Héliotrope Gingembre

Wow, this is really different and impressive! If you don't want to smell like anyone else, yet utterly feminine and delicious, this is your ticket. Wraps you up in a cozy cloud like a cashmere sweater. I'm trying this in summer and love it, but in fall/winter I bet I'll love it even more, because I get a "cinnamon apple cobbler" vibe. However, the powdery element keeps it from being a "sweet" or gourmand fragrance. If you like certain elements of Shalimar but find it overall too heavy/incensey, this is a good alternative. Longevity is excellent - lasts on me for a good 8 hours without even trying to smell it. I sprayed on in the morning and could still smell it a little bit on my wrist the next morning! I'm soooo impressed. Fragonard you have triumphed again!

Almond flour cookies with a little vanilla extract, dusted with powdered sugar and just a hint of freshly grated ginger. This is not hot and spicy, not like gingerbread or holiday cakes with cinnamon, but it is mouth wateringly delicious too. Fragonard never ceases to amaze me. Very similar to Guerlain's L'Instant Magique. I'm referring to the original Magique, not the new version, which I haven't smelled), but it is somehow more simple and not quite as sweet/gourmand. But yes, it does smell like almond cookies and powder. For the price, once again, Fragonard is hugely impressive!

This is a perfect fall/winter scent, if you want something that interprets sweet Christmas spices without turning you into a gingerbread man. It’s soft with intimate projection, a nice fragrance to smell up close like in a hug. It opens with a little ginger, that quickly subdues and let forward a sweet, powdery heliotrope sprinkled with cinnamon. It’s a little spicy, but it’s not gourmand at all. Definitely one of my favorites from Fragonard. Disclaimer: This is a review of the perfume version, the one in the gold aluminum bottle. I have yet to try the EdP in the glass bottle.

I love this line, and this perfume is no exception. It's a pure heliotrope powder-bomb on me with a slight ginger opening, which fades very quickly. All I get is heliotrope and vanilla, maybe almond and tonka as well. I do not know if it's just my skin, but it's only quality floral powder on me without any artificial undertones and the best kind possible. This is exactly what I love about Fragonard - nothing synthetic or fake at any stage during the wear of each scent. Longevity is great and I love the packaging. Niche perfumery at its best.

This was a blind buy, and I was quite nervous as I’m not the biggest fan of ginger. But I love heliotrope and this fragrance turned out to be a wonderful surprise! It’s a creamy, gentle ginger, not sharp at all, and after the initial burst of spice the perfume settles into the most beautiful, smooth vanilla and caramel heliotrope scent. It’s warm without being overpowering, and very easy to wear, perfect all year round. The bottle and box it comes in are works of art themselves. I’m delighted with my gorgeous new discovery.

I bought this in 2019 on a trip to Paris from the flagship store near Opera Garnier, together with one of my favorites, Grain de Soleil. The performance improved considerably since then. The proof was today, I applied 3 sprays 8 hours ago and it's still there. Fresh, spicy, floral and juicy, all in a wonderful combination. (I so wish there would be a "report" button. People who leave gross comments should be banned and their comments removed. @nepenthe2006 is an example. "Sweet farts"??).

This is another successful blind buy for me from the wonderful house of Fragonard. Heliotrope with a little ginger, this is so lovely. Sillage and longevity could be better, but I am still very happy with my purchase. Powdery, spicy and soft, this is my kind of perfume. I am new to the Fragonard perfumes but if the two that I have already own are anything to go by , then I am in for some wonderful perfumes, and happy days smelling new perfumes. Happy days to come.

A lovely blend of heliotrope sweetness, delicious, fresh ginger and the slightest spiciness! It doesn't have strong sillage or longevity but I kept smelling my wrist because of the alluring smell. I received samples of Fragonard's new garden scent line without having ordered any. I have only ordered from them once before and am really impressed with their customer service at this point. @Deppaholic: You can order directly from their website.

This perfume was what made me realise that I Iove the scent of heliotrope. I bought this at the Fragonard perfume factory in Grasse after sampling the entire collection. I can detect the sweetness from the caramel, and a very slight kick from the cinnamon and ginger, but nothing too powerful. Overall, it feels creamy and powdery despite those two spicy ingredients. Nothing I have in my humble perfume collection is similar to this.

I was a bit concerned that the ginger maybe overpowering but thankfully it is not at all. The heliotrope dominates. I love heliotrope so I'm not complaining. Its a not too sweet slightly spiced cherry pie. I cant imagine anyone not liking this fragrance. Perhaps a comforting scent, perfect for chill out days and perhaps autumn and winter months in particular. A totally feminine fragrance with moderate sillage and 4-5hr longevity.

