Lilas

Purple floral symphony. Imagine a garden in May or early June, mornings are still quite fresh and lilac is in its most majestic bloom. Linden flowers are just starting to open with that enchanting yellow and green honey powder. Gorgeous stuff... In the corner there is a hawthorne bush buzzing with bees. It's too late in season for violettes, but you smell them anyway and even that rich, pungent smell of wet soil. Precoceous heliotrope enjoys the sunniest spot of the garden. As you go about your day, pillowy honey vanilla memory of heliotrope follows you. While En Passant is wet, dewy lilac, this one is more earthy and powdery. Why, yes, I just compared it with Olivia Giacobetti's mastarpiece. It stands on its own. It has more caracter and it's more natural and fresh than Lilac Love, for exemple. I do enjoy when underappreciated flowers in perfumery are brought to light this gracefully. So, yes, I'm getting myself a bottle. It has so much more presence and body than previous flowers of the year, therefore better longevity and sillage. This lilac is more gouache than aquarelle. And no, it doesn't remind of perfumed toilet paper, not one bit. Early March...so, I got myself 'Chambre d'Amis' room spray, I'm in purple flower phase. And it's absolutely gorgeous! Officialy, it's black locust, orange blossom, violet, jasmine and lily on the bed of cedar, sandalwood and inevitable musk. Well, I smell lilac and mimosa too. I love it so much that I sprayed it on my skin. Stupid, I know, but so far, so good. Can't believe I did that! OK, next time, I'll do it on clothes... It's very close to this Lilas, I believe it inspired it. Like aquarelle version.

These days, fragrances hardly ever impress me that much. Lilas is an exception. This is EDT so obviously doesn't live on your skin whole day. And it is its only negative aspect. Besides that, what a gorgeous, authentic lilac scent... The other notes are just a subtle background to lilac and I can hardly distinguish them from the composition. They may be just a 'technical' addition - to overcome challenges with extracting lilac essence as it is. It works just perfectly. If you're afraid lilac scent is amalgamated and lost between some other notes listed above - don't be. I cannot detect cloves, black currant or lemon at all. And definitely not vanilla, even in the drydown. It probably sits there, but calmly in the base. As for the other florals, I get linden and perhaps just a bit of heliotrope but they do not stand out in any way. This is not soapy, powdery, almondy or generally 'cologne' - as A Drop d'Issey by Issey Miyake is on me after a while, which I hate. I haven't smelled En Passant nor Lilac Love to compare. I wouldn't agree it's more EDP and complex. To some extent yes - because all the other notes make it technically very well crafted and elaborated behind the scene - but the general impression of the final result is a fresh and one-directional EDT thing, in the best possible way. It's a fresh, slightly dewy bouquet of lilacs - just that but made on a masterpiece level. Being focused on lilac, this thing knows exactly what it is and it does the job perfectly. A true ode to the flower of the year.

I won this from the editor contest here at Fragrantica. It is really an excellent dupe for my bottle of Ose. The heliotrope in both of those fragrances is very strong and gives the impression that there are cherry blossoms right next to the lilac bushes. The touch of cloves works wonders here because flowers are spicy. Lilas has a touch of linden blossom that Ose lacks so this is less sweet than Ose but they are very very similar. The dry down on Lilas is more musky overall as well. The bottle is darling and so is the box. I can see why people would collect these soliflores from Fragonard. I have their Violette. I may want more in the future. Charming, graceful, delightful. Easy spring dumb reach. Thank you Fragrantica for this lovely gift!

Lilas is indescribably beautiful! I’d read so many reviews here saying it's a photorealistic lilac, that I just bought it blind. I did have realistic expectations, though; at $37 for 50ml, how great could it be? The answer is, VERY. A gorgeous scent with moderate longevity, if you love lilacs you won't be able to stop sniffing your wrist. Plus the Fragonard website was user friendly... and also just plain friendly since having spent $105, I could choose 3 samples AND a free gift of a really nice 100% cotton table runner and 6 cotton napkins, in the pattern of another of their fragrances. (Also purchased Tilleul Cedrat - review to come.) It was a great online experience and I recommend this company - and this fragrance - without hesitation.

