Barakkat Gentle Gold

I like it now. From the first spray it was soooooo subtle and weak that I could hardly smell anything at all. I attributed that to the shipping as it has happened with many of my blind buy online orders, especially middle eastern But as time passed (weeks) it was still a barely there scent. I took it off my shelf and put it back in the box disappointed with intent to sell it I listed it for sale and it has been sitting in the closet I go to make a video about my blind but fails that I’m trying to sell or may gift and I open and spray it and realize things I couldn’t before. I don’t know if it’s maceration or my nose becoming more refined. As with many perfumes, you have to be in a mood. Women’s hormonal changes all month long affect what we crave. Sometimes i want super sickly sweet, sometimes clean florals, sometimes deep and complex. But sometimes i want something clean, subtle, elegant. And that’s what this is. It’s subtle, simple, elegant. Nothing flashy, nothing loud, not sweet, not spicy, not anything really. It’s hard to explain. It’s like a non perfume perfume. It’s a little bit like the deep dry down of Guerlain a l’instant. Just this sort of soft spice soft grainy slightly sweet perfumy scent that’s gentle and inoffensive. I never thought I’d be writing this. I took it down from my Mercari and am keeping it.

It's a very straightforward fragrance but uses its few notes to turn a powerhouse. It's a strong vanilla, powder, spicy and musky fragrance. It definitely proves less is more and comes across as a nicer and gentler version of Lattafa's Khamrah. If you enjoy that DNA but find Khamrah too loud, this is the one for you. This is a strong performer and a great value. It's unisex and best suited for younger users. Gourmand lovers who already have vanilla based originals or clones in their collection may find this is redundant. It really comes down to how much you enjoy the vanilla musk combination. I feel it's very enjoyable and a nice change of pace. Recommended.

First Impressions: How is it that, amidst this wave of Arabic fragrances, nobody talks about this perfume??? Sophisticated, subtle, and cozy. I haven’t tried the original to compare, but I really like this one. At first, you get a sweetness from vanilla mixed with a warm hint of amber, creating a very comforting feeling. Then, the spicy and aromatic notes of nutmeg and coriander add more character. The vanilla here doesn’t give me a dessert-like, gourmand sensation. Instead, it’s a more refined sweetness. The woody notes are quite present, though subtle, which makes it more balanced and sophisticated, and the juniper adds an aromatic profile that “cuts” a bit through the sweetness. It works well for both day and night. I can’t comment yet on longevity and projection as I just received it. Overall, it’s a very elegant perfume that’s off the radar. You definitely won’t run into anyone else wearing the same scent in the same place. It reminds me of Chloe Nomade (not that they smell alike, but the style of this perfume brings the Nomade profile to mind). To me, it’s a more feminine fragrance, although it could be shared. Absolutely beautiful perfume!

Got this one as a gift for someone, thought I'd give it a short review as there's not much info about it. To put it simple this is a beautiful scent for grown up ladies, anyone could wear it but I do picture this type of scent on someone who's elegant and mature, slightly playful. This starts out with a heavy dose of musk, vanilla and some coriander almost like licorice, it's boozy to my nose but not overbearing, the dry down is where this fragrance shines, it develops and transitions beautiful from that boozy musky vanilla to a nicely rounded sweet, ambery mellow vanilla, the performance has been alright, I'd say 6-8 hours give or take, it's fairly inexpensive so don't feel afraid to overspray if you feel like you need to, sillage is moderate and becomes closer to the skin the more it dries down but you can still get whiffs here and there. Also, simply because I've smelled it before on someone else plenty of times, this does reminds me a lot of the intense cafe from Montale, however, personally I prefer this because it's not overloaded with the floral notes intense cafe has, they both share some similarities.

