Unspoken Musk

Sinking into Unspoken Musk is like wrapping yourself in a warm cashmere blanket. Subtle animalics blend seamlessly with hints of sweetness to create a cozy, comforting second skin. The fragrance opens with a prominent wave of animalic notes paired with the herbal, slightly syrupy warmth of immortelle. After about 30 minutes, the scent begins to transform into a beautiful, slightly dirty, yet slightly sweet skin scent. There is a distinct "furriness" to the texture of the composition, though it never becomes overbearing. The best way to describe it is like petting a recently washed, dry kitten, as if a vanilla scented fur lotion was used while you are enjoying a rich caramel dessert nearby. The musk accord evolves constantly across its lifespan. It gradually softens over time, eventually settling into a stable, humming presence on the skin that refuses to fade. Due to the sweetness of the base coupled with that distinctly velvety, furry texture, some may find this composition leaning slightly feminine, though I personally view it as perfectly unisex. It sits close to the skin, creating an intimate aura. However, its longevity is absolutely eternal, remaining highly noticeable on my skin even after the 12-hour mark. This isn't a fragrance I would wear in my day to day life, it is strictly a cozy evening scent, mostly due to the polarizing nature of animalics. It is oddly relaxing, enveloping the wearer in a comforting, warm glow. Francesca Bianchi noted that this fragrance was inspired by the idea of animal musk rather than a literal, realistic interpretation, drawing an inspiration from Frédéric Malle’s masterpiece, Musc Ravageur. Interestingly, I instantly made that exact connection before even hearing her statement, which is fascinating given that the actual smell profiles are nothing alike. I mention this so that those who have smelled Musc Ravageur know to expect something oddly familiar, yet very distant. This was my very first introduction to Francesca Bianchi's work, and it has completely intrigued me. I will definitely be ordering a discovery set to explore the house further.

I really liked it. Animalic (Captain Obvious at your service). Yesterday from my hand I could feel some kind of note, it's hard to describe it, but the closest analogy is hot popcorn. And of course immortelle. Thanks to Francesca, I fell in love with the note of honey and especially beeswax, now it's probably immortelle's turn. Yesterday from my hand it seemed very hot and so testosterone-heavy at first. Not in the sense that it's purely for men, but what (I hate this cliché) is called sexy. After 2-3 hours it became very soft, gentle, and seductive. Today in the sillage I don't feel the nuances anymore, the wind is too strong, but damn, it is f***ing awesome! It will definitely enter the top 5 of my favorite Francesca fragrances. This is the 12th one of those I've tried and the 13th one is in my collection. In general, today in the sillage it was very good. In my opinion, all of Francesca's fragrances are... soft. And this one is no exception. Those who were interested in but disappointed by Muscs Koublai Khan should try this one. Yes, in the comments I saw things like urine, poop... well, not on my skin, neither during the hand test nor in the sillage. Color of the fragrance: brownish-red, red amber.

In based on the sample: This is beautiful, very pleasant musk covered with honey like sweetness. This is one of the easiest scent from FB and it's quite linear as well but in the same time it's so soft and subtle that I barely can smell it after an opening. That doesn’t bother me at all, I love some skin scents but the longevity is the problem at least on my skin. I tried this for days and always the same problem, I barely smell it after 30-60 minutes. Iris is hidden bringing only a powdery feel. Animalic notes are tamed and very easily approachable. This doesn't have the sensual and sexy character that many musky fragrances usually have, but this one is cozy and pampering, enveloping. I would say that if you don’t like FB perfumes there is a chance that you like this one. I wanted to buy this so badly but the bottle would be quickly finished because I should respray all the time. Anyway, I highly recommend you to try this, if it stays longer on your skin, it’s more than perfect sweet "better than your skin" musk. Unspoken Musk is inspired by the idea of natural animal musks which have had humans in a chokehold since the dawn of ancient perfumery, but does not aim to accurately replicate the scent of natural musk. Instead, it embodies the idea of what musk is and the imaginative suggestions it may bring to one’s mind. The overall scent is quite bright surprisingly, with a refreshing hesperidic facet coming from bergamot, complimented by aromatic clean florals such as Imortelle, magnolia and orris. The musk comes in the form of clean, synthetic musks primarily, backed up by a strong whisper of castoreum and civet to give it some edge. All of which rests on a soft, sweet and creamy base of sandalwood, tonka and vanilla - pairing with human skin perfectly. In the beginning, the combination of the clean freshness with the animal notes comes across as what can only be described as a urinal cake. Thankfully, this is short lived and soon the slightly urinous aspect of the civet leans into the sweetness of the base much better. This is definitely one you cannot judge fairly from a strip, it has to be given a chance to take you on it’s full journey.

