Wow! I'm not sure what to think of this one yet. This is a fragrance of a Shalimar-level complexity. No... I haven't said that it smells like Shalimar (although some elements are there). It's an ambiguous/borderline fragrance... Rose forward, with a lot of sweetness created by the florals and a strong vanillic presence, that may give an impression of cherries, cinnamon and possibly apricots... but I hate cinnamon and apricots, and here, I have my nose stuck to my arm since 30min... Animalics present but not dominant. That may sounds feminine, but no, it's more complicated... the rose is very tart/sour (reminding me vaguely of JSP Smolderose), the cloves and the patchouli are clearly present to keep things in the masculine territory. Good projection on my skin with extrait concentration (60%abv!!!) It's the first time I am hesitating on my review, and feel that I will need several more wearings to tame the beast... the first time I feel that the fragrance is wearing me. Like for the previous reviewer, I will update in a few wearings. One thing is sure: not a safe blind buy (too bad, Boclet testers are very hard to locate...) Update: A tango of citric rose and civet, supported by cloves, patchouli, a hint of benzoin and a bunch of hardly identifiable notes. Quite unique and complex. Is it well balanced? The jury is still out on that one...

Now, this good people is a gem! I purchased this last Christmas, having tried a sample earlier and this is just heaven in a bottle. Six months ago this brand was completely unknown to me, but as they say: "Good things come to those who wait", and boy have I waited for a fragrance like this! So then, on to my final thoughts, scent profile: Labdanum, Amber, Musk, Castoreum, Rose and Ylang-Ylang in abundance. This is what I get from the very get go, until the very last whaft. Projects like a wild stallion for the first three hours, only to become a very present scent bubble for yet another seven hours. We are talking beast mode here, but in a very, very pleasant way! Sillage, well what can I say, people will notice when you're gone, because you will most definitely leave a trail like a "king or a queen" for that matter. You will get noticed and you will get compliments, by the bucket-load, that's for sure. This is fragrance is so subtle and delicate, and yet it's a beast and it will not be ignored!

Blind bought this, reminded me of Enigma Parfum in the open. Dries down a lot more candy like and stronger and fuller bodied. @cosmetiquafragrance review is bang on. I don't get the patchouli on blotter. I will update this after more wearing. Update: Wow this stuff is extremely addicting. I walk around my room some days/nights and just sniff the atomizer. The combination (mostly the castoreum and rose) of notes evoke a feeling of a sweet cinnamon red hots candy. But this isn't harsh, this is something you want to smell over and over again. This is a BEAST. It also has some benjoin I think, as I go nose blind to benjoin after some time but others definitely notice this. I visited my parent's and my father asked me to give him some of this perfume as it smelled so good.. Longevity is beyond 7 hours. I have now put this fragrance into my car aroma diffuser and my car and room smell incredible. You could re label this with Roja Dove or MFK and sell it for much more. 10/10

I'm speechless as to what classification that this perfume belongs to... Fougere, yeah a bit, definitely oriental, and a bit cyphre as well... Dont get me wrong, I think this perfume is gorgeous, it smells very sophisticated, dark, broody, masculine. In the opening i get the basil as well as the citrus accord that make a sour nuance, which lasts quite long for a top note, around 3 minutes. And then the body consists of clove, labdanum, and with floral sweetness, and animalic aspect that I also find in Erotic (still from Franck Boclet). I fail to detect the notes on the dry down, because for me this perfume really blends very well. And all in all, i think this also reminds me of Civet fron Zoologist. That being said, i dont think this is everyone's cup of tea...

Perfume heaven Walking the perfumery less-traveled road, one is more likely to find gems like this, most likely sold on a summer sale. LOL. Here we have a lesser known perfume (based on this site's ratings and reviews) that is at the top of the perfumery game. A wintry smell. Sweet, animalic, woody-spicy, floral, drenched in labdanum. Long lasting. Great value. Get your hands (and noses) on it, if you can find it. I guess if there a perfume heaven, this is what it smells like...and no, I don't notice the similarly between this and zino by Davidoff.

Agree with the first review - this transforms quite a bit on skin. The woody dry down reminds me of Coromandel, and the patchouli, amber, Musk & cedar explains it..All in all, a brilliant offering from Franck Boclet. Cant wait for Fall / Winter as this is sure to shine in colder weather.