I recently got this and haven’t given it a full wear test yet but I’ve tried it in my hand. I kept sniffing and sniffing and really like it. I know it’ll take a bit for it to strengthen so I’ll let it sit for awhile if I find longevity to be an issue. I also realized it would smell amazing with the Honey CocoShea line from BBW so I put the lotion on my hands and sprayed with this and oh my word, it was heavenly. Can’t wait to wear this for a full test. Will update when I get some more data. Scent though, 10/10! Update 4/12/25: So set this on the shelf and waited to see if the longevity would improve since, while I enjoyed the scent, I found it disappeared quickly. I stand by my statement that it smells marvelous with the Honey Shea lotion from BBW but after having this sit for several months, whoa nelly is it better now! It lasts on the skin and forever on clothes so I’m really quite happy with this. Maria Collett from YouTube is who initially recommended it and I find she rarely steers me wrong. Get it, you won’t regret it.

Maria Callas on YouTube RAVES about Barakkat Gentle Gold so often that I had to try it. It was even in her top five for life, and she's tried so many. Gotta say that I truly get the hype. This has been one of the most complimented fragrances that I've ever had. It's a rich, spicy almost spiced vanilla candle kind of vibe, but it wears so beautifully, and it both projects and lasts so long that it's astounding to me how inexpensive this one is!! I have actually had people compliment this fragrance and immediately put an order in on Amazon to get their own bottle! I felt like such an influencer, lol!! I love this one so much. Great addition to any collection in my strong opinion!

Warm woody vanilla, cosy but sophisticated. As far as I can tell, this is extremely similar to mfk, but a fraction of the cost. It opens with vanilla and woods, with the juniper berries cutting through. As it settles, the vanilla becomes more prominent, and there’s a hint of something that smells similar to rose (even though there’s no rose listed for this), which is where I think the comparisons to roses vanille and rose gourmand are coming in. It’s very subtle though. It’s sweet but not overpowering or sickly, the woods and spices keep it nice and grounded, and firmly unisex in my opinion. Really really nice.

This to my nose is 99% similar to MFK GFG, except that the ingredients do smell cheaper in comparison. That said, still an amazing scent for the price, and last just as long as GFG. If I had to talk about it independent of how good a clone it is, I'd say this is an easy-reach non-gourmand vanilla that is strong enough that you will be noticed, but it is still very subtle and powdery. I wear this as my gym scent. People say this is more appropriate for the winter/fall, but honestly I'd rock this in the summer too. It's a love for me, and because of the price I'm not overthinking when and where I wear it.

Was a little apprehensive at first when I saw the top notes here are freshy spicy and aromatics, but when I finally got a bottle and sprayed it on my sleeve, it's an amber, vanilla spice bomb. I thought it was pepper, but I guess this must be the nutmeg on top and then just a warm, vanilla amber on the dry down. It's so cozy; definitely a holiday, sweater weather scent. I can't wait to wear this all Christmas. I've never smelled MFK's GFG, but for $18, this is a no brainer. I don't care if it smells nothing like the original, this is good in its own right.

this one requires you to wait for the dry down. fresh from the box, it’s gooood. spicy, woody, and subtly sweet. you won’t smell the vanilla and amber until the dry down, but it’s absolutely gorgeous. i believe this to be perfectly unisex. this is like no other fragrance that i own or have sampled, it’s very unique. excellent longevity, moderate sillage. this will be fantastic for fall and winter (wear what you want year round, of course), but it’s spring where i live and it’s still beautiful. 10/10 honestly. i was very surprised by this one.

I purchased barakkat gentle gold almost a year ago and I already had gentle Fluidity Gold in my collection for months. On first sniff I almost cried when I realized that I could have the same thing for a few euros. Since that day I've been trying to convince myself that the original must be better or to find some differences. I failed. There is no chance that anybody who smells you will be able to tell the difference between barakkat gentle gold and gentle Fluidity Gold.

I haven’t experienced MFK GFG. I have a fb of this juice, however and I’ve heard it’s a close dupe. This is beautiful, and in my opinion, best worn on a cloudy, rainy spring or fall day. When it’s kinda melancholy outside, but you’re feeling it-so you put on a light, cozy faded sweater, make some tea, light a candle, and spritz on some of this and listen to some lo-fi while you sit at the window, watching the rain fall.

