Cavort Extrait de Parfum

A mysterious and complex fragrance. Saffron is the star here played beautifully up against the florals. In the background I mostly get labdanum and a slight bit of woods and patchouli. There is an aromatic element present and I also get a bit of a soapiness, I believe it's the saffron combined with the florals. Incense is hard to detect. Actually it is so well blended, that all the notes overlap each other in perfect harmony, so it can be hard to tell them apart. It is warm and deep, almost in a 70% dark-chocolate way, though it is definitely not a sweet fragrance. If you like feminine floral fragrances and super sweet gourmands this might not be for you. Projection is great without being offensive (if you don't overspray) and longevity is amazing! I think it is perfectly unisex, and I enjoy wearing it on it's own or layered with a sweeter fragrance (like Baccarat Rouge) for a more feminine touch. I believe a youtuber recommended layering it with Milano (which is a leather fragrance from FDB). This combo actually does work quite well, but I personally prefer layering Cavort with a more feminine leaning perfume. This is a unique fragrance, and I don't think that there are many like it out there at the moment. If I were to mention some, I would definitely say that it is similar to Scherzo by Miller Harris, and it also resembles Side Effect by Initio and Gold Immortals by Ex Nihilo. Although there is no oud in Cavort, I do understand why it's compared to oud fragrances (like Scherzo), because it totally has oud-vibes! But without actually smelling like oud... Which makes it perfect for someone like me who really wants to like oud, but unfortunately keeps struggling with this note. Cavort vs Side Effect: I did a side by side test of Cavort and Side Effect one on each arm, and they actually do resemble each other in some strange way (especially in the first 1-2 hours). Although I think Cavort is the most similar to Scherzo (despite the oud) out of the three. Side Effect is a boozy tobacco+vanilla scent and Cavort is a spicy floral+woody scent, so they actually don't have much in common and the only shared notes are saffron, cinnamon and sandalwood. They are both extremely well blended, so despite the many differences, the combined blends give off a similar vibe. Cavort is more bold, dark and powerful and longevity+projection is better as well. Side Effect is more light, sweet and airy in comparison. A couple of hours in Cavort is still going strong in all it's spicy glory, where the spices in Side Effect has taken a step back and the vanilla has become more present. Side Effect can easily be worn day+night, where Cavort is more evening appropriate (or as a power/statement daytime scent). I also did a test of both on paper. Several days later, Cavort still came off strong on the strip, where Side Effect had faded much more. Cavort is simply a B-E-A-S-T, but in a balanced, beautiful and mesmerizing way imo. So if you want a dark spicy beast-mode fragrance in a beautiful bottle and don't mind paying extra for this, go for Cavort. If you want something sweeter and lighter, then go for Side Effect. And if you love oud, check out Scherzo before buying either. Btw this is not a safe blind buy - sample first :)

Ahhh... I purchased an 8ml decant of this and found myself wanting a bit more, day-by-day. Just before running out of my sample, I knew I had to order a full bottle because this one is going to grace my skin on the regular for the unforeseeable future. While I agree with others that this fragrance could be perceived as a broader audience signature scent relative to others from the FDB house, it is unmistakably unique, niche and unlike anything I have tried; the notes are so perfectly pure and blended. Also agree that the opening may feel a bit toward the feminine leaning but that passes as the heart and dry down clearly are more grounding and will easily grace the masculine. Oh how I would LOVE to smell this on a man, btw!! Also, the longevity is a solid 8-10 hours. Don't be fooled if, after a few hours, it may "seem" like it has a faint, close to the skin ghostly molecule presence...where you might think for a moment you may need to refresh. Because *pop!* it's back with all its incredible. As a matter of fact, I had only sprayed two mists on myself one late morning and by the early evening when I met my friend, she was taken aback with an intrigued smile of "What in the world is happening right now on you!!?" when we greeted. She said she could smell me ever so subtly, but magnetically throughout our meet! Yes, I think that's a wonderful way to describe this one, so *magnetic*!! I cannot wait to see how it wears on a warm summer day as the skin softens under the Sun with a balmy breeze. :) For me, this one completely outshines Secret Tryst - I had purchased an 8m decant expecting to favor it over Cavort. I was taken by complete surprise how sensually awakening Cavort is! I now have the biggest crush on Cavort (and it takes a LOT for me to say that about a fragrance!). As far as price, you can purchase for a 25% discount via a very reputable fragrance store in their occasional sales. At that price, it is absolutely NOT overpriced and 100% worth that last bit of lingering on your skin.

