Oud Bleu Intense

I love Roge's reviews and I can see where he's coming from with this one but I'm going to be entirely more lenient with this praiseworthy fragrance. I will start by saying it's not really my scene, bleu being essentially, an aquatic oud fragrance but I found it quite light and charming. The opening is fresh and yesty, the orange note is not typical to my nose but it's clear that it's not a sharper citrus either, so yeah, it's unusual. Then there's the smooth cardamom and sea breeze vibes which are not that salty, ambergris but more of the 90's men's designer aquatic nature. The base of resins is clearly there both rich and ambery to fresher olibanum type vibes and just feels quality along with the subtle oud backdrop. I really enjoyed it as another direction for this oud line to go and people who are into aquatics or fresh fragrances this could be your king. I'm also somebody who doesn't care all that much about pricing and have grown tired of the whinging I hear about brands like this and Clive Christian etc... If you don't see the value I get that and you have a right to express it and in many cases I might actually agree to some extent. What I don't like it vendettas and to deny a whole line (most of which they probably haven't tried) any merit or say that 'They are all garbage' or 'there's no oud in here' to deny the quality is crazy because I've sampled several of these now and they're all pretty fantastic. This all being said there's not many I'd part with the money to acquire. They are in more of the French/european tradition than they are Arabic (another critique I hear but FdB never made any such claims) and frankly the ones I've tried so far are very understated and some not big lasters or projectors, which again is fine because many other ones are. In reality to me Oud Bleu is just 'nice'

This is an absolute stunner! I was looking for a new high end fresh citrus or aquatic fragrance to add to my collection that gave me something unique and different, but also classy and I tried many including Roja Oceania and Oligarch, Xerjoff Nio, Initio Rehab, Nishane Ambra Calabria and Wulong Cha, but I decided on this. I already have the best summer Kilians for men (Bamboo Harmony, Vodka on the Rocks, Lemon in Zest and Love the Way You Taste) but I did not care for their Musk Oud - summery and classy, yes, but too much rose, giving an old lady kind of feel. And both Rojas gave an old man kind of vibe. But Fragrance du Boise hit an out of the park home run with this one...completely unique in that it is aquatic and elegant, Middle Eastern, but European, fresh, but classy, light but warm. It starts off with a dirty sweet menthol vibe I assume comes from the mixture of mandarin, cardamom, myrrh, and labdanum, which is cooling and fresh, inspiring, but also intoxicating and intellectual all at once. It reminds of of fountains in Rome and swimming pools but also expensive menthol hard candies. It gradually loses a little freshness and the sweetness to turn into something that smells like soapy incense and clean resins with a hint of black tea. The projection is high at first (for 2-3 hours) and moderate after that, lasting on my skin for about 8 hours before dying down to a skin scent you can still detect the next day. A bit expensive, but at least it was worth it - in terms of classy fragrances you can use in the summer it is leagues ahead of Roja Oceania and Oligarch, and adds that mesmerising, sexy, inimitable, dirty menthol summer stunner to any collection. Nothing like it out there! 10/10.

I’ve been wearing Oud Bleu Intense for the last four days, and the opening 30 minutes or so is superb. It’s an orange fizz “tinged” aquatic. I can smell the citrus with the salty blue notes. It’s really quite divine. But oddly—and I have not read that anyone else is picking this up—I thought for three days that fig was in this composition and it’s not listed. I smell a sun ripened, Mediterranean sweet fig! And it’s so beautiful I can taste it. Crazy. The drydown has more light resins and cardamon. I don’t smell the nutmeg or the Oud. Throughout all of Oud Bleu Intense’s lifespan, the fig note stays present. After a few hours it fades, except if Oud Bleu Intense is sprayed on clothes. If so, it lasts for a couple of days. One thing I like about this brand is that they sell 15ml of many of their fragrances, so this is already in my online basket. I really want to test more from Fragrance de Bois. This, Oud Noir Intense and Santal Complet are the only scents I’ve personally tried, and I loved them both. Still, I wish Oud Bleu Intense was more affordable. I’d buy the biggest bottle and it would be in heavy rotation. At its current price, it will be a special Summer splurge.

