Secret Tryst Extrait de Parfum

Update after ~1month with Outlands and longer with ST. Reminiscent, not redundant. You can, if looking for it, find the similarity in construction - BY A LOT, Secret Tryst is the more wearable and elegant but, honestly, Outlands in the air is not as aggressive - the latter calls for commitment while Secret Tryst would even go well in any evening occasion. I have both and will keep both. I will wear them separately/to their specific occasions and, even in a small collection like mine, they are not necessarily redundant. In scent, Secret Tryst is a comfortable slightly spicy soft rose "darker" fragrance. There is a slight bit of maturity required to appreciate the scent, not super recommendable blind buy, but fragrances in the ball park of Noir Extreme and Jubilation 25 could lead you to enjoy ST (both probably more challenging, but the brands are likely paths to FDB is what I mean). It's very comfortable, wears great for 7h or so and will linger on skin for a few more hours, but the magic is achieving that with a moderate-soft projection. Very beautiful and even airy for a night appropriate frag. @aborsa so far, doing a service to many. Once Outlands began settling down post-opening, I immediately went to my closet to spray Secret Tryst on. There is a resemblance as it dries down but again, density and performance on the FDB are much more respectful/elegant than in the Amouage - which, in the 5h I've been testing them side by side has NOT STOPPED PROJECTING. When I smelled Secret Tryst I was like, "Whoah, I was not expecting it to smell like this," but I loved it. A warm, vanillic, smoky, spicy fragrance. The vanilla in here is unique (or maybe the other notes make this vanilla unique) as it is not a standard vanilla or cupcake vanilla, but something that is darker but not dirty or animalic... it's almost like a masculine type of vanilla. There is a smokiness in here, I believe from the frankincense. My nose detects something that smells like ginger, but there is not an actual ginger note in this fragrance. My only gripe is that this fragrance doesn't last long, so for it to be categorized as an extrait de parfum, I would have expected more. It has moderate projection but goes to a skin scent in about four hours. I still love this fragrance though, and when I smell it, I feel like it gives me a boost of oxytocin. It is often my go to fragrance when I go out. It is unisex leaning masculine, and I like the idea of sharing fragrances with a significant other as this is how Cavort and Secret Tryst were marketed. I rate this 8.5/10 due to the performance issue, but otherwise it is a unique fragrance I love having in my collection.

I am going to section this review out into a few different examples of how I see this fragrance to offer a multi-faceted perspective on such a beautiful and classy perfume. Example 1 - What it smells like to me: - TOP: Blast of olibanum, a little tangy bergamot, and a heavy dose of sweet saffron with a leathery facet that becomes apparent about 30 seconds into this fragrance's life. - MIDDLE: I get a slight woody scent, with rose and jasmine making an appearance. The rose here is quite jammy, combining with the jasmine to make a really enjoyable sweet/floral middle. - BASE: In the base I get a resinous facet that's paired very nicely with a touch of vanilla and patchouli. The labdanum is present throughout the end of the middle and the base. There is an animalic touch that adds complexity as well. Example 2 - A song that embodies what this smells like: - Hurt You by The Weeknd Example 3 - A real life description of the scent: - Imagine having sex in an incredibly lavish room in a middle-eastern castle. @Bestamigo - You are delusional. Iommi was revealed around the 25th of November 2021, Secret Tryst was around the 9th of December 2021. So FDB took Iommi, and had the scent, the name, the bottling and the rest of it ready in 2 weeks? You can keep that commentary to yourself. Subsequently to posting this, I actually got a bottle. So I edit this in mid-July 2023. Secret Tryst is a fruity, soft-warm spicy fragrance. It is line with product like Amouage's "Jubilation XXV", as there is sweetness and some mild powderiness in the scent profile. I'd say unisex, but if it leaned in a direction, it would be masculine. Sillage may seem strong for 30 minutes but that's it - mostly intimate-to-moderate; it is mostly a skin scent after the 1st hour and the longevity on this is around 6 hours, since after hour 4 it's already pretty faint. Value... yeah, it's bad. Most of these FDBs just don't perform at all - either they last little or project little, and that does not align with the price they are charging. But I do like the scent a lot (rating 9/10). I ended up buying a bottle with a 15% code I got from the brand, so €285 for 100ml.

A tryst is a private meeting between two lovers, secretive and scandalous which is conveyed perfectly in this fragrance. Secret Tryst is the epitome of high class and romantic sensuality, exquisitely crafted and perfect for date nights between couples, or to attract those around you. A must have fragrance in my opinion.
