This perfume is right up my alley! Ambery, light florals, a touch of rich, almost candied tangerine, with some cumin and musky skank in the base. Heaven! Feels like a modern niche version of some of the 80s amber/oriental fragrances and will probably appeal more to vintage lovers (which I am). I want to point out that this is amber fragrance, not ambergris. They aren’t the same. Amber is a fantasy accord in perfume, created using vanilla, patchouli, labdanum, styrax, benzoin, etc., and it’s what we used to call oriental fragrances which is now frowned upon. This is most certainly an amber fragrance. Is it like Ambre Sultan or something like that? Nope, not at all, it’s not that kind of amber. It feels more glamorous, like something a movie star with a long cigarette and red lipstick might wear. Though it’s certainly unisex, it has a bit of a femme fatale vibe. Fans of vintage perfumes or something like Nuit Noire by Mona di Orio might appreciate this one.

I've got a sample of this Amber Intense and tried it yesterday. It is still very strong in my clothes today. I like this much better than Tom Ford's Amber Absolute, whose strong incense note I can't stand. In general, I like how Fragrance Du Bois fragrances feel 'natural'. The only thing is: I think I went heavy with the sprays. This Amber Intense, as the name sugests, is kind of potent. I would go easier next time, but definitely a fragrance worth its price. I think I will try to layer it with No4 Bois de Balincourt sometime. Ah, and by the way, I don't know what that tangerine note is about on the 'Main Notes' diagram above. Seriously...This is all about amber (Benzoin) to me. Best Amber fragrance I have tried so far. 7/10 Edit: It has been 30 hours now, since I applied Amber Intense, and I can still clearly smell it projecting from my shirt in the laundry basket when I walk by.

The beauty or more like evil beauty of being a scent fan for years is knowing how really only long term hardcore followers will discern superlative quality in it's own time and place. Case in point is Amber Intense, Q80 below found it cloying and too rich in his experience. Most probably not understanding Amber Intense is strictly for special occasions , never a daily or even going out type of perfume. In it's own right this scent is captivating, opulent and reeks of class. Although is does take some time to appreciate such creations , taking the time to find those unique special occasions to wear Amber Intense is worth the money spent. Edit : Just wait for the drydown, even the next day & understand the sheer quality of this scent. Wow ! 8/10

I recommend trying this and forming your own opinion. There is nothing fecal here. Oud is appropriately voted as near the bottom of the notes. This starts out with fresh tangerine and musk on my skin. It is slightly powdery, but the freshness is there. As this fragrance develops, the brighter notes give way to the spices, musk, and oud. On me, the base is reminiscent of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Oud. Performance is amazing. And, @jeffwithwings - with all due respect, this was never meant to be “mainstream.” If that’s what you want, you made the right decision passing on this. To anybody who wants anti-mainstream, I highly recommend giving it a try.

I actually can't understand all the hate. Sure, it's overpriced and all as most fragrances are, and I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion or whatever, but this is probably the best fragrance I have ever smelled. This is a refined and warm yet clean and charismatic concoction. It's as if I was wearing a robe of the finest gold thread, cashmere. and silk yet that robe was actually a versatile hoodie or something. There is a smell that is strangely high-class yet perfectly balanced and inviting. The rest of the FDB line doesn't really do it for me, but this is far and away a masterpiece like no other in my opinion.

This is the current perfume my girlfriend wears, I love when she combines this one with her. Billie eilish no.2. I love the mix of the Woody and Smoky scents. Typically I hate cumin in every fragrance but it doesn't come through super strong here as anything but a natural musk. Gives me very strong patchouli / sandalwood vibes though I know those aren't base notes 🤔

From the first time I smelled this perfume I knew it was special This is a soft smooth Amber unlike any other. I love the smooth elegance of this perfume. The notes are so well blended that it gives hints of them rather than a burst! For me this is an anytime wear. Amber Intense was love at first sniff and I am proud to have it in my collection. 💜💜

It opens with a boozy top of spiced rum accompanied by woody notes of oud and Peru balsam. The image of the barrel in the note list is fortuitous since this rum smells like it was aged in a wooden cask. It has the same rolled-cigar tobacco depth as an expensive scotch. After the first half-hour, the booziness fades and the scent settles into a thick, powdery haze of vanilla and indistinct piquant spices. The bitterness of the oud and resins provides a pleasing medicinal base reminiscent of natural vanilla bean and burnt sugar. About an hour into the dry down, the saffron becomes more transparent. I am reminded of Baraonda by Nasomatto. The similarity is substantial enough that I might as well save $500 and stick with the marble cap. This is not a critique of the scent, just my budget. Amber Intense is actually very beautiful and is obviously made with a lot of fine natural ingredients. Well done, and definitely worth a sniff. Testing this bind (but knowing what house), this opened with a clear musky and animalic body, but with a sense of freshness to it. Then I got a bit of incense or myrrh coming up but stopping short of morphing into another realm. Layered, complex, a little moody, a bit funky, but relatively strangely pleasant I am finding it. Looking at the mirage of notes now, I'm sticking to my characterization of a musky animalistic fresh scent. I can pull out most of the notes by suggestion, and suspect that the musk, amber, black current, and oud notes are standouts, while the many others float around, the orange feeling more dominant at the very top. It's after a while the mirage calms and you're left with a warm and pleasing amber and oud funkiness that I must admit is a little raw and sexy. Now the difficult thing, price point. This smells to me what someone else's foray (doesn't matter how cool your caps are) into perfumery was trying to be, but does it sooo much better. But 3x's the price point be better?

