حينما تدكر فرانسيسكو سمالطو في المملكة المغربية تجده مألوفا لأنه وبكل بساطة مصمم الأزياء العالمي الإيطالي الدي كان مفضلا ومقربا عند الملك الراحل الحسن الثاني . رجل الموضة بامتياز كبير هذا الذي عرف بعشقه للمغرب الى ان توفي فيه ، له أيضا صيت كبير في مجال العطور رغم انها تعد على رؤس الاصابع . وكما يقول المثل الشهير << يوجد في النهر ما لا يوجد في البحر >>! نعم ، إن العنوان البارز لعطور فرانسيسكو سمالطو الرجالية هو الأناقة تماما كأناقة تصاميمه في اللباس ! أن تتردي بدلة من إبداع هذا المصمم الإيطالي هو بنفس الجمال حينما ترتدي عطرا من عطوره . بدأت تجربتي مع عطور سمالطو في بداية التسعينات مع عطره الاول فرانسيسكو سمالطو بور اوم صاحب العلبة الزرقاء الذي ظهر في سنة 1987، وكم كانت اللحظات حينها جد جميلة مع هذا العطر ؟ أما العطر موضوع الحديث اليوم فرانسيسكو سمالطو فور مان فإنه صدر سنة 1998 وينتمي إلى مجموعة عطور الأروماتيك فوجير ، والأنف وراء هذا للسيد بيير بوردون. مكونات العطر من الرأس الى القاعدة حسب انفي يبدأ العطر بضهور مكون لافاندار والبرغموت وبسرعة يضهر البابونج والعسل الابيض بشكل واضح ويلتحق بهم طحلب السنديان كذلك ملحوض والذي لايمكن لي انفي أن يخطئه ولمحة خفيفة من خشب الصندل اما باقي المكونات فعلت دورها في الخفاء بشكل جيد الراتنج وعشبة الشيبة والفانيلا والتونكا . حسب تجربتي مع العطر فهو يجمع بين الكلاسيكية والحداثة والسر في ذالك هو وجود مكون العسل الابيض مع البابونج ووجود هذا الأخير في العطر جعل رائحته مهدئة للنفس وتبعث على السكينة والارتياح . وأقول لكم أنه منذ صدور هذا العطر سنة 1998 ، لم يطرأ عليه مايخدش نقائه وجودته بالإضافة الى ان رائحته ضلت متميزة ولاتشبه أي عطر ، جيد في الثبات الفوحان خصوصا في الأجواء الباردة والعمتدلة . عطر فرانسيسكو فور مان صديق الخرجات المسائية والمناسبات السعيدة ويناسب أكثر اجتماعات العمل ، العشائات خارج البيت ، استقبالات .... وفي رأيي ، يناسب هذا العطر البدلات الكلاسيكية والرسمية اكثر من اللباس الرياضي ، فعندما تجمع بين العطر واللباس الكلاسيكي يصبح هذا العطر ملكيا ! عطور فرانسيسكو سمالطو اصبحت مع الأسف نادرة الوجود في المحلات التجارية المتخصصة ، الا انه في المغرب وبسبب كثرة الطلب عليه تجده موفرا بين الفينة والأخرى . جودته أفضل من كثير من بعض عطور النيش

I have a vintage Smalto bottle since two years ago and find it completely fascinating. Though I usually find chamomile very appealing, here is challenging, dark, resinous... I picture it as a black chamomile, which is a quite perverse idea since chamomile is the flower of childhood, the flower of innocence. The smell is supercohesive, the sweeter notes contribute to balance the roughness of the green ones giving a generally balsamic feel. No incense, nor smoke, nor woodyness, nor amber here, only a surprisingly virile flower in a dark-green bouquet, that maybe could be borrowed by a woman. Paco Rabanne pour Homme might be the kind/easy side of Smalto: oakmoss, lavender and honey standing out in a more airy and sweet composition... Smalto is not so easy perfume at all. Recently a workmate gave me another clue... captivated by the close-to-Smalto smell she irradiated, I asked her what she was wearing thinking "what a daring woman wearing Smalto", and she answered: Clinique Aromatics Elixir. Here you have it: the perfect feminine counterpoint to definitely meet the intriguing Smalto.