I have a sample and it’s my SOTD. I’m loving it so much that I just bought a full bottle. The vanilla is soft and classy, the spice is not sharp but smooth and aromatic, the juniper berries and vanilla are the star of the show. This is an anytime anywhere perfume. I wore this to work today and I’m feeling very confident and put together. Not offensive at all even if over-sprayed. Winner!

Aromatic vanilla, with a noticeable hint of rose and lots of amberwood, gets muskier as it dries down on my skin. Excellent dupe for MFK's Gentle Fluidity Gold, and much like it, has a noticeable rose to my nose that's not present in the notes. Maybe it's just how the notes interact with each other. Works all year but summer, it's a bit too hot then. Leaves a trail, lots of compliments.

When I bought this I thought perhaps I’d made a mistake. But after letting it macerate for about 6-7 weeks I absolutely LOVE it! The vanilla together with those earthy/ woody note smell so lovely. My husband has complimented me on it too. Sometimes a wear a little on my wrist at bedtime. This perfume is really classy and I don’t see why it couldn’t be a signature fragrance.

Love at first sniff for me. It's an amber vanilla in the same family as roses vanille but it doesn't have the distinct cold rose accord , instead it is warmer due to the nutmeg which sits in the background. Can be worn in all seasons as the musk grounds the fragrance and prevents it from being too sweet. Now a staple for me!!!

(i have the rebranded one in the new bottle but pretty sure the fragrance itself is exactly the same) this is a good dupe! it's pretty spot-on to the original and would be a gorgeous signature scent. not quite as smooth as the MFK but with it being a fraction of the price it's a 10/10 no question

It wasn’t love at first sniff; the juniper opened up quite sharp and screechy, much like how black currant is to my nose, and it lasted through the dry down. I let it sit for about a month and it’s MUCH much better! It’s a beautiful, bright, light and refreshing everyday wearable fragrance now!

incredible. spicy, soft vanilla. seductive and ellegant. I was able to smell the original and it's almost the same. also lasts a looong time! I've had this fragrance since April and the more it sits, the better are the spices and longetivity. A compliment getter.

This is a beautiful sweet amber perfume with a hint of rose. It's not a beast perfume at all but for the price I spray very heavy. The vanilla in this is better than I've paid for higher priced perfume. This wears expensive and only cost me $20.

At first spray I didn't like this at all and wanted to use it as an air freshener. Thankfully i let it sit for a few months and now it has a soft vanillic scent. Inoffensive and can be easily worn anytime and anywhere.

Love. This is a beautiful vanilla. I sprayed and let it sit a couple weeks and she turned into an absolute gem! I will always have this in my collection. No need for the OG. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING fragrance. Well done 👍

I actually really fw this heavy. Name matches the smell perfectly. Haven’t smelled the original but this is a banger for the price point and that’s actually not up for debate (trust me)

I also bought this due to the Marie Collette recommendation. Her and Ksjena and Emma (perfumerism) are the only YouTube reviewers I not only trust but these ladies just have good noses!! I also like Amy Glam for my girlie sweet perfume recommendations. Anywhoo... this is such a spot on dupe!! My only issue with it is the Juniper (ha why did I buy this then?) BUT even with that said, I actually love this scent! It’s a simple non gourmand classic vanilla. Easy reach! I really wish they would do dupes of all MFKs others! Like the Rose one and APOM, and the one in the green bottle! I would buy them all! If you can’t Do Burberry Goddess due to lavender or ginger? This one does NOT give a headache!

I'm so glad I bought a decant before purchasing a full bottle. It's a pretty perfume but I believe they left out the rose in the note breakdown. I don't mind rose but I'm particular with the type of rose I wear. This smells like a lighter more berry forward Mancera Roses Vanille, Musk Vanille by Maison Alhambra and Warrior by Rachel Zoe (I have all of these). The rose is more watery in Barakkat Gentle Gold but they all are so similar to my nose that I don't need another one. However, I will wear and enjoy my 5ml decant of this pretty, feminine, rose fragrance.

