Star Men Nebula

#1244 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I've made no secret of my infinite ire toward L'Oreal for acquiring and destroying Mugler and eliminating some of the most unique fragrances ever created. "Kryptomint", "Pure Havane", "Pure Energy", "Pure Tonka", and the scent this copies, "Pure Malt", were all absolute superstars to my nose. Had I even suspected L'Oreal would do what they've done I would have stocked up on lifetime supplies. But I'm down for any attempted clones, and this one is not bad at all. You would not expect identical quality to the originals, especially not at this low price, and like most Fragrance World dupes you mostly notice the difference in the longevity. I note reviewer comments about synthetics, but to be fair Mugler used synthetics too and who cared? Not me! I just like how approachable the scents all were and all the response they got, even from the girlfriend that told me I smelled like a pack of Wrigley's Spearmint gum when I wore Kryptomint. As with the original, no one note dominates this scent. It's just a nice, warm blend of candy, fruit, whisky, wood and amber that doesn't come across sweet and cloying, and eventually dries down to a woody coffee aroma. I see some were reminded of Reyane Tradition's "Insurrection II", and I get it because the Reyane is similar to "Pure Havane" which was very similar to "Pure Malt." Pure Malt is basically "Pure Havane" minus tobacco. Insurrection II is like a weaker version of Pure Havane (Fragrance World's dupe "Galactic Intense" is on my to do list) . A more EDP strength fragrance similar to Pure Havane is Lattafa's "Qa'ed Intense" which would be very close if only they increased the honey note a bit as Havane was definitely sweeter than the Lattafa dupe. This is a versatile scent, safe for any environment. Applied liberally you'll still respray every several hours for sure, but I paid $15 for this, so I have no complaints whatever, except that I wish Fragrance World would hurry up and produce clones of the rest of the A* Men scents, as when they do I'm in line.

Are you one of those who are looking for the perfume Pure Malt by Mugler? Well, I think that it is better that you don't search for this perfume! Because you probably won't find it! Well, I have a better suggestion for you. Instead of bothering yourself and searching all the perfume online shops for Pure Malt by Mugler; buy this one. I promise that it will completely satisfy you. In my opinion, this fragrance has a very high silage and a completely acceptable longevity. I even think that it has a better longevity and sialge than the original version. A very pleasant thing about this perfume is that it satisfies both lovers of bitter and sweet perfumes. Un poco sintética, sí, creo que sobretodo las frutas, pero no es un sintético que maree (me suelen marear las frutas sintéticas). Pero no es algo malo necesariamente, Invictus y Erba Pura son extremadamente sintéticos (más que esto) y todos los aman. Incluso la vainilla es más llevable que muchas vainillas de perfumes diseñador europeos. Si te gusta oler masculino, maduro y agradar a todos, es perfecta. Puedes usarla cuando sea mientras haga fresquito, realmente no proyecta ni dura demasiado así que dudo que moleste a la gente. Aún así, si te atomizas mucho se vuelve hostigante, así que recomiendo llevar un decant y atomizar cuando veas que se va el olor, en lugar de echarte demasiado en primer lugar. Creo que es perfecto para ocasiones no demasiado formales pero tampoco demasiado informales, quizá una cena del trabajo, ir a un bar decente o una salida con tu pareja. Por el precio excelente, no puedes pedir más, teniendo en cuenta que rescatan un perfume descatalogado

I never had the pleasure of smelling Mugler's A*Men Pure Malt that inspired Star Men Nebula, but this stuff is wonderful. It's a moderately sweet blend of boozy, woody, & fruity notes that create a warm rich accord that's versatile and appealing - and thanks to the fruity notes it also has a fresh edge at the same time. There's an almost nutty quality to the malt here, giving it a sense of depth that works wonderfully with the chocolatey patchouli, amber, and very subtle coffee notes which are well-balanced by some lighter musk notes. There's a kind of timeless class to this scent that should appeal to a range of ages and situations. It's ideally a cooler weather scent, though I wouldn't mind wearing it in moderately warm spring or fall temps especially for evenings. The performance is fine, not stellar but average to slightly above average longevity with moderate projection. At $20, this is a gem and I highly recommend it.