Insanely lovely and realistic lilac scent. Not just the pretty flowers, with their unique scent that blends creamy and sharp, but the crisp greenness of cut stems too. Wear a spritz on each elbow to bed after an evening shower, with fresh-washed sheets and the window open on a balmy night, and you’ll be in heaven. The bottle is gorgeous and it (and really any of the Fragonard flowers of the year line) makes a really lovely and simple gift, just saying. One for me, one for mothers day, and I kept the free gifts with purchase.

Sweet lord is this delightful. I bought this at the same time as I was buying the drop d'issey range due to both coming off the shelves soon, and I can safely say Lilas is the best of the lilacs in the pile. This scent encaptures the lilac so beautifully and effortlessly, that I'm almost scared to open my bottle of it to start the time when it will be gone. Please make a lilac scent for you brand Fragonard, I'm begging you. edit: fell asleep wearing this this afternoon , so it's clearly very soothing haha.

I can't believe it's been hiding from me for such a long time. My friend found this perfumery and recommended Lilas to me since I've been a huge fan of lilacs for all my life. This is spring in the bottle. This fragrance is insane. I've no idea how they could capture 1:1 scent of lilacs. It smells like freshly cut bouquet of lilacs. Longevity isn't nuclear but I don't mind since it's only EDT. I can't get enough of this scent. Beautiful.

Absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful realistic lilac flowers! The presence of heliotrope, vanilla and musc makes it similar to Lilac Love by Amouage, in my opinion, but this is definitely a lighter and less sweet version of Lilac Love. Honestly, at this price and with this amazing quality, this little perfume is unbeatable. And I love almost everything Aurelien Guichard has done so far.

This might be the first fragrance on here that I can honestly, with hand on heart, declare total love for, without hesitation. It's just gorgeous. I really liked Drop d'Issey, but this includes the fresh lilac with a bit more depth and complexity, and the perfume lasts longer. Yes yes yes yes YES!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this, and am excited to have found it.

Quite realistic lilac, very light and fresh smell. Sillage and longevity are decent. Black currant and citrus add a bit of sharpness that I do not enjoy personally but it dissipates quite fast. The fragrance is quite flat but I appreciate it focuses on highlighting lilac, without trying to overcomplicate it. Great for layering on other perfume.

This is it, the realistic lilac fragrance I've been craving. It does not last unfortunately but it's cheap, can be found in M&S and tbh I don't mind reapplying it, gives me an instant mood lift, it may be because I grew up with the smell of lilac bushes my nana had in her flower garden and since she been gone it makes me think of her.

This perfume is the most realistic lilac scent I ever smelled. I pretty much only get the lilac, but after a few hours, I begin to smell the vanilla. Unlike many other reviews, it stayed a long time on my skin. I sprayed it in the afternoon, and I still smelled the vanilla the morning after. I will definitely buy it soon!

Its a beautiful strong floral ! Aurélien Guichard is one of my favorite perfumer and with this Lilas i’m in heaven. It’s more a eau de parfum than eau de toilette, its complex and sensual with a very realistic lila. It’s gorgeous! It deserve to stay permanently in Fragonard collection. A great perfume!

This is lovely. It screams spring. It's like putting your face in a bucket of lilac flowers. It dries down pretty quickly on me and I can smell the violet and the vanilla pretty soon after spraying it on my skin. It's powdery and doesn't last long!

I do wish it lasted longer... However, this realistic scent of lilac compensates for the longevity. It instantly takes me to these lovely evening walks in the streets filled with summer scent and reminds me of beautiful moments in my life.