Francesca newbies: A dirty musk, when I say dirty I don't mean mud/earth/barnyard, but sex and skunk. This mellows after a few minutes to animalic musk. The immortelle is lending some salty/green sweetness to the primary notes of musk and castoreum. Very dense, I imagine this is orris rather than iris giving a bit of starchy, clay-like texture. Francesca fans: This is The Lover's Tale Light/Legere, to my nose. I see other voters disagree, but definitely flanker territory to me, which is fine because I appreciate the original. There is less barnyard here, instead a little of the mature sweetness from Lost in Heaven, a little of the romantic fizziness from Angel's Dust, and a touch more skank like the opening of Luxe Calme Volumpte. I did not like LCV and similarly I don't love the opening here (but it does fade quickly). Update: I now prefer this to The Lover's Tale, which is a sledgehammer compared to this. I appreciate the subtlety and nuance here. But still, who are all these people voting down the similarity to The Lover's Tale??? Mind-boggling. This does not resemble Lost In Heaven like the votes suggest.

I find this stunningly beautiful but in the sexiest of ways. To me, Unspoken Musk's opening is very reminiscent of The Lover's Tale, but the skank settles after about 15 minutes. What develops is the most enticingly sexy mix of animalistic musk and Iris, but all the other notes are harmonised perfectly with a little hint of sweetness from the Magnolia. I think it is on a level of carnality alongside Papillon's Salome, although I'd class Unspoken Musk as Salome's refined yet alluring younger sister. I think it is a fragrance that you really must devote some time to. Like all of Francesca's creations, you must live with them over time to truly understand their complexities. You cannot just spray once, recoil in horror and 'scrub' it off. No sir. Like a beautiful woman, she demands your attention over the coming days, weeks and months. I don't just love Unspoken Musk, I adore it. She lasts for a whole day and night on the skin and longer in your hair. The greatest part is getting a swish of her from your hair when you think she has disappeared. Glorious stuff.

Starts off with a blast that is almost animal urine in its sharp muskiness but quickly settles down into one of the most wonderful, addictive, sensual musks mixed with the sweetness of tonka, vanilla, and a solid dose of patchouli without patchouli becoming the central focus like it is in Bianchi's Sticky Fingers. Somehow, despite the sweetness, it never becomes cloying for me. The gorgeous powdery drydown reminds me of the dusty muskiness of my beloved original Dior Dune before the reformulation but slightly sweeter, less dry, and lighter in sillage, and I'm totally here for it. This is a love for me, and the picky husband agrees. I can't stop smelling my wrists hours later. Also seeing the connection to Under My Skin and Lost in Heaven. Unspoken Musk is the more restrained, intimate, less overtly sexed-up out of the three and the easiest to wear for all occasions. As is the case with most, if not all, of Bianchi's offerings, it's still very sexy stuff. Two thumbs up!

Beautiful dirt... I get that sweat dirty yet masculine smell of a badass English lad in his early 20s. A soccer lover who enjoys playing soccer in rain with his mates. Dunno why, but i imagine this very english and suits english lads somehow. I get the civet in hazy mode, with magnolia, slight sweet musk mingled with immortelle, a touch of cypriol and castoreum for an extra hint of dirty note, powdered sandalwood, and a sprits of powdered patchouli. This is dirty sweet sexy blend, & i believe it's for those who wants to wear a perfume & at the same time wants to be around people who hates, dislike, or don't like perfumes BUT you should like animalics of course :) In short.. you love animalics, and you want a sexy blend that shows the dark side of you & a scents that smells naturally as your skin scent when you (KIND OF) sweat when you about to meet someone don't like scents & you want to impress! Kinky... isn't it :p Beautiful Scent Indeed.