The opening is quite fruity and pleasant—sweet, yet beautifully balanced with a refreshing touch from the whiskey and malt. As it dries down, it takes on a cocoa-like and mouthwatering character with an excellent blend of earthy patchouli, coffee, and vanilla notes. Although the batch I have isn’t very long-lasting, but it has an INCREDIBLE sillage. I even wear it to the gym, and it’s not overwhelming at all—on the contrary, I’ve received many compliments from my friends. I find that this fragrance pairs really well with a leather jacket and jeans. It gives off a bit of a rebellious, masculine, and charismatic vibe to me. To summarize: while it’s a bit synthetic, it’s a really good fragrance for the price. The projection is very successful, and everyone around me seems to like it. It’s a well-balanced and pleasant scent. Also, if you want to smell different, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

gotta say I bought this blind purchase. Didn't know anything about A*men Pure Malt and This one is so amazing. the fragrance I never smelled before in my life but If i have to say if there's similarity? it's Azzaro's Wanted by night or Killian Angel's Share. I always wanted to sniff and test A*Men's pure Malt and I found out it got discontinued but then I Found this gem and this is the 1:1 dupe. all I can say is ... If it's A*Men Malt's smell? I gotta say Mugler made huge mistake to discontinuing that masterpiece. it is warm, sweet fruity and cozy feeling with a little bit of boozy. it makes me keep sniffing it. I probably will get more bottles after I use all of it. this one is nice for 30's to 50's men. totally matured vibe! I totally love this.

This is one of my first-ever fragrance purchases (as well as blind-buys) and is ultimately what got me into collecting. I bought this fragrance a few years ago for two reasons: the name (haha) and the fact that it was cloning a now discontinued niche fragrance. Despite the fact that my bottle doesn't really last (I get like 3 hours tops unfortunately), the scent profile blew me away then and continues to impress me now. It's boozy and sweet, but not cloying. It smells kind of fancy or sophisticated, to the point where I would recommend it to older gentlemen rather than 20-30 year olds. Either way, it smells great but just doesn't last (or at least my bottle doesn't).

Owned Pure Malt about 13-14 years ago. My wife bought it me (along with Pure Coffee) for our anniversary, as A*Men was my signature scent back then. While it’s hard to draw a 1:1 comparison, I will say this: Wow. This juice is as good as I remember the original was. Opening to dry down smells pure class. It also smells about $200 more than its $40 AUD price tag. Boozy, fruity, woody, yet with a fresh, slightly soapy vibe. $40 for this. Blimey. The nostalgia is hitting hard tonight.

I have never smelled Pure Malt in my life but this is great. It is one of the most delicious gourmand fragrances in my collection. It is truly unique. Sure it goes in the category of Nishane Ani, Nasheet and the like - but those are very few compared to the rest. It smells lovely, welcoming, tasteful. I think the haters are just trying to keep all the bottles to themselves. Mind you this was sold out at one point and being sold second hand for over $500.

I looked at the reviews below and went for his blind. And...YES it's a good choice. Star Men Nebula is inexpensive and very nice. Boozy, coffee, spices and amber. Longevity and silage both on the good side but I wish it was better. It's slightly more woodier than Pure Malt in the dry down. Nice in it's own right though with a well made heavy bottle. Very masculine and a good buy. A firm like from me. (Might turn into a love)

Again, a clone that makes sense. This is almost the same as Mugler Pure Malt, which is one of my favourite frags of all time. Being a discontinued fragrance makes it even more precious. Now Nebula is an awesome solution for me. I prefer a clone to something that is discontinued to just making clones for the sake of it. At this price point, I'm gonna stock enough for me to use forever...

Banger! I get fruit, whiskey, coffee, patchouli... and vanilla on the dry down. Lasts a good 8+ hours with moderate projection. Gives off a Lattafa Khamrah Qawha vibe, so if you're into that scent profile, this is for you. This is an amazing fall-winter-spring scent. For $17, this is what I call bang for your buck. Go out and pick this one up, stat. Would I buy again? Yes.

Great scent. I don't own the original, but this was good quality for the price. Better quality than other clones at similar price point. I love the malt, whiskey, coffee, vanilla, cedar, musk and amber notes. Dream team mix of notes for me. This is a perfect gift to give to someone to introduce them to fragrances or someone in need of a multifaceted daily fragrance.

I received a sample of Pure Malt when I got La nuit from Macy's a while back. Didn’t use it til a year after. Man, did I fall in love with it. Boozy sweetness. Addictive. Then to my dismay, they no longer made it. I heard this was a clone to it and I gotta say. The DNA is present, just not as smooth and performance falls short. For 20 dollars? Can’t complain.

