Melodie

I'm sampling 'new' Mélodie and I must say it ressembles very much what lara0905 below described. Notes on the sample are a bit different. Head: redcurrant, grapefruit and raspberry. Heart: rose absolute, peony and pink peppercorn. Bottom: cedarwood, Moss and vanilla. In reality, wearing it, it's a lot like In Love Again that Jean-Claude Ellena did for YSL. It has that characteristic blackcurrant-grapefruit opening on the bed of roses that he used several times like in Rose Ikebana, Kelly Calèche and In Love Again. But the base goes in another direction; it reminds me of florientals of the '90, but in the good way, it's complex, smooth and, apparently, endless. A lot like the base of J'adore when it first came out. Despite its lack of originality, it's extremely well done and quite charming. Again, ingredients are of great quality and smell more natural that any of the perfumes I mentioned above smell today. I enjoy it very much. I wouldn't mind a bottle.

I had it for only a little time, but the essensce - I must admit it is my signature, got it first as a test bottle from my friend who would have contact with Fragonard. My first Fragonard was some orange/mandarine mixture which I bought in the Fragonard's factory in France - I was 16 then - that was the great scent for me then, now I dislike that, do not remember that name even. I miss the Melodies - i wish i could get that again:)

The New version 2024 is a wonderful rose, complex, opulent and so realistic. It’s like Rosa Gardenia or Rosa from SMN! It’s like walking in a beautiful garden surrounded by flowers, very Marie Antoinette styles ! A pure délice ! The sillage is strong and long lasting. Thanks Fragonard !

The name almost gives it away. But instead of thinking grand aria and pretentious scales, or a full-blown orchestral swell, think that gentle hum under your breath as you brush your fingers across the garden. Can you feel it?—blissful, content, relaxed. Now accordingly, we open up crisp, the lemony-citrus note so super sheer and bright, not soda level fizz, but sparkling dew-tipped leaf. The first step into nature. A lemon that’s still clinging to its tree, quietly absorbing the green of its stem. Then comes the cassis: not the thick ammoniac or bitter crème de, but the faint smell of the leaf when you crush it underfoot. Overall it gives this tangy, little herbaceous mouth(nose?)feel. Somewhat like it’s still sun-warmed and soft under your thumb. What follows is a rose that feels alive. Not jammy damascena, not overly powdered or poised french, but a tinge of the turkish's breath. Maybe it's the citrus top giving it that fresh, effervescent, thriving vibe: a pretty garden rose, light but not flighty, edges brushed with a shimmer of violets, a glimmer of jasmine. There’s nothing heady here. Pure, pure balance. And this scale doesn't tip, not once, even as the dry down rests into a warm musk. Nothing akin to skin musks or laundry whites, but a soft golden hum, like a pale scarf worn all day and kissed faintly by rosewater. A deep hum to end it all off. What a glorious time. It's not avant-garde like the contemporary ensemble: it doesn’t try to reinvent the floral wheel. But god, it’s charming. Charming and familiar. Picture all the sharp cassis-rose combo you've experienced (or refused to experience) and walked away reeling —this is the anti-diva. Unobtrusive, lovely. A soft-spoken melody that lingers sweetly without ever shouting. Splendid.

This is a "perfumey" scent, in the best sense of the word- For some time now, I've been favoring simpler, more natural smelling compositions, but this is actually a nice change- Melodie is appealing in a nostalgic '70s vintage sort of way- It reminds me of my Cachet and Estee Lauder days...
