Addiction

Today, I’m wearing this wonderful tuberose 😊. There was a time when I was sure tuberose wasn’t for me, but I somehow ended up with a few in my collection. I’d say that the brand F. Boclet, including this fragrance, is unfairly underrated. It has a beautiful transformation—from a fresh green tuberose, it softens nicely on my skin into a slightly sweet, mentholated tuberose. The opening is very similar to Carnal Flower by F. Malle, but for me, Addiction is a much more wearable scent.

I had Cocaine briefly; it was a little too foody + shrill bubblegum for me. Granted, this still has the exact same shrill, sweet bubblegum "tuberose"....but apparently dumping in a hefty serving of bitter galbanum is what I was missing. (I also don't find this anything like carnal flower, but it does have an herbal-greenish and tuberose listed as a note I guess?)

Love at first spray! Very similar to Organza but this is more modernized and still definitely mature. Tuberose is very dominant in here. With vanilla and sandalwood it’s such a comforting, warm scent. I definitely love it. Too bad that it’s very mature for my age.

A tuberose-centered fragrance that surprisingly finds a delicate balance between greenery and sweetness. The opening begins with the bitter sharpness of galbanum. It’s a very direct scent, almost provocative—like a stroke of deep green paint brushed across the senses. Clean, but with a slightly cold, vegetal edge. It’s a striking start, though it also sets the tone for the whole composition: this is not a fragrance that tries to please everyone. As the scent moves into the heart, tuberose takes the lead. Its rich, creamy sweetness becomes fully apparent, almost reminiscent of bubble gum wrapped in a soft, milky texture. The interesting part is that it never feels cheap or overly sugary. That said, anyone who doesn’t enjoy sweeter white florals might find it a bit overwhelming. In the drydown, vanilla and sandalwood soften the composition, smoothing out the earlier sharpness and sweetness. The warm woodiness makes the finish easier to wear. Overall, the development isn’t particularly complex; it feels more like a continuation of the earlier stages. For those who enjoy the combination of green notes and white florals—especially a slightly vintage-leaning tuberose—it’s very appealing. Projection is good, though longevity on skin is somewhat short. On clothing it lasts longer.

my coworker gifted me a big plastic baggie of testers that she didn't wear anymore-- i wonder if she took my interest as an opportunity to pawn off a bunch of unsavory samples on me. along with a totally-empty vial of Bianco Latte (why even give that to me? so I can smell the cap and fantasize about what i'm missing?) and a handful of unlabeled plastic Nordstrom testers there was Addiction. this perfume smells like walking through the reception of a dentist's office after getting a cavity filled. needles and fragrant chemicals. floral room spray in the cold air to mask the lingering, bitter smell of iodine and nitrile. i'm wary of it because of my sensitivity to strong fragrances, especially florals. But, i keep coming back to it, working up the courage..
