Solstis

This is my favourite of the new releases. I have 6 from the earlier collections (Oud Bleu, Vert, Nor, Orange, Milano and Santal Complet) This fills a niche in my collection of 40 + nice fragrances because it has the combination of freshness and complexity/depth that is normally associated with Creed Aventus, but is superior to Aventus in terms of performance and equal in class, but also better than Aventus killers like Roja Elysium and Nishane Hacivat. It opens with an uplifting crispness from the mandarine and apple and then transitions seamlessly through florals to a creamy base without ever losing its sparkling freshness. While Hacivat is fine, but monotonic like most Nishane fragrances (ie they do not change on your skin) and Elysium is lovely but has an unpleasant sharp note that reminds me of a British breakfast with black pepper ( I can't get around the fact that I smell like food when I wear it), Solstis is clean, bright, uplifting, deep, interesting always and I can see why people have compared it to Aventus and Demi Rawling says it is her favourite of the new releases. It is also my favourite which is why I bought it after trying it once on my wrist.

I’m trying to find the words to describe this , it’s bright and fuzzy but doesn’t lack depth .. the apple which is one of my least favorite notes in perfumery , here it doesn’t bother me and is just crispy and realistic with the mandarin orange & bergamot combination as it flows you get the spices just lightly and the back but enough to have presence if that makes any sense . It seems to be a freshie but it is not , you can pull this all seasons with a controlled trigger ... I see YSL L’homme as a reference !! Ok so yes and no , YES because of the woody mass appealing DNA Ig and it really does have that beautiful structure of ysl but NO because this is just so damn well blended and the ingredients differ a lot vs the synthetic mess (YSL) .. L’Homme smells of alcohol, this smells like luxury and Class ... I’m giving it a 8 out of 10 it’s not that original but smells freaking fantastic .. Full Bottle on the way home... Solstis by Fragrance Du Bois is, to me, a standout creation. It works effortlessly in both summer and early fall. It opens with a bright flash of citrus — mandarin and bergamot — lifted by a crisp apple note and just enough pepper to give it bite. After about 20 minutes, the spice warms up: nutmeg, neroli, and cardamom become more noticeable while that peppery edge lingers. As it settles, the fragrance melts into a refined base of sandalwood, vetiver, and vanilla. On my skin, Solstis lasted around eight hours, though performance will vary. It projected a solid two‐foot bubble for the first hour and a half before softening into a close, inviting skin scent. The scent begins bright and sweet, then transitions into a smooth sandalwood‐vanilla dry‐down that handles Texas heat beautifully. It never turns heavy, cloying, or overwhelming. For me, Solstis is absolutely signature‐scent material — and I’ll be adding a full bottle to my collection soon.

Yes, it does start off with apple and lots of citruses, but its drydown is very very powdery. It smells like violets or some sort of powder. Very crisp, clean, refreshing, almost a bitter tea like note present, great for warm weather wear. However with this said, it dries down very very violet powdery. Keep that in mind. Great longevity even for a citrus, unlike most of FDB's earlier offerings. I like it and would recommend it if you don't have a bright green citrus in your arsenal, but it shows zero innovation and clearly has been done plenty of times before. Reminds me of Nishane's Wulong Cha, but with an added nice powdery dry down. There is nothing too distinctive of this fragrance from other clean citrus fragrances, but it is a very nice one.

just like Lafayette street and meny more, this is a rich take on a classic blend, is it over priced? Yes...and no ... It all depends on what you like and how well your nose can differ from high Quality and aroma chemical heavy cheap perfumes, im a sucker for ambroxan and when paired with high Quality ingridients it really tickels my fancy. The haters would say it smells cheap etc etc.. but thats not att all true, there is no uneven edges or funky smelling notes here, its just high class and you smell like a boss. Appel fresh ambroxan and spicy citrus... Its a love for me.. in the air its a fresh Appel pie, wonderfull subtle vanilla Appel mix, warm and cold...sweet modern ambroxan made posh 9/10, can even be a 10 in the summer

The opening of this fragrance is one of the best I have ever smelled (and we are talking hundreds of perfumes here). Fresh fruit, apple, citrus, pretty, interesting, not overly sweet. Unfortunately the heavenly smell disappears in a couple of minutes (and it's only minutes). What is left is a slightly masculine leaning, nice scent, which is not bad at all, but it is a tease for sure. I have not made up my mind on Solstis yet. The price point is definitely an issue, I have a sample only and it is not the strongest of fragrances so after only 2 tries it's almost gone. If you are after a generic sweet female scent, this is not that. But very nice regardless. I will write an update once I made up my mind how to avoid the FB.