“Cavort is an intensely intimate fragrance that evokes the frisson of excitement of a first encounter.” This is one of the few fragrances that was love at first sight. I had a long list of scents i wanted to try maybe one year ago but the customer service picked this one straight off the shelf and said it was made for me. And it really was! 😍 I didn’t needed to try this for weeks to know if I love it or not. Ok, I went to take one Prosecco and after that I had made my decision. 🥂😅 Cavort is an mazing captivating blend of accords including warm spices, woody, amber and white florals. This is in the same time classy, unique, mysterious and sexy but still very easy to wear in all kind of occasions and outfits. This is perfect for autumn, winter and spring time but I can see myself wearing this during the chill summer evenings as well. Saffron makes this soft, intimate and earthy. Cinnamon gives warm, spicy note in the same time when Geranium lingers around in a pleasant aromatic way and Labdanum gives a deep power, a leathery note for the blend (this juice is not weak). Sandalwood and Patchouli settle down to soft and satisfying base notes and these all together stays all the day in my skin. I adore the mix of Ylang Ylang, Jasmin and Orange Flower together with Rose in the middle notes (and the whole blend oc). I find this really addictive and intoxicating yet sophisticated blend which projects strongly though. This beauty you have to experience yourself to understand totally what I mean. This is so perfectly blended and everything in this is in harmony: that’s why I tried to separate the notes because otherwise it would have been impossible to understand what’s going on. 💯 Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. Cavort has a mass-appealing factor without being generic or boring for a fragrance collector, the main note to mention is the saffron but this is so well blended its hard to take it apart and give a good telling of what exactly is going on. Anyways this fragrance has a smoothness that gives it some refined qualities but I find it is suitable for most occasions. This is exactly the same way I feel about New York 5th Avenue which is an all-time favourite of mine. Both were love at first sniff. My personal favourite of the new releases and has made its way to the top of my 'want list' with everything being said the price should stop you from blind buying this, I definitely think its worth sampling first.. especially if you're a man who likes more masculine fragrances as this may be a touch leaning feminine of its Unisex tag. (although to me perfectly Unisex) Edit: After some time owning a bottle this is a well received fragrance by everyone I wear it around, its definitely one of FDB's better fragrances for the average fragrance enthusiast as I feel some of FDB's other creations are far more acquired taste niche. Pretty safe bet overall. Would I buy: I intend on getting a bottle next paycheck (as of 18th March in mail) Recommended: Yes, worth a sample 100%

The feminine-leaning aspect that many of our peers have reported is attributed to the very very strong ylang jasmine centric composition here; a mixture which gives the entire composition an unmistakeable lotion-like vibe. This combination is seen thousands of times before, and is analogous to the oud rose combo that we all have grown accustomed to. I can already hear the sounds of many eyes rolling over. There is a spicy uplifting effervescent pop that counterbalances the the ylang ylang jasmine from going too over-the-top creamy overbearing. I like that aspect of it. If you get this as a full bottle cop, expect the ylang ylang jasmine duo. Forget the other notes for now, and first ask yourself this question: Do I like this combo? Go from there. Great spring time wear for me. I like it. Overpriced, but is a truly truly great ylang jasmine fragrance. The notes pyramid makes it seem more complex than what it really is. Secret Tryst on the other hand, is a banger!

I was able to snag this for 1/3 of the price, so I went for it as a blind buy. Initial spray I thought it smelled somewhat masculine, but within minutes, that changed. It became more feminine and intriquing. I will update more as I do a full wear test. I do know that the small spray lasted for quite some time and kept getting better and better. The packaging is also Glorious and truly a luxurious experience. Update: Full wear test and this is gorgeous. The initial spray is deep, woodsy, saffron heavy...but then it grows into this amazing blend. The rose, yling ylang & the orange blossom then SHINE through in such a beautiful yet complex manner that simply works. The perfect fall perfume

A head turner and captivating perfume. Gorgeus saffron, florals- davana, rose and jasmine come out beautifully, sprinkled cinnamon on top. I smell no ylang ylang. There is not oud but I smell oudiness. Multi layered and excellent quality. For a confident woman. Very sexy and seductive. Mysterious, elegant, smooth and silky yet very powerful and lavish. Perfect fragrance for a night out, fancy events and date nights. This is me in bottle when dressing up and looking at my best. Sometimes i spray this at daytime when I want to feel extra luxe. This will definitely protect and leave a trail. Lasts 8-10 hours. Outstanding and unique perfume. Get it! Unisex, leaning feminine.