My first Francesca Bianchi perfume. Instant love! This radiates warmth and gentle memories of smelling my newborn nephew’s sun warmed head. It has the civet and castoreum, but the immortelle and signature Bianchi composition run through it. It ends up (after several hours) progressing to a “my skin but better” scent. Very strong for being an Extrait. Sillage and longevity are superb! I can smell this on clothing the next several days. It lasted 12 hours on my skin and this is without having to bury my nose in my arm. There is a maple syrup vibe in the drydown, however not in a sugary way. It’s deep, warm, and comforting like an embrace from a love one who always smiles. Definitely recommend! I don’t get pissy from this, however the animalic notes are very natural and intimate. Francesca is an emotive perfumer and she accomplished creating what is now one of my all time favorite musk scents! Very impressed! Brava Francesca!!

Unspoken Musk is the scent of tension. The things we don't say. It's the essence of several unrequited crushes liquified. It's the scent of interiors. The inside of their mouths when they talk near you. The inside of their cars when they give you a ride home, scented with bodily aroma and chewing gum. The inside of a bathroom where he'd shave, but where his grandmother's floral perfume also mingled (she raised him, and he took care of her). The inner record sleeve, papery, spiced with age, and slightly bent around the edges with repeated handling from warm fingertips. The scent itself is an alluring dichotomy. One side is a gentle fougere--slightly minty. The other side is the iris and magnolia, giving the vibe of a vintage perfume. The base reveals itself in about two hours, and it is that addictive, salty-skin, balsamic signature that I notice in other Bianchi fragrances. Mmm. Delicious.

A sensual and intimate musc with a melancolic feeling that soothes and envelopes more tender souls. I love this tenderness. It's alluring, sensous and the overall impression is sexy, but a "comfortable in your own skin"-kind of sexy. It opens up musky and animalic, but not in a way as overtly sexual as some of Francesca's other offerings. The dry down is more about the immortelle and iris and they are so beautiful in this one. I recently discovered how much I love immortelle and this is no exception. The immortelle softens the coldness of iris and makes way for a base of pure warmth with lots of tonka, vanilla and sandalwood. One thing I find intriquing - and also very different about this one - is you get more of the notes from the base as it opens up and next to no animalics in the dry down itself. Overall Unspoken Musc is stunning and a wonderful wear on colder days.

The opening of Unspoken is dirty, damp and atmospheric. If this were in a lineup of musk scents, I believe I could pick this out as a Francesca Bianchi perfume; her signature is easily recognized. Musk scents in general are polarizing. I find this one easy to wear—easier than Papillons Salome but not as easy as Miller Harris’s L’air de Rien. Like all musks on my skin, they feel vintage. For me I’m taken back to the late 60s and early 70s. If anyone else experiences this, I would love to know if you have a theory as to why this happens? Anyway, back to Unspoken Musk. Clearly my favorite part of this perfume is the dry down; here it becomes softer with a dominant vanilla and tonka in the base. I can’t remember the last time I wore a musk that did a 180* turn, so it’s unique, and I like this surprise ending.

I'll call this Bianchi light. Has that signature base just lighter and airy, not animalic even with the civet and castorum. This has a citric opening, with a greenish Twinge, that somewhat lasts to the drydown but is never in the forefront. Lasts all work day and then some. This is definitely work appropriate, unless someone at work is sensitive to even the slightest scent. Edit: forgot to mention outdoor work which is what i do, in an office 2 sprays are enough. 7/18/23 Eternal longevity sprayed on a card when i first got it, maybe a week or so before the review here, and its still there on the card but it is just immortel, musk, and a slight citrus. Edit maybe more of just a sweet scent after so long.

I am looking at the notes I wrote for this one and I wrote "poopy dollhead." And that's exactly this; a little plasticky, a little lipsticky... a la dollhead, covered in something warmly and dankly animalic. It's fecal and angelic at once, a duality I observice in a lot of Bianchi's creations. Balsamic, resinous, sticky and sappy poopy and animalic plasticky chalky makeupy fruity Like Baby All Gone (that doll you used to feed cherries to) while she's potty training. The drydown is distinctly sweet and plasticky; it loses most of the fecal quality I get in the opening, while still feeling ambery, warm, and sappy. Love it.

