#44 of My Fragrance Journey - Oud Wonder: Smoke, Skin, and Quiet Luxury I'll be honest - I bought Oud Wonder on a whim. Dropping over £200 on Tom Ford's Oud Wood didn't sit right with me, no matter how much I'd liked it when I smelled it months ago. I remembered it as smooth, creamy, expensive-smelling - but that memory was hazy, like perfume left on someone else's scarf. So I followed curiosity, not conviction. And, well... this thing kind of blew my mind. The opening? Gorgeous. Smooth, spicy, a touch smoky. It doesn't slam you with harsh medicinal oud or anything barnyard-y. It starts soft and elegant. Cardamom gives it an aromatic lift, and rosewood sweetens the edges just enough to feel plush. It's like someone sanded the sharp corners off oud and left only the warm, creamy heart. Then it melts into the skin. That's where the real charm lives. The sandalwood takes over - buttery, almost addictive - wrapped in a gentle hum of spice and smoke. It feels like a scent glowing from beneath your clothes, warm and comforting, but just a bit mysterious. You can't quite tell where the sweetness ends and the woods begin. Hours later, it's still there, softer now but even more beautiful - amber, tonka, a flicker of smoky vetiver. The kind of dry-down that feels like skin after a fire's gone out: warm, quiet, a little sweet with ash in the air. Balanced, creamy, and impossibly smooth. And honestly? For the price, it's ridiculous. This isn't just a "dupe." It's a full, proper fragrance - thoughtful, well-constructed, and more than capable of standing on its own. Wearing Oud Wonder made me realise something: I don't actually need the Tom Ford. This one gives me everything I wanted from that scent - the elegance, the calm confidence, the quiet luxury - and somehow makes it feel more grounded. Less about status, more about the moment. It's warm, smoky, and creamy in all the right ways. For the price and the quality, it’s nothing short of a wonder. It’s a stellar signature scent for cooler weather. Not loud. Not flashy. Just quietly, effortlessly beautiful.

Blend (5/5): Safe for the office, dry, and well-composed. Uniqueness (3/5): Office-safe but follows a familiar path. Perceived Quality (3/5): Lacks layers of complexity and does not feel particularly expensive in its choice of ingredients. Scent Profile & Projection In the air, Oud Wonder emanates a clean, soapy scent that is perfectly suitable for an office environment. It is comparable to the herbal, woody fragrances found in department stores, such as those from Marks & Spencer or Baldessarini. Performance & Complexity Deep down, close to the skin—where the actual complexity lies, though sadly it does not project—Oud Wonder evokes a watery, damp earthiness, reminiscent of wet, mellowed tobacco leaves, soft herbal roots, and bright suede leather. Final Impression As the name implies, Oud Wonder does indeed capture the essence of fumes rising from burning agarwood, much like what I experience when burning oud at home. However, it lacks the "dirty" nuances of burnt resin, which unfortunately strips away much of the depth and complexity one might expect. For example the original Oud Wood has that distinct smell of burning rubber. Which you get when burning resin.

This fragrance is such a good representation of TF Oud Wood. I have the OG TF Oud Wood and this is extremely close. Oud Wonder is very subtle and soft. It doesn't have that loud projection. It sits in the very close scent bubble space. It is much better than the Woody oud in the replica space in my opinion in terms of quality and closeness to TF Oud Wood. However Woody oud projects more but is very synthetic and chemical smelling. I would recommend this one over the other replica's. In South Africa the OG TF Oud Wood is 18 times pricier than the Oud Wonder.

Really nice. Captures the essence of Oud Wood, though not an exact clone. Lasts all day with soft projection. A masculine, professional scent, that works in all occasions and situations. I have MA Dark Aoud and, though they are similar, this is better. For under $20, this is amazing--get this if you like Oud Wood but don't want to spend Oud Wood money!

Great scent, very close to the original. I love it! Unfortunately, performance isn't great on me and projection and sillage is fairly low. That said, if you shop around you can find it incredibly cheap. If it had more longevity and performance it would be back up bottle worthy.