This is a very nice, high quality, well blended fragrance that sits in the same area as something like PdM Galloway or Sedly, etc. It is of a higher calibre than those two, and kinda has similar notes and vibe in there. It is extremely bright, happy and blue, the name is very apt, and describes the fragrance pretty much in that single word. Extremely versatile, can be worn anytime, any place, but more of a fresh blue summer style fragrance, leaning more masculine but I don’t put a gender on frags as always, just more of a masculine leaning smell, old skool wise :)

Sheesh... over a decade into collecting and it’s rare I come across something that doesn’t remind me of something else. Solstis is new to me — and that alone is exciting. But what really got me is how instantly it clicked. First thought: “this is me.” It just fits. Puts a smile on my face every time I catch it. It’s this spicy, ambery citrus with a deep bite — kind of like Lucius — but flipped into something way more carefree, bright, and fun. I’m sure others can paint a more poetic picture of it... All I know is this one’s mine. And it’s seriously impressive.

If you like Meteore, you'll like this one. Nothing special going on here, but it just has to work for you. This one has a better blend IMO, the opening starts with a crunchy apple and freshly cut grass (not like in pure green fragrances though that just smell like grass). The dry down is almost identical to Meteore, reminding me of soft and clean pillows/laundry. Projects moderately and lasts about 7hrs I'd say (only wore it once). 8/10 frag!

This is a really great fragrance. Got a decant as this is my 1st time trying something from FDB. Opening to dry down is citrus and fresh. Definitely a unique smelling but great cologne for the spring / summer. Can be a loungin scent and even a date night. I’m impressed. Searching in between the cushions for loose change to grab a bottle.

Solstis smells like childhood. A time machine that transports you to sunny springs, when the warm wind blows and the morning dew wets your feet, a torrential summer rain followed by a majestic sunset. What a fantastic fragrance. An experience. Childhood in a bottle...

This is a love for me... I don't see how anyone could dislike this gem. Leans more masculine in the dry-down. Great performance and longevity. Don't sleep on this one!

Definitely reminds me Oceania! But lighter and less spicy. Very well made juice in a beautiful bottle.

Smells like a creamier and soapier Meteore. Good performer too.

Loved it for a few days as a sample, can’t afford more

This is 95% Meteore, very difficult to find differences in the dry down. Solstis opens with some fruity, sweet citruses, but quickly the fresh spicy middle notes and the musks take the lead to give the overall feeling of a tingly, soapy white fragrance. I’d say this one changes more from opening to dry down compared to Meteore, but Meteore lasts and projects more. This is very slightly more sweet too. Some people compare this to Oceania, I have both, both are what I classify as a “white” fragrance( A lot of noche houses are doing their iteration of this genre, looks like everyone want to have their own silver mountain water) Overall, oceania focuses on the creamy florals, while solstis is more tingly, focused on the fresh spicy heart. Oceania is sweeter and has better performance. I like this scent but as some comments mentioned, it has nothing special compared to cheaper fragrances, not even the performance. Is a like, but not a love

Nice, high quality freshie. Citrusy, fruity on top, with subtle spices and woods. Not groundbreaking or special, aside from the very good blending and high end ingredients. As someone else said, if you like fresh light blue fragrances but do not like the highly synthetic and typically cheap smelling "mall" aspects, and you can appreciate high end materials, you will like this alot. It's not only fresh citruses here. The pink pepper is smooth but present, the cardamom is subtle but provides depth, and the neroli does offer the typical soapy floral vibe. Very high quality blue-style fresh frag with subtle nuance and a base that offers legs. 8/10

Crisp, fresh, citrusy, somewhat soapy. Very easy to like and wear. Perfect for hot weather (I wore it once on a winter day and it made me feel cold, so for summer this would be just right). More of a day scent but still very versatile. If you love everything that FDB puts out and don't mind spending the money, this is totally worth it because it's a little different than your typical freshies (although now and then I would get some Nio-ish vibes) 8/10 for me

I tried it in a store the other day, it smells divinely... citrusy, but not your basic citrus perfume, it has this spicy body, perfectly blended with the creaminess of the sandalwood. My only problem is with its longevity, after 2 hours, I couldn't smell anything...gone. Completely. Maybe they'll release a "privee" or "absolu" version or something... But for now, I wouldn't want to spend close to 300 euros on something that lasts for 1 hour.