If you don't want to spend 300$ on En Passant get this! Beautiful, realistic and fresh lilac scent. They are almost identical and I even think Lilas has better performance than En Passat.

This baby has a new bottle and a permanent place in collection with hand cream, air freshener and big refill bottle. I smell no difference whatsoever. I guess it was popular...

I looooove this! We had lilac bushes near my home growing up and this scent is 100% spot on. If you love the smell of fresh lilacs, this is for you!

A spring in Paris kind of perfume. Loving the lilacs in it.

Very realistic and natural smelling. It is a beautiful lilac perfume, an intense, intoxicating floral. It can get heavy and for that reason my instinct would be to wear it in autumn through winter to early spring. Although I've not tried it in summer yet, maybe it would develop in a surprising way. I like it and appreciate it, but I'm not sure if I will love it. It's a bit too mono themed for me, I would like it to be a little more complex, perhaps an interpretation of the lilac scent rather than an imitation of it.

Wow! That's a strong one!! It really does smell like photo-realistic lilacs and I love that about her, but wow!!!! Really strong!!!! It's a bit much for me, someone who likes softer and subtler perfumes. If you want to be the personification of spring, though, this is the scent for you. I wore a single spray on my wrist to bed and it was still there when I woke up, albeit much more subdued. I think I'd be in love if I layered it with a soft, milky scent.

As its name suggests, it is a perfume that smells of lilac. A very realistic lilac which still lets a little vanilla scent shine through, quite subtle but persistent. It's objectively a pretty floral perfume, perfect for spring, but I definitely don't like pure floral perfumes and particularly those that smell of lilac or lily of the valley. On the other hand, it will delight lovers of florals because it is very well made. Excellent value.

This smells just like lilacs on the first spray and that lasts for quite a while. It has that bright green quality to it and a very slight musk that makes it a very pleasant. There is a powdery note like all floral fragrances have to my nose but it's not overwhelming. It's a little more fresh-green than i prefer, i tend to lean toward more dark earthy notes but this is very pretty and I do enjoy it. Just not my favorite.

i sought out this perfume because i missed walking past the blooming lilac on my way to class each morning while in my last semester of university. this is beautiful and realistic. it opens a little “perfume-y” and is really strong for the first 30 minutes or so, but then mellows out to a pure, fresh, genuine lilac, like i’m in the vicinity of that college campus lilac bush again. fantastic for the price.

Very strong almond to me with this one. Almost too overpowering once you notice and it completely wipes out the initial lilac burst. It’s growing on me, more complex with its layers than the name implies for a simple lilac fragrance. A warm powdery but also heady scent. Try it if you like almondy/strong powder florals. A lovely vanilla dry down too.

I blind bought this because I wanted it to be like Totally Whire by Parle-Moi de Parfum. While Lilas is a realistic lilac, it’s a bit deeper and more perfumey than Totally White, but I still like it. In the drydown, it is somehow reminiscent of Florabotanica or perhaps You or Someone like You by ELDO.

I hope that Fragonard adds Lilas to their permanent collection, given its popularity. The perfect, convincing lilac perfume, this is a lovely green floral fragrance with a hint of cloves. A real stunner, in my opinion.

Still getting to know this one but so far, wow! It's just like sticking your face into a cluster of lilacs on the bush! So good especially considering the price.

Soapy clean florals. I wish there was more clove and black currant. I don't really detect them at all. Nor do I get any vanilla sweetness or lemon. Maybe the musk is there doing something, but I can't tell. Despite the floral dominance, it isn't oppressive like so many white florals. Lilas is delicate, feminine, and airy. There is a coldness to it. Like cold spring with crocuses peeking through the snow. On my skin there is an aspect that ends up smelling almost like paint. It reminds me of opening up a watercolor palette. Kind of a powdery note? Can't tell what that is. Again, I wish this was more balanced and less floral, but it's not a bad floral.

