Secret Absolu

I got this fragrance off my dad which he didn't like at all. Admittedly, on paper, I didn't love it either, but it is actually a real nice wear. The opening is pepper and citrus BLAST - it took me by surprise how strong it was and it can be a little off putting, frankly. It then tones down to a BEAUTIFUL woody fragrance with tons of depth that shifts to reveal the musk, tonka, and leather after some time. It projects real nicely and leaves a good trail. My only gripe with it is that it doesn't last too long - after 5 hours it was barely a skin scent - but nothing that can't be fixed with a few more sprays. In fact, I tested this by applying the CurlyFragrance tm method and it lasted well throughout the next day. For its price, its a total steal. The bottle is UGLY though.

I find this perfume very pleasant, with a clear presence of wood accompanied lightly by leather. The sillage is moderate, and the longevity on my skin is around 6–8 hours, which I find excellent for an Eau de Toilette. This is an elegant, clearly masculine fragrance. I wouldn't wear it every day, but I consider it to be of very good quality. You can tell they’ve used good quality ingredients. Best suited for cold weather. I've tested it on office days and found it pleasant — not intrusive at all. The opening is strong, but over time it settles down and finds harmony on the skin. On clothes, longevity is noticeably longer. It was an excellent experience buying this perfume at their store in Paris-Montmartre.

I have an aftershave balm variant of this one, so this review assumes that it is an accurate representation of the actual fragrance. This is undoubtedly one of the best green fragrances that I've experienced. The dominant accord here is the cypress and leather combination, which lends a fascinating bitter, green, herbal effect similar to galbanum. Also has a significant dose of pepper, though I don't get oud at all. A pretty unique experience.

Very woody, reminds me of my Dad’s workshop back when I was a kid! My first thought was Comme de Garçons Wonderwood, lovely pencil shavingness! Great quality, smells expensive. Not particularly Oudy, it is masculine but would smell great on women. My only regret is not buying the 200 ml bottle!

What an incredible fragrance for the price, the highlights are the base notes that are making that juice so potent, I'm not a big fan of oud but this one is so well blended and that cypress on top, delicious ! The more it goes the more aromatic it gets

I bought it at a Fragonard store at the wonderful Nice, France street market. I had little time to decide amongst their offerings. Very woody - yes, it does remind me of Comme des Garcons Wonderwood. There is a very slight leather note in here, and whatever oud is in it isn't the attar or cough syrup notes, so good. It is tragically weak, however. It doesn't project and it is gone fairly quickly. I am so tired of weak scents... c'mon, perfume industry... up the concentrations so we feel like we've gotten value for money! The price was right: 44 Euros, which, a week or so ago when I bought it, was about on par with the dollar. But I wish it lasted and projected more.

Had the shower gel for a year. Loved it and got the perfume eventually. It’s a lovely fragrance, woody, but somewhat fresh and “introvert” at the same time. Not too elegant not too laid back. Cypress is my favourite note here, must be violet that gives it a more intriguing nuance. Patchouli leather and oud hard to detect for me. I rather thought there was cashmeran but it’s probably musk+tonka bean that gave me that feeling. Pity it’s so weak and doesn’t project or last much. Hopefully some months of sleep will help it. Bottle super cheap and same size as some 50ml I have... trust it was overfilled..

A light, aromatic eau de toilette suitable for everyday wear, Secret Absolu makes me feel like I just returned from a forest hike. The cypress and cedar notes are very prominent, but overall the entire fragrance feels cohesive. Like mint, I find the cypress and violet leaf notes cooling and perfect for a summer day. When I put this on, I feel like I'm stepping beneath a forest canopy. I like how natural and life-like this scent is.

Very decent woody aromatic fragrance. From the opening you get : cedarwood, earthy vetiver, green, aromatic and spicy. The dry down is pretty much the same as the opening. Reminds me a little bit of : Bois Imperial by Essential Parfums ( spicy woody dna) and a tiny hint of Fahrenheit ( ozonic, petrol vibe). Very decent quality for the democratic price point. Worth sampling. Also, very nice as a all year round scent.

I got a sampler of this from Fragonard and it is a lovely round, rich, expensive-smelling scent. To me, it smells of someone in a suit at a whiskey bar smoking a cigar. It reminds me of Dior Farenheit because of the deep leather notes and a bit like Spicebomb because of those round amped-up pepper and spice notes - I think someone who likes those two would appreciate Secret Absolu as well.

Smells like a reasonably well made typical mainstream mens' fragrance - synthwoods, pepper, citrus, amber, musks and a very clean and safe "oud" accord which is barely noticeable. Well made but not remarkable or unique artistically.

This is a question rather than a review: does anyone remember that Fragonard used to have an eau de toilette for women by this name, Secret Absolu? I had a bottle from the early 2000s, but it's turned in the meantime, and has none of what I loved it for. A towellette sample I still have says it has notes of bergamot, lavender, lemon, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, ginger, vanilla, iris, petitgrain, jasmine and neroli. It was wonderful, and I wonder why they discontinued it, and used the name for something else.

My boyfriend bought this on a recent visit to the perfumery, we chose it together. It had a lovely rich scent, is very long lasting and fantastic value.

Crispy green, piney, followed by a solid oud base, lathered and mysterious. Dark. I find this chiaroscuro interesting. Powerful too.