Decent fresh, spicy fragrance for the warmer months. Opening is citrusy/fruity dries down to a spicy, green/fruity, slightly powdery, sandalwood fragrance. Quality and longevity very good. I like it but I don't love it. It's way to expensive for what it brings to the table : fresh, unisex, warm weather scent and similar dna to other designer releases.

It's a kinda fresh warm spicy scent. To me this is more of a fall/winter than a spring/summer scent to me. I tried this during the summer and with how fragrance projects off my skin it started to give me a massive headache. The dry down to me is where this scent fails. In the end it start to smell old and stale

It could be my mind playing tricks on me but this smells like the classic Old Spice but more refined. Which is not a bad thing I still think its a good scent just not 250 dollars good.

It’s not bad at all but I feel like there are better fresh summer scents that can last longer and project for longer as well. This became a skin scent after about an hour for me.

A burst of spicy, peppery citrics (needs more apple), a touch of vanilla and real live woodland. Not bad.

I really enjoyed the opening, a well-blended fresh citrus - clean and creamy and slightly floral. I was thinking I might need a bottle. Literally minutes later I felt like I’d been taken for a fool, as the top notes entirely disappeared and what’s left is indistinguishable from typical masculine designer scents - just an overbearing ambroxan bomb with shower gel notes. I’m wishing I wore EdenFalls today instead. Even those similar designer scents feel like a rip-off when you can go on a discounter’s site and get better stuff for a quarter their price (I’m thinking of Laliques, Boucherons, Mauboussins et al. for my taste, or Middle Eastern brands for more synthetic scents like this). This one, at four times the designer’s price, feels like a bit of a prank, but hey it’s up to the market to decide. I’m sure some guys like something familiar with added bragging rights.

Testing blind and unaware, this opened with a wash of fresh cut grass while drinking a gin and tonic, but the lawn was very small, and dried quickly, leaving me more with a green leaning aromatic with some earthy tones. It gets a bit warmer and some wood tones come up from underneath, but it's reduced down to a skin scent and everything I enjoyed in the opening is gone. Looking at the notes now, the apple is slight and tart, but appears to be the lead note if there was one. You could argue most of the notes are in there, just slightly, but it is mostly power of suggestion. It's surprisingly generic aromatic: a hint spicy, nice, and not exciting. This makes the price point difficult to get on board with. I'm sure there's more out there for less.

Solstice by Fragrance du Bois doesn't break new ground in the fragrance world. It's got a definite masculine tilt, with a citrusy, clean, and fresh profile. Now, don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a freshie like this to have incredible longevity, but for the price tag, I was hoping for a bit more. The opening is all about that zesty citrus with a hint of something herbal, creating a crisp and clean vibe. However, as it dries down, it takes a bit of a musty turn. Perhaps it's the vetiver playing its part. While it may not be the most unique scent out there, if you're into clean and fresh fragrances with a touch of masculinity, Solstice might be worth a try.

Excellent elevated twist on CK One / Chrome with higher quality materials and most of the musk and metallic aspects masked/replaced by a woody creamy soft vanilla base. I'm rating it as OK because the performance is abysmal, quickly turns to an aura and then to a skin scent within an hour. No trail left either. Gets compliments, but only by your significant other, nobody else will be smelling it. Puzzling because FDB has some scents that are borderline obnoxious performance-wise. For the price point, you're better off with Meteore. It's got significant differences but it's in the family and performs way way better. I'll be waiting for the Solstis flanker.

One word: disappointing. Had big hopes with this one considering all the reviews but this doesn't smell like a FDB scent. This smells like a regular designer scent. Lacks creativity. I really wanted to like this one as i wanted something good for the summer but this is not it. The apple in the opening give Eros vibes and as it dries down it becomes even more boring. Don't believe everything what frag reviewers say for this one and give this a try yourself before considering a full bottle.

I completely agree with @lanidon who commented below, this fragrance is so meh. I don't think anyone who smells this would imagine that it's a $385 fragrance. It's an ok scent, leans masculine. My biggest issue with it is its longevity, it lasted about 4-5 hours on my skin with almost no projection, how can a brand charge almost $400 for a an unoriginal perfume with no performance? I do not recommend buying or even sampling, because even the sample is expensive. Just save your money.

I acquired a few decants of FDB fragrances to try out an Solstis was one of them. While a totally unisex fragrance I would say this one leans slightly masculine leaning. I’ve enjoyed trying this fragrance but it’s not my favourite summer smelly I’ve tried others that I prefer and the price tag is also up there. The citrus lingers and it is ever so slightly cologney to my nose hence the masculine lean I think it has.