I personally found it very nice. the scent starts to settle in about 3-5 minutes after spraying. the first opening was not very pleasant but after that it is really nice. It will be a little bit strange, but this scent smells like a very kind man who runs a tea shop in the 90's, a smiling man in a green coat, 35 years old, with a light beard and glasses. If we focus a little more on the scent, it is a nostalgic scent. I can say that it is a very herbal scent, it smells of full of herbal tea. Although it does not perform very well in winter or outdoors, it is a fragrance that can be used in spring and fall. it is a daily fragrance that can be used everywhere except special meetings and serious events. I wanted to try the perfume when I saw it for the first time and the first time I tried it, I didn't like the smell as much as I do now. It was on sale and it was about 5 dollars. I wanted to try it and it's 100% worth it. sillage: 6/10. in terms of longevity, it lasts 4-5 hours Price: 10/10 overall: 8/10

I bought this by mistake thinking it was Francesco Smalto. Well it was a good mistake because this is everything I like in a cold weather fragrance... Woody, masculine, manly floral, fresh, unique and memorable. There is nothing that smells like it, not even close in my 200 bottle fragrance collection. I initially bought this for autumn, but after a few wearings I see it much better in cold days of winter. There is a note in it that is extremely uplifting, inspires my mind and clears my sinuses - literally! It's almost like the effect of a menthol note but it doesn't smell like menthol, if that makes sense. This fragrance has enormous sillage so go light on the trigger. I can see this as a love-hate kind of fragrance, it's definitely not for everybody, and I can see some people reacting very negatively because of that sinus clearing note. As for me, I love it! Pure class and ideal for a gentlemen on special occasions on cold days. In the summer heat this would be lethal and way out of place!

When I saw that the two most-voted notes in this were chamomile and wormwood, I knew I had to spring on a bottle (already being a fan of Francesco Smalto Pour Homme). This is just spectacular; my nose can detect some high-quality perfume materials went into this, and the roman chamomile and wormwood (absinthe) are evident just a couple minutes after the bracing lavender and bergamot fan fare. As it dries into the heart, yet another favorite note, honey, makes itself known, not unlike that of Boss Original (later known as Number One). However, the contrast of the honey and the aromatics set it apart, adding interest and really stimulating the nose. Also, dig that fuzzy velour box it comes in... This is unsung olfactory brilliance.

I had my eye on this one for quite some time but never had a chance to try it, once I finally did, I was charmed. Absolutely not what I had expected, Smalto really surprised me with its unusual development. It starts with strong bitter-sweet bergamot and lavender, retro and very masculine. Slowly, the scent warms up as the sweet-spicy honey becomes quite apparent. Not sure if its the chamomile in this combination, but I smell jasmine, and here Smalto reminds me a bit of Givenchy's Ysatis-definitely unisex and elegant. Sweet, warm, floral-woody with a hint of old leather in the drydown; the whole thing just really works for me.

I got this before my first trip to London in 2011... now I cannot separate the memory from the scent. To me it smells like sophistication even though I got it at a place that had the huge Caron Pour Un Homme bottle at $35. Have been buying whatever is left out there as soon as I run out. Won't speak to the notes because that is useless as each nose is different, but I will speak to the emotions it provokes and to me it gives me all the confidence that whenever I wear it, no one else is gonna smell like me.

Smalto, is a really nice, is a rich, elegant, and sophisticated perfume, last over 8 hours on my skin, and leave a unique smell on my clothes. this is for those moment that you always remember for lifetime. just love it.

My previous review has typing mistake. Very very underrated parfume, longlasting as an eau de parfum. A perfect Woody floral with great sillage, sophisticated and casual both. a compliment each time you wear it !

A fantastic and unique gem of a fragrance! I don't have anything in my wardrobe to compare it to but it's pure class and refinement. It feels like something you would wear for drinks on the yacht.

While this perfume was drying, my memory made me feel something familiar. When thinking about which perfume, Declaration essence is close to this scent. Both are wonderful scents.

Very elegant and unique with longlasting. This classical Smalto is difficult to find in France today. A particular flowery not for man.