My favorite from Fragrance Du Bois that unfortunately never was in my collection. My signature scent that I never owned. Oud Bleu Intense! I received the sample set from the entire original line a few years back and liked every one of them, but this one... ow this one... this was has always stayed on my mind! By looking at the notes, I would not have guessed that I would adore this one. Many of the notes are resinous and balsemic (olibanum, myrr, labdanum, opoponax, styrax and benzoin). Only two additional notes in the heart and base are amber and oud. Based on these you would expect something totally different. With the dominant topnotes of orange, cardamom and nutmeg. And especially the orange is so amazing. I have hardly ever smelled a fragrance in which the citrus note of the perfume stays noticable for the entire period. It is carried on the creamy fougere layer. The resinous aspect of the fragrance is only slight there in the dry down. It one the most unique fresh fragrances I have smelled. It spicy on one side and sweet on the other. To my nose this is a very complex fragrance, a true masterpiece!

Review: Oud Bleu Intense by Fragrance du Bois Warm and mandarin accents shimmer together with oud in this fragrance. Yes, I can clearly detect the oud — it’s soft and intimate, almost skin-like, which is where its magic truly lies. Despite the name and the official note pyramid, which everyone will interpret differently, the scent itself feels very versatile. At the same time, it is intricately and expertly crafted. I find that spraying just over three times brings out a cozy sillage and impressive longevity. If you own the bottle, it’s worth mentioning the presentation as well — the box for storing the bottle and the packaging itself are both executed with true luxury in mind, reflecting high-end craftsmanship. Overall, Oud Bleu Intense stands out as one of the finer masculine fragrances. In any case, I highly recommend trying it on your own skin, as for me personally, the listed notes and highlighted accords don’t exactly match my own olfactory impression. That’s what makes it truly unique.

I agree with a previous reviewer who detected a hint of mint in the opening. To me it is more than a hint. This one is, as one should expect from this house, full of an array of high quality and well-blended notes. I do not agree this smells anything like many of the shampoos I have tried. These notes are fresher, more clean, so to speak, and have depth. It's got good silage but nothing overwhelming. It has good longevity and it unfolds over time. It can be worn day or night. Seems like a warm weather scent but could be fine in other seasons too. I think there are many on Fragrantica who are not fans of this house, in part because the price points are too high. But focusing on the scent itself I would suggest sampling if you like amber, citrusy, cardamom mixed well to form a satisfying and elegant scent.

There’s something special about the quality of resins used in the building of this formula that makes the wearer feel intellectual, smart, while simultaneously giving off a feeling of freedom, carefree, bohemian beauty. Oud Bleu Intense is like reading a good book of poems , the orange laced in cardamon portrays images of exotic places, like getting lost in the Mediterranean watching a summer sunset while breathing refreshing aromas of growing fig trees by the sea, succumbing by the exoticism of one of nature’s greatest olfactory treasures “oud”. But this is well polished 100% organic agar, the kind that doesn’t shout out loud, instead, it shares the composition with the balsams that for some mysterious reason, deliver an amber/blue scent profile, fascinating.

There are always going to be haters. This line is superb.you wont find a better oud than Sarhaa Oud for instance. People cry about the price but pay hundreds for Aventus which smells like the $40 drugstore versions that are out there. This one is more mainstream however its just as complex as their darker offerings. I dont detect any oud and if its there, it was thrown in for no other reason than to put "oud" in the title. Its very unique for a marine offering and lacks the gross chemical smell that most in that genre suffer from. Full of spice and resin, this somehow comes off as a summer banger

Upon spraying, you are greeted with a burst of orange and nutmeg. However, after about 30mins, this becomes a pleasant skin scent. I literally have to bury my nose in my arm to smell anything. At which point, I’m able to pickup a faint oud scent along with a very mild myrrh. Over the years, I have become less enamored with performance and more focused on the quality of the scent. In fact, I’m generally turned off by “beast mode” fragrances. However, at this price point, I really would prefer something just a tad stronger. Overall, smells great but very faint.

Ever since Aventus ignited my fragrance passion, I've been looking for a fragrance that gave me that "OMG" moment. Well, I think I found it in Oud Bleu Intense. This fragrance is absolutely fantastic!! I'm not an oud lover, so the fact that oud is minimal, if at all, is a plus in my opinion. The dry down is even better than the opening. I find myself smelling my arm over and over again to get that instant satisfaction. This is very pricey, but I highly recommend trying a sample of this. Just amazing stuff!

