Aeternitas

Labdanum is not a pill. Cherry is not a Loud Child's Birthday Party. I anguished over what strange new note I sensed--beyond my frame of reference. It was clear that it was Labdanum with its sweet, resinous and fulfilling cloudiness. I have been tickled in a new way! And. . . it is just good clean fun. Wow--I feel like I have been reset in some way. I don't recall ever being so excited as I am presently about Frank Muller. Top parfumer Julie Pluchet is really so talented. Don't use a test strip. This stuff wants your body--oh yeah. The opening Cherry is like a new hit song. Down Cherry Lane: Often times Cherry is combined with Frangelique(Hazelnut, which I love) sometimes Almond, nearly always vanilla. Once in a while they offer a piece of cake with it. I find the cake kind of juvenile for me personally. Truth is, please just give me the real damn cake. I am watching my weight. Yeah. . . lookin' good and suffering too. To the Point: The immediate open asserts itself with Labdanum--dancing with undercover Cedarwood--got its hand on the gun. (Gun people, it's fun time--don't write.) So Hot. Now, the tune has changed on the dance floor. It's Cherry (Not the stripper, you are filth.) Cherry is frisky, popping and not too sweet as it swirls with Cinnamon, maybe Clove but not too much--and Orange. This is a Cherry that is not too sweet. It is tempered by Musk, Oud, Amber, and some first-rate Patchouli. Patchouli Aside--Why you should care--alot: Now. . . patchouli is a vast kingdom but few really understand it. Patchouli recklessly mixed with Vetiver results in a crass 'Man Clown' stereotype of manliness--a near caricature. Patchouli. . . .hmmm...this is the car that everyone says is so cool--but the switches click so cheap. I had to kind of learn Patchouli: I went to the very top of the mountain--Roja Dove-- to get my Patchouli nose tuned up because I was so ignorant. (Please don't leave Vetiver until you try Roja Dove Vetiver. I used to HATE Vetiver, and now I just enjoy it so much.)I confess. . . I am a Roja Dove fan boy, in a way. If you are not sure what you are doing, try this: Always try the 'top of the top' and work your way across. You can buy decant--you can lie and say you blind bought full bottles. No, don't lie. You can see price, blend approach etc. Let's get classy, let's get cheap, let's have fun. The good kind. . Guerlain Patchouli Ardent was one of my very first buys in Patchouli . It's not cheap either.. So good. So quality. Patchouli and Aeternitas: Aeternitas uses Patchouli with such a deep understanding of blending. It serves as a magical offset to a riled-up, misunderstood Cherry. Summary: This scent has alot of notes, but is completely uncluttered!!!! Never seen anything like it. The opening notes seem to last real well. Final drydown is the rose and cherry hint, some animalic/leather. (I collect alot of animalic and leather for myself. Can be some 'clinkers'. ) Aeternitas Leather is not crass at all. Animalics can be widely enjoyed as a 'scent suggestion.' Aeternitas knows exactly what it wants as it evolves in a very nonlinear way. Patchouli and Leather is no place for amateurs. Aeternitas is never lost. In Aeternitas, Frank Muller/Julie Pluchet show focus, purpose, and incredible finesse with this complex blend. The drydown note sequence is a re-wire for most sniffers I would think. The last are first. The first are last. Please seriously consider acquiring this one. (Where the hell did I get that?) I'm gonna hit the Frank Muller with more purchases--so different.

I was compelled to try this for obvious reasons. I almost blind-bought a full bottle for the name alone, then decided to invoke a little wisdom and got a decant instead. Aeternitas has been my screen name for almost every account I’ve used since 2007ish, spawned from my early love of Roman mythology. Aeternitas is the Roman Goddess of Eternity. ∞ Aside from my penchant for the name, this didn't disappoint. There's a number of cherry-forward fragrances out there today, and this one's fantastic. Rich, mysterious cherry. It's very much like French Defense from Mind Games, but this one has more depth and complexity (and it's "cheaper" in price). This leans more masculine, and I loooove that. Smells boozy, like an Old Fashioned with the finest bourbon and Luxardo cherries, also if it were dashed with a bit of clove and cinnamon. Mmm. Aeternitas is so smooth and well-blended that it's hard for me to distinguish a lot of the other individual notes. Lasting power is exceptional and out-performs Tom Ford's cherry offerings (seriously why bother with TF and MG at this point). Projection is great, people will definitely smell you walking by and be mesmerized. It is full-bottle worthy after all.

the notes sounded good, the reviews were good, so I decided to give it a shot. I don't like it, thank god I only bought a decant. In the drydown I only smell the amber, but also everything in it smells so artificial and similar to a bubble bath, it has a soapy feeling to it. I'd say save your money, I don't know what everyone is talking about in the reviews. It's super unnoticeable and boring, also it has no projection.
