginger together in perfumes... but here it takes a twist with a softness. The hay note really give it a nice effect. Beautiful !!

Citrus forward musk. Fresh and refreshing.

This is fantastic, I thought it wasn’t long lasting, but it is! the initial blast of citrus and ginger is wonderful, in the dry down the citrus ginger combo gives a slight metallic tinge.

Eau des Vacances Overall: 6/10 Projection: 5/10 Longevity: 5/10 Sillage: 5/10 Comments: A nice citrus and floral perfume. I prefer the floral base notes of Eau des Vacances over the woody base notes of Eau Du Bonheur from Fragonard. If you aren't afraid of some floral notes, you should just get this one.
