Inimitable

I agree that this needs time to mature. I wasnt impressed upon initially using it but 6 months later it is incredible and part of my regular rotation for the colder months.

#1274 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Another note-for-note dupe from Fragrance World, this one of Penhaligon's "Inimitable William Penhaligon" which is clearly quite imitable as I can detect little difference between the scents. Both the very same "shaving cream" in scent composition and both moderate in performance. Mostly vetiver and sandalwood in character. It's a male scent women could wear, but would probably chose not to wear. Fine for the office. People will just think you didn't rinse off the shaving soap very thoroughly. Probably okay evening wear, but again, gives off the vibe of just having showered and shaved, and for some women that's sexy. I hope to see Fragrance World move onto duplicating some of the better Penhaligon's like "Sartorial", "Endymion" and "Lothar" as the portrait scents are not my favorites for scent or performance. Car pool, elevator and small office safe. A year round scent. At this price a definite must have.

Zesty and minty barbershop scent BUT powdery (Vanilla?) and delicate so it can easily be worn by women as a comforting and clean (though *slightly* masculine leaning) scent. Almost a 1:1 of the original but the original Penhaligons 'The Inimitable William Penhaligon' starts off with sharper citrus notes that vaguely remind me of cheap cleaning products, particularly lemon scented toilet cleaner if I think about it enough. This 'clone' has all the elements of the orig that I love minus those intense citrus notes in the initial spray and in replacement it has an abundance of that sweet powdery note. It is unusual because you dont find a combination of zest and mint with powder/vanilla. Both the original and this has an old school 'toothpaste' scent (think Marvis and Officine Buly 1803 toothpastes) with that softer bicarb-mint scent from ye olden days.

Not an exact dupee, but it's like 70% similar to the original from Penhaligon's, which is my "signature" scent. It opens way more citrusy and of course, in the drydown becomes more alike. Not gonna lie, the quality difference it's there but somehow the fragrance does the trick. It is nice but if you like it too much I recommend going for the real one.

This clone doesnt have the same effervescence as the original however given the price difference this acceptable. Don't buy this fragrance if you don't like vetiver.

Light vetiver. No projection. Short longevity. Many months of maturation in the dark did not change the fragrance.

Not a safe blind buy. It projects well but very polarizing smell.

Nice vetiver and incense forward scent with a creamy drydown. I usually can't stand Middle Eastern clones but this one feels more like a designer product, something brands like Mauboussin would release. I was wearing it the other day and got told I smell like money. Not in the sense of smelling rich but rather smelling like a literal 10 dollar note. I had a good laugh about it. Don't know if that's a compliment or not.

Didn't like this at first, smelt something sour like persian amani lemons, but i can see maceration is doing its thing, I'll wait and review it after maceration, i believe it is going to be very much better

Smells maybe 70-80% similar to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Hermes Terre d'Hermes Eau Givree. They're all smell-alikes.

A dupe called 'Inimitable', ...that's kinda iconic.