I absolutely adore this extremely boozy sweet whiskey and coffee gourmand. Opens fruity sweet and quickly picks up the middle notes. Longevity is not the best right now. This is very similar to Reyanne Tradition Insurrection 2 whereas Reyanne is more medicinal to my nose. I enjoy this sweet sexy gem...could easily be unisex. Love.

I can't believe this fragrance is so cheap and yet. So amazing, it's very, very close to the original. Like stupid close. My bottle is fully matured and my gosh what a beauty of a fragrance it is. this to my nose is a 1 to 1 clone period. i will not spend the money to buy the OG specially for what people are charging these days.

Strictly masculine fragrance. Extremely good for its price. Quality that is definitely worth much more than the €20 you pay to buy it. Longevity is easily 6-7 hours with noticeable scent. I really wonder how they can produce such beautiful perfumes at such a low price. I think it suits more to men 40+. For me 9/10

blind buy, i mean what the heck for 20 bucks. I never smelled Pure Malt, but every Youtube fragrance influencers loved it and hated to see it discontinued, so when I heard this knock off very good, I bought it. I love it! Unusual but familiar at the same time. Perfect for the winter!

If I could get pure malt, I would. Sadly it's long gone so nebula man will have to suffice and honestly, it does a pretty good job! It captured that boozy fruity jammyness from pure malt really well and the performance is nuclear, no joke. I bought my bottle for around 20 bucks too.

Lovely fragrance for the price! Close to the original. It doesn't last very long, maybe 3-4 hours and sillage is more towards the weaker side. Maybe layering it with something else would enhance those parameters. Would definitely recommend this if you missed out on pure malt

I still have my original Mugler bottle from 2017. Close up the opening is a bit less sweet than Pure Malt but the dry-down is almost identical. Smells about the same in the air. As someone pointed out below, this is probably one of the most accurate dupes ever.

Fruity boozy malty whiskey barrel and light citrus open that transitions to patchouli, cedar, and a touch of coffee. In the base I pick up a continuation of the malted patchouli which starts to take on a sweet vanilla and peaty musk. This is fantastic.

Boozy, woody warm vanilla spice. I love it. Some will say it's for the older gentleman because it does feel more grown up. Man this scent is good and the price is even better. You can't go wrong with this one especially if you're over 35.

At first I was not thrilled on how this cologne was smelling based on the first min or so of spraying it. But, when the dry down starts omg it smells amazing. 8/10 Im thinking of buying another one as a back up when I run out of this one.

This opens as a rich bouquet of fruity sweetness, then quickly evolves into a boozy, wet, patchouli bomb with nuances of coffee and spices. A gorgeous scent to layer over other woods, including Oud for Greatness by Lattafa.

Very nice smell but from a get go it doesnt last. 1 hour and non any projection. If you like Mugler definitely good alternative, but you would need to buy this in summer to let it macerate which define a purpose.

If you like Pure Malt, this one's a no brainer. Very similar clone mabye less sweet and more on the boozy side . I liked it very much in overall... Very good value for the price. 8.3/10

The opening is really fresh. Becoming more sweet, warm, and kinda synthetic malt but still great. Not complaining because of the price. Great for a night out

It smells really good. Smelling the atomizer it smells like black licorice. I had people asking me what I was wearing aswell.