Fucking amazing! Maybe the most unisex fragrance I have ever smelled. It floats in contrast of being a spicy masculine fragrance on men and a sexy as hell fragrance on women. Contrast of being sharp and spicy and smooth and floral. Contrast of being fresh enough for a summer and sexy enough for a date. Definitely one of the most unique blends out there. It’s pricey, but I would rather have one bottle of this than four designer fragrances that all smell the same. Only the second time I will give a fragrance a 10/10.

Ok I know what FDB up to, trying to make me broke ! And it’s working!❤️ ok so I can be abit funny with rose fragrances usually however this is truly a masterpiece. I know some find this more feminine however I personally find it leaned a little more masculine. As I’ve started to notice it’s really hard describing fdb fragrance as there are truly all masterpieces . It’s classy, kind of strong and smooth, I can detect the saffron but it’s not to in your face. I really do like this. Hope to buy the full bottle soon

When I bought it, I wasn't sure about the purchase because I bought it blindly. Now, after some time, my nose seems to have unblocked because I can smell this rich, intense scent, which is so smooth. I'm a man and I feel like it's leaning a bit towards women's fragrances, but I like it anyway. Unlike other FDBs, it has a long projection. One bottle will easily last you through the entire autumn and winter. You won't need more than three sprays.

There is something in here that is SOOOO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! It's intoxicating! Not sure which note that gets me or it's just how they all come together, it blends so smoothly. It's soft yet beastly, a love for me! I got this in September, its now late October and it just gets more and more beautiful 😍

Richly spicy rose complimented by saffron, incense, and cinnamon. Keeps spicy on my skin, veers on the drier side as it settles on my skin, the patchouli becomes more obvious to my nose. Cool/cold weather is best for this. Very strong out of the bottle and leaves a trail, lasts all day.

Love this smells very classy and slightly mysterious. It’s soft yet very strong! Comes off powdery on my skin I believe due to amber and incense combining. I think it’s absolutely stunning and definitely unisex as I do not like masculine leaning fragrances.

Stunning! Cinnamon, sandalwood, patchouli, saffron and rose are the notes that I smell the most in this. Imagine a beautiful femme fatale who knows what she wants and does not mind the attention, and wears the finest jewellery and a black dress.

This smells sooo good. This smells nothing like Initio’s Side Effect, which makes me nauseous, this just smells elegant. This leans more masculine than feminine. Test it out on skin 1st.

Excellent People, it lingers around for 10+ hours. Saffron+Ylang Ylang+ Jasmine are the key players.

Sweet powdery cinnamon mixed with an unmistakable fruity, leathery saffron. There is something gossamer musky in the background, something I find in a lot of "masculine" scents. The florals add dimension but do not overshadow. This smells like a lot like Carolina Herrera Confidential Saffron Lazuli. Cavort is muskier and a little more subdued, while Saffron Lazuli is juicier and more floral. Both do a tremendous job of showcasing a high-quality saffron, but you likely don't need both in your collection. I prefer Cavort, with its more elegant musky dry down.

Delicious spicy amber scent. It’s very strong— I just have a little 1.5 mL dabber and it projects even from a little dab on the wrist. Because of the strength and headiness I’d probably save it for nighttime. I’ll probably never get more than my little sample due to the price tag but it is fun to sniff!

The cinnamon in this hints at Initio Side Effect. But Cavort is way smoother and more complex. Really nicely blended with the florals, spices, incens and woods. What i think i get most is the cinnamon, geranium, rose, orange blossom and woody notes. Lovely scent!

this is like TF d eau ombre leather combined with initio side effect. cinnamon bubblegummy but less sweet and complex than initio and more depth and rich than TFs... if you own both tf and initio you wouldnt miss anything from this fragrance

One of their better fragrances with enough complexity & mass appeal of a fruity-floral-woody (rosy & almost oudy) scent.

