Emilie Parfum

Extremely beautiful, vintage-like classic creation. Opens with powdery violet and rose, quite shy, timid, but later gains even more vintage qualities, there is lily of the valley felt, then the composition turns amber-y and incense-y. If anything vintage gives you nausea, avoid, this is very classic perfumery. Great longevity and projection. In comparison with, for example, Lipstick Rose, which also has rose and violet, this is more voluptuously floral when it dries down, less powdery, lily of the valley is quite noticeable, and it has more of that sort of incense-like quality. They take a very different route when drying down, even though might smell similar in the beginning.

I just noticed that after spraying this rushing out the house it smells very similar to Silence by Jacomo that I’ve been wearing all summer long. So I just did a little research right here on Fragrantica and guess what ? They share 8 of the same notes! I’d say Silence is indeed greener but Emilie is not a rose Rose, it’s a green powdery rose. I’m going back to Fragonard today to pick up an extra bottle because the lady told me it’s discontinued and they only have a few left. The edt a lighter do, that didn’t last on me.

Emilie is the rosiest of roses. She is velvety, slightly spicy, slightly soapy (a bit old school 90's) and slightly sweet. In the parfum version, she is rich and warm, while the EDT delivers some freshness. I have both and they are both beautiful on their own or together. I always enjoy wearing her. If you like YSL Parisienne, YSL Paris, or Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge, you may appreciate this.

Sweet violets, soapy lilly of the valley, sugar dusted rose petals and fresh tiny little jasmines. such a classic floral. I can see why some might be reminded to Guerlain Rose Cherie and YSL Paris. the sweet (but not overly candied) rose-violet combo! For me, this is less powdery more soapy slightly sugar dusted florals. Femine, classic and nostalgic.

Émilie feels like swimming in honey. It is a unique scent that radiates intelligence and elegance in a quiet way. It is a lover's perfume, one of who will live in the back of people's mind forever.

I was gifted a 50ml bottle by a dear friend and brought it with me on a 8-day trip to Prague. It was the beginning of July. The first few days were burningly hot with hardly any AC indoors (at least, not comparable to the strength with which people in North America are familiar). Then it rained and the temperature dropped dramatically. I was wearing this fragrance everyday during the trip and have developed some thoughts about it. The drydown is much more pleasant but overall I would not want to wear this fragrance in the heat. This fragrance is opulent. The sweet rose-violet notes in the first hour or so felt very out of place as I sweated through my cotton t-shirt, like wearing a ball gown to the grocery store or the gym. I feel that one should not be in a situation where sweating is a possibility when wearing this fragrance. It ought to be a temperature and humidity controlled environment with beautiful people and beautiful things. No one's in any hurry to get to anywhere or do anything. This fragrance was also somewhat out of place as the temperature cooled, since it was not warm enough to battle the chilly rain or cool enough to fit in. I feel these flowers must have been grown in the warmth of the south and would wilt and droop if hit by the coldness of the north. One ought to be somewhere where the climate is mild and pleasant, and the seasons gently blend together. Otherwise this fragrance is more suited to a dinner in an upscale restaurant where someone will pull the chair out for you and the car will wait right at the door step so that one won't have to walk for more than 10m in pretty high heels. This is a very pretty, lady-like fragrance that is somewhat high maintenance for the wearer. I don't think I can pull it off in my mundane everyday life and must be selective about the occasion to wear it. I think it is very Rococo. [Jul 26 2025 edit] Wearing this fragrance again in a heat wave, I think there is some freshness to this fragrance though not so fresh as comparable to those citrus freshie fragrances. I find that it is best suited to the warmer months when the temperature is not too brutally hot. Perhaps in the spring and early summer, and if in the hottest days of summer, evenings after sunset. Overall, quite lovely and delicate. I think there are ladies (and guys) who will be able to pull this off in many more environments and scenarios. In fact, my mom will probably be able to wear this fragrance year-round and I can imagine this being her signature fragrance. She is petite and moderately curvy. Her best colours are rose pink and sage green, and has bright silvery grey hair.

Émilie Parfum is a classic beauty: velvety and soft, powdery and slightly soapy floral. On me, the violet, non-indolic clean jasmine and lily of the valley are most present. I'm a huge rose fan, but I'm not reading rose strongly on this composition. The amber, musk and sandalwood serve as a well-blended anchor. This is sophisticated in an understated way, perfect for the office and anytime, any season. Like all Fragonard scents, there's an inherent freshness to it; real floral essences were used and the high quality is apparent. This is a more natural French beauty in the style of fine milled soap, fresh cut flowers, warm sun and soft breezes. Émilie is an introvert who reads books and walks in parks, sips tea and loves life. She could be the most beautiful woman in the room, but she doesn't scream it. As of Nov, 2023, Fragonard has discontinued Émilie and is currently selling off remaining inventory.

Emilie is a classic powdery floral; an initial sharp (almost overwhelming) early summer bouquet dominated by jasmine and abley accompanied by lily and violet. I detect little to no rose on here, maybe a nod in the dry down? Similarly, there are no top notes of citrus at all. But that lovely strong “warm wood” fragrance that I associate with sandlewood is prominent in all layers; and in the dying embers I pick up amber. In all, its a very pretty scent in the ballpark of a Yardley or a Coty, that would suit a much more mature woman. Although sadly now no longer in circulation, there is a familiarity about the scent that I think means a similar replacement would not be hard to find.