Glad to see Star Men Nebula now has its own page. Star Men Nebula vs A*Men Pure Malt: I have the Star Men Nebula since September 2023 and in my 50+ fragrances, it's one of my favorites. Before buying the Star Men Nebula, I had the opportunity to smell the A*Men Pure Malt on a scent strip and I really liked it. 6 months after purchasing the SMN, I had the opportunity to compare them side by side on my skin. I was really looking forward to doing this test because I couldn't get out of my head that I would perhaps appreciate the OG even more than SMN and that it might be worth paying the high price tag. Well, no, not at all actually, I really prefer the Nebula and I would describe this one more as a twist on the Pure Malt than a clone: they are close but are also quite different. Both have a patchouli note, but the patchouli in the Pure Malt has a pronounced earthy tar note that is part of many A*Men fragrances. Some people appreciate this note, but personally, I don't like it on my skin and this note is not present in the Nebula. Also, Nebula is sweeter, and the malt note is brighter. As a result, I find the Nebula has a much more gourmand profile witch I really appreciate. I'm glad I don't have to buy the original after all. I have some clones in my collection which are extremely close to the originals and in this sense, Nebula is not a good clone. But it is a good fragrance which has its own profile, inspired by A*Men Pure Malt. From a performance point of view, given that the Nebula is sweeter, I feel the projection is slightly better, but in both cases, it remains moderate. In terms of longevity, the Pure Malt last longer as a skin scent, but the longevity with effective projection is similar and remains slightly above average for both. Seriously, if you like this type of profile, the Nebula is so affordable that you shouldn't hesitate to try it. Update 01/20/25: I like this profile so much that I decided to buy another clone that is also from Fragrance World: Posh Malt. My goal is to determine which one I prefer and keep only one. After 2 months of maturation for the Posh Malt, I can say that the SMN and the PM are very very close and hard to separate. The Posh Malt seemed a little fresher to me and the Star Men, a little darker. That said, it was very subtle. I will retest it in about a month and update my comment. On the website of my favorite discounter, the Posh Malt is cheaper. Also, I prefer the PM bottle to the SMN one which looks a bit cheap. Update 02/26/25: I finally gave away the Star Men Nebula and kept the Posh Malt. After 3 months of maturation, I couldn't tell them apart and I couldn't decide which one to keep. I just preferred the Posh Malt bottle.

They should’ve just called this “Malt Liquor Dreams and Broken Condom Realities.” I preordered it off Amazon, hyped like it was Christmas morning, only to get blasted with Pine-Sol on first spray. Almost yeeted the whole bottle into traffic. But I’m stubborn, so a month later I hit it again before trudging to work in the snow. And BAM—dry down came through like a plot twist. Lemon vanished, and suddenly it’s coffee, cedar, and peet smoke magic. Random people were actually smiling as I walked by, which never happens. Now it’s locked in the rotation. Moral of the story: sometimes you gotta suffer through the trash intro to get the cult-classic ending.

Fragrance Journal Entry #85 Fragrance World did a really good job emulating that A Men signature patchouli that you get from the rest of the line. As the name would suggest this is very malt liquor heavy so you have to be a fan of sharper boozy scents to enjoy this. Woody, spicy, slightly sweet, and very boozy, great masculine fragrance for cooler weather. Due to the performance i've made this more of an indoor cooler weather scent as it fades quick in the wind. While i don't find this fragrance "mass appealing" i don't think it's offensive either. Overall a great buy for the price and very close to the original. Rating: 7.6/10 Blind Buy Safe? NO

So, i've had both this and pure malt. Like everyone else is saying, this is nice to have considering the price of the OG. So this is my opinion; The opening smells pretty much identical to the opening of PM. Heres the thing, PM has this delicious fruitiness on the dry down that lingers behind you as you walk, that people love. This one only has the opening that smells identical, and then that same smell pretty much sticks around during the whole wear. Mayybe a littlleeeee fruitiness but nothing like the OG. Still very nice fragrance for the price. 7.5/10

Clone Time (after 5 months of home maceration) A*men Pure Malt - 99%. Senior, Mature Gentlemen with a dark note. - Niche - smells classy. To wear a dark suite and formal meeting. Smooth. I would keep it in my collection. Performance: 5-7 hours hours Sillage: Arms Length For whom: Gentlemen >40 My background: I only write reviews about scents I have worn already (until the bottle is finished) or are in current use. I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings

I wanna preface by saying that I have let this sit for at least 6 months before doing a review. Since those 6 months, the fragrance has changed and has become much smoother and sweet to my nose. I am enjoying it a lot more now than when i first got it. In the cold weather it shines, I get whiffs of this 7 hours later. If you like fruity flavored whiskey then this is for you. This DNA will not be for everyone however, not a safe blind buy.

For years I kicked myself for not getting a bottle of Pure Malt even gifted it to someone I’m no longer mates with. So when I heard about this a year ago I jumped at it. While I don’t have a bottle or decant from memory it’s at least 80% and really reminds me of why I loved the scent. Very good for compliments I’m almost finished through my bottle and will deffo purchase another 👏🏾

Just received from a Global Internet company beginning with A and ending in N. £15 is just a steal. Been after a bottle of Pure Malt since it was discontinued but I wasn't about to pay all the silly prices on the 2nds market. Belting clone fragrance. I'd say it's about 85-90% similar. Unbelievable value. Definitely get the Whisky, Amber and malty coffee. A big thumbs up from me...👍