To deny its similarities to Side Effect is to deny reality itself

A saffron-focused fragrance from Fragrance du Bois, notably without any oud. In recent years the brand seems to have released quite a few compositions built around this kind of structure. Right after spraying, saffron appears immediately, along with a touch of cinnamon. The spice is quite clear. Davana adds a slight fruity nuance so the scent doesn’t feel overly dry. In the heart, the florals mainly serve as a bridge. Rose, orange blossom, jasmine, and ylang-ylang are blended together, but none of them stands out as a lead note. It isn’t a lush white-floral accord either. Instead, the flowers sit quietly within the warm spice atmosphere. The drydown rests on a woody base of incense, sandalwood, and labdanum, giving the scent a smooth, clean finish. The defining quality of Cavort is balance. The transitions between spice, floral, and wood are very natural, without abrupt shifts. Longevity is fairly average, and projection is moderate.

The opening sillage of this fragrance is absolutely charming — intensely floral with a hint of spicy saffron. It strikes me as quite unusual, even fresh in a way — maybe because of the ylang-ylang, which I rarely wear, or the davana, which I’m not familiar with at all. If you bring the blotter closer and take a deeper sniff, you’ll start to catch the sandalwood and a leathery note that faintly echoes something from the Ford line. A couple of hours in, both on skin and blotter, it fades into the base — and honestly, that’s a bit of a shame. I wish the beautiful floral bouquet lasted longer. It’s a lovely, well-crafted fragrance, no doubt — but the price is off-putting. Byredo also does a great saffron, and while it’s completely different (saffron takes the lead there), I find myself reaching for that one more often. 7/10.

I loved this on paper. Each note unfolded and the floral heart was absolutely amazing after the cinnamon and saffron and against that heady base. One spray on my skin and it just smells like Side Effect or Rehab or something from Initio that I can’t wash it off. It smells rubbery and leathery. There is definitely iso e super or something nuclear in this that keeps it around and doesn’t get along with me unfortunately.

Cavort is a very classy fragrance. Luxury comes to mind when I smell this. Beautifully blended, cinnamon, saffron, rose and patchouli are some of the strongest notes I get. It’s very “niche” so not the most mass appealing scent but something that’ll stand out from the crowd.

Okay beautiful scent. I have not smelled anything like it in my collection. Resinous, spicy, some saffron. Definitely has the FDB DNA. Word of warning. Please go easy on the trigger. Those around you will thank you. 😊

To my nose it is predominantly saffron and rose, with a distinctive cedar-like pencil-shaving nuance. None of the other notes are perceptible to me.

Not for me at all, smells generic sweet too my nose, not the smooth quality that FDB usually serves. Would be more pleasant on a woman for sure tho.

All I smell is Outrageous shampoo from Revlon 😅 not a bad smell but for the price of the perfume, I’d prefer to just use the shampoo.

I liked this scent, it reminds me of Rosendo Mateu No 5 but darker. This is a very elegant scent, I get the amber, the incense, the saffron, the white florals are a bit shy on me, the don't shine. I like the scent, but it's extremely expensive. For this scent profile, I would definitely buy Rosendo Mateu No 5, it's stronger, lasts longer, it projects like crazy and it's brighter. I'm just so disappointed on Fragrance du Bois perfumes that lean feminine, they are so underwhelming... –Except for Santal Complet–. But well... I'll give Cavort another chance. Today was a hot day, maybe on cold weather I'll like it... I'll report back when I do. But, to be fair, I sampled Rosendo Mateu's No5 on hot weather and still liked it... Reporting back here, 5 months later. I tried this perfume again today, a cloudy, cold day, and I have to say I disliked it even more. Today Cavort smells like petroleum to me, the saffron note is too much for me. It still reminds me a lot of Rosendo Mateu No. 5, precisely because of the burnt rubber or petroleum note. It's still an elegant perfume, just not for me. Not only because of the price tag, but because of the strength of the saffron note. If it was gifted to me, I think I would not give it much use. And, I saw that this perfume is compared to Gold Immortals... I have that perfume and I have to say it smells nothing like it.

Cavort is a dry-spicy, powdery medicinal saffron. It’s a hazy, aromatic scent that’s saffron dominant with an earthy, indolic musk. The labdanum is second to the saffron giving a warm, musky, and slightly sweet aroma that’s slightly leathery. There’s a chalky-sweet powderyness like a musky mimosa. I get saffron and labdanum with davana, slight sandalwood and dry patchouli. It’s a dry-spicy scent with a metallic haze.