Incredible, fresh soapy bright clean amber and clean resins. Looking at the notes, you would think deep and rich. But, this is fresh and bright, very clean and smooth. Quality is clearly high. Easy wear, incredible smelling clean "blue"- ish fragrance. A new favorite. UPDATE: this lasts 10 hours on my skin. It's not loud per se, but it hangs around. Also, the drydown is simply amazing on this fragrance. 9/10

Just wanted to pitch in that this is nothing like Thé Noir 29 which is a tea-scent through and through. Oud Blue Intense is a light blue and citrusy scent. I can't really notice any oud, but to me that is not a bad thing. It's a fresh allrounder suitable for all year. But it is not very strong.. So if you are looking for an oud powerhouse look elsewhere.

A fragrance that is perfectly suited as a signature scent. It works year-round thanks to its ideal balance between depth and an impressive freshness. There isn’t much more to say about this fragrance, other than that it is nearly perfect for everyday wear.

I Love this Niche house! Fragrance Du Bois has very great stuff. This one in particular gives me huge compliments, smells amazing, very long lasting. Hits better at night time. Oud Bleu Intense smells sexy, seductive.

An amazing and unique aquatic oud scent! You can literally see the color blue when you smell this fragrance. If you are looking for a high quality summer oud scent, this one could be your grail. Very well done!

Not your typical warm weather freshie. So much depth compared to the run of the mill summer frags. If looking for a cheaper alternative that's very close then get Aoud Intense Bleu from Dua Fragrances.

It was a recommendation from a friend but man it feels polished and quietly confident, a blend of cool spices and refined oud that settles beautifully on the skin. I am glad I have listened to him.

i was given a 15mls decant of this. wearing it for the first time today. its subtle but very beautiful. but its too expensive for me. maybe ill use up my decant and let it be a distant memory

A fragrance that actually smells like I imagine the color blue to smell,and that is achieved by a mix of mostly naturals.Clever blend. Very luxurious and long lasting too.

This is imo perfection in a bottle. Having been an owner of plenty of high end fragrances, this one takes the cake for being the best I've ever owned.

Luxury,elegant and class aquatic scent. Longevity is really insane with this one, easy +12 hours, didnt really expect that.

What a stunning fragrance. I think it is one of the best of the line and definitely underrated.

I don't understand why the accords here are amber-warm spicy. I don't get a single amber or any warm spiciness. What I get mainly is a standard woody-floral with some additional sweeter tones. Started a tad more powdery-musky, starts to turn more soapy as it dries. There might be a tea accord or something among those lines here as well, drydown I agree with gmoney in that there are facets of orange. It's okay as a scent, sillage is zero and for longevity, this didn't even make 6 hours. Testing indoors, so at best you can get moderate sillage with this. Doesn't lean masculine or feminine, clearly for spring & summer. 100ml for €565... that's objectively embarrassing.

This has orange written all over it. Opens up with a realistic orange and the aromatic cardamom added with a little spiciness may be from the nutmeg. Soon the dry and resinous amber and woodsy oud kicks in with some other notes which I can't pin point. The scent remains the same throughout with orange being the prominent note and all other notes complimenting the fragrance perfectly. Smell : excellent, simple and elegant . Classy Blend : all notes are extremely well blended Occassion : casual / office wear Projection : moderate ( won't choke out ) Longevity : good (8+ hours) Worthiness : excellent scent but not worth the price tag Rating :7/10

Beautiful scent. To me, smells a bit of orange and sun tan lotion lightly flowing over smooth wood and green spice. Unique, depthful, clean. Airy and light. Almost too sophisticated for a white tee, but too casual for a suit. I think in one word, Id call it Elegant. I imagine taking my gf out for a nice rooftop lunch date, wearing tailored slacks and a nice white, short sleeved button up while wearing this. In cold weather the Oud and spices are more prominent. The only issue is performance is very moderate and for this price, a shame. Buy with discounters if you can find for $250 or less.

This smells like a more gentle Torino21, with the mandarin instead of lemon in the opening. Probably the combination of the nutmeg & cardamom which greats a bit of a herby hint even tho both of them are spices. But after an hour or two the "amber" become more clear, very subtle but I can find it in the corner of the scent. Having problem finding the "oud" in it. I wouldnt consider this a perfume for a "amber"-connoisseur. Pleasant opening but a bit boring in the drydown, the mandarin kinda steals the show from all the other notes.