Perfect in cooler weather, sweetens with age a little, definitely borderline animalic but (I think) delicate and dusty enough to feel like warm skin, not urinal cake. Resembles a dialled-down slightly flatter & sweeter version of Under My Skin, which is ideal for me because although I really loved the very top notes of UMS, the loud and endless drydown was not my jam. UM also has elements of Angel's Dust, but again is less pink-marabou-and-icing-sugar than that one, more unisex. I don't know if it really counts as a musk, but if so then it's the first one I'm happy to wear for days on end.

This is my first Francesca Bianchi fragrance and following her career for a few years, I took a leap and blind bought a bottle of this. Wearing it for the first time now and it’s a risk that paid off for me. I can’t say I can sense all its notes but the overall impression is something that seems instantly familiar and incredibly cozy. Musky? Sure. Animalic? Maybe a bit. Sensual? Absolutely. There’s also some powder but it’s not an overdose - the powder-phobic need not worry, it’s likely the iris and magnolia, lending a luxurious feel.

Bought this based on reviews since it's not included in my discovery set. Sprayed straight out of the box and thought this was the first FB that I hated and I got the heavy animalic/poopy notes. Put it back in box and planned to try again in a month, then list on ebay. Well, today I sprayed again and my GOD, I love this. It's possibly my favorite FB! What happened? Did it actually macerate and change or did my nose change? Waxy and powdery, immortelle, dried straw flowers and honey. This is so beautiful and signature fragrance-worthy.

I am started to believe I will end up buying all of Francescas lovely scents. It's another winner for me. It has impressive longevity and reasonable sillage in an 8 degree room. It's sexy, warm and enduring. I'm a vegetarian so my experience is of course subjective. I don't smell anything very animalistic at all. No pee! I do detect lots of immortalise, suede and leather. If you are in a passionate relationship then this smells of sex. One to buy your lover. It's modern and not cloying. You will be fighting them off!

Not fecal at all, not even pissy. Its quite sikilar tò the chanle n5 but with the castoreum that gives a depthness that makes It perfect. The civet Is quite similar tò old vintage style frag like kouros and n5. Nothing like an extra animalic civet like "rook by rook 2020 edp". Also remembers me of a vanilla candle. 9/10. Longevity Is enormous, on the Palm of your hand makes you go nose blind, so also sillage Is potent. A more evocative phrase Is, the smell of a cimitery trip with grandma in the car.

First Impression: new to the brand. Initially, I got a hit of dirty diaper from the hyrax and beaver juice, but that quickly dissipated and I was left with an impressive musk. Slightly sweet, soft, with enough musky animalics to keep it interesting, with sandalwood, iris, and a touch of vanilla to keep it smooth. Seems to work well with my skin chemistry. Doesn't seem to project a ton but longevity seems slightly above average so far. Like this one a lot.

Have worn this a few days now, and it grows on me. The first day I wore it, the skunky opening was a bit hard to take, but it fades away quite quick. I own many of her other creations and it is her dna all over it. I think it has a resemblance with Lost in heaven, and it doesnt hit you as hard as The lovers Tale, which I own, but feel is way too much. It is an intimate scent in a way, warm and sexy and suitable for fall. I like it a lot.

Sweet, vanillic almost honeyed musk. Very animalic especially in the beginning - you have to like animalic notes, to someone it could smell pissy! - it slowly turns smooth with powdery sandalwood and tonka, with soft iris and magnolia petals. It almost smells like a cookie made out of musk! Velvety, it's extremely sexy but also a very comforting scent.

I love this! The tamest from her collection. If like me you enjoy Under My Skin you will most likely enjoy this one as well. Reminds me of a French boutique scent: powdery Iris hint of white floral and suede like smooth leather. The leather is restrained here. Refined and gorge. I don’t get any animalic note at all...thank goodnesss!

