Parisian Fragrance du Bois

Oh My!! this is soo underhyped and underrated too compared to the beautiful magnificence this interpretation of Paris really is! There is so much going on in this little elegantly provocative Parisian red lipstick kiss. A beautiful velvet red rose between the teeth of a perhaps Parisian woman seated in a smooth leather armchair wearing a luxurious red matching lipstick, drinking some warm clear slightly sweetened concoction with some cardamom, pink pepper and almond with a twist of grapefruit on top filling smoking the air with its scents in a room with lots of old wooden furniture and perhaps even a warming fireplace in the distance... This scent is so romantic and while it becomes very feminine on my skin it is still a perfectly executed unisex scent suitable really for anyone confident enough to dare to both show their strength and their vulnerability as this demonstrates the perfect harmony between maturity and innocence. It is also a perfect as a description of Paris of today. A place of strong diversity where eastern and western cultures meet and clash. It is beautiful on women but I think and it also seems as this scent is mostly reviewed really as far as I have seen by men as long as you are comfortable with rose scents. And also where the rose is allowed to show itself from its more clear and delicate side. As underneath it still lingers a more mature and thorny sexy version of the rose with an ambery bottom which makes this smooth leathery oud framework it’s perfect Parisian mystery. The oud in this is really soo smooth and comes to its absolute best in this composition. If you do like a smooth oud and you love a really good interpretation of a rose and you are intrigued with the mixture of eastern spicy ness and western urbanism then you cannot be anything but hooked with Parisian. Longevity is excellent. It stays on me until I shower it off. It also stays beautiful throughout the wear. The silage can be what you want it to be. This is a strong perfume it doesn’t say as far s I can see if it’s and extrait or an edp but it is very concentrated and made from very high quality ingredients throughout the composition, (hence its insanely high price...), but nothing has been skimped on here, that’s for sure. So if you spray a hefty amount of this you will be noticed from Paris to New York if you ask me. But you can also make this intimate with a few selected sprays that will create a bubble enough for people to feel you when you pass but still staying close enough not to offend any one. To me this is also a perfume that if you have the wallet for it easily could be a signature scent as it is so exquisite and really works in most any setting. It is elegant and sophisticated and can be worn both in an office setting and attending the Nobel price dinner... But just as easily to coze up by the fire place or stroll down the Champs Élysées on a sunny spring day. In all honesty I think you can even wear this during a hot summer night too. That’s how well composed this Parisian symphony is... I am so glad I accidentally got this in my hand as I got it by mistake when ordering the much more generic and dupable FdB scent Minuit et Demi, but got this scent to me instead... At first I was going to send it back to get the one I had initially ordered, but I then changes my mind and decided to keep it. Today I am so glad I did as I would probably never have chosen this by myself as I normally am a bit hesitant about both oriental and oud based fragrances, not to mention its price. I would never have bought this expensive a perfume myself... But this... Oh my... It is simply divine! ❣️

I think this fragrance is absolutely stunning and a surprise because I usually don’t like the oud/rose combo. I’ve never been a fan of rose, finding it ‘old fashioned’ and often over-bearing and skanky oud isn’t for me either. Past experiences of this combination have been a turn-off, mainly because I find them too strong or too sweet but this gem is different. It takes that well worn path and brings into a defined focus, with HD resolution. This fragrance is airy and although the rose is clearly there, the other florals add a softness and delicate sweetness. The oud, although a little medicinal at first, is never skanky or strong and sits underneath, bringing the composition together. The other elements all have their place too but none of them totally dominate. The touch of citrus in the top, a slight leather and the smoky incense all combine to make one classy and rich smelling fragrance. Again, incense isn’t usually for me although here it gives a light-touch smokiness that is reminiscent of the incense used in Santo Incienso. In fact, there are several similarities in these fragrances even if they don’t smell exactly the same. The labdanum, amber and musk finish this off with a beautiful warm base so that it never feels harsh or over-bearing. Here’s a fragrance that although has good longevity doesn’t need to shout its presence, sitting closer to the skin which actually makes it even more sophisticated. An event fragrance for special occasions and pure class in a bottle. This and Oud Noir are my favourites from this house. The presentation is outstanding and it feels like luxury in every way. This fragrance smells natural and it’s clear that quality ingredients are used although this comes at a high price for sure but cost aside, I absolutely adore this beauty and it’s the one I reach for when I want something extra special.

Imagine the most beautiful natural oud distilled from the Cambodian border region, wrapped in a veil of sacred smoke. Parisian Oud displays a beautiful duality between frankincense paired with the combination of two species of ouds , aquilaria Crassna and Malaccensis. I see it as a fusion that unifies east meets west , there’s a certain middle eastern mysticism about Parisian Oud intertwined with french style elegance, clearly noticeable in the evolution of the fragrance, with the reflective smoky frankincense shadows that read on skin semi metallic paired to the cold spicy quality of cardamom and the freshness of geranium that compliments the dry rosy aroma, resting on a contrasting base of resins, giving the impression as if the five years aged cambodi oud was encapsulated in a labdanum driven amber accord. Parisian Oud can be summarized as an olfactory shooting star reflection, suspended in the skies between the Iconic Eiffel Tower and the golden desert crossing the arabian peninsula.