I truly do love it. It’s one of my favorite scents for sure! The issue I have is that the performance is low for how much it costs. After just a quick 20 minutes or so it is quite a bit less projecting than I wish it was. If it cost less I think I would be willing to give it a pass. Perhaps in the range of $210-$230 for 100ml. The DISCOUNTED price is typically about double of that, and retail is simply outrageous. If this was priced in that range, it would be an 8/10. At the price it is now, 5.5/10.

A blast of fizzy orange and mint. Transitions to a beeeeautiful amber resinous backbone with a unbalanced nutmeg overload. It dries down very soapy. The projection is not quite up to par and I question its longevity. Perhaps my bottle has to macerate like many of my fragrances did in the past, but here's to just hoping.. Now, it is a like but far from a love. I do however praise its versatility and can be used in any occasion. 7.5/10

Here we go after testing this out for about a week. I would say this is an amazing fragrance. The opening is a mandarin cardamom vibe behind that a subtle oud you might mistake it for cardamom. The real magic happens in the mid to the dry down. It has a subtle floral tone with a a subtle creamy amber this is the best way i can describe it. Expensive, unique and very well blended.

I enjoy this. It opens with a lot of citrus and other notes, but when it dries down it left me wanting more. It's good, but it's only good. It reminds me of Naxos for some reason. I've smelled a lot of fragrances too similar to justify the high price, even if the materials used to make this are a higher quality, which they are. I just wish it didn't leave me wanting more.

This fragrance is so unique! To me it is spicy, freasch and sweet at the same time! It’s like a Journey to wear it which i really enjoy, you can really smell the quality! But, it looses a bit of that sweet freashness in the drydown which for me makes it a tinyyy bit to masculine to wear. Overall an amazing scent, gonna have to try it on my boyfriend!!

This perfume is great for the summer, leans masculine and I think that would shine when in the beach or a very hot summer day. The cardamom is very present from beginning to end, I didn't get any oud, although I'm sure is there somewhere. Very fresh, classy summer masculine scent.

A wedding toast, personified... It is brief as not to outshine the occasion, rich in quality, pleasant to all whom are around to witness and refreshingly sweet. "Oud" "Bleu" "Intense" = No "Soft" "Golden" "Filigree" = Yes Mayor Nicholas Hostetler from Broken City wears this.

Unique? Yes. beautiful? yes. doesn't deserve that price even the high quality. the opening was very long (40min) with spicy cardamom and nutmeg, didn't detect any freshness from the orange. the dry down is smooth and elegant with little sweetness . performance is average.

I’m trying to understand who got the Noir 29 when smelling this. Ive worn the Noir 29 enough to know when I smell it and I did not get that here. This is a niche take on a blue fragrance and made it a little more dressed up. That said i do like this 7.8/10

Incredible fragrance, one of the most amazing Mandarin openings i have ever smelled there is no oud here i just cant detect it this is a summer staple for me going forward, i am grateful and blessed to be able to afford such a luxurious scent. 9/10.

an easy to wear and versatile pleasant scent. the freshness comes from the mints and the uniqueness comes from the mandarin that just works very well. The drydown smells just like lost cherry from TF which is syrupy cherry cocktails.

All I smell is white tea.....save your money and go buy an old bulgari fragrance. Its nice but this house has more to offer⭐️⭐️⭐️

My 5 year old daughter’s review: “You smell like a poopy pineapple.” Kid has a good nose.

Im anosmic to lots of synthetic aromachemicals, but I thought FdB prided themselves on expensive natural ingredients? But maybe that’s just the teeny bit of oud... Anyway, I’m not sure I can smell everything in here, but if I can then it’s much softer than the rest of the oud intense shades I tried. This smells like a faint, medicinal (very slightly menthol) which makes it feel a bit fizzy, citrus and aromatic scent. I get a slight green spice too. But it isn’t strong. What I can smell leans slightly traditionally masculine. Carded sample from FdB direct.

My first impression is that it reminds me of Robert Piguet Fracas. A 'spicier' version of? I pick up those notes that I get from Fracas like a gardina/vanilla just a bit more subtle and amber...other notes I can not identify and when I try to, it get pulled back into thinking Fracas.

A huge feather dipped in a bottle of holy ink and swayed across the room, splashing it in dark blue; this is the opening. Unique and addictive, the nostrils crave the precious essence of oud bleu intense. UNFORTUNATELY, VERY POOR SILLAGE and LONGEVITY. :( I wish it performed better.

