Colosseum

Doing a side by side with my triumph of Bacchus right now, first thing I can say, it does remind you right away of triumph of Bacchus, but when smelling them side by side, it is a lighter version of it, less rich, less dense, less boozy, and I feel like I’m getting more of the tobacco patchouli boozy essence from TOB than I am from coliseum, with that said, making my girl smell them side by side, she said “that’s really nice” about coliseum which is super rare! And then she smelled triumph and said “no I don’t like that, it’s too alcoholy” I think she meant the booze note was too intense because it’s not alcoholy in a cheap perfume way at all. TOB is one of my all time favourites and this coliseum is like 75-80% similar but for some people it might be much more wearable, so that’s a plus, I’ll definitely be keeping it because I like it and if my girl compliments it, that’s a big yes. After drying down for 10 minutes they get closer, I think it’ll continue to get closer and closer as it dries longer. Definitely a keeper. Maybe if you get a clone of bitter peach from fragrance world, do 1 spray of that for every 3 of coliseum and have yourself a good time, haven’t tried it yet but I think it would be good layering!

GUYS remove every review out of your mind, this is the one you have to read. Colosseum opens up with a super nice peach and rum with a very slight hint of a bitter apple. However, the fruits smell candied, almost syrupy. Not just the fruit, but a sweetened version. After a bit, it shifts to continue with the syrupy peach and rum, but introduces the super smooth and addictive tobacco, which mixes in so well with the vanilla and amber that meet your nose together. Imagine being on a super nice restaurant patio. You're munching down on a peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, sipping a beautiful rum, and have a cigar in your pocket ready for a smoke. There is no hint of smoke in the fragrance though, just beautiful tobacco. I get about 11 hours on skin with a medium-strong projection that becomes a skin scent pretty quick. As regards to how similar it is to Triumph of Bacchus, I have no clue since I haven’t tried the OG. I did blind buy this. HOWEVER, I think you should smell it first. It was more fruity than I expected. Have a good one to whoever is reading this.

A slightly lighter, slightly less boozy, slight more fruity, more wearable version of Triumph Of Bacchus. The fruit is turned up a notch. The rum is turned down a notch. On drydown they become so so soooo similar It's hard to tell them apart. Considering price. I'd rather get myself a few bottles of this and then layer it up with a gorgeous rum fragrance that is sweet and rum forward. It'll literally smell like a better version of Bacchus OG. My personal layering pick is this with Lubin Idole or a bit of French Avenue Royal Blend Vintage. Trust me. This with a very rum forward fruity fragrance is GOD TIER.

I’ve never tried the original but the scent profile a speaks to me. This reminds me of Xandal; but if you swapped out the heavy vanilla and chocolate truffle note and replace it with the fruity peach and apple combo. There’s a hint of leather in the dry down as well. A great winter to spring transition scent as it’s warm and cosy but fresh at the same time. I really like it!

A more masculine version of TF Bitter Peach.

Oh my goodness...this is a WEARABLE version of "Triumph of Bacchus"!!! While it is not choking you out like "Triumph of Bacchus"...it falls on the other end of the spectrum where it becomes faint far too soon. I just received my bottle so it may require maceration. This starts out as a sweeeeet rummy peach and then turns into suede leather and dark peach after about 40 minutes. Unfortunately, this turns into a skin scent after 2 hours. It does last on skin for a good 8 hours with a 10-11 hour wear total. This will work good for people that only want to smell themselves without anyone else noticing them. This is almost perfect...if only it had more power. 6/10 EDIT: Going to let this one mature for a month or two while the summer dies out....if it gets better I'll think about purchasing a backup bottle. As it stands right now...this is a "Winter Only" recommended fragrance.

Nose Note #969 Imagine Babycat, but add a strong fruit note, something like a boozy and spicy plum. If Babycat is sort of dry, this one is very juicy. There are of course a lot more differences between the two, I'm oversimplifying. I don't know why, but this scent is annoying me a little. The sillage is alright, but upclose I'm a bit turned off. At first the scent felt like a mess, but after about 3ml I began seeing the image more clearly. It's not the most mass appealing scent. It has a similar play doh quality to it like Babycat and Rossendo Mateu #5 Definitely more masculine. Winter only. The performance is not impressive actually. On initial spray you may think that it's a heavy hitter, but no. Stronger than moderate, but not strong per se. Same goes to sillage. 7/10, not my cup of tea

I recently got a sample of Triumph of Bacchus so I could compare these two fragrances. To my nose, Bacchus’ opening handles the rum note better than Colosseum. I find the rum note in Bacchus smoother and less harsh/nostril flaring than Colosseum. But once that dry down starts they start to get extremely close and eventually become almost indistinguishable. Between the two I would say Bacchus has a slightly higher note quality overall. But given how close the two get on dry down you can’t go wrong with this affordable option.

This is a lighter, fresher version of the OG. As an inspiration, it’s a solid 8. What they did here was make it more all-day appealing. You could honestly wear this in the AM or in the office—I’d even say summer. I don’t see it getting as cloying in the heat like the OG. The fruits are more prominent here, and that’s a good thing. Final notes: this isn’t a 1:1. It’s more like same mother, different father vibes. It lacks the depth and richness the OG has. That’s it—if you love the OG, I’d definitely pick this up.

Smells just like Gladiator by Bujairami, except I'd say this is a bit smoother at every point of it's evolution. Starts out as sweet fruity liqueur and changes to a dark spicy tobacco. Not my type of scent but this is a rare tobacco that is smooth, non synthetic and doesn't reek of cloves.

Smells like peach tea before it gets put in water (+ some light florals). It's quite fresh & enjoyable for the spring. Totally unisex imo

Came in today and I was excited expecting something close to Bacchus and this isn't it. This is a big miss by Fragrance World. Currently at hour 3 with I kid you not 8 sprays all I smell is a generic leather note (not listed) sandalwood/amber as a skin scent. Upon application there's a sharpness (Maybe their attempt at rum but I didn't get rum at all) and a faint glimmer of peach and apple that fades quicker than a baby's fart. Five minutes later it's gone and your left with what we have above. Save your money and stop believing these fake reviews. Avoid this waste of money.

Conclusions gathered from a side by side comparison: Colosseum = Bacchus with the fruits turned up and the rum turned down. Once they both dry down they are pretty much indistinguishable to the point it is nearly impossible to tell them apart. If you like this DNA get Colosseum unless you THINK you need the Argos bottle, which is pretty much the only selling point....blah blah consumerism predatory capitalism illusion of luxury blah blah

Hold on... something this dirt cheap smells so good? There is no way... Longevity is amazing too. Hidden gem?