Very citrusy opening that reminds of Bergamask by Orto Parisi. Then the Iris comes in + animalici notes and strong musk. The duo iris and musk is in my opinion great, making musk very contemporary and wearable. In the drydown (2-3 hours) I don't get very much musk but a lot of Iris and Vanilla. I like it.

Beautiful Musk with lots of Iris, Tonka, & Vanilla. Similar to Under My Skin which was my first from this house, but with a better opening (less dirty, more citrusy). Lasts a while on skin too when I thought I couldn’t smell it anymore on my wrist it always came back stronger. Dry down is amazing!

oh wow wow wow wowowowowoooowowow. just wow after a few wearings, i feel that this is the most comforting fb together with encounters (move aside luxe calme volupte - u are more voluptuous than calming lol). it makes u wanna cuddle up with someone and just be in bed for a long, long time

Just writing another review to praise this beautiful perfume! I'm so glad the off putting poopish note burned off after a little maceration. This musky, vanilla/tonka and rooty iris scent is heavenly. Smells like a perfume version of warm carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

sweet, soft, and shy, like the fluffiest cat purring itself to sleep on your lap. she may be demure but she still makes a presence - sometimes even for days at a time! she's the most perfect musk i could ever imagine. the scent of my dreams ♡

Musky sweetness. If a fragrance could feel like a warm, comforting blanket (but somehow still pretty sexy), this would be it to me. More of an easy wear/reach than other Francesca Bianchi creations to me, but by no means boring.

Sweet musky animalic iris. Very sexy and delicious. Has the Francesca Bianchi stamp all over it, but more wearable and subtle than something like The Lover’s Tale. I absolutely love it.

Instant love. Holy angelic natural-smelling musky cookies. Very: let me stress: VERY sweet but i am ok with that. Dont come looking for this if you’re not a sweet tooth.

Animalic musk done right. The iris, vanilla and tonka bean create this sweet, powdery accord that balances out the deep animalic opening. Another slam dunk by this house

After several testing, i bought this. Certainly it’s not in my top favorites from Francesca Bianchi but it’s still worth having. For my taste, it should be less sweet and more animalic. It is a sweet, heavy and warm, powdery, smooth and slightly animalic scent. Surely it’s sensual and rich like all Francesca Bianchi fragrances. I was just hoping that i get more of civet and castoreum.My expectations from a musk base fragrance created by Francesca Bianchi was high... though this is nice but it’s not great. Maybe the best thing about it is that it’s not a clean musk and its versatile. Performance is excellent. 8/10 In the hush between heartbeats, Where warmth pools low and quiet breaths entwine, It rises, Unspoken Musk, not called... but felt. Civet hums, a pulse in the dark. Warmth on fur... a body that knows no shame. Castoreum follows, deep as earth after rain, A scent that clings not to air... but memory. And there she is, the woman in moonlit stillness Like a doe at midnight edge of wood: alert, alive. Her skin remembers every touch it's ever known... And this perfume? It doesn't speak, it answers. No confession needed. No vow pronounced aloud. For what passes here, in glances slow and hands held down. Is written in musk: raw truth wrapped in silk... Unspoken... yet known all along beneath my skin.

I get very strong stale cat piss on the opening. Powdery sweet piss. Don't get me wrong I love animalic musks, civet and castoreum. I love some skank too. But this one went to piss on me. I still find it quite intriguing and am mesmerized by its vintage style. It's complex and dense. I agree that it wears inverted on the notes pyramid with heavier notes up front, fading to lightness until most notes fade out. I will keep trying this and see where it ends up for me. But for now I would not wear it around others as it would seem to offend most. This is unique enough that I definitely want to try other Francesca Bianchis. Update- ok, I've tried this again, less pee smell in opening, more immortelle. It's sweet, hazy, hay-like. Kind of maple syrup, resinous smoky and animalic. It's interesting for sure. Still not something I feel others around me would enjoy, but fun when you want a different fragrance experience.

A more masculine (and less interesting) Lost in Heaven is probably a good short description. You get the buttery amber you get in other FB fragrances and it shares some of the animalic aspect of Lost in Heaven along with sweetness and spice. It differentiates itself with a very slight animalic civet and a stronger woody iris like you might get in a Dior Homme flanker and a good dose of sweetness but "starchiness" and waxy quality from the tonka. If you like the usual FB fragrance dna you will proabably enjoy, but it is covering some old ground again and I'm getting a bit tired of that myself. How about something completely new?