Heinrich_B and smuzoperator both nailed it unmistakable Insense and the wormwood 9/10 logevity about 4 hours on me.

This is a gem for 30+ İ has smelled nothing like smalto. Sweet and herbaly. Long lasting and great value.

If you like Drakkar Noir , you will like this the wormwood gives character to both. BUT they are different. If you look up wormwood it says absinthe/vermouth but here is very different more like spicy/boozy to my nose -no licorice. DN has a standout mint like addition here it is the chamomille. I wouldn't have figured it out alone, but I get the Insense comparison. Nothing like Zino or TdH to me.

All I can smell is the lavender. Update after a year -> lavender still remains (to my nose) the main note. After a while the tonka beans and wormwood get noticeable and give it a warm feeling.

I think I have a reformulated version. The bottle and box look the same, but it is 50 mls. The fragrance is very leathery and doesn't smell any thing like other reviews here. Although there is a hint of lavendar. Stay away... Lasts an hour or two and very linear.

Wormwood is crying for attention here at the expense of other notes. It was a blind buy because of chamomile and a mistake because of wormwood.

I first tried this as a dab sample from a 100 ml bottle. At the time, perhaps two years ago, I felt that the the notes didn't work well together, and it came across as a clash. However, I went back to it a couple of times over the next year or so because I did think the ingredient quality seemed good. Eventually, I realized that this was a low-cost alternative to Ungaro I, in the sense that if you like a dominant lavender/wormwood accord it might be just fine (though you would have to use more of the Smalto to get the effect you do in the Ungaro scent). It does have a bit of a balmy quality, so if you hate the idea of smelling like a body rub (I've read this in more than a few reviews) this is probably one to avoid. UDPATE: I seem to be appreciating this one more lately. The ingredient quality seems very good and it has a kind of dry, woody, herbal, "rustic" quality to go along with the anise/absinthe type note, creating a niche-like effect, though of course it was released before people started to talk about "niche" scents. The balmy quality reins it in somewhat over time, but if you can get it cheap I think it's worth owning just for the ingredient quality alone (considering the restrictions that now make such a scent impossible to produce by major companies, from what I understand). UPDATE #2: Response to rienzope's idea that 50 ml bottles are weaker. I obtained a 50 ml bottle and thought this was the case at first. The top notes have strong lavender (of what I call a shrill variety), and I think that causes olfactory fatigue. So, I decanted some into a dab vial and waited a couple weeks. Then I dabbed on more than usual (to the chest) and blew on the area to get rid of the top notes quickly. Sure enough, that worked and it now smells like the dab vial I obtained first (which came from a 100 ml bottle).

Herbal, bitter, boozy, sweet and extremely polished... This thing is a steal. 30ml for less than 10 usd, this is one of the best prices I have ever seen. Opening is dominated by Absinthe and 80's classic barbershop lavender, dries down to sweet resins and chamomile and ends with tonka bean. I do not get Honey note, but possibility of mistaking Honey's sweetness as resins could be possible. Lasts long for an EDT, Projection is average. In the same genre but different than Zino, Obsession, Drakkar Noir, Versace L Homme and Azzaro Pour Homme. Highly Recomended for the fans of the barbershop genre.

Smalto Francesco gives a 1980-90s style atmosphere, and when first squeezed, it gives an animalistic atmosphere, like Davidoff Zino, a classic that I love very much. This first opening is a bit strong. Afterwards, it calms down and notes of lavender, wormwood and honey emerge, a perfume that reveals itself on cold days. I think it is a good option for men over 35+. Noticeability (silage) is average, longevity is good in this perfume. Nice for an Edt.

It opens strong and acrid. But just for 5 minutes. It then starts to feel creamy and with a Givenchy insense resemblance, all covered in a pencil shave smell. This is not a fresh fragrance, It feels stuffed, creamy and aromatic. People around me liked It. It is a perfect all year day to day scent, You can wear this wherever except the gym, and put a good strong display with It. It performs well.

Unique , rich , sophisticated & resembles nothing i have ever smelt .. Incredible , this took my attention after the first wearing . Deserves to be highly spoken of in decades to come . Plenty of supercheap bottles available for the blind buyers .