Smooth blend. One of the better offerings from this house. Consistent and linear, strong, pronounced (almost candied), resinous amber accord. Mix in some cinnamon, citrus, spices and wood, and you've got Amber Intense. Nothing ground breaking, but this is well done. The listed profile seems accurate and there is a general intensity to the scent, although it's refined; that's despite the other fragrances from FDB baring the 'intense' monicker, which are anything but... I dig this one. I just wish it weren't so expensive. A luxurious wear.

Pleasant woody aromatic that is unfortunately named badly - because it contains no amber (the ambery accord is made up of labdanum, patchouli and styrax - which is a common practice in perfumery but unpardonable in this case because this is a very expensive perfume). The scent is like an overstuffed dessert. It opens with a variety of citruses, saffron, cinnamon and slight cumin. The heart contains the amber accord surrounded by florals and blackcurrant. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of synthetic musk, peru balsam, benzoin and slight oud. The unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. It does feel luxurious, but the luxury feels superficial. Enjoy!

This is a very potent, amber, brown fragrance, a bit boozy for colder times ( Winter & Fall ) I enjoy this more on the dry down than the initial blast for sure. I don't get that fecal stuff some others have been saying before me. For the type of fragrance, I'd expect more longevity. While it does last, it turns into a skin cent after sometime. I'm not loving it though enough to buy this.

Got a sample of this at the store. while i like the combination of citrus and oud - there are better ouds out there i think. doesn't fully connect for me to something cohesive. i wouldn't hate having it on, but i'd probably prefer not to. i feel like my recently purchased Amouage - Overture is a much better take on the citrus + amber/oud/oriental/incense/liquor combo.

It's definitely an Oriental perfume with spicy and candy fruty vibe to it. It smells quite nice but nothing grown breaking here. Also, as in most Fragrance Du Bois perfumes is way over priced! My 3 P's - Projection 6/10 - Performance 7/10 -Price 4/10

The company published description states, "perfumers imagination... at once harmonious and delicate but finely balanced with strength and longevity" and noted 'enigmatic fragrances'. Yup, I'd say that pretty well does NOT describe my experience with a sample. Of course it could have been the sample, but this was nothing like the description or lists of notes on several sites. I detected no amber in the scent despite the enticing name. On me it's a familiar of blast of citrus, pepper, herbs; dry-down to primarily dusty, slightly floral-herbal ruled by patchouli running to the finale. It fades out with mostly musk and the increased awareness of a bitter oud. This may have biased my trial, I didn't catch it on paper, but I have yet to meet an oud I like. One list of ingredients stated benzoin, but I sure never caught,and amber is one of my favorite perfume notes. The scent is both faint even with three sprays; and on me had poor sillage and longevity. The initial price point was insanely high, I suspect it's come down a good deal.

Powdery sour cinnamon. There isn't any amber in here, it's powdery sour yet spicy. Cumin, saffron, orange, tangerine, & cinnamon with hints of oud, lapdanum, and musk. The saffron, tangerine, and the orange adds a mildly sweet yet very sour with the help of cumin. It's fine but not as good as their other fragrances. fair experience. Edit (16th Dec 2017) This fragrance only comes in 100ml and it's in a limited patch because of the rarity of their ingredients. And about about the experience i had after sampling it again, no it wasn't a pleasant experience, it was quite bad actually cause that velvet sweet sounded overly cloying sweet than amber. It wasn't pleasant at all, it's mostly suffocating me when i applied it on my skin. A grand NO.

I was on the fence initially, but I ended up not liking the dry down. The opening is a juicy orange citrus with spices, patchouli and a light natural Oud. Very nice and memorable. Then the citrus fades, as expected, but what’s left is so strong and persistent that it gave me a headache...and I like strong scents. Three hours later and I feel nauseous, and I can’t isolate the culprit. It’s all the notes working together in overtime. So a firm pass. Good thing, because if the scent doesn’t make me vomit, the price tag does at $810 for 100ml.

Ok hear me out...it smells like spit. Almost as though you licked a piece of paper and then sprayed it with perfume 😅
