Violette

My mum just sent me her bottle of this in the post, as she said it's beautiful but she can't wear it. This surprises me because she loves Chanel Coco EDP which is also a floral with sweet fruity notes with an amber base, but is also much spicier whereas I think maybe Violette is lighter and more simple, it probably lacks some complexity that gives that super luxurious impression. I really like it, definitely a light daytime spring fragrance I can wear, unlike the intense overbearing wintery frags I love to buy and sample. A lovely balance to my collection

As a child I had a violet perfume that I loved. I do smell the violet in here, but it's more complex than a single note violet composition. To me Violette by Fragonard smells like a field of violets, incorporating grasses and clover. There is a small touch of sweetness (the raspberry) - just enough. I find this scent very refreshing and feminine. I don't usually like floral fragrances - especially ones that are named after one particular floral note - but I love this one because it's so refreshing and doesn't overwhelm you. Fragonard continues to impress!

I loved this fragrance from first sniff--love violets!--and truly regretted not buying it while abroad. Happily, you can get it on Fragonard's site now. It's a fresh, fruity green violet. On first spray, I get fresh and sweet berries mixed with violets and as it dries down I'm left with a very fresh green violet scent. It's much greener than I remembered, but I still love it. It's definitely not powdery like Yardley's April Violets. Is it my perfect violet? No. But now I'm obsessed with trying all the violet scents I've learned about on this site!

This is my absolute favorite violet fragrance ever. Other violet focused fragrances smell like the violet wilted in the bottle. I was in search of a lively, less powdery violet, and this is it: Gorgeous and perfect. It is subtle and I wish it would last a little longer. I am definitely going to buy a bigger bottle.

I just love this one. Fragonard seems to be all about quality, but Violette (Mimosa and Muguet) are not expensive at all. It reminds me of Feerie by Van Cleef and Arpels, but Violette is a green violet. It is beautiful, romantic, sweet. A bottle of kindness and poetry.

I LOVE this fragrance so much!!! My mom got me a sample from a trip to Europe, and I fell in love with it, so I bought a bottle online, but then she left it in the car and the sun turned it rancid 😭🤣... I need another one as soon as posible! 10/10 definetly

This has been one of my signature scents for a decade now. If you're planning to get this one from Fragonard directly, be quick because it's getting discontinued!

Fragonard Violette on my skin, is like the olfactory form of a violet candy. The opening is a zippy blast of sweet red berries and tangy citrus, while the herbal, slightly spicy violet takes its turn to the front about 20 minutes later. But eventually, after about 1 hour, Fragonard Violette settles down into a cheerful, tart sweet, slightly powdery blend of violet, various red berries and musk, and stays so till the end. The sillage of Fragonard Violette is strong to moderate, and the longevity is around 9 hours. Being a bubbly violet-berry combination, Fragonard Violette does remind me of Van Cleef & Arpels Féerie and Guerlain Insolence. While Fragonard Violette is eventually much less powdery than Insolence, I do find it very close to Féerie, only a bit less transparent than the later. I'd definitely recommend it as an affordable option to those who are interested in a joyful violet candy fragrance.

I miss Crabtree and Evelyn's older perfumes. I really loved their Venetian Violet and wanted to find something that was similar to that really lovely fruity violet perfume. This is close, not a dupe but close enough to make me happy. Violette is fresher than Venetian Violet. Venetian Violet had a creamier texture that juxtaposed and contrasted w/ the metallic twang of the violet. Violette is a nice orange and blackberry violet fragrance that captures the mood of spring. I also think it can be worn in late summer and early fall because the blackberry really shines, and blackberries ripen late. I think I will have to check out more from this house in the future.

This is a sweet fruity violet fragrance, and reminds me of those sugar coated fruit drops which tasted more natural than artificial jelly sweets. Fragonard’s modern interpretation of a classic violet floral water isn’t as powdery as most, nor does it give out that dense green violet cloud. The sheer, fruity quality and modern bottle will therefore probably be more appealing to younger wearers. This would be a lovely gift to a little child I think. For me though, I still prefer the sharp green powdery kick of Yardley’s older version of April Violets.

A very nice, well rounded concoction: a violet scent at the beginning (not a powdery kind), gradually (over about 4 hours on me) giving way to a soft berry aroma. Gives a noticeable sillage for a couple of hours, then stays close to the skin. To me, a beautiful example of real art of parfumérie: a seamless, thoroughly pleasing blend, delightful from beginning to end. A classic from an old romantic novel, totally at home in modern world. Ageless and classy.

Sweet purple fragrance, comforting berries, tender scent, childish in a good way. It’s like eating a blackberries yogurt in a violet field, in sunny spring.

Fresh, green violets. It's my favorite perfume to wear in warm weather rain. Feminine without being overpowering. A great way to brighten a gloomy day.