The reviewer below me might have had a bad batch . Mine is a one on one Tom Ford. Soft gentle professional and sophisticated.. Perfect for office and a night out . A great buy and a bit of a surprise since arabian houses are always a hit or miss . This hits the sweet spot.

firstly I was pretty skeptical of it, and couldn't really get my nose on it moreover it was generally mid quality, really synthetic smelling, but after about half of the year maceration it became truly beautiful and pretty close to og, like it now

Love it, warm woody and masculine. Only thing that kills it is the very weak longevity and sillage. Will come back and mention if maceration helps its performance. Would definitely try layering it to help also.

Way better than woody oud and so much closer to the OG 95% imo, the only difference is that this is sharper and not as smooth as the OG but in the air they’re the same. Amazing quality on this one

I'm not big fan of this type of dna but it is blended well and has good performance probably because it's been sitting for a year now. I use it now and then as layering.

Smells fairly close to Oud Wood, but it is not as animalic or dry. More smooth and less oud. Not bad at all for the price.

This is a 90% clone, to my nose, I have both the OG Tom Ford, and I can tell you, they're extremely close.

Good longevity moderate performance far better from woody oud and expensive oud wood because its the same

It reminds me of a woody marzipan

It's about as close as a dupe can get. I'd say it's 80% similar to Tom Ford oud wood. There's a bit more wood and spice in this one compared to our wood. Opening is not as smooth. Maceration will soften that. Oud is a very expensive ingredient in fragrances, And the clean white oud that TF is using is even more so. So this company did something smart, they used either regular or synthetic oud, but just less of it.. Smells nice.. but lacks the depth and smoothness. This could be a nice casual office scent. Or for layering with something

Mine is very young, January 2025 batch. At this stage of its development (could be poorly macerated) it smells quite like Monocline 05 from Maison Alhambra: "Gin & Tonic with soft woods" and the performance is not good at all on my skin. Scent last for a couple of minutes and becomes a very faint skin scent. Maybe this batch has issues: L3/FWM/15935/1 Update 12/2025: This has improved with time

I've smelled oud wood at the airport and it's just beutiful, classy and timeless without smelling like everyone else, this gets around 89% - 94% close id say but the quality of this compared to the og is very very low, if you really like oud wood it's worth getting the og imho

Tom Ford oud wood without spice and sweeter

The pitch is solid. Get very close to TF quality for $25 and get a woody dark vetiver scent. Unfortunately, the promised rosewood, sandalwood and vetiver are undetectable here. The "oud" is initially sharp and sweet-vinyl smelling. This accord develops into vanilla, almond extract, anise, medicinal oud and a lingering but diminished vinyl. A powdery, almost cloying sweetened patchouli forms the base of this, and the absence of woods and vetiver create what I perceive as a lack of balance. I don't really like the TF version, but I admire its quality, and this one gets pretty close to TF. This just isn't my type of thing, but if is yours, you might really like this. Tried this last year and sent it back. Its a gorgeously delightful, incredible Oud scent that lasts about the same length of time it takes me to walk up a flight of stairs. Pathetic performance, longevity and sillage but a miraculously beautiful scent. What a shame. 2/10

If you like Oud Wood by TF you should go for it the smell is the same and for 30$ that’s a deal don’t last long tho but if you don’t have the money for the OG version then take this one, I blind buy it so I was disappointed by the smell I guess the oud is not for me

Smells like aftershave, nothing special.

The first 5 minutes is like tf oud wood fter that it the whole fragrance dissapears and you cant smell it anymore. You can only smell this soapy weird smell after 5 minutes.

Don’t buy this! I have this for around 6 months now . First time I tried the OG oud wood by tom ford I fell in love with that so I decided to give this clone a chance . It’s no where close to OG , it doesn’t have the mysteriousness at all . Very synthetic smelling , gives me headache . Every month i give it a chance on my skin ( when i’m just in the house ) and each time I regret doing it. I have around 7 perfumes and this is my least favorite one . If you like the oud wood tom ford don’t think it’s a cheap similar option that does the job for you.