Very citrus forward in the open. Too much for my liking. But the dry down with sandalwood and vanilla is delicious. I get the floral soapy vibe someone else mentioned. This scent profile is feminine leaning and not for me, but I continue to be very impressed with the quality of this house.

It feels just really unoriginal. My brain turned off to it within five minutes of wearing it and I had to remind myself I was sampling it. You could've told me this was something you got sprayed with walking by a mall kiosk and I'd believe you

I just tried this ...it is a nice clean scent. I would wear it but not to make a statement. It leans a little more masculine to my nose. A man might wear this and turn heads but on me I'd wear it during the day to run errands

Take LV Météore, amp up the woods, add a touch of vanilla, and you’ve basically got Solstis.

Ordered a 2mL decant. Leans masculine...fresh, citrusy. Dry down reduces citrus, but is powdery with a strong bitter note. Nothing “special”. Garden variety masculine leaning fragrance. Overpriced for what it is,. A disappointment from this house.

I actually really enjoy Solstis and get a Roja Dove feel from it (and I can now see others have compared it to Oceania) Top notes are balanced between apple, bergamot, orange and pink pepper, with the more aggressive citruses and pink pepper dominating with a touch of progressive bitterness. Fruity, spicy with neroli playing an anchor role, the dry-down is a powdery & pleasant citrusy, woody vanilla vetiver. Solstis smells quite rich, longevity is fine and to me is very balanced between masculine and feminine. Where I think it suffers is that it’s awkwardly positioned, scent-wise: it’s not really suitable for the high heat of summer, nor the depths of winter, but rather those in-between seasons where it’s not too hot but not too cold. It doesn’t have a strong 'identity' (for want of a better word), but it smells lovely. Extra marks for presentation.

It smells a lot like "bubble bath" by Maison Margiela. This definitely smells better and more put together though. I daily bubble bath at the moment so i'm also just a big fan of clean, citrusy and lavender smelling scents in general. I Most likely will upgrade from a sample to full bottle for this upcoming summer to possibly replace bubble bath for the days I need more longevity and a slightly better composition as well. (8.5/10) For reference I would give bubble bath a low 7/10 because sometimes it comes off screechy until it settles nicely. Solstis smells like an already dried down bubble bath but better like i said. This is also definitely unisex. It does not lean masculine in my opinion at all. Solstis is a nice clean and simple scent that I can see literally anyone wearing.

Solstis celebrates the love story between the summer and winter solstices. The firstone,symbol of the light that triumphs over darkness, the second one, of the cycle of life, of rebirth. And how can we celebrate light if not with luminous notes that generate well-being? The citrus fruits, which accompany a juicy green apple with a pinch of pepper, are very balanced and inviting, the spices and woods give a soft and creamy, very pleasant evolution. A really well balanced fragrance, but on the other hand I had no doubts with this brand which always creates noteworthy fragrances. For me, very suitable for the cooler seasons, to be worn with great elegance. “Midsummer Eve” painted by Hughes.

A beautiful and well rounded creation, a bit like london spice in that it appears very fresh but it also has a warm and spicey dry down, everything is in perfect harmony and the perfumer has blended this well, there is nothing jarring from start to finish and I can see this being worn anytime of the year and any occasion, the stand out notes for me are mandarin/apple , pepper and vetiver ...rounded out with a lick of vanilla and sandlwood to offer a touch of smoothness. Performs well on me , good projection and about 6-7 hours on skin, I sometimes get slight lemon meringue vibes up close.

I’m not sure where people are getting YSL L’Homme from in their experience with this. I would say this is rather earthy and very green. I think the name Solstis is a perfect fit for it. It’s worth sampling, but not worth the price tag IMO. This house does continue to impress me with their quality though.

No no no, - at least not for me. On my skin this starts bitter, herbal, dirty and earthy... a messy nightmare. After a while it becomes totally different... sweeter, in a balsamic way which reminds me of some niche perfumes I have tried before, just don't know which ones...... still, not my cup of tea.

This doesn’t smell like Meteore, Silver Mountain Water or Chrome. This is more metallic and less sweet. I can see the comparisons to CK One, maybe a bit more elevated. Better than regular CK One is CK One Essence, which smells better than this imo. Idk, I didn’t like it.

If you like LV Météore you will enjoy this! By the price I assume Fragrance du Bois is not a clone house, and I am not very familiar with them, but this is definitely high quality! It just smells exactly like Météore.

Is is just me or does bare a similar resemblece to “Beach Hut Man” (Amouage)?