Heavy and heady spices on a bed of patchouli and incense. I do not get any of the florals in the slightest. Cavort leans masculine in my opinion and is not the least bit special. Don’t believe the YouTube hype.

I saw the comparison to Scherzo and Side effect so I expected to love this, but unfortunately on my skin all I smell is potpourri...

This is sharp and not sweet. It has an interesting clean aspect. Smells nothing like Side Effect! I quite dislike it.

Hell.To.The.NO!!! Soft... Where??? Unique? Yes, but in the worst way possible. I do not know what all the hype is on YT around this scent but it is loud and strong! I purchased a decant from MA (that was over $40, mind you) and I am so confused and underwhelmed by it. It leans very masculine on my skin and lasts FOREVER. Couldn't wait to get it off of me.

Price: This fragrance for the full size is approximately $385, which I believe is well worth what you get for this incredible scent. Overall Impression: This is the fragrance I imagine Maleficent to wear when she's wreaking havoc in the halls of the castle of those who dare declare that "B540 or Flower Bomb" are the best fragrances. This fragrance opens up in this barrage of warm, metallic, zest of the most potent dense bouquet of niche flowers you've ever smelled - when you think of flowers erase the scent of the typical designer fragrances you have referential point of understanding of. If this scent's flowers were part of a garden, they'd be located behind a roped off area of the garden that says "by appointment only" due to the rarity of the flowers, the scent and bloom times of these particular flowers. After the sharpness of the initial blast subsides, you're left with a purple velvety sensation to the nose that evokes a sexy leather, woodsy, acidic, sweet floral blend that is so so so desirable. If this fragrance were a word it would be "desirable" because of how posh, self-absorbed, sexy and they know it, regality that evokes the way in which Maleficent carries herself - like no other, no need to reduce herself to the B540s or Flower Bombs of the world. She truly is, the one to beat.

This is very sexy and dark smelling but clean and soapy at the same time which I find to be interesting and unique. Cavort is very well blended.. In my opinion it's the Perfectttt date night scent. I get so much saffron and then rose and patchouli. This scent is for when you are feeling alluring, confident, and elegant. Full bottle worthy for sure. I cannot wait to get my FB Update two months later, I finally got this scent I love love love the smell as I did but ugh I’m started to regret purchasing. For the price it just doesn’t last long enough. Lasts decent on clothes but disappears from skin within 2 hours 3 max. This entire house seems to struggle with longevity. Hence why I only own this one bottle. Don’t think I’ll get more. New York 5th which I love is the same, lasts about 2 hours. The Santal one.. which i LOVE, same thing. They really need to improve this or lower the price...it’s a complete slap in the face. When it comes to perfume I will spend whatever if I love it but it should atleast last.

A glorious veil of saffron hues composed around lifting radiant white flowers. The crimson red, burnt orange to golden yellow strands emit their spicy, honeyed-hay lustre cradled by davana with its sweet, tea-like smell, reminiscent of dried fruit. This softens the pungency of the leathery saffron without compromising on its substantial presence. The opening lasts and allows each note to shine without discordance. At the core of the fragrance velvety nuances of jasmine, orange blossom and rose are wreathed in a fine fragrant cloud of Indian olibanum smoke. The dew-laced roses add sweetness to the saffron and make it less dry. The shift from a spiced facet to a smooth polished floral is the allure of Cavort. Patchouli's earthy chords accompany gentle woods to round off the olfactory frolic. It has a genderless fluidity about it which quite appeals to me.

This is a very floral, soft warm spicy scent. Except I don’t get any orange blossom, it plays a very minor role, unless the soapiness I’m getting is coming from it. The other listed florals are there. This has zero sweetness to my nose but it’s still warm from the spices and white amber, if that makes sense. This is what I imagine “TV static” to smell like. Although I mentioned warmth or depth from the amber and cinnamon, there’s something cold about this at the same time; probably greenness from the geranium and lack of sweetness, even though this is not bitter to me. Like an icy hot pouch or the warmth you get from the fizz of a cold sprite. Really doesn’t fit my style at the moment but it smells great. I rated it moderate all around and unisex, right in the middle.