This is so underrated! To me, it smells like the smoothest almond marzipan, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. The heliotrope makes it so soft and smooth and the vanilla in it is so elegant and beautiful. It is a soft wearable gourmand without being too much or too edible. I would highly recommend this if you love almond forward fragrances! 🤍 P.s I personally get no ginger to my nose, maybe the tiniest hint ever, but it is not visible.

This one's lovely. Subtle winter florals. Not for those wishing to leave a trail. This is more for those whose fragrance is for indulging themselves. The gourmand notes are present, but do not dominate. The spices also are in the background. It all combines beautifully to provide a just-there creaminess over which the florals float effortlessly.

I bought this fragrance as a set (EDP and soap) from a Fragonard shop in Paris, together with Grain de Soleil, from the same house. Although it doesn't have the longevity of Grain de Soleil, it still perfoms quite well on my skin. I recommend it for warmer (not hot) weather. Feminine, sweet, gourmand, lovely for both day and night.

I got a gold bottle of this while traveling in Nice, France. This is a delicious powdery vanilla but not overwhelming. I tried it on my pillow first and after a couple of months I can say that I love it! I feel that this fragrance is perfect all year round. My friend didn't want to runout so she purchase 3 bottles for herself.

A new favorite of mine. I love it. I have sampled several in Fragonards garden series, and this one stands out. It is unique, but very versatile. Heliotrope is the headliner, but my uneducated nose can`t detect the ginger... I do however get a wiff of vanilla, which is not listed... Well anyway. Good buy!

It was love at first smell for me! It feels so conforting wearing it! My boyfriend also wears it sometimes and it's very nice on men too. I'm sad it doesn't project or last much, but for the price in France, it is more than ok!

Lovely bottle, almondy via the heliotrope, smells rather like expensive biscuits (in a good way). Very reasonably priced too. A nice little treat.

Smells like Christmas to me. And I do feel like having Christmas from time to time. Very winter/fall oriented fragrance. I like it.

I LOVE THIS! An almost almond-like heliotrope base with spicy ginger on top. It is sweet and very beautiful.

Subtle and powdery. More spicy than gingery and the heliotrope adds the floral scent.

I really like this one and it's on my list of purchases. The last time I wanted to buy it I unfortunately chose Romance D'Iris by Zara because M&S ran out of Heliotrope Gingembre and now I regret it. This one is a cozy and really natural, warm scent, while still floral at the same time. I think it's perfect for wearing in winter time, you just want to wrap yourself in it, however, the longevity isn't great for an EDP. I checked the reviews and after noticing someone mentioned "perfume", checked the Fragonard's website. Never heard they also make perfume (not EDP). Unfortunately, M&S don't distribute it, but the product can be ordered from the original producer - I believe, it should have a better longevity due to concentration but might also result in a different smell.

I love this scent so much, a beautiful heliotrope, smelling just picked with morning dew still lingering on its tiny petals in the opening notes. The fresh ginger comes in also very fresh and almost wet smelling, It mixes beautifully with the floral and in the middle notes I get a note of pure almond. Not sure where this comes from but it is gorgeous. The spice comes out more in the drydown to balance the sweetness of the florals and ginger. This is an unusual and well balanced scent. I cannnot think of any other perfume quite like it. It smells like a niche scent but is much cheaper, thankfully. Fragonard quality is amazing. I will defintely be trying more of these latest releases and I know another bottle of this little beauty is in my future as well.

I bought this fragrance on holiday in France during the summer, it was one of those impulsive purchases made by a fatigued nose after a day of nothing but smelling perfumes. I was convinced when I got back home that I had made a terrible mistake as it's definitley not warm weather appropriate, but now that it's winter, I can't seem to stop craving this scent. The bright, spicy opening of bergamot, ginger and cinammon followed by that addictive powdery vanilla has cemented this in my daily winter perfume rotation and I don't see it leaving anytime soon.

Nice, comfortable and well blended scent, would be great for winter holidays. Mild orange evolves to the smell of apple cobbler dessert held together by vanilla, caramel,and Tonka bean for luscious support. The arrival of rose and heliotrope blend seamlessly from the first hour. It's nicely blended, each scent has it's role, and plays well with others. No fireworks here, but a comfortable and wearable scent --no OOHs and AAHs, but nothing here to offend. My sample was a few years old, and the formula rather weak.

The EDP is a delicious perfume for autumn/winter. Lovely mix of floral and ginger biscuits that doesn't fall too sweet. A bit of red berries scent on the blotter after a while but not on my skin. Warm, tasty, yet still elegant and approachable enough for the office. Brings to mind a pre-christmas mulled wine and gingerbread evening. This is a cosy gingerbread smell interpreted in an adult lady-like scent, rather than a sweet shower gel/scented candle gingerbread. I'd like a bottle for the pre-xmas season.