I am glad to have had the opportunity to test this Parisian Oud. As the reviewer hereunder said, this rose oud combo leans heavily on the Arabian combo style as both rose and oud play dominantly, taking the scene with power and natural beauty without putting you off and without the "I have already smelled this before" thought. It might also be relevant to the other ingredients that hardly do take the scene or let you feel their presence somehow (at leas according to my nose). It is opulent, but it's not screaming "smell me" as major perfumes containing this combo do. Longevity is more than good, but it stays close to your skin and reveals its presence in an elegant way. Price is really a problem, considering this comes in 100 ml only- 695€ in Europe.. too bad, as all the other fragrances from this house are available also in 15 and 50 ml, making it more affordable for most of the people

I'm unable to decipher the fragrance, so all I can say is this; this fragrance is absolutely gorgeous, it is such a comforting scent. It is not your usual Rose Oud fragrance, it is extremely elegant, and is very well blended and soft, but too soft to the extent that I want more, it's that nice, but it's such a delicate scent, I just wish it was louder. I am unsure if it had more projection if it would damage its sensuality? All I can say is that it's a love, but my nose is either broken or the projection and longevity of this is abysmal, specially considering it's steep price point, but I don't care, it makes me smile and that's all that matters to me from a scent :) May you all enjoy and God bless :)

WOOW wow wow , absolutely fantastic scent, I really love this one, and it's the only one I adore from Fragrace du Bois. This house is the waaay most over priced I have ever encountered, I tried on some 6-7 of their scents and disliked all but Parisian. I have never been more disappointed with high-end perfumes than with FduBois and I know for sure I will never ever buy a whole bottle from them, except this Parisian which i find stunning. Higly recommended evening perfume for all social events.

lovely scent. the performance is pretty poor though. get a decant and call it a day. this is one of the best. the entire line seems lazy. they just create a generic scent of every kind then layer it with their farm grown oud. orange oud. green oud. etc. Parisian is actually a new scent profile. I would have purchased if it lasted even a couple hours more. we are talking poor performance that is insulting at this price point.

I really love this fragrance, it’s the best fragrance du bois I’ve sampled this far. Honestly to my nose the fresh spicy and citrus accords really stand out and it makes this fragrance useful all year round! It smells very versatile, obviously very upscale and rich, but you can easily pull this off dressed casually; but you have to still appear fresh and clean! If you like Halfeti, i believe you’ll love this

Extremely lovely, and the way I like to wear Oud, sitting quietly in the background. I immediately picked up a beautiful cardamon pairing with citrus, on top of a bed of lush roses. Oud is here, and it’s the ingredient that’s giving the composition a strong base. As expected, a strong performer. I’m not a multimillionaire so a bottle is out of reach. But I really love it.

Incredibly opulent and a beautiful spring wear. Don't bother with this in the winter. I think people see rose and oud and think it's automatically suited for cold weather. Nope. This performs poorly without a little warmth to express it properly. This is a beautiful, beautiful wearing experience; a gentle rose and oud with a real sense of class. Perfectly unisex.

Wow first day wearing and I’m loving it. Not sure what others say about low performance but it was a solid performer for me the whole day. Had a few people mention how good I smelled. This is in the ballpark with Roja pdln 3 to my nose, not that similar but same vibes for me. More thoughts to come...

Sophisticated, mature and elegant. This is blending magic - similar in quality to Sahraa, Diaghilev and Iso Blu etc. Very versatile and creates a nice scent bubble; doesn’t project much and is all about restraint elegance. Great longevity. Unisex. Shukran Habibi!

This is a true masterpiece. Out of all my frags, this is no one. Taste is very personal but this is truly something out of the ordinary. The incense (that I don’t usually like) is just smooth and amazing. The oud is none-offensive and beautiful. 12/10!

The old name is oud Layla.. they change name for comercial became Parisian in 2016. Original Layla was created somewhere in 2012 or 2013 . Ive got batch 2013 of these gems. 💕

A wonderful modern Oud fragrance. Citruses, Oud, Roses, Sandalwood and incense. One of my favourites. ★★★★☆

A sophisticated and Western appealing Floriental chypre, this is somewhat inappropriately named because there is a just little Oud in the heart of this perfume. The perfume opens with notes of grapefruit, cardamom, pepper and almond. It moves to a heart comprised of jasmine, rose (very pronounced), geranium, Oud and slight leather. It finally settles into a powdery base of amber, labdanum, oakmoss, sandalwood, incense, musk and patchouli. Unfortunately not particularly original or really distinguishable from most Rose Ouds in the market to justify the huge price tag it comes associated with. The blending is good, and the perfume has moderate sillage and projection and only moderate longevity. Recommended only if you are an FDB completist or have $720 to spend on a whim. Enjoy!

Roses, grapefruit, cardamom, oakmoss, patchouli, amber, and oud. The dominant is the red roses definitely with doses of cardamom, and and citrus. The amber and the patchouli are there but quite on the background. It's kind of more oriental, and Arabian than an European or Parisian oud type because of the spices and the type of oud used! If they added vanilla, and some other sweet notes it would have gone European. Quite impressive. Edit (1 hour in) It goes quite velvety with citrus and woods when it settles. Edit (16th Dec 2017) This fragrance only comes in 100ml and it's in a limited patch because of the rarity of their ingredients.

Sophisticated modern Oriental chypre composition showcasing some real Oud. The perfume opens with aromatic notes of cardamom, grapefruit, pepper and almond. The heart is mostly Oud, with rose, geranium and jasmine. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of synthetic musk and oakmoss with hints of labdanum, sandalwood and incense. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity and represents the chic flair of the city it’s named after. Not for Oud purists, this is more of a classy airy and decidedly Western interpretation of the note. Enjoy!

My thoughts based on it's older version Oud Layla: I have no idea if it's my nose that's playing tricks on me but it has a very gourmand choco-truffle smell that can be found throughout the entire scent, but aside from that it is a very sophisticated scent with just enough animalic-ness for it to not be overly unbearable (mainly for the sake of other people lol). Aside from that I genuinelly can't really pick out any notes, even the oud maybe due to age? Way too many factores but overall its great