For several years, I had been hesitant to sample TF Oud Wood because I’m retired, and with a limited budget, I was afraid I’d fall in love with this perfume, but not be able to afford it....and that’s exactly what happened when I smelled this beautiful fragrance a few weeks ago. So...I set out to find the best clone of Oud Wood, quickly finding that the least expensive clone seemed to be the one that most people felt was the closest to the OG in terms of duplicating its smell. I’m speaking of Oud Wonder by Fragrance World. I ordered a 75 ml bottle of Oud Wonder from Amazon for the very minimal price of $20.21, and it arrived yesterday. Although I had read some reviews in which it was reported to smell 95% like the OG, I was prepared to be disappointed, as I found it difficult to believe that a fragrance this inexpensive could possibly live up to the hype. My initial test spray was on the back of my right hand only, as virtually every piece of bare skin was soaked in the Dior Homme Intense I was wearing that day. The moment had finally arrived, and the scent? To my nose, I was smelling TF Oud Wood....not a $20 clone. Unfortunately, I had only sampled the OG on a test strip, so it was impossible to say just how close the OG and the clone were in terms of pure smell when sprayed on skin. And of course, I could only compare the two based on my two-week-old memory of “the real Oud Wood”...so there’s that. So until I pick up a sample vile of the OG, I can’t offer a fully legitimate comparison. But my limited, initial reaction is that Oud Wonder smells AMAZINGLY close to Tom Ford Oud Wood, at less than 10% of the price. I haven’t yet given myself a full spray-down of Oud Wonder, but that initial spray to the back of my hand? On this rare day that I didn’t shower at least once ...I can still smell this perfume after roughly 35 hours. I have no idea of how it will do in terms of projection and/or sillage...but its longevity qualifies for “beast mode” status. The nice thing is that if in the final test, Oud Wonder doesn’t perform as well as I hope it will, I can afford to drown myself in it if need be. As prepared as I was to be disappointed by this clone...I’m glad to say that I couldn’t be happier with this fragrance. While those with more experienced and discerning noses might fight minimal differences between this clone and its original, I would wager that in a blind test with random people on the street...few would be able to tell the difference between one of the most expensive designer fragrances and its “cheapie” dupe. Of all the clones I own, Oud Wood is hands down, the most impresses clone I own!

Honestly, when I first got this, it was dog shit. I actually let it sit for about 2 months after initial sprays. And I just tried it today, and it smells pretty good. Off rip, you get woody spicyness. After it sits for a little while on your skin, it starts smelling better and better. I'd rate it a 7/10 because it's not the usual DNA I get in fragrances. This is highly masculine and smells pretty close to the og. The vibe of this is like a trench coat all-black outfit, if you get me.

The scent profile is not for me, but normal people would not know you're not wearing the original TF oud wood. Very accurate clone and I think it lasts better than the original, the original is blended better and smells way smoother, but this clones the scent profile very accurately I tried at the store so it was probably macerating there for ages

To the guy below; let the juice oxidize a little by using 5-10ml and leaving it sit for a while. More often than not, cheap perfumes need time and oxygen to mature. Mine lasts ~6hrs with low to moderate projection but i expected nothing more from a 30$ perfume that captured the smell of the one it’s cloning so good.

It's woody, fresh, balsamic and slightly sweet. Very masculine until the base drydown which is a bit sweet vanillic. Drawback? Gone in a couple of hours. 6/10

If you love this smell, better to buy a decant atomiser, needed to spray once in 2-3 hours in AC room environment. Very weak performance

Oud Wood and Oud Wonder are very similar - just a small note that Oud Wonder was released before 2024. I bought it in 2023.

Same as Milton Lloyd Mojo, that is even cheaper than this. Tom Ford original is much better if you have money to spend.

I hope that there will come a day when people cease with all of the "maceration" b.s.

Pleasant enough, reasonable knock off of the original.