Definite ginger, but quite soft like ginger essential oil, not fresh ginger which is hot and spiky. Vanilla and almond in the background further smooth this out. Vaguely gourmand but floral. As it dries down, there is an almost oily/fatty unctuous note, similar to one of the notes in various Van Cleef & Arpels perfumes like Orchidee Vanille or Gardenia Petale, which I really like. Sillage is good but quite delicate, not overpowering. This one really needs to be oversprayed.

To answer Kew's qyestion, it doesn t have anything to do with Grain de Soleil. it is all about Heliotrope with a slight gingery opening. This is a very soft fragrance with quite a poor longevity whereas Grain de Soleil is strong and powerful. I do not get any spices in Heliotrope Gingembre. However this is a very lovely fragrance and I would love to have it in my wardrobe. This is the kind of fragrance I like wearing when I am bored with my favorites. Just calming.

This is unusual. I wear it in hot weather as the helio is stronger in warm temps, there is definitely a gingery aspect which bites more (not that this ginger really bites), in cooler weather. I prefer the soap which is delicious, gentle and a really excellent creamy/powdery almondy treat, kind to hands. I won't replace my bottle because I prefer Piver's Heliotrope Blanc, I can do without the bit of spice, but this soap is a regular buy xx

This is a lovely summertime fragrance for me, which I found interesting because I thought this should be winter fragrance with heliotrope, ginger, vanilla and other spices. In summer if you wear this on your warm skin it is not-common and interesting, sweet, well balanced summery scent while in winter white floral becomes dominating and it's kind of nauseating. It smells more rich in summertime. I agree on @Kaleidosaur

Lovely heliotrope on the gourmand side. With just right amount of ginger for a zing. Combination of orange and caramel is mouthwatering and I don't even like gourmands! It's adorable, cuddly and gone in 2 h. It's different and if you're looking for something tasteful in this style, it might be worth a blind buy gamble as many had better luck with longevity.

This is a soft, creamy, gentle scent with almond-like heliotrope and delicately spiced ginger that’s sweetened by the vanilla and caramel base. It sits close to the skin and doesn’t project much. It’s easy to like and a fairly safe blind buy if you can’t get a sample. I believe there’s a parfum version of this which I’d be super curious to try.

I loved the bottle. So I bought it on holiday in france. I only wore it in winter tho. I got 2 compliments and someone said I smelled like incense. My mom absolutely hated it. But I did quite enjoy it. Projection and sillage are very good. After a while it smelled a bit like sweet farts. Just got tired of it I guess.

A very almondy heliotrope. Super pretty, I think it will be glorious for the summertime. Very well balanced, like all Fragonard perfumes I've tried. I was hoping the ginger and vanilla would break through a bit more, though.

This is beautiful! Powdery sweet heliotrope, and I'm sure I smell a touch of rose in it. Usually I can't stand ginger in perfume, but it's not strong or sharp here at all. Reminds me of Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste a bit :)

Very much depends on your chemistry! I bought it as a christmas fall/winter scent but I was so wrong - as soon as I sprayed it all i got was cream. Nice, creamy scent with slightly almondy note, but for me, Dove cream is the same. Doesn’t mean it is not nice, it is, but with my chemistry it just doesn’t deliver at all. I am unfortunately disappointed and for me I would say it is more a summer scent.

A perfectly fine fragrance. I think for some reason there’s freshness to it while it’s ginger, flowers and cinnamon. I think that aquatic part that I perceive somehow throws me off. I might have to spray a few more times to come to a conclusion. For now, it’s not my preferred scent profile.

Right. I am a big fan of heliotrope. And I sometimes like ginger, like in Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge, where it is fresh. To my nose, these two notes do not combine well. Heliotrope has this natural powderiness about it, a veiled quality, a certain mystery whereas ginger is aromatic, pungent and direct - they are working in opposite directions. Granted, the result is interesting and quite unusual but not harmonious to my nose. I absolutely love the outside packaging, its a very pretty box that hosts the bottle so the presentation is adorable. But please, do not ruin my heliotrope by adding half a kilo of freshly ground ginger. Ginger has its place, just not here. Perfume aficionados, worth smelling for educational purposes.

Oh. Unlike almost everyone else here, I am not too impressed with this. It's very light, almost transparent. The ginger is faint. I can make out something vaguely resembling heliotrope, but mostly on me it's a sweet and rather artificial weak floral. I also have the cardamom one in this series and am similarly unthrilled by that. It's a real shame because the premise is great - heliotrope and ginger, wow! And the packaging is adorable. But the actual scent? Not so much.

not as gingery as I hoped when I looked at ranking of notes! where is the ginger? can't smell it at all. Ginger would have added a nice lift to this! To me this smells like a scented eraser that's been soaked in vanilla, caramel, heliotrope and something slightly sour-ish (either apple or orange). Dusty-rubbery gourmand if you will. Those looking for ginger, I don't recommend this.