Quoting my boyfriend: "it's modern grandma. Grandma-core". Sweet, sweet, sweet musk which i LOVE. Gooey, rich iris. The bergamot gives it a bright punch to not bring it down too much. I think for me this can be a daily work scent, although i'll probably keep it for those important meetings. I'm discovering Francesca Bianchi's catalogue and I'm loving it so far. I guess I love animalics or can't really differentiate it into their individual pissy note. So glad!

I received a sample last week and now have a full bottle. I have given this 2 full wears. I will say that this type of musk is very different in terms of initio musk therapy or kayali musk. Musk is my favorite scent profile but this is my first musk that smells really musky and animalic especially the first blast. Then it dries down relatively sweet. 100 percent unisex. To my nose does not lean one particular way. I am happy to have it in my collection.

Definitely not for faint-hearted people, sample is a must before purchasing full bottle even though you already familiar with Francesca her work. This is very intimate, sensual fragrance thanks to its overdosed musky scent but honestly I can't rock this perfume on its own, it's sexy but pissy to my nose. However, it's super gorgeous for layering - slap it on top of very woody or ambery fragrance whew! the result is super fascinating.

This has the iris/leather/musk accord running through most of Francesca Bianchi's line. To this is added a clean musk (which ironically makes it smell more dirty) and something of the florals of Lost in Heaven. Not my favorite but quite pleasant after the first hour. It feels like it hits that sweet amber drydown sooner than other FB. My favorites continue to be Under My Skin, Etruscan Water, Black Knight, and Angel Dust.

First of all, I want to say that I have no idea what the other reviewers are writing about when they're accusing this of being poopy, animal urine, wet dog, baby puke, or gross bodily fluids. Musk is my favorite fragrance note, and this one is handled so sweetly. I'm loving how the iris, immortelle, and magnolia are keeping the musk, catoreum, and civet smooth, along with vanilla, tonka, and sandalwood. This is not a dirty musk, it's one that plays soft and gentle, warm and creamy. It's a bit powdery, which usually is a NO from me, but here it adds to the tenderness. Lovely and FBW!

Never ending gingerbread. Francesca Bianchi fragrances are not for the timid! Unspoken Musk, like her other fragrances, comes on strong and confident at first spray. It's really a reminder of how fragrances used to be. On me (this is in cold weather) what I get for 24 hours is Speculoos/ Biscoff cookies. I know that has to do mainly with the immortelle, a note I don't love but I don't hate here. At one time there is also some cold tobacco notes but for me it is mainly spicy, sweet and buttery. As per usual with FB, one spray is enough and lasts forever.

Such a forgettable clean musk to be honest. I cant believe the asking price here. A close replacement would be Lattafa Pure Musk, yes "Lattafa Pure Musk". I was so waiting for the castoreum and civet to show face..... Absolutely nothing, just clean white musks and some sweetness. I would not recommend this if you are looking for something animalic or masculine. Under my skin is miles better. This could be good for layering though. I'll try with a few fragrances and report back.

Powdery, ultra long lasting iris and immortelle. This is not heavy animalic, even the non-animalic musks are subtle. It doesn’t smell like skin to me at all. Maybe I’m anosmic? As I hear is typical for Bianchi perfumes it smells like natural orris butter was used liberally. It’s heavier on the vanilla and tonka than I’d like and is fairly sweet overall. Not for me but high quality nevertheless. It makes me want to sample more Bianchi fragrances.

Animal piss and shit, really intense and pungent, with a sweet, sugary undertone. Took a LONG time for the stank to dissipate on the dry down and then the drydown was nice but rather forgettable. I should probably test it a few more times but also the piss stink was so strong and pungent and confirmed by two other people who smelled it on me that I'm pretty strongly turned off already.

I was so looking forward to this fragrance. I’m on a hunt for the perfect musk for ages. Unfortunately I don’t get any musk on my skin at all. Just a civet that smells like pee exposed to the sunlight and gardenia I don’t like. What a shame.