Of all the fragrances that I've sampled, I had the highest expectations from this one, especially given the price tag. But with high expectations come big disappointments. It's an arabic scent trying to pass as fresh. The mix between amber and citrus, with oud undertones is such a failed attempt at creating something different. I don't think that I've ever smelled something that's not by any means bad smelling, yet at the same time it's off putting. Hard pass.

Smells like your standard "perfume" in an upscale department store. Surprisingly un-unique compared to the reviews I've watched & read. Well blended though. But you could get this same effect from something like Wulong Cha X for a 3rd of the price. And if Im being honest, Wulong Cha X does the "effortless-upscale-citrus-tea-mixed-with-hotel-spa" thing better, since Wulong Cha X sticks to pure smooth freshness with a little soft creaminess from fig and doesnt try to incorporate resins. The resins give this a sort of spitty, dried saliva note (which some may even interpret as dewy), and make this smell very old fashioned smelling for most of its weartime. Not old fashioned as in outdated, but old fashioned in an antique, classic, vintage (albeit regal) way. Thankfully this musky spittle note does dissipate in the drydown. Dries down to a kind of soft musky vintage bar soap type deal. Smells like something an elderly male-to-female transitioning person might wear. In other words, it is unisex and mature..so there's that. Also, I generally dont care about performance, but this fragrance's intensity seems abnormally weak. Imo, this is a $225 fragrance, max...If I had paid anywhere near the ~$600 retail price for this, I would be livid. 6/10

Not easy to describe this masterpiece but let's begin with the fact that the amber nuances play a significant role in the concoction! This perfume is slightly aromatic, slightly acquatic, citrusy, ambery, sweet and discreetly woody all these qualities arranged to create a multifaceted blend. If you check the note pyramid you 'll understand its intensely resinous character. On the surface you get a bubbly, zesty, sweet lemon feel (sth like a coca cola spark) and a cardamom spicy twist but that's only the gate to the mysterious, balsamic, amber world of Oud Bleu Intense. The sparkly orange invites you to an oriental journey which is long and concentrated. In a whiff I get silmutaneously a smooth citrusy and salty vibe along with a deep, warm, balsamic quality. It feels like walking between two worlds that are parallel but never cross each other, however you are able to go back and forth between them. The projection and longevity on my skin are out of this world. I can still smell it 24 hours after and maybe more. Imagine a precious amber gem found in the depths of a jade-blue sea, this is Oud Bleu Intense for me.

This is for the people who like to smell like shampoo and call it a revolution in perfumery. Oud Blue Intense is essentially an over priced designer fragrance disguised as a high end niche offering. There’s no Oud just loads of body wash and shampoo. But you can’t blame folks for wanting to smell like this. They’re consistently told that men need to smell like body wash and shampoo and that’s what fashionable. Oud Blue Intense is a boring, generic citrusy “blue” offering that smells like a myriad of scented body wash and shampoo products. You’re better off just dousing yourself in one of those hip Old Spice deodorants with name like “alpha blue wolf destroyer” or whatever they’re naming stuff these days and then leave in whatever 3:1 Axe body wash/shampoo/conditioner you bought at Ulta for way too much and save yourself a couple hundred dollars.

Fragrance Du Bois only sells their perfume strictly after a consultation. I was recommended to this, I thought it was a too girly. However, on my body, I brought out the amber, nutmeg and sandalwood really strong. I prefer this perfume over Oud Noir Intense, but over 3hrs later, this perfume gave in to Oud Noir, and Oud Noir started smelling better. Used on my sister, it gave off a very sweet smell but didn't last long on her. This perfume gave in to Oud Jaune on her body. That might not be the same for you. Their perfume is extremely long lasting due to the low alcohol content, very gentle sillage and not overpowering. I have been getting a lot of compliments even from strangers, wanting to know what I am using. For anyone intending to buy their perfumes, please go to their boutiques for a consultation. Definitely good money well spent.

Very much a spicy oriental scent with a slight aquatic nuance in the background. The opening is the most noticeable in regards to being aquatic but soon gets overtaken by the cardamom and nutmeg. The mandarin is very nice too but much of the wonderful top notes are soon a distant memory because of the heavy use of spices. It gets darker/spicier as time goes on and the base of myrrh and amber hardly make this a sporty aquatic type of reach. I see how people fall in love w this one as the opening is both beautiful and unique but it’s cut way too short to what I find to be a rather familiar dry down. It does however reflect its price from the use of high quality natural ingredients. Leans masculine and could be a signature scent. 7 out of 10 w great overall performance.