Fragrance Review For Violette Fragonard Top Notes Orange Blackberry Mandarin Orange Middle Notes Violet Rose Jasmine Base Notes Raspberry Musk Amber Violette is both a French given name (female name) which means violet flower and purple color as well as the actual flower fleur violette native to Europe; though most commonly found in England. For a perfumery house such as Fragonard, known for both simple scents and more complex scents, this is one of the more modern fruity florals for spring/summer season. Not a single thing about this perfume is unisex and it's girly girl sweet and sugary. Not my bag usually but it's spring and I crave sweet things like the scents of fruits flowers and gourmand notes in my fragrances i.e. vanilla, chocolate, berries, whipped cream and so forth. True to it's name, this is a purplish scent smells feels and is purple/violet. The first spray is rather loud, an exclamatory outburst of blackberry fruity berry with that raspberry down in the depths wafting up into the top. Berry berry berry. If you don't like berries forget about it. This is a berry perfume. Some of it feels just a touch inky but that's probably the alcohol denat chemical note that is prevalent in most if not all fragrances. The harsh opening softens into the fruity summery pairing of oranges and berries. But this is still mostly berry. The sweetness lingers and turns into fruity candy. Eventually it segues into the floral heart which is mainly a heady violet. The rose and jasmine are supposed to be there but if they had been stronger the powdery effect most florals have would be detectable. I am getting mostly doses of white florals so it's jasmine plus violet. Ultimately the violet comes out on top. This violet flower is made of neon and it's loud and extravagant. The violet seems to be a bouquet of pure violets. The violets are lovely and perfectly capture the season we're in now when flowers bloom and you feel good and you're in love or you're happy with very few cares. The scent is youthful, girlish, and apt for girls in school to wear daily as a casual scent but seems to be asking you to treat her with some respect so no jeans and shirts dresses and or tops and skirts. My sister goes for these type of perfumes usually not me but this is very nice and smells great and works with my skin chemistry. The dry down is a touch of amber but mostly musk. The scent turns jammy and jello ish with a raspberry mingling with amber. The musk is barely there I mean it's not animalic at all but it gives this scent the right touch of longevity. The scent lingers and lasts for over 5 hours if sprayed liberally. If sprayed minimally the scent is soft and tame with a delicate violet meets berries type of a smell. Ok so this is not complex not a statement maker but it's cute fresh clean and fruity. It satisfies my itch and I got my fruity floral itch. Give this a try if you're into the modern sweet youthful fruity florals. Thank You Fragonard.

I was pretty disappointed by this one (and also feel a bit like I'm going crazy from the other reviews). Definitely not a photorealistic violet perfume on my skin. I can smell a faint whisper of violet around the bottle, but then I spray it on and its VERY green floral with just an echo of berry. No powder...no violets. I think its just trampled by the jasmine (and citrus?). After a few hours it settled into a sweeter, berry/rose scent, which I quite like, but the first notes are too nauseatingly floral to wear this perfume often. Its not bad on a cool spring day, though I like it best when its just on my wrists and my hands stay at my sides. I've owned this a few years now and have made peace with it. You know what they say: "forgiveness is the fragrance of the violet which still clings fast to the heel that crushed it."

Sweet and simple. I am smelling a linear scent made up of a raspberry candy with violet, lots of sugary sweetness like a purple jolly rancher, and it becomes subdued and turns into an amber with musk. It's not mature, it's definitely for younger girls, teen or early 20's casual. Goes with a pretty but casual dress nothing fancy. A girl's night out with just the girls. It's generic and like a Victoria Secret perfume. But it is very nice, very up my alley and my personality. If you like sweet florals with extra berry flavor, this is a delightful spring and summer perfume to spritz on just to make YOURSELF feel good when wearing it and going about your day with a sweetness. Love it.

It is a very soft sensual sweet feminine fragrance. The first time I smelled it was on the stairway after someone who was wearing it had been there. I was enamored by it. I asked the women around who it was and what it was. Then I stepped into the office of the woman that apparently had been wearing it. I'd never heard of Fragonard and was curious. To me it is like soft candied violets with a dash of rose. Very, very feminine. Luckily the price of it is pretty fabulous. And a little goes a long way. A real nice choice to wear When you need something delicate but sexy.

Hmmm. Not sure about this. It smells almost like citronella in the opening. Its very juicy fruit mix, berries and oranges with a musk note, its synthetic like to me, i do not get any violets. Its not a very well blended formula, spiky i would say, sweet berries, a rose & musk note equaling a very generic formula. I was expecting real violets from the house of Fragonard! Whats going on?! Agree its like Van Cleefs Fairy.

A beautiful green, fresh violet that opens with a bubbly berry blast. The violet is not powdery or too sweet. Faint hints of roses cuts through for a short time. It’s dries down to a fresh green leafy violet. Perfect for springtime. It’s soft, subtle and inoffensive.