Older lady soapy smell. Dissapoitment

I did get my hands on this. Thanks to the French shopper. Now, I received it in the dead of summer, humidity and heat and more soupy than ever, oh did I say humidity. Anyways, I knew I had to try it in winter. The ginger is what makes this a cold weather fragrance. I love love love heliotrope, anything with heliotrope, powder, almond, sometimes some sweetness I adore. So that name drew me in. Well, I tried this today, first real dip in temperatures in the northeast, and WOW is all I can say. Does this ever work in the cold weather! It's a small bottle, and it's for winter, so between this and Bond New Haarlem and a few of the Guerlain Elixir's which are anytime, this most likely will be worn this winter, but not for social events, only just running around and nothing special. I really like it, but doubt I would purchase again. I might though, but it's a winter fragrance all the way. Everyday, no boyfriend material here. No alluring anyone, just as the one reviewer said, something to put on when in between or bored that day. It doesn't last long either, few hours maybe. However, others may still smell you. Not real strong either. Nice, but nothing to write home about.

The more often I wear Héliotrope Gingembre, the more he conquers me. Héliotrope Gingembre is a very feminine scent, creamy and powdery, it feels like velor or velvet, it is warm, enveloping, moderately sweet, a little bit sharp. I feel comfortable in it, calmly, yes, just fine. For me, Héliotrope Gingembre is a heliotropic-caramel-cherry syrup / impregnation for delicious cakes, mixed with freshly grated ginger, a small pinch of cinnamon and with a few grains of vanilla pod. In Héliotrope Gingembre, I really like the subtle play "sweetness-sharpness": the gorgeous ginger is thin, cool, with a caustic trickle, "flows" through all the gourmet sound of perfume. The fragrance is not loud, but obvious, living on the skin for four to five hours, giving all this time a feeling of pleasant relaxation, bliss, and slowness of being, for which I love him dearly.

Heliotrope is my favorite flower and ingredient in perfume. This is a heliotrope that has been sugar coated with sweeter gourmand scents of ginger caramel and vanilla. Sometimes it smells of caramel apple. It's not what I'm used to in fragrances but the heliotrope does stand out and it's pleasant, sweet and playful, something to wear when I want to go out with the girls and not have to worry about what my date thinks of my fragrance. This is girly and innocent, not complex and very feminine. I'm loving my new found taste in vanilla and gourmand notes but I'm taking it one fragrance at a time.

This is a very light subtle fragrance with a hint of spice it didn’t last on me very long it’s February in Scotland and very cold so I may need to review it again in spring it smells lovely though.I can smell the cinnamon and ginger but it’s very soft the florals from the rose and heliotrope are well blended it’s also creamy with the vanilla I can’t make out the fruits but they make it fresh smelling.This perfume lasted 2 hrs on my skin but I could smell it on my clothes 4 hrs later faintly

A rather delicious scent. Watch out for that initial blast. This stuff starts out strong. Heady, lovely heliotrope with a touch of ginger and a some fresh notes way in the background. Full DD, close to the skin but breathe some warm air onto the skin and the sweet treat reveals itself. Fragonard is a very old and revered company and, unlike Creed, their fragrances are priced affordably for all. Enjoy✨

Damn, this is pretty! Heliotrope Gingembre is unique, oriental perfume which combines spices, sweetness and floral notes. To me it reminds of chai latte and autumn afternoon. I can smell cinnamon, cardamom an ginger. Heliotrope provides plenty of coziness, tonka beans give the smell a lot of nice maturity, give it a Guerlain vibe. This is an amazing niche perfume.

Love the soft ginger aspect to this and I already love heliotrope (Etro). I have the gold canister 30 ml parfum and ordered a bigger canister because it’s so special. This perfume in its dry down reminds me of the dark old-fashioned gingersnaps used to make a delicious slightly sweet German sauerbraten by Alton Brown. Just ordered the Fragonard perfumed soap!

When I wear this fragrance I feel like a woman who is well put together and dressed well walking in a metropolitan area who after a long work day comes home and gives a cozy warm hug to her family. To me this fragrance smells luxurious but also powdery, warm, soft and approachable. It's one of my favourites to wear on occasion. I find 1-2 sprays plenty.

Smells beautiful!! But can’t be smelled after an hour. Surely if it were any other product, you’d get a refund. Imagine buying windows for your house or car that you can’t see through after an hour because they clouded up and can’t be cleaned, repaired, or otherwise restored. Just like such windows, this perfume is simply not fit for purpose.

Notes listed on the sample I received from Fragonard: Head:bergamote, orange Heart:rose, cinnamon, ginger, apple, Bottom:heliotrop, vanila, tonka bean, toffee The scent is really beautiful. Soft, sweet. I was afraid it would be sharp because of the ginger but it is so well blended with the caramel note. Such a fine, delicate fragrance.