I’ve had this a few months now and it’s an excellent, quiet scent to wear when working from home or on quiet housework days. I don’t have a sample of the original to do a side by side comparison but I’ve smelled it and they’re close enough to consider this (especially when it comes to price). This is a refined vanilla without being too sweet or gourmand. It’s quiet but it sustains for a surprisingly long time! Perfect if you don’t want your fragrance to turn heads or cause chaos in a small room. Gentle gold is the ideal descriptive name. Subtle comfort.

I haven't tried Gentle Fluidity Gold so I can't compare the likeness, but this was a love at first sniff for me. Absolutely gorgeous scent. Slightly spicy vanilla and amber, yet it's so soft and elegant. Such an easy reach for me because I never don't want to smell it cos its so beautiful. Good longevity, about 6 hours till it becomes a skin scent, and moderate silage. Fantastic for the price, I got mine for £15 off Amazon. Definitely a repurchase for me.

I am not a fan of Mancera's Roses Vanille but I enjoy this one because it is a lot softer and smoother. I live in a very hot and humid place and when I tried it in August it was a hot mess. Maybe it needed some time to macerate, too. But now, mid-November, it's a really pretty rose-vanilla. Great VFM.

Reminds me of Khamrah but more subtle and with something medicinal and minty. I weirdly like it. 😅 I don't get the rose but my partner did immediately. He said it smelling like Montal Ristretto Intense Cafe. I'm wearing it to bed tonight in my silk pajamas after my eye masks come off. 😌

Comparing side by side on skin, I experience this as a very close dupe to Gentle Fluidity Gold, but not quite as refined. If you want an inexpensive alternative to GFG, or one to wear under GFG so you can stretch out your expensive bottle, this is the one. 💜

Intense cafe and Ajwad type scent. MFK Gfg is the nicest if you have the dough just get original in 2nd is intense cafe 3rd is this bakkarat and 4th would be ajwad its kinda rough. All similar. Unisex pleasent. Enjoy!

A very chic perfume, but unfortunately I think it contains an ingredient I’m allergic to. Every time I spray it, I get instant chest tightness. It’s such a shame because I really love the scent.

I struggle with this fragrance. The coriander is the dominant note on my skin. I only get a HINT of vanilla. The coriander completely kills this fragrance for me. I want to love it so bad but I just can't. I've let it macerate for many weeks, it's been stored in a cool dark space, and it hasn't really changed. I will say one thing though, this vanilla isn't really a gourmand vanilla. This would a GREAT choice for someone who wants a vanilla fragrance that isn't sickly sweet or very feminine. It's VERY surprising in that aspect. I think this vanilla would be ideal for a guy who wants to wear a vanilla fragrance and not smell like a cupcake, or a vanilla fragrance that doesn't lean straight gourmand in general. It's a very interesting aromatic vanilla fragrance. Blind buy safe ? Absolutely not.

Musky amberwood dripping honey. I have never smelled the original that this is meant to be duping, so I am only speaking in terms of what this scent offers. It feels both too sharp and too bland to my nose. I did expect something with a little more freshness due to the inclusion of juniper, but really this just smells like pure akigalawood and little else. I generally like akigalawood, but only when there's something else going on. Alone, it makes me think of how Winnie the Pooh's fur would smell after he goes on a weeks-long honey bender but gets caught outside his house on a particularly rainy, blustery day.

This was highly recommended by one of my favorite perfume YTubers (MariaCollett.) For me, it was an unsuccessful blind buy. I now have a decant of the MFK version and realize I don't like that one either. Not sure if its the juniper berries, coriander or musk. But having said that, if you enjoy Gentle Fluidity Gold, this is quite similar at a fraction of the price. I'll try to mix it with some other scents to see if I can't get some use of out it.

