Tragedy

For the price, a fantastic dupe of Penhaligon’s TOLG. Put perfectly by hughturnbull, not as complex but last longer and is stronger than the original.

Nose Note #805 What a beautiful classic mens cologne. It's green, powdery, dry woody, slightly sweet. It is definately a mature fragrance. It's like it has stepped down from the 80-90s and is one foot in the 2010s. Smells high class, haute perfumery, wonderful quality. Mind that these bottles are 80ml, but they are accordingly cheaper. Sunli below said that to him this has no green notes. Well, to me this one is very green and actually sort of rumy. Very very nice. It's not that old school, but it's very mature - 30+ yo for sure 8/10, special and mature UPD 7/10, okay, I've worn 10ml and I really tried to like it, but it's not for me. Longevity is pretty bad. If you overspray, the scent smells terrible for 10-15 seconds. As it dries down it smells a bit old and moldy. I'm getting green vibes from it, I don't get the association with rum. I wonder if Penhaligon's is actually anything close to this. Ultimately I'd say this is unimpressive quality-wise, but for the dirt cheap price you can't complain

Blend 4/5 (lemongrass forward) Uniqueness 3/5 (classic vetiver patchouli citrus) Perceived Quality 3/5 (good not spectacular) Tragedy, to me, smells like Carven Vétiver—a classic cologne that Carven reissued from their 1980s lineup. The biggest difference is that Carven Vétiver dries down into a resinous, olibanum-myrrh-like scent (which is, sadly, synthetic). Matching its green juice color, Tragedy smells like a green, grassy vetiver and patchouli blend. It opens with a strong, citrusy lemongrass note that delivers an early morning punch. I really like the earthy, mossy facets of the vetiver and patchouli that anchor all of those bright top notes. Uniquely, Tragedy also possesses an airy spice and petrichor nuance. It evokes rainy days laced with spice, if that makes any sense. However, I didn't get any of the wood, rum, vanilla, or other notes listed above.

It's a clone of the the Tragedy of Lord George by Penhaligon. I'm not an experienced review, and new to the frag scene, but I can tell you the opening is VERY similar, and the longevity is better. But the smell isn't nearly as complex and doesn't capture the nuance of the original. However, what you are getting for the price is pretty darn good and for people who aren't as experienced like me, I had to spray the original one one arm and the clone on the other in order to notice the difference. I will also say that the clone lasts FAR longer. I'd say that if you love wearing the Tragedy of Lord George by Penhaligon as your signature scent, but you don't want to waste it at a function that you know will be boring or not worth your time, then get this.

It's pretty meh straight from the box, but 2-3 months maceration improves it greatly.