I do get lilac, but not just the soft gentle lovely smell of the blooms in May but also the stem, leaf greenness, and maybe bark. The latter notes are not my olfactory preference. There is slight citrus. But this persistent dirt and tree note kinda overshadows the lilac scent. So far the best lilac dominant perfume I smelled is Aerin’s Lilac Path.

Opening truly smells like lilacs. Unsweetened, authenthic lilacs blooming in the summer. The violets make the scent powdery and feminine. Smells like summer. Violets rule the dry down, I even get notes of neroli and iris. Longevity and sillage is enormous. For me it’s too strong to wear, but I want to try the lilac room diffuser in the spring.

I want to love this as I love the scent of lilacs but to me this is too soapy musky , I don't get linden unfortunately I do get lilac and violet but wrapped up in this old lady soapy powdery cloud that for me at least makes it something I wouldn't wear.doesnt last long . I blind bought it so will try to gift it on .

I had expected more of a fresh-fruity character in the opening based on the notes, but to my nose this is a very musky, almondy (from the heliotrope) powder bomb all the way through. Like all Fragonards it smells very natural, but if you don't lean strongly into powder I would definitely sample before buying.

Great value for price! The scent is not long lasting but very refreshing while it lasts. It reminds me of lilac blossom scent but does not resemble it like I would like to. I feel like it's close but not quite.

soapy musky old lady lilac scent , blind bought it and not the natural smelling lilac I was hoping for .don't get any lemon , or linden but do get hawthorn and a slight violet . not very long lasting .

Just lilac, nothing else. After 15 minutes it changes to a cat's urine. Sorry. I don't like it. And it lasts 2 hours maybe.

This is very pretty t something in it gives me a splitting headache. I’m not sure what it is but wow... it’s almost instant. Thankfully I have Matsu which is a perfect Lilac perfume, otherwise I’d be gutted!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Who needs Lilac Path when you can have this? It’s cheaper, the lilac is just as realistic, and the brand doesn’t make me feel icky. (Aerin and Estée Lauder use child labor) Right away it’s fresh, realistic lilac. Spring has sprung. After a while it settles into a natural sort of sweetness while maintaining the lilac. Lasted about 3-4 hours on me, but I don’t mind. I’ll lotion up well!

Oh my this smells like spring. A big bouquet of freshly cut lilac petals, the leaves, the stem and all. It doesn’t last very long and it smells too real and soapy to wear as a perfume. A bit one dimensional, but good if you just want straight up green lilac. Imagine drop d’issey and you stripped down the creaminess from it. I don’t love it, yet I bought it.. for layering and the bottle is really pretty.

This is a good lilac scent that is lightly softened by the fruity notes while the cloves and vanilla gives the scent more depth. Even though this is an EDT - I got about 5 hours with only 3-4 sprays. This is a similar lilac to Pacifica French Lilac but with added depth. I the new bottle style that is refillable and it is now permanent. Love it! I wish we could get the large refill bottles in Canada.

A natural and intoxicatingly sweet spring bouquet, with linden and hawthorn blossom and violet as well as lilac. I cannot pick out any clove or blackcurrant, and the musk is very subdued which suggests (to me, anyway) that this is a well blended fragrance with the non-floral notes working together in the background to showcase the flowers, especially the standout star of the show.

It is a pleasant lilac scent for about an hour and then it fades into kind of nothing. I had high expectations for this one based on the reviews, but it didn't deliver. edit: to UK peeps, this just recently became available through M&S

I purchased this to scratch the FM En Passant itch. It's lovely and photorealistic. Sometimes I layer it with NR Poudree to soften it a bit and it smells absolutely lovely that way, as well.

The perfect fresh, green, summery scent, with a hint of sweetness and powder. Wore this all through the summer of 2024. Very complimentary scent, would deffo buy again.

Not a long lasting fragrance but, at the price point, it's really not a big deal as it makes up for it in a true to nature lilac scent. Very pretty as is the bottle.