How lovely to find Fragrantica has now added Gentle Gold to the database! Chemistry and associations all being individual, I will not try to describe the scent in great detail, as each one of us will smell something different. But the quality can easily be seen from how rapidly reviews are being added! My bottle is a couple of months old and moderate - not strong and not soft. It is a gorgeous and deceptively simple 'white' vanilla. Yes, spices are here, and oud, and a feminine, modern powder, but it all takes a backseat to the vanilla. It smells more golden or white to me than a French Vanilla,but is every bit as rich in essence. While the scent is sweet, I don't automatically think gourmand so much as ELEGANT vanilla. This is a mature woman's vanilla, though not a boring woman in any way. Safe enough (I think) to gift to a vanilla lover who isn't particularly interested in most niche, even. And yet those of us who have large fragrance wardrobes and love vanilla will likely not find her boring. Can masculine men wear Gentle Gold? Absolutely. Just be aware that you may want to layer with a bit of sandalwood or spice or cologne (OLD SPICE would be superb!), depending on your tastes and chemistry. Enjoy this marvelous bargain with abandon. The bottle and packaging are quite gift worthy, BTW. Five stars!

Aromatic with a hint of sweet weirdness. I can't compare to the MFK original since I don't remember that one too clearly. However, this smells very much like the way Brugmansia (angel trumpet) blooms smell at night. A weird almost sweet almost floral smell. An aromatic clean vanilla. It's a love for me. Great for late summer and early fall when the light turns more golden (versus the green yellow light of spring). Has a mellow feel to it, like it's not trying too hard to be anything. The secret to enjoying these dupes is to judge the scent as a scent, not according to how close it comes to the original. Nobody around you will recognize the original anyway unless they work a perfume counter, seriously.

I got this last year after falling in love with Gentle Fluidity Gold. I ended up buying two back up bottles because I loved it so much and would layer it with other scents. I've used an entire bottle of it so far and now I'm onto my second. I sent one of them to a friend who I swap perfumes with as I knew she's love it too. They were only £15 and I think I actually paid about £12 the second time I ordered them. Great value for money. It's a soft, feminine, gentle, powdery, vanilla and amber with a hint of juniper and coriander. Has a face cream sorted of scent but I high end luxury face cream. Performance is decent but my first bottle needed time to macerate as it was just alcohol at first.

Really quite similar to MFK GFG, as I tested the current version in Paris recently. However, it took MONTHS (8)of letting Gentle Gold sit for it to mature into something wearable and close to the original. MFK IS SMOOTHER. Yet, they both have the PROMINENT juniper note that is troublesome to me. GFG juniper is a bit softer while both let the vanilla take a backseat when it should be more prominent, in my opinion.

This is a lovely feminine amber and vanilla fragrance. It’s a pretty good dupe of GFG however slightly more synthetic and not as smooth but to the untrained nose you couldn’t tell the difference. It’s a warm and cosy scent, great longevity and sillage. A real compliment getter! I layer it with Domino Essence 05 or Byredo’s Animalique.

I got this perfume for my mom for 10 dollars. I sprayed it on my wrist first when I picked up on the nugmet, vanilla, & amber. It reminded me of a perfume that i have which is Carolina Herrera CH Men. 🤭 But just those 3 notes this is a whole different feminine perfume.

If anghams lavender is too much for you? Get this. This is a quite good vanilla and a very spot on dupe!! Will buy again! For the gals who want a classic amber vanilla not gourmand? This is great and great for those on a budget! Becoming harder to find!!

I love this in the summer. It's like a sophisticated cotton candy with juniper berries as a light accent. My only complaint is that it went bad after a year and I had to throw it out. It went sour. DId that happen to anyone else?

The opening reminds me of childhood. I smell cedar wood trinket boxes. So I love it. A light sweetness playing in the background. It's mid macerating. I hope it keeps the prominent juniper berries note. It's fantastic!

I have this but this smells like Montale which I didn't like. I didn't get the hype with that nor do I get the hype with this. Pretty but nothing that makes me wow. I decluttered it unfortunately