Simply amazing. If you like barbershop scents, it's a safe buy (price wisely). Strong potent masculine scent, that simply resonates within the air as you walk. Just got it but I'm sure it is a compliment getter. 9.9/10

If you want to be unique then this is for you. I don't know many frags that are this unique. And it's loud, and it lasts and projects for a good half a day and stays on you even more but not that much projection. It's so unique that it's hard for me to even describe it. It's a warm ambery woody dominant scent with some soft musky florar undertones. Although it is different from dunhill Icon but it reminds me that because of the woodsy notes come across. It's not a safe blind buy. It's very different from whatever I have or smelled so far. It has vibes of a luxurious soap in it because of musk and floral notes in it. Ylang Ylang in florar notes is noticable. The clove note is of type of creamy clove. Patchouli is semi chocolatey. It's a very complex fragrance but yet natural. If I try to explain it would be like being in a garden surrounded by a cedar forest in a dry autumn morning while holding your cup of Chai tea with cloves and cream (not milk) and the breeze pushes to your face.

I can see this being compared to one of my favorite fragrance of all time Zoologist Civet. But where Civet is blended in a way that no particular notes stands out to my nose, in this one however, the cloves, ylang, and patchouli really pops on a base of amber. The animalics and other notes playing a supporting role. Not being a fan of patchouli I much prefer the more complex Zoologist. But for patchouli lovers out there this might be a more cheerful alternative, as it lacks some of the melancholy and dreamy qualities of past times that I associate with the Zoologist.

One of the best quality and unique offering from Boclet imho. Civet, rose and patchouli are the main players which are then bolstered with some spicy sweet citrus (the cloves, and mandarine isn't noted but the citrus notes mix with the ylang to kind of feel that way). Reminds me of some vintage style fragrances but sits more modern than those, and like others say it can be quite addicting to wear. Great value on this one when found discounted.

It is a chameleon of a fragrance. First minutes it reminds me of some bitter liquor. Then rose & patchouli combo develops into a softer but still unisex smell. And then after a while the most delicious cherry notes come through. I have no idea what notes combination does it, but the transformation this perfume goes through on my skin is remarkable. I think it is an gourmand oriental unisex fragrance. I enjoy it a lot.

Does anyone notice the similarly between this and zino by Davidoff?

Got a bottle of this a month ago and have tried to balance it out but it just isn't working for me. Do not get me wrong, it is a beast of a fragrance and but there is a certain sweetness that is just not characteristic of my typical self. After 3 trials I have decided to give up and let it go. First impressions- a bed of roses on your wedding night and you’re wearing nothing but Egoiste and a banana peel. I really don’t get any animalic notes or relations to Antaeus unfortunately, and dries to a pleasant enough ambery finale, but I don’t love the sum of it’s parts- or even most of it. It has a very prominent spiced rose at the beginning which is the nicest part, but the Ylang is so strong directly afterwards that it just can be too much. I personally feel with the theme of this set (a marriage set of “Just” and “...Married”), it conveys the morning after, with feminine and masculine facets interplaying with each other to settle into a slightly musky ambery skin scent from bodies laying together afterwards. And I can see it being well suited to perhaps only that occasion, but a tough wear otherwise, at least for me.

One of my favorite perfumes It is comforting and sexy. Creamy unisex florals. I don't get civet or castoreum per se but maybe be what's making it feel so cocooning and sexy at the same time. Almost a coca-cola vibe at times. It's listed as masculine but I feel I can wear it perfectly well. I am careful about wearing it out in closed spaces only because I have seen other reviews and it seems like this isn't a love for everyone. I only need to spray 2 times to last the day. It isn't overwhelming like Followed by Karosene but I also don't need to spray tons like other fragrances to keep the sillage going

i recently received this boclet fragrance from a fabulous swapper and am fairly smitten. it's a beast, but cozy and delectable for all that. i decanted it into an old shalimar extrait bottle and am dabbing it VERY sparingly and it is absolutely wonderful. just like ts4r below i have to go sniff the bottle every once in a while. it's really rather addictive.

Just combines the bold aromatics and animalic facets of 80's masculines with the warm spice of clove and the sweet creaminess of ylang ylang over an ambery base. Somewhere in between Antaeus and Cinnabar or Youth Dew. Very unique in today's market. Great longevity and sillage.
